We took our sick senior dog to university to get an opinion about where she could be saved after she stopped eating. The vet was optimistic and willing to do a dental the same day as her teeth were awful, but they ran labs and she was just too sick and now looking at kidney failure. He said we could take her to a major hospital and maybe she could pull through and live a little longer, but we've been through a lot over the past year with her being in heart failure and we know she stayed with us longer than most dogs do who suffer heart failure. The vet was super solemn in giving my husband the bad news and he had a really positive experience despite the bad news that we had come to the end of the road with our most beloved dachshund. We will be taking our growing puppy here in the future like when she needs a spay. Please keep your dogs on heart worm medication. Our dachshund went to a rescue with heart worms and we fostered her through the treatment and then foster failed. She was the most amazing dog. Rescues pets are amazing animals.

When entering our truck, Molson slipped and ripped his declaw exposing the quick. We called the Small Animal Clinic, and they were able to see us that morning. The veterinarian promptly took Molson back for treatment. Within twenty minutes his exposed quick had been treated - and he was in much less pain. An hour later - allowing time for the bleeding to stop so the wound could be cleaned and wrapped - we were on our way! We can't say enough about how pleased we were with everything and everyone there! Compassionate, considerate, and very fairly priced!

My bill was $204. Once I get there, I am told she has yeast in her ears and to give her children's claritin for breathing due to trachea. Last night, Boots was breathing was labored, she whined all night and did not want to sleep. I contacted ER med vet and was advised to give her claritin and follow up with my Vet. Today, I call at 11a and stated the obvious. Do you want to bring her back for an exam (additional charge). No, i am calling for further recommendation as i was there Friday and the claritin is not working. I am told I would receive a call back. Around 345p, I receive no call and contact them again. First, Noone remembered me calling, hence I was told about the call back without alerting anyone. After calling for the second time, holding for 15 minutes, I am told that there is no record from the visit on Friday and I would need to come in and recharge for another exam.... Needless to say, its a hard NO! I don't not recommend due to no records, additional charges, lack of care and customer service.

One star could not do my dead dog justice, but that's my only option. My 14 year old dog Charlie,…read morehad been going here since he was born in the early 2010's. Years ago, he started having breathing issues and we started seeing Dr. Mary Edwards exclusively. He was put on a few medications, and we were fine... until his recent ACL injury, about a month ago. Charlie was a very food driven, active, bubbly dog. After Dr. Mary told me he had an ACL injury, I asked about an injection called Adequan, after doing light research the night before. She lit up and said that would be a great option, so they show me how to administer the medication, gave us some Galliprant, and sent me on my way. Two weeks ago, Charlie started vomiting and having diarrhea. We were trying to give it a few days just incase his stomach was upset. It continued, he began to lay in bed all day and refused food/water. Friday, we took him to a separate vet and they informed us that Charlie was in stage 4 kidney disease, and those two medications he was prescribed are things they can't have if he has kidney disease. This doctor didn't suggest or mention testing his blood before going on these medications. Also, I was never informed of any side effects, or anything to look out for if the medication wasn't right for him. This morning, we had to make the grueling decision to euthanize our sweet boy. His creatinine levels had reached 11 and at that point, he was suffering, in pain, and laboring to breathe. He was my bestfriend since I was in kindergarten, and now he is an angel in heaven. Please, read a few other reviews, as I wish I would've, and take your animal somewhere else.

When we went to have the surgery 2 weeks ago, they ask that you drop off in morning and then you pick them up that afternoon. They offer bloodwork and pain medicine in addition to the price quoted on the phone that are optional. They give you a paper to fill out when you arrive so you can select what all you want to do for your pet. We opted to have bloodwork, medicine and her nails trimmed too. They call you during and or after surgery to keep you posted. We were relieved to hear she was doing great. They offered to remove her back dew claws because she had already injured them and I had meant to ask them about it, but forgot so I was very happy they called and asked. They were very efficient and professional. The entire staff worked as a team and you can tell they love animals. Overall they had the best pricing (even with the add-ons they offer) and everything went well.

I confirmed I needed to come in now and not May (1 year f/u) and the very nice lady at the front desk said "actually yes, I could wait until May." Great! Just 3-4 weeks later, I placed an order for meds to be delivered and the next business day my order was declined. When I noticed this, I called and the other front desk lady - an Extremely unpleasant woman - said I must be seen before I can get more heart meds for my dog. I referred to my call the month prior. The mean lady told me too bad, I must be seen by the new doctor. I was hours away out of town and still they would not fill the rx 1 more time (2weeks supply) without being seen. With no notice, Village cut off my dog's life-saving medication. I had to pack up and head back to Mobile so that I would not be without medication when I arrived back from vacation. What kind of company does that to someone with a terminally ill "baby" as they like to call pets. If that were my only unpleasant experience, I could get over it, but I got a new medication that front desk refused to help me with including ignoring my emails when I inquired about it. Village has treated me terribly in the past few months. The new female vet is young and nice and seems savvy enough, but you have to deal with the front desk the most and the office feels really dirty and old. The workers got together and painted the joint and it's really bad. But you're still paying top dollar for services just like if you pick a vet with a nice office. Since vowing to leave Village, I have taken my new puppy to Westside. It's a much cleaner, appealing office. And we took our sick, sweet girl to University Animal Hospital in a Hail Mary attempt to keep her alive longer from the heart failure that was taking her from us. I called University on a Monday and got in first thing Tues. morning. My husband highly recommends University as a small operation with great service and said we need to start taking our puppy there. I was impressed by University's quick appointment time and they will l do a same day dental! Unheard of. They also do light anesthesia options for dental cleanings but also offer full sedation. When my puppy needs to be spayed, I'll take her to University. And never go back to Village. Ever.

Two days ago, she was in the yard which she fell, yelping in pain. Yesterday, she was lethargic which - if you have an Aussie - you know is wildly atypical. I thought the paralysis had taken its toll and we would have to put her down. Kathy made our appointment. She was empathetic and very helpful over the phone. When we arrived, the receptionist and the vet tech were each super nice and very professional. Dr. Gilson examined Tinkerbelle thoroughly. He explained the utility of each diagnostic and treatment option he recommended, and he quoted us the price. He found that she had fairly extensive osteoarthritis and recommended treatment. Our story had a happy ending because we arrived fearing it was time to euthanize and discovered our dog's problem was treatable. It's also a happy ending because, had it turned out it was time to let our dog go, I feel confident they would have handled that outcome with skill and compassion. Every interaction was excellent. We've had dogs for over 30 years, and we've had a range of experiences with veterinarians over the years. Retired, we now split time between Colorado and Alabama. Since we are both retired, we needed to know the price in advance. We were told that the basic package was $200 and that packages increased to almost $400 depending on what you wanted. We said we wanted the basic package for $200. Upon arriving with our dying family member and pet (Half-Pint), we asked to have her humanely put down and cremated only to be informed that the price of cremation was now $289 after being told just an hour before that it was $200. Not only that, they kept trying to sell us packages of up to $400 as we were grieving. We have been customers for over a year only to have them lie, deceive, and prey on us during this very emotional and painful time. I told them that this is not what we were told and we wanted the $200 basic package we were quoted. The technician said she understood and went to get the manager. While we were waiting, a second technician came in with the same options and also tried to sell us a more expensive package. The manager nonchalantly walked into the room where I had to explain everything all over again all while the dog lay there suffering. The manager said there was nothing she could do and that the girl up front had quoted the wrong price. I told her this was deceiving and we should not have to be dealing with this on top of losing our pet. She said, "What do you want me to do?" I said ,"Honor the price we were quoted." She said," I can't do that." As I left to get our vehicle, one of the girls at the front desk asked if everything was alright, I told her, in front of other customers standing there listening what was going on. The manager walked up and got in my face and said I needed to go that there were customers standing there listening and I told them they better leave if they didn't want to be lied to and deceived because you can't trust what these people tell you. Theodore Veterinary Hospital was going to charge us over $500 for euthanasia and cremation. We called our former vet in Baldwin County and they said they would take care of her. Their fee for the same procedure was under $400. They seemed more concerned with what we were going through with losing a member of our family. I was left with not being there for my family because I had to take my 89 year old mother to the doctor that morning so I could not be there for my wife or my pet and family member when she was put to sleep. This stressful situation with Theodore Veterinary Hospital caused my heart condition to act up as they were only interested in making as much money as they could off of our distress and pain of losing our family member "Half-Pint".
