The female waitress left the food and never came back I had to call to the restaurant to get some attention she came to the table in a challenging tone and started raising her voice without any respect. I met a few friends up at Juan Blanco's for lunch today. We were able to take our time and enjoy each other's company in a large comfortable booth inside, but next to the garage door so there was a nice breeze. This taco salad was only $12! They have great lunch specials. I had a couple bottles of Pacifico with lime, and those were $4 each. It's beautiful inside, they play the best music (you can hear it but still converse), and the service was great as well. The complimentary chips and salsa were really good too! read more

Not a fan, won't be back. Don't go here if you have any food restrictions, because they won't even try to make any modifications for you. Their salsa tastes like pasta sauce, no amount of any zing, zang or zong sauce improved it. They give you a 3 pack of sauces on the table and keep them in an old six pack carrier, I hate that. Cardboard cannot be cleaned & sanitized. They refused to make us unsalted chips. I'm wondering if they even make their own chips? Guac was good, queso was runny, and everyone in my party was 'fine' with their food. Nothing was awful, but nothing was tasty/mmmm/memorable/cravable. I didn't want rice & beans, so the server said "No problem, you can have double rice or double beans". Huh? Got the short rib tacos. Tasted like shredded beef from a crock pot. Place reminds me of a Chi Chi's wanna-be, but way worse. Chi Chi's had good salsa! Only thing authentic about the place is the Spanish on the menu. Had the flight of margaritas, eh, all were too sweet. Thank goodness only had 3 oz of each. It was so loud. So loud. After snapping at me that she knew how to break up the bill for the 7 of us, our server still did it wrong. Went here on a Wednesday evening for dinner with a friend. Arrived at 6pm and the parking lot was completely full. Circled about four times before someone left so I could steal their parking spot. Given the parking situation, I expected a wait to get a table so I went in before my friend arrived to get us on a list. Turns out there was no wait. We were seated in a big booth. The restaurant is pretty and has a classy feel to it. I enjoyed the lighting and looking around at the decorations. The music was banging. They did not play the often typical mariachi music, but rather Spanish pop- including my favorite, J Balvin. Absolutely loved the playlist they had going. Our server was friendly, answered questions thoroughly, and checked on us appropriately. The food is overrated and nothing special, unfortunately. I will start by saying I am a bit of a Mexican food snob; I grew up near the border of Mexico and therefore was spoiled with authentic food on the regular, so I can be hard to please when it comes to Mexican food. The salsa was spicy but flavorless- it was as if they thought the spice would make it seem authentic, but it wasn't. The chips were just okay. Normally we demolish chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants but neither of us really wanted to eat them. My friend got the margarita flight, which had a beautiful presentation, but she only really enjoyed one of the flavors. She said overall they were too sweet for her liking. I had a prickly pear margarita and did enjoy that. I was able to taste the tequila so I was pleased they didn't skimp me. I had the birria tacos. They were somewhat bland, but the dip for it gave it a decent flavor. They were supposed to be crispy, but even before dipping them, they were pretty soggy and falling apart. I enjoyed the tacos overall though. The beans and rice were disappointing. No flavor. I did not eat mine. My friend said her shredded beef tacos were decent. I got carne asada fajitas to go for my boyfriend at home. He said the beans were super disappointing and the steak was just okay. He said he thinks even El Charro has better food than this place. Love the sign and disco light in the women's bathroom. So cute. Overall, I wouldn't be completely opposed to coming back if someone else really wanted to go, but I will likely never put forth an effort to return. I've heard lots of mixed reviews of this place & decided to give it a try with my husband & a couple friends. I thought it was great! We went on a Friday night during the lions game & were sat right away. The restaurant, booth, & table were all clean & not sticky. Our server was awesome (I wish I could remember her name) & the food came out super quick! The choriqueso appetizer & the short rib tacos were super tasty! My margarita was made perfect. I also have to give them huge props because they asked if I wanted sugar or salt rim (like every other Mexican restaurant I've been to) BUT I think they are the ONLY ones who have actually given me the sugar rim. Normally I say sugar, they say okay, & it comes out with salt. So thank you to Juan Blanco's for getting it right! Will definitely be back to try more of their menu! read more

I was highly disappointed this time. Service was slow when it wasn't that busy. Waitress might have been new but she seemed clueless. We got the steak fajita quesadilla and the steak fajitas. The steak which was supposed to be carne asada was terrible. Appearance wise it looked like dog food. Had zero sear on it. They don't use the proper cut of beef. It was a very thick, over cooked, and under seasoned l. It was also cut in extremely large strips. It tasted nothing like carne asada and was difficult to chew. I suggest for them to revamp it. Use a flank steak and cut in small strips. Same with the veggies, cut in smaller strips. I've never had fajitas looking like that. I've had better at a chain restraint which is sad to say. read more

Parking was packed on a Friday night had Valet parking which was crazy for a Mexican Restaurant. When we walked in they opened the doors for us and was greeted quickly and showed to our table. The restaurant is upscale more adult friendly than kid friendly. Very clean and very nicely designed on the inside.. The female waitress were dressed very in VERY tight pants and shirts were the same... Not complaining but this is where my comment about adult oriented comes in. Our waitress was very nice and very polite, when I requested something she was quickly to return with the item. The bathroom for my GF when she went into the women's she said was disgusting, there was pee all over the seats and floor... she didn't even go and decided to hold it... The chips and salsa were very good, they are free and was tasty. Chips are not house made but the salsa seems like it is. I hate the steak fajitas which comes with a side of toppings and rice and beans. The steak was nicely cooked same with the veggies I like that they weren't soaking in oils definitely thumbs up. The toppings were the rice and beans could need some TLC... Rice is blah and dry and my beans were cold. I told the manager she was willing to grab a new one but I said I'd pass. The restaurant is in it's growing pains and can definitely turn around if they focus on the little things I'll definitely try again! read more

What a nice restaurant. Spacious dinning area and nice sized bar. The place was packed. Had a 15 minute wait no big deal. As we were seated a fresh basket of chips and a cup of mild salsa was put on the table. Our server Alyssa was fantastic and this was her first day on the job. Was on point all night. We started with the Elote (Mexican corn on the cob). That was really good. Very fresh not overly spicy. I ordered the Mexicano taco dinner with three Al Pastor tacos. Spiced perfectly had onion ,cilantro, queso fresco , pineapple and lime. With a side of beans and rice. The tacos were very flavorful the pork was tender. Very fresh ingredients. So we had diner at Blancos and as usual the food was outstanding. The guy behind the bar was not what I would call on the ball which is pretty normal for him. My daughter ordered the dessert she likes, some kind of cake and we got one to go for the wife. My daughter did not finish hers which was odd, my wife ate one bite of hers and said it tasted like they added alcohol. She called Blancos to ask if they added alcohol (she just wanted to know before she let the dogs eat it). The manager, a guy name unknown, was so rude and confrontational it has ended our business with Blancos. He ended the call by say, "Fine I'll leave a gift card at the bar" and hung up on her. It's a pity that such a nice restaurant has an unprofessional manager. As stated, we won't be back. read more

Saturday night date night was a success. They have a cozy atmosphere by the fireplace, and a more low key hangout atmosphere by the bar. We went for the bar, which was also cool because from 9-close is bar happy hour. Our bartender (Massi) was very sweet and made great recommendations. We were fasting from meat for lent, so we went with the Baja crispy fish tacos and the veggie quesadilla, both were delicious! The classic margarita was perfect. I went for the house marg at happy hour. It was not bad at all, not too sweet. Very impressive interior. It's clear they spent a boatload of money to outfit this place with comfortable furnishings and the latest technology. The lighting is spectacular and the sound system is pumping. You almost feel like you're in a Casino Bar in Las Vegas. The vast majority of staff members are younger energetics folks. Our server was very pleasant and certainly was hustling hard to keep up with us and her other tables. With such an expansive space I was pleased to say that they've hired enough team members to cover the place properly. I spotted two managers making the rounds also which is always a good sign. The chips were corn-based and we're probably a little more heavily salted and they needed to be. The salsa was very good with the right amount of bite to it. I had to chuckle a little when I asked our server if the tortillas were going to pick corn, was told yes, and was later brought flour tortillas. Not a big deal of course I just found it amusing. I ordered their basic grilled chicken dish and found it to be perfectly serviceable. Perhaps ever so slightly over cooked, but good nonetheless. The beans and rice were also quite good. My wife ordered a margarita and indicated that it was a very good cocktail. Overall I would certainly like to come back and try some more of what's on the menu. read more

Pretty cool place with a very modern design. Disco ball in the bathroom was very unique. Food was decent. Hot sauces/salsas were great. It was pretty loud and the service was a bit slow but they did just open. I'm sure they'll work the kinks out soon. We had stuffed avocados, steak fajitas, and a chimichanga. Beans were great. Rice is eh. Steak in the fajitas had a resemblance to pot roast, not much flavor. Avocados were good and healthy. Didn't get the chimi, but she said it wasn't bad. Ambiance is cute! Fair priced menu and the white sangria is yummy! I recommend steak fajita quesadillas. The veggies are cooked perfectly along with evenly stuffed steak and cheese. Our table were not a fans of the blueberry basil margarita only because it's sweet. The fried ice cream never melted lol it was just ok though. You cannot have a variety of taco fillers/meat. Juan Blanco's So I typically don't review places until I have gone more than 1 time. With that being said, we have now visited this restaurant twice now. The first visit was great, our server was great, the food was great and the facility was clean. Our server was super nice and made sure we always had what we needed. So of course we left her a very nice 40% tip. Unfortunately, our second visit wasn't as good. The hostess at the door was too busy on her phone to realize we were waiting to be seated. Then we were escorted over to a table by the garage door, which was open today. The table was dirty, the seats were dirty. So like anyone, I asked for a different table. The second table was in a better location. But it was also dirty with food both on the table and seats. So we asked for the table to be cleaned. Our server was not as good this time around. While she was quick to take our order. She didnt check on us very often. Without asking if we wanted dessert, just gave us our check. so I said, I'm not done ordering things yet. So we ordered dessert and I had to keep asking for refills on our drinks. With most servers, this is not something you have to do as a customer. But, the food was still on point and tasted great. I would recommend they install the slide down screen that attaches to a garage door for nights they have that big door open. Michigan has too many bugs to not have a screen up in the summer . It's not fun swatting at bugs as you're trying to enjoy your meal. read more

My honey & I went back to Juan Blanco's, after having gone there on October 31, trying to dodge the trick or treaters (just kidding). Pamela had the birria tacos & I had the shredded beef enchiladas (after success with the fajita/quesadilla, during our first outing). Excellent food & service this evening, by Giselle. Pam ordered churros for dessert & honestly, I expected nothing more than county fair, elephant ear kitsch. Instead, Giselle brought us churros that had no hint of oiliness or grease, the right kind/amount of cinnamon sugar. They were perfect. Who knew that churros could be this good? As I told Giselle on the way out, they now have had two chances to screw this up & they have done anything but. You can absolutely take this joint to the bank. Plenty of parking too (during the week, anyway) I would give this joint 6-7 stars, if I could. read more

I might have just found my new favorite Mexican-cuisine spot in metro-Detroit! My partner and I were headed to the Michigan Freedom Amphitheater for a concert and wanted to stop for margaritas and chips and salsa. From the outside the building looks modern. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised that the same vibes were maintained inside. The whole establishment is clean, trendy, and inviting. We sat at the bar, and the bartender greeted us with chips and salsa and allowed us to try a few different tastes of margarita mix before we made our selection. The margs were excellent and the chips/salsa/queso were great. We split a short rib taco dinner. Our expectations for everything in the restaurant were exceeded. We will be making the 30+ minute drive to Juan Blanco's whenever we have a hankering. read more

Some things were good, some things were just ok, but nothing was bad. We went here on a Saturday night around 5:00 and it was busy. We did have a reservation and were sat right away. We ordered drinks, which everyone enjoyed. Mine and husbands had a cool "black salt" rim that we enjoyed. We also ordered the choriqueso dip and elote street corn as appetizers and they came quick and were good. I ordered the vegetable fajitas and husband ordered the blanco bowl. Both of us agreed the food was a bit bland and needed more seasoning. My veggies were cooked on too high if a heat for too short of a time. One side was blackened and the rest of it was raw. My mom ordered a chicken dish and said it was just ok. My sister and dad ordered the bowls that came bubbling (I forgot the name). They seemed to be the star of the show and both really enjoyed those. The portions of food are very large and we have lots of leftovers. read more

Came to visit family that live down the street and decided to try it for dinner. The table got a chimichanga, super burrito and chili relleno dinner. All were good. Our waitress brought us several salsas at our request and a refill of chips. We waited about 35 minutes for our table, which we expected. Our food arrive very quick, maybe 20 minutes after ordering.
