'm writing this review to share my experience as a longtime pet parent and someone who came to this…read moreclinic hopeful, trusting, and truly liking Dr. Powe in the beginning. In early visits, Dr. Powe was personable, complimentary, and seemed invested. However, things changed significantly when my dog developed recurring urinary issues. After multiple rounds of antibiotics, I was told during an appointment that an ultrasound showed "a mass on his bladder wall." She recommended to come back in 10 days for a confirmation ultrasound. I returned and another ultrasound was performed. She then came back into the exam room and stated, "it's still there" and that it had become "more prominent," and that it might require a biopsy. She discussed the possibility of TCC (a form of terminal bladder cancer) and said there were good medications now a days for managing it, which of course caused me tremendous distress. I was referred to a specialist at MedVet in Mobile, Dr. Bercovitch. He reviewed my dog's case, performed his own diagnostic/lab tests and clearly stated he did not believe it was TCC bladder cancer and that no mass was visible. I cried out of sheer relief as I had already begun to grieve Henry. The emotional toll of the previous diagnosis discussion had been intense. When I expressed concern and confusion to Dr. Powe, about the sudden change in diagnosis and lack of clarity, I was firm but not disrespectful. I did say that "my dog is not a science fair project" and that "I no longer trusted the direction of care and would be transitioning my dog elsewhere after his current treatment ended." Several days later, I received a certified letter in the mail to my house. I did not get a call, follow-up, or conversation from my last message to her. The letter formally ended the doctor-client relationship. It was abrupt and shocking, and to this day I'm not sure why I was treated this way besides questioning her diagnosis. Another recurring concern was that during nearly every visit, I was encouraged to purchase add-ons such as probiotics and fish oil sold through the clinic. I didn't need a sales pitch, I needed medical expertise, clarity, confident, and steady care for my dog. I am not leaving this review out of spite. I am leaving it because pet owners deserve transparency, trust, accountability and emotional steadiness from their vets, especially in moments where serious diagnoses are being discussed. I followed every direction I was given, bought every medication or supplement recommended. I took my dog's health seriously and expected the same in return. Henry is my child. This experience left me shaken and disappointed. I hope it helps others make informed decisions about where they seek care. I've attached photos to show that a biopsy was recommended and the certified letter sent to my home.

I used them for 8 years when Dr.Corte owned it. Most of the positive reviews here are from before…read moreit was taken over by a new vet. I truly feel I was scammed. She told me because of my cats recurrent infections we should do extra testing to make sure something more major wasn't wrong. I signed paperwork saying it would be over $1000. I was so upset and I wanted to know my baby was ok so I signed the papers. She told me that it looked like something was off with the X-rays - that my cats intestines were pushed over to one side but that she couldn't tell if there was a tumor or anything in her stomach and I should see someone more experienced to do more scans. When I was paying for the bill I was the one who had to say that they told me they couldn't take urine because her bladder was empty so that should come off the bill and obviously the urinalysis should come off the bill. They refunded that $132. I had to wait five days to take her to another vet, five days of worry and anxiety that guilt like I should have known she had something growing in her stomach and it could be thousands of dollars to remove this etc. When I got to the new vet they knew immediately that the X-ray was done wrong. They said my cat was listed slightly to the side so her bowels shifted because she had fecal matter in her colon. They did a new x ray, showing her intestines were fine and in the right place. There was no tumor, she needs to be on special food (which I had just gotten five days ago because of the recurrent infections) and they did the urinalysis and got the results next day and let me know the crystals were dissolving with the food and she would most likely not have this issue again. They charged me less than half the price! When I went to the office to ask to be refunded for the improper scan (less than $200 of the thousand dollars) I was told that the scan was done correctly and I would not be getting any of my money back. I said "then what was pushing her intestines over to one side?" Honestly after sitting an waiting an hour because the doctor wasn't there (despite telling me she gets in at 8 am at my last appt) I was just ready to leave. Maybe this vet is better with dogs. I don't know. But if you have a cat I would go to literally any other vet.
