If I could give less then one star I would. Waste of time and money. The dr saw my dog and recommended a treatment, gave her meds for what she recommended. Said she should be fine in a few days and to return if she vomits. Two days later she is in kidney and liver failure. She has now passed only 4 years old so sad. We took our 5 month old puppy here yesterday. She broke her leg in half. The ladies up front could not have been sweeter, but this vet tech Annie called when they had our pup for most of the day and at the time we did not know what was wrong with her. This horrible lady told us over the phone, when we asked what was wrong with her, that it was"wasn't sunshine and flowers, but the vet would have to tell us." Who freaking says that. Annie get a new job! You suck at yours! We get down there and I told Holly what she said and that we wanted answers NOW! I'm thinking horrible things could be wrong because of what that Annie lady said. Holly told us she broke her leg, but that was all she could say. We waited 45 more minutes for vet Carne (however you spell this chicks name) to grace us with her presence. Then she tells us about what she found and the recommendation. I expressed my displeasure with how Annie relayed information, and I kid you not, this vet carne said, "well next time we won't call you. We have been here 10 hours and fit you in" are you freaking kidding me! She never apologized and in fact tried pulling the alpha female stare down with me. NOT GOING TO WORK! Horrible place! We previously had taken all our dogs there for years, but will NEVER step foot in that place again! Vet carne you might want to just simply work on your customer service and understand that animals are peoples child to them. Try working on your attitude problem and don't try and make excuses when an apology is what was warranted. Horrible day made horribly worse by you and that vet tech Annie! Try kindness instead! In response to your reply. I stated that you fit us in and I stated they wouldn't tell us anything except from the vet. But again, your business takes no accountability. I am a manager at one of the biggest facilities in Mobile and have to interact with customers all the time while managing a team that does as well. Three different calls/visits to this Clinic and the administrative staff all provided different information. The two vets we saw were kind and professional, but the office staff does not seem to have any idea what they are doing, provide consistent wrong information and all say a different thing over the exact same issue. The place is dirty. We were invited to a room and the exam table was covered with the previous animal's hair. The place is stinky and unsanitary. My dog spent one day on a trial boarding situation and came home distressed and in severe chest pain to the point that we cannot pick her up. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

I loved all the Rehm animal hospitals until this week. I loved Dr. Chris and Dr. Mike, though I guess the success of the many clinics has left them distant from the caring oversight they used to show. As soon as a Rehm Clinic opened in Saraland, sort of close to me, I started moving my pets to that practice. So far I have loved the vet care there. This week, however, my 16 year old dog is having difficulty with his heart, all 8 of my personal pets have tapeworms as a result of fleas from 11 puppies dropped off here before Christmas, I'm sleep deprived, and I have no access to vets and some of the rudest people at Rehm telling me to come get my records.... No, I never cursed them out. No, I never was never even rude, even when she wouldn't take me off speakerphone so I could try to talk to her without my own voice bouncing back into my ear. It's hard to concentrate while echoing and she could have simply asked whomever she wanted to listen to pick up the extension. So Anita, who is not qualified, was so busy putting me in my place that 2 days later I still haven't talked to any Rehm vet. This is not the kind of care I used to drive from Pascagoula to Mobile to get. Rehm vets used to be very different, and I am so disappointed that Dr. Chris and Dr. Mike are so very successful that it has come to this. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place is an absolute disgrace of an vet. Not a person in there cares for your pet, all they want to do is make their wallet a little more fat. They took my puppy of 3 months old back to "take a look at her" and told me I owed $350 in 5 minutes for antibiotics and the staples they put in her before I ever knew they did anything and also without my consent. 1 star is too many! Too bad Yelp doesn't allocate for negative stars. Chris Rehm is a master @ preforming unnecessary surgeries in order to pad his wallet. My fur baby fell victim to his money scheme. "It's URGENT that I do emergency gall bladder surgery on your pet," he said. My dog was 17 and naturally, I had concerns about her being sedated and recovering. "Her risks of dying without the surgery are greater than her risks of dying during surgery," he said. "I do this type of surgery all the time he said." Again, I questioned if my dog would be able to recover, given her age. I trusted him! My pup went through surgery just fine. The following day, I picked her up from the clinic. She was yellow & had jaundice. I took her back and the film-flam started. My pup suffered for 3 days, never recovered, and died. Knowing that the abstracted parts were sent to a lab (not affiliated with Rehm) for testing, I phoned and requested the results. The results indicated that my dogs gall bladder was "moderate," and in no way "urgent" as Chris Rehm had indicated. Once I received the results (via mail) I phoned the lab, inquiring about there definition of the word "moderate." I was told that moderate was "medium," and that the gall badder did NOT need to be removed, nor was it "urgent," and I also was advised that during surgery, Rehm ripped the gall bladder. Thus, toxins were leaked into the cavity of my pup, causing an infection. (Naturally Rehm tried to cover that part up.) Finding from lab- unnecessary surgery that wasn't needed! And I was left to pay apx $5,000 and bury my baby. If you have the ability to pay and you imply that you want to save your pets life; regardless of costs, he will do what's best for his bank account and not your pet! I trusted him with my fur baby and in the end, my pup suffered, endured the pain and complications from an unnecessary surgery, and I was left grieving the loss of my pet and felt I let my pet down by trusting Christopher Rehm! Today, I received a private reply from Kristen, the "practicing" manager (her word, not mine but, I concur with the fact that she does indeed "practice." It seems that the integrity of my post is being questioned. Thus, I'll post screenshots that validate that the surgical procedure was done @ Rehms, along with the results from the lab (outsourced) that conducted the biopsy. Keep in mind that the biopsy was done from parts removed from my dog, and sent to a lab directly from Rehms Vet Hospital. Again, Rehm used words like "urgent," "gall bladder full of sludge & ready to rupture," "life threatening," when express why my 17 yr old fur baby needed emergency surgery. Yet, the lab results from the biopsy used words like "mild," "moderate," "no neoplasia or significant inflammation," and the lab findings contradict the urgency and "life threatening" diagnosis Dr Rehm gave! I trusted both Chris & Mike throughout the care of my pup. Yet, when my dog passed and I spoke to the lab about the biopsy results, I learned that the surgery wasn't life threatening. In addition, I learned that the surgery itself was far more dangerous (given my pets age) than the dangers of her gall bladder rupturing. My biggest mistake was trusting Rehm. I knew my dog was old, and though I felt she was healthy for her age, I expressed my concerns and questioned her ability to recover. I lost 17 years of love for my baby and I would had never put her through something he assured me was needed to save her life. And Kristen, I spoke to you about all this when it happened. You didn't care then, and the only thing you're concerned about now, is the honesty I've professed in my post about the faulty business practices your facility uses! (I've attached your reply so that everyone can see where your focus is. It wasn't in being sympathetic to the passing of my pet. Not once did you apologize for her loss. Your only concern is with the facts within my review!) So please find something else to do with your time. You're part of a shady business that performs unnecessary surgeries, (in order to take advantage of the hearts of pet owners) to line your pockets with cash! read more

I made the mistake of not calling multiple vets, or getting a good referral from a friend. I was upsold on unneeded medicine on the phone trying to set an appointment, and at the office during drop off, and again when I went to pick up my pup. They even tried to sell me on "pulling a problem tooth." That same "problem tooth" came out on a rope toy five minutes after getting home... not much of a problem, and definitely not worth the upcharge they tried to tack on. I dropped of my pup at 8:00am and her spay was done by 10:30, but they didn't call me until 5:00pm giving me 30 minutes to get there before they closed. When I go to pick her up, they say that she was very vocal and in a lot of pain convincing me to pay for a pain prescription before seeing her. When she came around the corner it was all wags and smiles, and both of us just wanted to get out of there. The procedure was done well, but I don't like the high-pressure sales tactics used by the staff. I have never felt less at ease at a vet clinic. read more

As an Auburn grad, trusting an AU vet school graduate is easy !! My Cooper has a few issues, but everyone from office staff, to vet techs, to Dr. Caroline and Dr. Elizabeth are so wonderful. My baby is staying healthy and gets the help he needs, when he needs it quickly. I've used both the Hillcrest and Schillinger Rd. location. Great service at both locations. Love them! I live outside town and I used to go to Theodore Vet and this is no reflection on them, but their hours are very limited. I switched to Rehm not because I didn't like Theodore Vet, but because Rehm's hours better suit our lifestyle. They are open late and they take walk-ins, which I love. My first experience was with Caroline. My dog was sick and I needed to take her in, what would have been after hours had it been another vet. Caroline was so sweet, so understanding and she took very good care of my dog, who is my life. Because of Caroline's empathy and when I realized it wasn't after hours for them, I made the decision to switch. Caroline went on maternity leave, and so Michael has been taking care of us. Michael is very much like Caroline. He is also a good listener and caring as well. I feel fully comfortable trusting their word. The prices are a bit steep, but they're pretty equal to Theodore's, if not a little less, depending on what they're doing. Their office visit is $4 more than Theodore's, but for me the convenience and continuity is worth the four bucks. All in all I highly recommend them. read more

Not a fan. Assembly line vet care. You don't see the vet at first, a tech comes out and pushes vaccinations they don't need and when your pet is sick, this place is too busy and impersonal. Hold on to your wallet, they are way overpriced and do way to much testing. I like a vet that has experience and is more hands on. These vets delegate everything out to a tech. They doped my dog up too much and she didn't recognize me just for an xray. They fought with her to get in the cage and she was dying. Never again Many more to choose for my precious pet. They take your money to kill your dog. I even confronted Bryant Anderson and all he had to say was he had dogs to die due to his negligence as well. Well my dog would have been ok if he would have done the test I had ask for and when I ask why he didn't do the test that I would have been the one paying for he said he didn't find it medically necessary. Well I didn't find it necessary for you to give me didn't brands of medicine I have that cost $1000.00. If you want best for your pet ask for a titer test! It will test for any disease also see if your pet has built up immunity for all the vaccines that are also not necessary. Do not allow vaccines till you have the titer test because some vaccines are live viruses and will kill your pet. The test cost $150 and I do not recommend going to and Rhem clinic! This is way overdue. Last November we had a Pit Bull show up on our doorstep. He was in horrible shape with multiple new and old wounds. His body covered with cuts and abrasions and suffering from a broken hip. After weeks of working with an out of state rescue group and animal hospital he developed necrosis in the area of the stitches from being neutered. We were preparing a late dinner when the bleeding started at 11 PM. We're talking cups of blood coming out. There would be no time to make the 1.5+ hour transit to the out of state hospital. He would have bled out. We had never used Rehm but they were close by, had a doctor in the office and I honestly doubt we could have ended up in better hands. Dr Shine and his trusty assistant Andrea met us at the door. While she worked with my wife to get the info Dr. Shine started working his magic. After saving the dog's life they worked with us on a treatment plan that we could afford. We were impressed by their professionalism, bedside manners and willingness to work with us on alternative pricing/care options. Prices: In this instance I really can't talk to price, it was late and they were the first ones we got hold of. We have not used other hospitals in the area for emergency services. It certainly did not seem out of line for the work performed considering the quality. And then....about 6 weeks ago our small dog started having seizures, coughing and all around craziness. Once again it was later in the evening. After a quick call to confirm the dream team was available we rushed Baby Girl to the Hillcrest Rehm facility. And once again Andrea and staff displayed genuine concern for our baby and Dr Shine possessed the mad skills to remedy her ailments. We moved here about a year ago and up till now have been using different vets for regular checkups, shots, etc. Due to Dr Shine and Andrea we will now use Rehm for all our vets need. I will say they are a bit more for the yearly checkup and shots than some others but I love that warm and fuzzy feeling. read more

I made my doodle an appointment with amber lynn to be groomed a month in advance. They had me drop him off at 8am and told me he would be done at 2-3pm. I live an hour away, but I was really hopeful that this groomer would be worth the trip so I stayed in the mobile area until 3 before I decided to call and ask if he was done. The groomer told me he wouldn't be finished until 5, so I had to wait two additional hours. I showed up at 5-no one called to notify me that he was done- I immediately noticed his awful bare butt. The whole cut doesn't look good but the worst part is the big white skinned streak on my black dog's butt. Immediately when we got outside he desperately had to potty and it was obvious that he had not been let out from 8am-5pm by the amount he had to go. When I loaded him up in the car I noticed he was still wet and he smelled like a dirty dog- not clean at all. Very disappointed. Will not be back. read more

My grandmother was concerned about her porch kitty so she took her to Rehm, it was the nearest vet open on a Sunday. Before taking the cat in my grandmother explained she was a widow on a fixed income and they insured her they would "take care of her". The kitty was diagnosed with constipation and given an enema- they suspect she ate a mouse. They didn't give my grandmother the opportunity to come get her that day, they kept the cat overnight and today she was hit with a $1000 bill. Ridiculous. She wasn't asked for authorization to proceed with treatment at that cost or given any updates on what it would cost- and was actually scolded for not having a carrier for her porch rescue cat. We will never be back there again. If it's a $1000 to give an enema to a cat that ate a mouse, I would hate to find out what they charge to treat truly sick animals. Terrible staff that takes advantage of the elderly. Avoid at all cost. read more

So you expect a glitch or two but here's what we dealt with over two years (and feel free to skip to the end for the final kick in the teeth.) 1. Associate vet (as in One with a Last Name that isn't Rehm) was asked for resources in reporting a business involved in animal neglect/cruelty. (We were new in the area and going through the painful process of finding good providers.) Vet said she'd get back to us and have someone call. Never happened. On recheck visit, was lucky enough to get a Rehm who immediately provided names and numbers. 2. Boarded our dogs for two weeks while we were dealing with surgery. Discovered two of them had bordatella for the first time in their lives despite supposedly getting the vaccines every six months. RehmVet acknowledged the problem and treated without charge. Needed additional course of antibiotics (as he explained might happen) and non-RehmVet (as in not named Rehm) attempted to reverse RehmVet's agreement to provide meds free since it happened on their watch. 3. Brother dying in Tampa so needed to board animals. (If you're asking why we decided to use a cheese grater as a playground slide again, it's because Rehm is the only place with large in/outside runs instead of cages.) Picked animals up a week later and since the groomer had a family emergency, the boarding techs (or whatever they're called) were supposed to give the dogs a bath. The good news is that some at least smelled as though they'd been gone over with a good brand of baby wipe. Others had stringy, severely matted hair and were in much worse condition than when brought in. One had developed an allergy and had solidified eye goo coating her muzzle and forehead and a 3" string of goo dripping from her eye. When I pointed it out to the youngster who brought me the dog, he used his thumb to smear it into her hair. And when the matted hair was pointed out, they offered to take the dog in the back and fix the situation. They did. By cutting chunks out of her feathers and chest. When I attempted to talk with the front desk female, there were two repeated responses: 'It rained' and 'But I saw them wash the dogs yesterday!' Really? And manned the front desk, answered phones, scheduled clients, juggled pitchforks, all while doing your nails? 4. Observed extremely rude treatment when new clients were in shock at the amount due at the end of a visit. Front desk female: 'That's what the price is and that's what you owe. If you can't afford it, you should have said something ahead of time.' 5. Almost forgot, one of our dogs urped something pink up when we were outside the clinic just prior to boarding. (She doesn't travel well.) I wanted to make sure it wasn't blood or some other issue so I picked it up in a clean ziploc bag and asked that the vet take a look at it. That way if the dog needed an additional exam she would have something extra to work with. I asked that someone call the next day to let me know the result. No one called. I called late the next day. No one looked at the pink urp: they just assumed the problem was worms and started ALL the dogs on meds.Trust me, since I do poop patrol daily at home, if they have something, I'll know it. AND NOW TO THE KICKER: 6. Today I attempted to make boarding arrangements. They had room but I was told to wait for a callback while they 'tried to move things around.' An hour or so later came the call that The Owner (pick a Rehm, any Rehm) had notes on our account that we were not to be allowed to board animals. Turns out they didn't appreciate being told about the series of problems at the clinic. Nothing like shooting the messenger. Strange, since in person the RehmVet who's occasionally at Loxley didn't seem to take it personally. I guess Big Brother Rehm is the one with the webbed feet of clay. Ah, well. They're running a business so why not eliminate the clients who ask for a moment of their time when things go awry? read more

Anderson has a bad reputation of misdiagnosing pets and not doing necessary test that owners ask for which lead to death of your pets. I would not recommend this clinic for the care your pet because even tho they have other doctors around they do not step in and do the necessary test that can save your pets when you actually ask for test. I have lost my pet due to the negligence of this clinic and hope you don't make the mistake of going here. It hurts when all he can say to your face after killing your dog is he didn't find it medically necessary to do test because he wanted you to spend thousands of dollars on pills instead of 2 weeks of antibiotics. I have mixed feelings about Rehm. Mostly, I think it is a wonderful place and one of the vets there - although I cannot remember his name - but he is one of the owners - and he was AMAZING -- absolutely WONDERFUL! He was so caring and so good with my pet and showed such feeling and symphathy with what we were going through at the end of my pets life and he was just incredible! I wish I could remember his name. My complaint with Rehm - and it was something I did not complain about when I lived in Mobile (I have just recently moved away) but I did not make an issue because we had two older dogs and we didn't know when we may need Rehm- most especially in an Emergency situation. But my complaint is this HORRIBLE woman that they had at the front desk. Again, I don't know her name -blonde teased hair -- So rude!! She was absolutely the rudest woman I have ever encountered in a business setting. I cannot imagine why such a great Vet's office would employ someone and especially to have them at the front desk, as this woman. I would go in to buy dog food and while looking for the kind my dog ate, she would snap very rudely from behind me, "Can I HELP you????" --- Not to mention, once when we had an emergency situation and brought our dog in, after they had taken the dog to the back and my wife was looking through her phone for our regular vet's number - the lady snapped, "What are you LOOKING for???" in such a nasty manner. She was SO AWFUL. I don't even know if she is still there, this was 2 years ago but like I said, I waited to leave a review until we'd moved away, because I didn't want to have an emergency situation and have this horrible woman lock the door in our face or something. Again, the vet staff was fantastic and I am SO appreciative of that but if that God awful woman is still working the front desk, I hope they will maybe put her in the back and let stock dog food or something. read more

This place is advertised online as being open 24 hours. I came in and rang the after hours doorbell and a very rude, grumpy woman answered the door and told me they were closed. She said she'd only take my dog in if it was an emergency and if I was willing to pay $100 extra to have a doctor called in. I told her my dog has been vomiting all morning and I didn't know what to do. I was there before the sun came up, so obviously I was concerned. She didn't seem to care. If you're going to have an after hours clinic, you need to have a tech on site who can handle problems like this. I am new to the area and do not have a vet and decided to try this place but that woman's attitude was enough to make me never come back. read more

Part of what really makes Rehm Animal Clinic on Hillcrest so great is their extended hours. For those of us with long weekdays and work weekends, this gives me an opportunity to get my pet seen. They are expensive overall and don't forget that the vet charge after 6 PM goes up. The most fustrating thing to me about this vet is the now "required" yearly HW test (To be fair...Rehm isn't the only game in town requiring it). My pets are on HW preventative year round. I purchase a years worth and I return in exactly 1 year for an annual visit. It's a $50 test. In my situation, some of my pets are seniors, so if by some miracle they got HWs (while on the prevention)... I would not opt to do the treatment. The treatment for HWs itself is very hard on a young dog and the sucess rate (depending on the stage) often is not that promising. I'd be willing to sign a waiver or something to avoid having to test. I wish I had go the name of the tech that was so helpful Wed., 12/15/10. I showed up and only needed a booster vac. Apparently an emergency case came in right before me and I was going to have to wait an hour (after driving across town twice to get the dog to there office before 6 pm). Took my 7 year old Shih Tzu for his annual exam which cost $378.36. One test, urinalysis ($43.62) was not even done. Evidently the exam was also not done because within a week I took him to another vet for his breath odor (which he had prior to going to Rehm) to find out he has puss coming out from under his gums. He was treated with antibiotics and he had to have teeth removed along with several teeth that just fell out. The infection was so bad that it had to have been present for several weeks. Had he been examined at Rehm they should have not had a problem diagnosing it. I only saw the vet give him vaccines and unfortunately assumed that when he was taken to be weighed and he was gone for awhile was hen he was examined by a vet. Evidently assumed wrong. I give them one star for their emergency care of my daughters dog several years ago. read more

This is NOT the Rehm Animal Clinic that it used to be. After 6pm, you pay exorbitant prices just for an office visit. They gouge you on the prescription prices and will not write you a prescription so you can get your fur baby their medications at a reasonable price. My first visit was in late 2011 around 10pm -- they removed a bandage from my dog's ear and gave her drops for a yeast infection....cost me $190. The second visit was in October 2013 around 5pm -- they charged me $47 for an office visit, $74 for 240cc activated charcoal, and $175 for a 6-week supply of Vitamin K-1. I did not pay for the vitamins and obtained them for $35 from a rural vet. Before I refused the vitamins, the activated charcoal was $38. as quoted to me by Amber at the front desk. After I said I'd only buy 3 vitamins (which were a ridiculous $16!), Amber went to the back with the chart and when she returned, the activated charcoal price went up from $38 to $74. The black girl told me that Dr. Caroline enters in the prices, so now I know the identity of the crook. So I refuse to pay exorbitant prices for a vitamin so the activated charcoal doubled. My money is green like everyone else's, and word-of-mouth matters in their industry. During that same October 2013 visit, my dog's paw was bleeding profusely from a nail trim that they did. When I pointed out she was bleeding all in their foyer and hallway, they said they'd get a mop. I had to ASK for blood coagulant powder! I left a good vet in 2011 because he had horrible help who injured my dog. Here at Rehm on Hillcrest, the help doesn't give a flip about my dog AND the vet is a crook. I will continue to drive an hour to see my rural vet -- the ones here in Mobile are too preoccupied with taking advantage of people who come to them for help with their babies. read more

My family has been using Rehm's for almost 10 years now. We have always been satisfied customers and have never complained about any services received. We are a multiple dog family and at one point we even had 3 dogs that received care at this clinic. We travel a lot and can't always take our pups so we choose to board them at Rehm when we can't care for them ourselves. Well, this past weekend we went out of town for a family celebration. Unfortunately, our lodging was not pet friendly so like always, we made reservations to board them at Rehm. We weren't expecting to be home until Monday but due to changes in weather we came home early Sunday morning. I called the clinic around noon to let them know I would be there shortly to pick up my pups. They told me it was emergency only and no pick-ups were allowed. This has never been the case for us on a Sunday. Anyway, after a brief conversation, this worker was firm about not letting me pick up my dogs until after 2 the following day. I am very disappointed that 1) My dogs were alone in their kennels during an extreme thunderstorm that flooded our area. 2) I was less than a mile away for over 24 hours and I was not permitted to pick up my dogs. 3) I was charged twice for a nights stay (per dog) when I was less than a mile away for over 24 hours, bringing the total bill to $300+. 4) My dogs came home completely unable to bark because they lost their voices during boarding. 5) There was someone there to answer the phone but not willing to let me pick up my dogs during extreme weather. 6) When I dropped off my dogs, the office staff asked me the same 21 questions they asked when I called to make the reservation. Communication is key. Like I said, I have never had any problems until now. One of my dogs occasionally takes anxiety medication and did not receive it during the storm. Everything about this weekends stay irritates me and I feel it could have been handled differently. Very disappointed in the staff this time. If there is a next time, I hope they are more compassionate and not focused on making another dollar. read more

Overpriced and they push unnecessary procedures. They called us to tell us to pick up our pet and then when we showed up they told us it would be 3 more hours. There are less expensive, better organized alternatives. We will not be back. In all fairness though the procedure did go smoothly. read more
