We stopped for a late lunch and had a the Asian Fusion Bowl, the Southwest Fiesta Bowl, and a mango smoothie and berry banana smoothie. As expected, the menu was healthy and vegetarian and vegan friendly; the default for the smoothies was coconut milk. The brick café was flooded with natural light and maintained its historic Water Street, Hallowell bones. Counter service was efficient; the server politely told us they were closing in a half hour, which wasn't a problem. The only note was the loud country / Christian music. I realize this is subjective but we agreed it detracted from the experience. Otherwise, Juiced is a solid place to stop in Hallowell. read more

Service is quick and friendly, as you would want when ordering coffee, smoothies and cold pressed juices. There are wraps and salads that can be customized, cold-pressed juices that can also be customized, protein shakes and smoothies. Great place to stop in for that healthy meal or snack you won't find elsewhere. All the tables are high tops so maybe not ideal for younger kids unless you're picking up and heading out to the park or nearby walks. You can also get "shots" of ginger and wheatgrass. It's so cool! There is no other place around like it. I am a fan of the coffee mocha shake. The coffee helps wake me up, it's blended to velvety smooth perfection. The chocolate whey marries well with the almond milk and the banana gives it just the perfect thickness. Served ice cold and unsweetened (my personal preference) it's a great way to start the day! My daughter raves about the tropical smoothie which is made with banana, mango, and pineapple. Their menu offers a large selection of wraps and salads. Everything sounds amazing. I have only purchased smoothies and drinks. And every drink I have had there has been made with fresh ingredients and is super tasty. The prices seem reasonable to me and staff are always friendly and busy! The atmosphere inside is sort of hipster/trendy yet the brick walls remind you that you're dining in a historic building with cool modern features. There is a sofa and some chairs in the corner on one side of the dining area for a cozy relaxing place to sit. There is a selection of high top tables, suitable for groups, and each table has a charging station for devices! There is a back deck outside overlooking the Kennebec River. I tried Juiced for the first time today. It ended up being over $15 dollars for one smoothie bowl, I don't normally mind the cost...typically when I go somewhere for a bowl, everything is fresh or organic or even local. Not here, it was frozen fruit on top all mushy and gross. The fruit in the base of the bowl was frozen in chunks still. So not worth the almost $40 for 2 bowls. Will not be returning. read more

Delicious! I've been to many juice bars in the DC area & this is definitely comparable! The only juice bar I found in the Augusta area & glad I tried it. So fresh & healthy. Love the look of the shop, has some cute paintings on the wall. So much to choose from but I kept it safe & got a juice. I ventured & tried the new Appleberry Zinger & I devoured it. With blueberries, apple, orange & ginger, and nothing else added. 16 oz was just the right size for me. Came with a $7 price tag but it was well worth it. I would love to try more things, like their smoothie bowls or wrap, while I'm in town visiting. Wish they were open later than 3pm! read more

My wife and I were biking through town and got a hankering for a coffee drink so we stopped here and ordered two iced lattes. We were pretty stoked because they serve Coffee By Design and so we expected the drinks would be similarly good. The drinks, in fact, were a huge let-down. I don't know what the disconnect is but the drinks were basically cups of milk with a slight coffee taste added. I worked for years as a barista and would never have made a drink like that- either the people working there don't drink coffee and haven't been trained on how to make an iced latte (which, for a large, should have 2 shots of espresso in it!) or the owner wants to economize on beans and has actually trained the employees to skimp on espresso. At any rate, we dropped a lot of money on a couple disappointing cups of barely-flavored milk. read more

There's free street parking in a super cute little Main Street historic area, and Juiced also offers free WiFi. I got the 20oz coffee cream protein smoothie with vegan protein, and a vegan buckwheat muffin. Total came to about $12 (very reasonable!) and my smoothie and muffin were both delicious. I sat at the front counter and did my morning crossword while I listened to their music. I overheard the guy working there create something custom for a customer after me that was having trouble figuring out what to order. He was super patient with her and helpful in making something off-menu to satisfy what she was going for. All in all - cute location, great healthy breakfast, friendly service. Coffee by design is great too- especially since there are no other good coffee options in the immediate downtown area. They only brew half a pot at a time to try and keep the coffee fresh- this may not be a high volume product for them though which would explain a previous reviewers comment about older coffee.
