This place gets 1 star based on the fact that I was charged over $5 for a measly cup of soup... $5?!?!?! There was a sign outside advertising fresh, organic, homemade soups so I decided to check it out. Of course there were no prices listed on the menu board inside, so I just ordered a small. When the clerk said "$5.35" I thought I had heard him wrong, so asked him to repeat. Nope, sure was $5.35. What a gip! Even an amazing soup nazi-esque soup shouldn't cost $5 for less than 8 ounces... and it wasn't even that great. Oh, and you also get a mini slice of lackluster brown bread. GREAT place. Fresh juices (both fruit and veggie juice cocktails), smoothies (including whey protein smoothies), sandwiches, soups, bakery items, all wheat-free, sugar-free and dairy-free (though you may have some of the hot drinks with cow's milk if you choose). On my way back to the Port Authority, I was looking for something refreshing to drink. Juice Generation was a spot I had bookmarked for some time so I stopped by and enjoyed their "I Heart Watermelon" drink. The drink was very refreshing and cooling with some nice fresh flavors from all those fruits (listed as having watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries). In hindsight this drink does have a fair amount of sugar at 31 grams (which at least are natural fruit sugars), but is only 180 calories. Note there is no seating inside, with the only pseudo sitting area being a small bench like area right by the entrance. read more

Would put this establishment leagues above Jamba and Energy Kitchen. Deffinetly strikes me as being a healthier smoothie spot (Jamba smoothies have an insane amount of sugar), even though they strangely do not post nutrition facts on their web site or in their stores (unless I'm missing something). Some of the smoothies feature quite distinction ingredients, which you would not be able to find anywhere else (Ginger Zen, and Acai-based ones). Several of the Juices and Hot Blends I've tried have also been delicious and made impeccably fresh. Juice Gen only takes cash -- kinda annoying! I've just recently decided to try and eat more healthy, especially for breakfast. My usual weekday habit was a breakfast of some type of pastry and either a (decaf) mocha, cappuccino, or chai latte. So I've now made the switch to either greek yogurt with granola and berries, or else oatmeal with nuts and berries, for breakfast. I decided to add to that some type of a daily fruit/smoothie drink. Someone at my office told me about JG,so I decided to try it out. The first thing that struck me about this place was how clean it looks. (I like that!) It also smells great when you walk inside...you know you are about to partake in some healthy food! So far I've tried two different drinks (Hail to Kale and the Antioxidant All Star). Both were very good. I guess if I had one issue it would b the price. I'm not sure if what they charge is the norm for fresh juices etc., but it does strike me as a bit pricey.... I also wish they'd consider offering a smaller-sized smoothie; I often have force myself to finish it as a 24 oz. smoothie is not something that goes down easy for me....that's a lot of smoothie! read more

This place is worth trying out even if you make your own smoothies at home. I make smoothies at home, but I was surprised at how silky a smoothie can taste when I tried one here! The nice texture has definitely help me finish the smoothie that contains ingredients that I am not used to eating. I guess it depends on what kind of blender you use, but it's nice that this place offers new options that would be hard to try at home. As has already been said, the best smoothies in New York and certainly the best smoothies I've ever had. This tiny place smells like the inside of a lemony cucumber or something (aka delicious!). The guys that work there are all adorable and friendly. I've been going here every day for lunch since I discovered it this summer and by now they always know what I want before I order it! Which I love, duh. The service is fast and everything is ridiculously fresh...you can watch them juice the apples if you want. Fresh squeezed juices and smoothies are $4.95-$6.95 and actually filling enough for lunch. And they always give you the extra in a paper cup - which is great because I hate when I see them dump the extra at Jamba Juice (also they are slow at Jamba Juice. ugh, I'm so over it.) I'm sure the sandwhiches, salads, soups, etc. are also as delicious, fresh, and healthy as they look, but I'm just addicted to the smoothies! My favorites are Ginger Zen (banana, mango, OJ, soy, and fresh ginger - it's got a strong flavor and bit of a kick), Mango Madness (I love that I can taste the flakes of coconut), and the Urban Detox juice (also with ginger, cucumber, apple, lemon, etc.). I find the juices kind of overpriced. Me and my boyfriend paid 15 dollars for 2 juices. Anyway we ordered Coco Acai and Multi-V Squeeze. Multi-V was definitely the winner! You can feel the vitamin C in it, it's delicious! The Coco Acai sort of has no taste, it tastes sweet and smells like coconut. Forgot to mention they ask you what type of milk you want with the Coco Acai and what kind of protein you want with the Multi-V Squeeze. That's a big plus since I like my juice with soy milk. I would love to try the "green" juices next time! They have less calories and I'm sure are yummy!! read more

Confession: I love juice generation! Sure it's uber expensive for a smoothie ($7-$10) but nothing makes me feel better and more lively after traveling than one of their green concoctions. Last time I had the "Green Guardian" at the midtown east location; this time I had the "professional". This store is super small with no real seating but its clean as ever and staff is friendly. But Juice Generation does. Juice generation offers a bunch of juice combinations that you're unlikely to find elsewhere. They have smoothies based on acais, mangosteens, pomegranates, and other fruits less used by other smoothie stores. My favorite is the Coco Acai which comes with organic acai, bananas, and organic coconut soy milk. It's very unique and very yum. All sorts of people stop in here. There's the dainty girl on some incredibly specific diet, ordering her acai bowl like it's the only thing she swears by. There's the casual couple, trying to decide if they should share one or each get their own. There's the macho guy, in the middle of his 10 mile run, stopping in to check his pulse and to get his juice with a very specific number of protein boosts added. You should stop in too! read more

Popped in today and tried their "pure energy" juice cause I'm getting over a cold and the thought of coffee while congested just didn't do it for me. The space is small and clean and the guys behind the counter prepare the drinks very quickly. As far as the drinks go, they have three menus: smoothies (including a mangosteen smoothie. mangosteens gooooooood!), cold juices and hot juices. The hot juices are marketed to combat colds. All the drinks are clearly made with fresh fruits and veggies and you can also pick up various veggie protein bars and chips--flavored kale chips looked pretty good! My drink was a mix of spinach, celery, carrots, beets, a shot of wheatgrass and a couple of other items. I'm not sure it provided the same energy a cup of coffee does, but I also didn't pass out at my desk today either. My large drink at $7.75 or so IS expensive, but it is midtown and they do use all fresh ingredients. I'm not sure I'd go in every day for a drink, but I'd definitely return once a week or so. One thing is for sure--I'll definitely be back to try the mangosteen smoothie! read more

I am probably the pickiest smoothie bowl aficionado that I know. I am a snob when it comes to texture, taste, and quality of ingredients. For those of you as picky as me, this may not be the store for me. Maybe it's just because it was outrageously hot that day, but I found the smoothie bowl rather fluid (especially when I prefer thick, nice-cream-esque texture). It tasted really good, though, so I will have to give it another shot when sweat isn't dripping down my back from the NYC heat. One thing to note: there is very little / no seating inside the store, so be prepared to stand or sit outside! However, that's to be expected for a place of this nature in New York City. read more

I absolutely loved my smoothie--! I ordered a coconut açaí smoothie with banana and their own organic coconut soy milk. It was a BIT on the heavier side at 400 or more calories but I ate salad for lunch! I definitely will stop by here as a meal replacement for next time since it's very filling and can definitely replace lunch with this very tasty and healthy alternative! I also will try the juices rather than the smoothies. One issue is that my smoothie was almost $7..(a reason I put it at 4 and not 5 stars, I mean offer a small size and let me get a smoothie for $5) I mean I can buy a smoothie machine in some countries for that cost! I have come to Juice Generation twice for lunch. I work in Times Square, so the walk over is not too bad, and luckily does not require me to fight through crowds of people to get there. I am a huge fan of green juices/smoothies (not a fan of really sweet/fruity drinks) and I was really happy with my choice at juice generation each time. There are three green smoothie choices - kale kolada, mr. greengenes, and the green guardian. I have tried the green guardian and mr. greengenes, both with almond milk and no sweetner (you can choose between agave or dates). I really liked them both, but the green guardian was definitely my favorite. However, if you are not into green drinks, I would recommend at least getting a sweetener, or a non-green juice/smoothie (my friends at work really like The Protein Buzz and . Its nice knowing that everything there is really healthy and good for you, especially when it tastes good as well. read more

The Peanut Butter Split at Juice Generation has changed my life for the better and the worse. I am totally addicted because it tastes (almost as good) as a milk shake, but is made with high quality ingredients that aren't too bad for you. It is really good. Saw this pass my work place today and got it after work. Ordered the Aloha Acai Bowl, which has strawberry, oatmeal, pineapple, and bee pollen. I substituted pineapple with blueberry. The acai texture itself not as thick as I would like; but does taste pretty natural in comparison to Ubatuba Acai which I had in LA Ktown. That one seems more sugarly but is thicker(may have more ice blanded in). The only thing I don't like is that it is pretty expensive, close to $12 for one bowl and it isn't that big. It is perfectly big enough for a substitute meal though. I would want to come back again b/c I always love more acai bowls, but the price range def is something I would consider. read more

Love love love! One of my co-workers, who lives in my neighborhood, turned me on to this place. She lured me in with their Asian Chicken Salad. I also inquired as to the quality and taste of their juices . . . and with the big juice trend going on, I finally satiated my curiosity and tried both JG's "Daily Detox" and "Supa Dupa Greens." I love them both! The Daily Detox is definitely more citrus tasting than the Greens. The Greens even has a slight spicy/tangy after taste. But, if you're into getting nutrients straight into your system and don't mind some funky flavors, then definitely check out Juice Generation. There are locations throughout the city, and this just happens to be the one in my neighborhood. All the employees are very nice and accommodating. I even managed to have a great conversation with one of them one evening. So friendly, they are! Unfortunately, I can easily spend $10+ on a 12 oz. juice drink and a pear granola muffin. WAY too much on such tiny concoctions. I can't afford to treat myself to this every day, but I do it when I can. This is the only downside to JG. Regardless, I walk into JG with the intention of being healthy and I walk out knowing I accomplished that. I can't ask for more. Well . . . except for it to be cheaper. This Juice Generation Branch is cool! The staff are friendly and I have fallen in love with "Get Ur Green On" cold pressed juice. The juices are organic, yes, organic which not many places can proudly say. It's not good enough to say organic whenever possible. And the juices are not HPP either. The cold pressed juices are a little pricey even for a lemonade like drink, upwards of $8.00. The green was $10. There is a nice selection of raw foods now too, so more selection for raw foodists, yay. read more

This place has a few yummy veggie options in addition to their refreshing smoothies. I recently went for a salad that included hummus, tofu salad and some other faux meat option. While I loved the salad, I was not a huge fan of the fake meat options. I ended up asking my co-workers to taste the dishes just to be sure the meat was not real! Also, it seems that many of the sandwiches had chicken or tuna. I went to this store today and ordered an Almond Butter Acai Bowl. I told them I have a moderate peanut allergy but so long as there were no peanuts in my fish I would be fine. I waited about 20 minutes for my bowl and I took one bite and noticed they had given me the peanut butter bowl instead. Turns out they had switched two orders and given me the wrong one, but in doing so, caused moderate swelling of my tongue and hives on half my body. I had planned to be out all day enjoying the sun, but instead I'm headed home to take a Benadryl and recover from this mess up. The guy at the counter was nice and offered to remake my bowl himself but the person who was originally putting together the bowls was slow and careless. I was offered no compensation besides remaking the bowl that they made incorrectly in the first place. Unacceptable. read more

Delicious juices but no chit chat. Juice Generation is literally about the juice and that's it. What I mean by that is apparent by our dialogue: "Hi, welcome to Juice Generation, what can I get ya?" "Hmmm, I don't know, not sure what to try." (silence) (2 minutes later) "Okay, I'll get try the Mr. Greengenes with almond milk" "That'll be $X.XX" (2 minutes later) "Mr. Greengenes!" Every other juice bar I've been to has at least asked what I was in the mood for, what I nutrients I preferred, what other juices I've tried before, etc. Juice Generation is all about business and churning juices out, which I didn't like too much. The juice itself was aight. This was one of the few juices where I could actually taste the kale. I don't like that too much but if you're more of a "grassy" flavor person, you should try the Mr. Greengenes. To be honest, I probably won't be back, especially with a juice bar on every corner nowadays. However, if your favorite is Juice Generation, which is true for many, I won't hate. read more

I had the beet fresh juice with I think celery and carrot. I wish I would have asked for a splash of lime, but oh well. I liked it. It was more expensive than what I'm used to paying in Texas, but that's to be expected. For me they only taste good cold, but for the size I got it was too warm on the bottom to finish.
