My wife and I have been running errands and wanted to try something new for supper and found this place on yelp. When we arrived it seemed a little quiet, but the hostess/waitress quickly appeared and showed us to a table. From there everything went smoothly. I opted for a plate of enchiladas, and found them to be very well prepared and seasoned. The salsa had that wonderful tomato forward texture to it that I enjoy very much. The room is small, and it's clear that they get most of their business on carryout. That being said I think if you showed up with a somewhat larger party they would be glad to take care of you. I'm familiar with El Fogon because they have a location out in Rochester Hills and I drive by this place a million times because it's a mile from work. Being that I'm on this side of town for a few days, I figured it was finally time to check it out. The location's much bigger with more seating than the Rochester Hills one. Nicely decorated with ample seating, you order at the counter and they run the food out to you. Not sure if they have waitresses or not, but that's how they were running it when I was there. I asked if they had Birria tacos and the man behind the counter said they do, just not on the menu. I ordered the taco dinner with shredded beef, rice, beans and a glass of water. I got served chips and dip which was okay, but the salsa was a bit runny for my liking. The "hot" salsa was good, and wasn't overpowering. Eventually, my food came out and it was a huge portion! I was impressed with all three tacos, rice and beans. It was only $13 on the menu, so I was happy with how much food I was served. The beef was a little on the dry side but still fairly good. Rice and beans were decent, but the music was a bit on the louder side. I docked a star for the meat being a bit dry and louder music considering it wasn't really necessary. The man who rang me up was super nice and friendly and also went through the menu with me since I had a few questions before ordering. Pretty good authentic Mexican food. Service speed needs some work though. We met a couple friends here for dinner one night. Inside it's nothing too special. A standard sit down restaurant, nothing really made it "Mexican themed" anywhere, maybe because it's in a strip mall. We got beverages from our server at the table. We were still deciding on what to order, which was a mistake I guess because she never came back. The place isn't very big so it was strange that she just didn't come back. So we went up to the counter to order. It seemed pretty easy and we went to go sit back down as the woman behind the counter said it would be brought to our table. Over an hour went by and nothing came out. We went up to the counter and she couldn't find our order slip. Not great... She re-submitted the order and we made sure she didn't charge our cards again and the order came out in about fifteen minutes. Dropped by today to check out tacos. Wow! What a hidden gem in Warren and close to Fraser. Check this place out! Food came out hot and seasoned very well. If you love thin homemade/warm Cantina tortilla chips, THIS is the place to go to-(3) levels of salsa spice (green was the best) and a BUFFET too! Carne asada tacos came with cilantro and onions. Shrimp Ceviche was perfectly seasoned with cucumbers/lime and had a delicious crunch on my tostada shell. The owner offers ON-SITE taco grilling for all types of parties and events. I really like this place. Very clean inside, and the employees are attentive and kind. The free chips are thin, crispy and fresh tasting, and the hot salsa is incredible, spicy enough but good flavor. Mild is mostly tomato, but has a little bit of something to be interesting. For the price, we got a lot of food, and the quality was very good. Only complaint: I asked for spicy, but got white people spicy, but I am a white people so that's fair enough. We wanted tacos, I'm so glad we found this place. The staff was absolutely amazing, nice and super accommodating. My granddaughter doesn't eat "regular food" so we brought with us store bought mac and cheese, the staff was kind enough to make it for us. She was then upset that the color of that noodles didn't match the photo on the box. (She's 3, she wanted the noodles orange, not yellow lol). They were kind enough to bring her fries with a queso and a ketchup dip on the side. My son had shrimp tacos with flour tortillas, I had 4 tacos with corn tortillas. They were SO GOOD!!! Stumbled across El Fogon recently when ordering via door dash. I thought I was ordering from another place, but really glad I came across this place! The birria tacos are delicious and the dipping sauce with it is just as good. They are very filling. The sopes are good but not amazing. I have been spoiled with a local food truck who hand make sopes to order, but these are acceptable. It was piled high with toppings. Of the two shrimp items I ordered, they are generous with the meat. The shrimp is diced which is great so there is an even distribution of shrimp. I enjoyed the guacamole, but it had far too much onion, so it really took away from the rest of it and I did not end up enjoying it as much as I wanted to. As someone who loves onion, I believe guacamole should never have as much onion as they are adding. Overkill. The chips that came along with it were clearly made in store and were great and not overly salty. A variety of textures with these chips. The churros were probably some of the best I've had in this area. You get 3 per order. They are crunchy and caramelized on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside. It's like biting into a little piece of heaven. I have yet to go into the establishment, but my delivery's have been spot on each time and I would totally recommend checking them out of you're looking for a change in pace with your Mexican cuisine. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner and was not disappointed! I had the Burrito California and it was awesome! Very fresh and flavourful. The way the menu read, I thought I'd get rice and beans on the side but they were in the burrito. No big deal... Next time, I'll just order some sides! Discovered this gem of a place via DoorDash one lazy night and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. This location is a little further out of our normal radius but they make the meals quick and even with it being delivery, everything was hot and fresh. I have been obsessed with their birria tacos. From the first time we ordered we knew this was going to be one of our new go-tos. Since then we've had it 3 more times and every time adding something new to our order. I expected a burrito with meat, vegetables, cheese and sauce, with rice and beans on the side. However the rice and bean are inside the burrito. Not a major deal for me, however I do try to cut rice out whenever I can, which is why I was looking for the rice on the side. The market table offers good side dish options and it's hard to not over eat Ambiance is great for date night or celebration. If you are not a big fan of meat, I won't suggest this place. My mom and I had lunch here. We had hoped to have our first-ever Mexican buffet but apparently that is shut down until April. We each ordered a fajita bowl from the specials board and they were delicious. I got shrimp while she chose chicken. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. The bowl came in a fried tortilla bowl. I would say that the chips could be missed, although the salsas were tasty and homemade. We were the only people in the restaurant and I'm not sure but I think our server may have also prepared our food. He was quite attentive for how much he was doing. As for ambiance, there are some things to be desired. The front of the restaurant, where we were sitting, is jam packed with mismatched booths - I don't think heavier people or anyone using a walker could get down the aisle. I went to El Fogon today for the first time. I thought they had the all you can eat lunch buffet but I guess they discontinued it. So I ordered a nachos and a Sprite. The waitress brought chips and salsa. The chips tasted like their were starting to get stale. I liked the taco sauce. The nachos were just ok. The liquid cheese was wayyy too thin. I honestly could have made better nachos at home. They serve bottled pop at 3.50 each. Nachos and one pop came to almost 20 dollars.
