I come to this restaurant often for lunch and I never have a complaint. The food is tasteful and the service is normally great. Today I decided to go around dinner and the service is not the same. The server never introduced herself and after we ordered drinks, she never brought them. Another worker came and retook our drink orders because we waited so long. After ordering, our first server came back and told me what I ordered was not on the menu. I informed her that I often come here and ordered the item every time. She repeated "It's not on the menu". I asked her name and she stated, "Ashley and I am the manager". I responded, "I asked your name because you never introduced yourself" she replied, "I didn't have time to introduce myself and you have a nasty ass attitude". O.M.G. Fish is my favorite meat. I cook it often, experiment with different recipes and order often. Rarely will I order shrimp from any restaurant because it is too tough and basically is ruined. Thought I would give it a whirl here. I was very happy. So delicious. I have traveled quite a bit and was delighted to sea a North Atlantic style boil on the menu. Whoever came up with the idea of combining the traditional New England boil with the Cajun flavors of Louisiana was an absolute culinary genius. The potatoes and corn were soaked in the spice infused butter along with your choice of seafood - and I dared to get the shrimp. As much as I love seafood - I can't think of a time I had any as delicious or better. The ambience is nice. Nautical theme, clean upscale. Might be nice to have outside dining. If they had it- did not notice. The iced tea was very good. Service was good- but a bit difficult to understand the servers and I am not sure they understood my instructions regarding the boil - but no mind - it was over the top! Prices are reasonable and serving sizes are generous. After having had calamari in South Africa I vowed to never have it again in the States as I had never had any better. Great addition to the West Little Rock restaurant scene and a great addition to the choice of seafood restaurants in Little Rock. My friend and I ate there around 8:00 pm on a Saturday night, the parking lot was full but we were promptly seated. The decor was pretty and definitely felt like a seafood restaurant. Although it is a brand new restaurant and I get the impression they are working out some kinks, I did find it lacking in personality. Perhaps some music and more interaction from the front of the house would make it more welcoming. We were promptly greeted by our server and he was very friendly and extremely helpful guiding us through the menu. He was extremely knowledgeable and told us what the most popular items were. We ordered drinks, a glass of wine and a gin & tonic. My wine came out before my friend's gin and tonic which was kind of strange and my friend had to ask for limes and a straw for her drink but all an all the drinks were cold and adequate for the price. We did have to ask for waters on several occasions and our waiter made sure we got them. I ordered the crabs legs and my friend ordered the shrimp with no heads and crawfish and we shared a side of hush puppies. I ordered the crab legs medium with garlic butter and my friend ordered hers spicy with garlic butter. As our waiter explained to us, medium was more mild, and spicy was adequate but not super spicy. We both thought the flavorings were good. Our food came out fairly quickly and was served in boiler bags and galvanized trays. The food was absolutely delicious! My crab legs were cooked perfectly, very succulent, the perfect texture. The shrimp was also good and easy to peel. I didn't taste the crawfish, but my friend enjoyed it. The hush puppies were very good, especially dipped in the homemade tartar sauce. I thought the prices of the food were reasonable and the portions were good, not too large and definitely plenty of food. Both of our entrees were served with corn and potatoes which were good. We did have to ask for silverware, additional sauces, and lemons but everything was promptly brought to us. I know they are new and I feel like if they pay more attention to the little details and work out the kinks this will probably become one of my favorite places. The waitress said she would talk to the chef. No refund, no new set of crab legs, just and apology and that was it! Where to begin? The armed teenager at the front door smiled as we walked in the building. Then we were greeted by a 12 year old boy who asked us how many. I said 2. He grabbed a paper tablecloth and led us to a table near the kitchen and left with no further conversation. A waitress showed up a few minutes later, she must have been busy with THE ONLY OTHER TABLE BEING USED IN THE RESTAURANT! No "Hi, I am ( insert name here)" just what can I get you to drink? My wife orders a beer since it is so hot outside and I order a glass of wine. The waitress, whom I still have no idea what her name is, brings the wine and beer out promptly and then proceeds to twist the screw tab off the beer over the table with her bare hands. No waters. She leaves promptly as well and then I track her down and ask for a glass for my wife. It is an extensive menu that has Asian, fried damn near everything, and seafood. My wife ordered the single lobster with 1 corn cobble and 2 new potatoes. She doesn't care for spicy things so she ordered the mild spices using garlic butter. I ordered the scallops with medium spice/ lemon pepper. We were served probably within 10-15 minutes all in their famous bag. Interesting, I thought as this was my first time here. Of course, hers was a little too spicy but edible. Mine was not the scallops that I ordered but clams that looked like they died weeks ago about the size of pencil eraser. Most of the clam shells had no clams in them. I could not find our waitress anywhere now. She was up front wrestling with the 12 year old in a tug of war. She won! I placed my un-eaten dinner on the counter in front of the manager and said that I did not order clams, I ordered scallops(1/2 pound). I walked back to my table. The waitress said ONLY "it will be ready in 2 minutes". How? I dunno. I don't think I want to know. But there it was! 8 quarter size scallops, 1 corn cobble, 2 new potatoes all in a tightly sealed bag. I was given a fork only. No knife. That's ok, I carry a pocket knife. The scallops were ok, but the medium spiced sauce was not lemon pepper and tasted like a bottle of hot sauce was added to the dish. Now, I like hot sauce but THAT was not what I ordered. I ate 1 new potato and 5 of the scallops. Left the rest of the scallops, potato, and corn. We never saw the waitress until it was obvious we were through with this catastrophe. I normally tip 30-40 % because I know waiters/ waitress deserve it. Tonight broke that streak, I am sorry, not really. THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER EATEN AT IN MY 50+ years. We tried it for the first time last night and it was better than I had expected. basically, they use the spice type that you select and level of heat, add that and the seafood to a plastic bag. I assume the seafood is steamed. I selected shrimp without heads, and snow crab legs with (at the recommendation of manager) "cajun" spice. I asked for extra hot spice level. Things to consider. 1) their approach is interesting and I was pleased with what I received. 2) allows for a variety of spice levels and type of seasoning. 3) I am from New Orleans, but avoided crawfish because: a) August is not in season and I do not like frozen/Chinese crawfish. b) I do not think the "in a bag" method would work.. rather have them cooked properly 4) when you unpeel your shrimp or crack your crab legs.. you need to sip it in the juice. i simply emptied the contents of the bag on the tray. 5) they NEED to get good bread. they did not have any bread available but the juice is good enough that it warrants nice fresh bread.. real poboy bread from New Orleans would be perfect.. basically just like BBQ shrimp, dipping your bread in the juice would be popular. Oh lordt! I am writing this as I sit by my toilet at 3:54@AM But let's rewind and see how I got here... Upon arriving at around 7:45PM, we were greeted immediately as we entered, and seated promptly. Our waitress, got our beverage order and soon after took our food order. I got the mussles and clam combo, and asked for head-on shrimp to be added, my gf got the steamed oysters. Our order arrives and it comes in 2 separate bags, this is not my first time at a boil, and usually when asked for additions, they just add it to the same bag... But that's whatever. Anyways, in my combo bag, instead of mussels and clams, it was mussels and crab legs. Perhaps we misunderstood each other but I wasn't up in arms about it, I just told our waitress and she said "hold on..." And left to talk to a supervisor or something to figure out what to do. It took a little bit. She finally comes back and is accompanied by a tall black lady whom I can only presume is a supervisor or manager or some other type of leadership. She, speaking to the waitress while pointing at my bag, says "this one?" Proceeds to grab it, and then make her way back to the kitchen. Not a single word was said to us, and no eye contact was made by that supervisor/manager/??? No "we'll be right back with the correct order" No "hi I'm supervisor so and so, what is the problem?" Not any reassurance or anything whatsoever, though I guess her body language and demeanor says it all for us. We were more of an annoyance. You know what, maybe I did accidentally say "crab legs" instead of "clams" but regardless, as a customer of a VERY new establishment, you'd want to set a positive tone, since now a days, yelp is everything. Okay, moving on. The seafood was good. The Cajun flavor was there. It wasn't GREAT, but it was edible and fun to eat. What sucked was that the mussels were as small as the baby clams, and I had 5 dead clams and 2 dead mussels. It doesn't sound like a lot, but when you barely get 15 clams, that's about 1/3 of my clams!!! Fast forward when I get home. At around 10-ish, my stomach starts to feel tight. I've felt this before...but I was praying it was just gas... But alas... My of friend, food poisoning, how I haven't missed you. Well today was my first time going to the Juicy Seafood and I can say it will be my last time. The setup of the location is nice but the food was not at all exciting. My friend and I were handing menu with the food selection on it but nothing about the drinks and so we had to ask for drinks menu. We ordered the Cajun wings for the appetizer and we were so disappointed because they were basic and then we could have done better at home. This is in a nice building, but when they drape your table with a big, paper tablecloth you should know what you're getting into. They have crawfish, snow & king crab legs, shrimp and lobster tails and a few other things. Boiled or steamed in big, plastic cooking bags and served up in metal trays. Bibs, gloves, paper towels all to help minimize your need for an immediate shower after diving head and hands first into the spicy deliciousness that you should throughly enjoy. If you don't, there's something wrong with you. Full bar serves up delicious adult beverages. Garlic butter sauce is good enough to roll around nekkid in. This is my second time going to Juicy and I am done. They guy at the bar is great. However, when I walked in, there were two people at the door, one looked like a manager. No one spoke. There was no crowd. When I walk out, most hostesses in any restaurant will say, "thanks, come back". No one said a word. I wont be back.
