I bow to his observation and will modify my statement to read that it is the consensus of SEVERAL locals that this is the best fish fry in town!) It's not often that a restaurant that is a part of a hotel gets rave reviews, and in many of the hostelries I've stayed in over the years, the restaurant was an afterthought. Not here! The restaurant is quite popular with residents of Rhinelander along with the hotel guests. I've been at The Claridge Inn (The Days Inn these days) on Fridays, and at the recommendation of relatives, I've always had the fish fry. They also offer baked haddock, one of my fellow diners ordered the haddock. She reported the dish was excellent. My beer battered cod was also excellent, a crispy shell with cod of a perfect consistency. The meal is offered with french fries, I opted to spend an extra dollar to substitute potato pancakes.
