Few updated pics of the menu. Opinion hasn't changed. Best and most authentic Mexican around. Try the nachos with regular cheese instead of queso and thank me later.

First of all, don't sleep on this place! Amazing food. Great flavors and authentic. The service is fast and they do a great job with recommendations. Quiet little joint. We ate in instead of carry out. Simple and clean. Highly recommend!

Do you like birria? If so, you need to get to Taqueria El Compa right away to get the Birria Quesadilla. It was delicious. I ordered it as a carry out and it was outstanding.

This is a hidden gem but has some of the best tacos we've ever had. We ordered from here the other day on Grubhub and it was so good that it had me wanting more so we stopped in for a quick lunch. We decided to eat there and they gave us chips and salsa, I'm trying to think of a better salsa I've had a restaurant and I really can't think of any better. The churros were amazing, so save some room for them. They brought out the food. Everyone was super nice. The dining area is simple and laid back which honestly is perfect because they are letting their amazing food be the star of the show.

Authentic and well-priced taqueria serving up good food. We started with a very good salsa ($4.00). I ordered the three taco plate with rice and beans, with a mix of fillings ($12.50). The tacos were of good quality size and taste. My companion had a burrito plate which she liked. ($13.50). You order at the interior window and select your drinks from the cooler, then they bring it to you at your table. Service is quick a the staff is friendly. The place was very clean.

Food was fantastic! I ordered the WET Burrito meal with Birria and my friend got the Steak California Burrito. I've lived in Phoenix and Houston for ten years each and I'd say this is the most authentic Mexican food you will find in the Metro Detroit area. Que Pasa looks pretty legit too, but I have not been there yet. My friend said that his Steak Burrito was the best he has ever had (he's from Kalamazoo). He loved the guacamole. My food was excellent too. I tried the mild red house sauce. It was really good and had a bit of a kick. Beans had good flavor and rice was good too (no peas and carrots). Chips were fresh and salsa was not hot. Restaurant was clean, front and back of house. Guys working were nice. Simple order at the counter and eat in or dash. Breakfast served till 11.

Food service and ambiance is great! Definitely coming back! The inside is clean and modern!

The chicken tacos... just imagine cilantro, pico, pulled chicken, it was heavenly.

It's like a food truck with tables. Order at the window and then decide if you are eating in out taking out. The ale carte menu is so amazing. We had fajitas, California burrito (unbelievable in its goodness), guacamole and chips, chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos. It was a fantastic meal- simple, delicious and well done. I wish we had taken pictures before we ate.... Go for yourself you will not be disappointed. No wait staff- the crew will bring the food to you.

We love this place! We frequently choose Taqueria El Compa for our Mexican night. We have never ate inside as it's small with just a couple tables, but it's a cute place. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food has always been delicious and fresh. We love the Al Pastor meat the best but everything we have tried has been delicious. Would highly recommend trying this place.

Pretty average spot I would say. nothing bad to say about it but also nothing extravagant or anything. The food was decent, the prices were decent, I think if they were a couple bucks cheaper then you could make a case for this. Being a strong spot for some good value, but otherwise just an average spot to keep in mind. If you're around looking for some quick food. We will see. The food did come out relatively quick which was nice.

Our waitress greeted us immediately, and we started with cocktails and the chicken quesadilla appetizer -- just in time for happy hour half-off! I'm extremely picky with my food, and the cook went above and beyond to accommodate my preferences. I ordered the Wet Burger -- perfection. My boyfriend had the Three Puff Tacos (not sure of the exact name), and we couldn't get enough. I even cleared my plate! That chicken quesadilla was also outstanding -- I'll definitely be back. One was a shredded beef wet burrito. The burrito was so small and buried under a bunch of tasteless liquid. The other was a Chicken Charro Bowl that was missing sour cream, guac and pico that was ordered on it so it was just lettuce green pepper and chicken. A second Chicken Charro Bowl that was also missing the sour cream, guac and pico, so it only had the chicken, extra avocado slices, and green pepper. The only thing was correct were my 3 tacos with different meats, however the shells weren't very puffy like they used to be. Overall pretty disappointing for the amount of money we spent.

Tables seated after us had already received drinks, chips, and salsa before we were even greeted. Once our server finally came over, things moved quickly -- but I still had to walk around the restaurant tracking down staff just to get napkins and silverware. For food, I ordered the 3-piece chicken dinner tacos and found them way too salty. I ended up using the beans on the side to try and balance the flavor out. My spouse had the birria tacos and thought they were decent. Chips and salsa were fine. At $40 for two people the price was fair, but between the slow start to service and the overly salty food, we left feeling just okay about the experience. Not sure we'd make it back.

My wife and I have been running errands and wanted to try something new for supper and found this place on yelp. When we arrived it seemed a little quiet, but the hostess/waitress quickly appeared and showed us to a table. From there everything went smoothly. I opted for a plate of enchiladas, and found them to be very well prepared and seasoned. The salsa had that wonderful tomato forward texture to it that I enjoy very much. The room is small, and it's clear that they get most of their business on carryout. That being said I think if you showed up with a somewhat larger party they would be glad to take care of you. They certainly took good care of us.

Being that I'm on this side of town for a few days, I figured it was finally time to check it out. The location's much bigger with more seating than the Rochester Hills one. Nicely decorated with ample seating, you order at the counter and they run the food out to you. Not sure if they have waitresses or not, but that's how they were running it when I was there. I asked if they had Birria tacos and the man behind the counter said they do, just not on the menu. I ordered the taco dinner with shredded beef, rice, beans and a glass of water. I got served chips and dip which was okay, but the salsa was a bit runny for my liking. The "hot" salsa was good, and wasn't overpowering. Eventually, my food came out and it was a huge portion! I was impressed with all three tacos, rice and beans. It was only $13 on the menu, so I was happy with how much food I was served. The beef was a little on the dry side but still fairly good. Rice and beans were decent, but the music was a bit on the louder side. I docked a star for the meat being a bit dry and louder music considering it wasn't really necessary. The man who rang me up was super nice and friendly and also went through the menu with me since I had a few questions before ordering. Overall, a decent meal for the price and I'd return in the future.

The owner and chef, Ricardo, and his staff are attentive and personable. The elote fries are a great way to start a meal. I've also had a pork tamal/tamale. It was a bit dry, but I'm hoping it was just a one-time occurrence. I've tried four tacos on the menu: acorazado (fried chicken), al pastor, ceviche (marinated shrimp), and carnitas. Of those, the carnitas was by far my favorite. The pork is cooked with pig's feet, which noticeably enhances the flavor profile. I've also had the birria pizza. I personally prefer birria tacos, but have not tried them here yet. On the sweeter side, the aguas frescas, ice cream, and sweet bread are all must-tries. I've also gotten the chocolate-dipped banana. I would get this again, but the other sweets are superior. After sampling all the aguas frescas and ice cream flavors, I can honestly say I enjoyed them all. The ice cream stood out the most, as there are so many unique flavors. Prickly pear, gancito, tres leches, bubble gum, and piñon (pine nut) are just a few of the options available. As for the sweet bread, I got it on my way out, and it barely made it to my car. Although I loved the elote fries and carnitas taco, it was the sweets that impressed me the most. Most importantly, everything is made in-house. In a day and age where outsourcing has become so common, an establishment like Michi Michi cannot go unappreciated.
