Sometimes a girl and her friend just need some quality time! We went to Jula for lunch during Alexandria Restaurant Week, and what was supposed to be a lunch date turned into us staying all the way through happy hour! We enjoyed a few more drinks and ordered a few more appetizers, because apparently we weren't ready to leave! And I have to say... Jula has my heart! The food, the drinks, and especially the service were all amazing. Our waiter, Quentin, was absolutely wonderful, and Dan, the bartender, was just as amazing. I had a great experience. The staff was very courteous and eloquent and the venue was beautiful. We made reservations for 3 for a girls' brunch and decided to sit outside. Although there were many lantern flies (at no fault to the restaurant) it was a gorgeous day out with an even more stunning view of the Potomac. Now to the food: the oysters (Rockefeller) were different from any I've ever experienced. They were still great, but definitely had a different taste than what I'm used to. I think Im in love with this restaurant. My server Mike was awesome and very knowledgeable. He knew exactly what to suggest and the food did not disappoint my tummy. Everything was absolutely yummy. I opted to sit out on the balcony and take in the beautiful weather and views. I must say I am so happy I did...just look at those pictures. This was actually a solo date that made me feel romanticize. The mood was just right. Soft Jazz playing in the background at the right volume. Everything about this place is what my mind, body, and soul needed. I felt so relaxed here. The peach Bellini might be my favorite. The oyster rockefeller was so good makes you wanna kiss the chef. Jula's continues to please and delivers on quality, service and experience. Here for Restaurant Week summer 2026 and the options were spectacular. The Gazpacho with blue crab was incredible. I loved the Branzino, light yet with a crisp topping of dried Klamata olives giving a slight crunch. The chicken with pancakes and caviar topped eggs was my wife's fave! We booked a reservation for outside and when we were escorted outside, we walked out to a beautiful balcony overlooking the Potomac River. The view itself is quite impressive and beautiful; it's a 5 out of 5! Frankly, the view helped bump my rating up to a 4 as it was really a 3.5 overall experience. We were greeted by a server that shared that he was not our server, but dropped off two waters for us. He later passed us again and told us our server would be with us soon, after some more time had passed we asked him for straws for our water and then our waitress came back with those requested straws. She didn't greet us, but rather said here are the straws you asked for, would you like anything to drink. I asked her if she was our server and she confirmed, but I was disappointed that she didn't greet us/welcome us, ask us if this was our first time, tell us her name or at minimum independently communicate she would be our server. My husband ordered a drink, I did not and then eventually we put in our orders - deviled eggs trio (one with smoked salmon, one with bacon and one with salmon), I got the crab benedict and my hubby got the salmon and grits. Both of our meals were good and cooked well, however they both lacked flavor and w found ourselves reaching for the salt and pepper multiple times. The deviled eggs trio on the other hand, was delicious and the star of the show. I had the fish of the day for my entree (the name is escaping me, but I think it was the sea bass). He had their pork chop. I'm a pork chop fan and now he likes to order pork chops when out -- go figure. The octopus and oysters were great. I really loved the octopus...cooked perfectly. The octopus was adorned with olives, also perfect since I love olives. The oysters were good too. I don't think I heard the waiter correctly because the fish I ordered came with grits. Not a grits fan. While the fish was good, I could have done without the grits. I wouldn't get this dish again. Or, if I did, let's swap out the grits for mashed potatoes or veggies. We all got to enjoy a beautiful rainbow during dinner We sat inside right next to the window to catch the sunset. If you're looking for a cute rooftop vibe without the hustle and bustle of the big city, Jula's is your place to be, tucked away on a rooftop overlooking the Potomac. It is a great spot to enjoy the views and a cocktail. I dined on a light bite which included the crab dip paired with a soft French baguette, and for my cocktail choice, I had the lavender lemon drop which was exquisite. They also have this cute bubbly bar that offers an array of Veuve Clicquot. It's also a great nook to get some flicks. Our appetizers were delicious. The grilled octopus was tender with grilled not burnt flavor. The lamb lollipops were so delicious but it was the flavor of the greens and "jelly" that made them so good. It was nice to share but these were not large portions suitable for sharing. The entree portions are small or maybe even what should be normal. I rarely can finish a meal. I always have leftovers. I was able to finish my salmon dish. I was hosted by friends. The wife had what I had. Her husband was very disappointed in his duck portion size. He commented that he was gonna have to eat a bowl of popcorn before bed. I had a group brunch with my family here to celebrate my birthday in January. Mike Nurse was our waiter and took excellent care of our party. We were never left waiting or wanting for anything. The food was delicious and came out quickly from appetizers down to the desserts. Jula's has beautiful views as it overlooks the Potomac River and sits just south of Reagan National airport. For airplane watchers, you get a good view of the planes coming in for a landing. On warmer days there is also outdoor seating. And several areas to take great pictures. My friend recommended this restaurant since it was on the river and she had been there with friends for brunch. I had not been there before and was happy to try a new place. It was a bit of a hike from Great Falls in rush hour traffic and it was in Building 44 - I got lucky and parked in the right garage, but it was a bit confusing. Their website was helpful in getting there, although I was a bit annoyed that after spending $150 on dinner, I still had to pay parking - they didn't validate. Who doesn't validate in their own garage? Food (5/5): The food was solid - we shared the Brussel sprouts with bacon jam and they were so delicious. My friend had the mushroom risotto which was GF. I had the crab cakes and they were delicious although they were a bit expensive, given they didn't come with a side. And yes for your simpler folk the have bud light in frosty glasses. So for a bit of the elephant the prices, they are not cheep but the perception of value is there. I'm not a fan that if you decide you don't like vodka in a bloody marry they up charge you for whiskey. In this posters option whiskey is much better option for Bloody Mary. Recommend you allowing an option for vodka, tequila, and whiskey. The bloody marry is also not house made. I passed but your server and I had a good laugh about it. Drinks are very expensive!!! Having delicious dinner while watching the gorgeous sunset al fresco was perfect. Ambience was casual. There is a slight difference in the bar/terrace menu from the inside seating menu. The bar/terrace menu does not have pork chops, ribeyes because we were told they could not bring out heavy portions outside with knives. Amethyst nojito was refreshing but I wouldn't say I am the biggest fan. The food was amazing. The crab dip and lamb lollipops were good starters. The sweet & sticky short ribs were so tender and flavorful. Honey fennel roasted duck was savory and flavorful. Hearty meals. Delicious. Tiramisu was alright. Our server Annie was sweet and tried her best to keep up but it was a busy night. As the night slowed down, she was able to give more attention to us. IMPECCABLE service, food, and ambiance! This was my first time coming with a group of friends and I have zero regrets. The decor is extremely aesthetic from the grass wall on the outside to the inside flower arrangements, you definitely get an upscale vibe. I have a mustard allergy so I asked for that to be excluded and they were still super yummy! The crab dip was not the best I've had as the consistency was watery/soupy, but it was flavorful. I ordered the Creole Shrimp Pasta to go and it was PHENOMENAL! I ordered three of their cocktails-- (starts with an H) Lemonade, Tropical Mojito, and the Gran Paraniso. Each drink was great, and goes from the least strong to the most strong liquor-wise. My favorite of the three was the Lemonade, it's one of those as you drink it sneaks up on you type of drinks which I enjoy. I took the peach cheesecake to go and it was DELICIOUS! All desserts are made in-house and some change seasonally so I can't wait to come back to try other treats. My bill was around $115 which is such a great price for everything I ordered. I ordered off of their happy hour menu for the 3 drinks and the 2 food dishes. Great view, great food and service! I'm here for a late Sunday brunch. There's plenty available garage parking under the building. The menu has several tempting options. I selected the salmon and grits. The ingredients are cajun salmon, white cheddar grits, fresno cream sauce, and microgreens. It was delicious. One of my goals on this trip to the DMV was to enjoy a Lucious lobster roll and I sure did at Jula's! The restaurant is beautiful. It felt so nice to dine on a clear day when there was so much sun lighting coming thru the glass windows. We were seated near the bar so we didn't get to enjoy your waterfront views, but if you can make a reservation and request a seat in the main dining room, I'm sure the views are great! I had the lobster roll and it was incredible. Lobster was fresh, abundant and so buttery. The portion was perfect for brunch. My cousin had the lobster omelet and she enjoyed it for the most part - there's a bit too much cheese for her liking but plenty of lobster. I visited Jula's on the Potomac for a meet-and-greet with members of an employee resource group from my new job. Since its a global organization, i was excited to learn that some members were local but i hadn't met them due to working from home or other local branches. Meeting up gave us a change to connect and more more about each other and other departments while sharing a meal. While it had been a long time since I'd been in Old Town Alexandria, and I had never been to Jula's I am glad that someone chose this spot. First, parking was surprisingly easy which was a huge relief for someone like me who isn't the best at parallel parking. The restaurant has clear signage outside, making it easy to find the correct building. Once inside, additional signs guide you to the elevator and the right floor, something I really appreciated. Walking in i was immediately impressed. The photos online truly don't do this place justice. The entry was elegant and your greeted by a line of sharply dressed hostesses. While our full group of eight hadnt arrived yet, they still seated me so i could wait comfortably. For a late Saturday morning, the restaurant was packed with everything from bridal brunches to couples and larger groups but never felt chaotic. We were given a table by the window, which offered great views of the water. Even though there are bar-height tales outside that partially block the view, you can still easily see between them to watch boats and people enjoying the waterfront. The only small hiccup was being told we had one menu when it was actually another once the waiter arrived so we had to swap and remake our selections. But honestly, once the meal started that was easy to forget. The cocktails were incredibly refreshing, creative, and beautifully presented. Our server was attentive, friendly, and on top of every detail. We never had to ask for refills on anything. When the food arrived, everyone at the table had nothing but compliments. We all shared portions with each other, and every dish was just as impressive as the next. I personally had the crab cake sandwich with fries and I was blown away. The portion was generous, the flavor was rich and fresh, and it filled me up the best way. It was one of those meals that leaves you thinking about it long after you leave. Our waiter Kai was very professional. He offered great recommendations. I had my eye on two of the mocktails. However, I don't like mint in my drinks. I asked if it could be made without it. However, the bartender made me drink similar to the tropical drink I wanted. It was so good! I think I had 3 of them over the course of my dinner. The Santa margarita was divine my friend said! Then, I ordered a lobster bisque which was one of the specials, and grilled octopus. My friend had the wedge salad which was perfect. We equally enjoyed the octopus! I don't care for the lobster bisque. I'm not even sure why it was called that since there was no lobster in it. I kept swiping the bottom of the bowl and it was no where to be found. For entrees, my friend ordered the sticky short ribs that comes with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had a Cajun seafood pasta. I added crab instead of sausage. Great experience at Jula's! I read a positive review on Threads and decided to make a reservation for brunch over the weekend. It's in the heart of Alexandria right next to the Potomac River! Great views if you come a good weather day. Our server was prompt, our food came quickly, and everything tasted amazing! Quintin "Q" Smith was an exceptional server! Not only did he inquire of the kitchen twice about slight modifications that I sought to make due to dietary restrictions, but he did so with great recommendations...and with a smile. He is professional, friendly, and exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu and the various ingredients. When I return, I will most definitely request to sit in his section because of his attention to detail, which is top-notch. In truth, Q set the example for others to follow and he is a true credit to this restaurant. I started with the biscuit, which was rich, thick, and so delicious with their fresh butter and preserves. My main meal was the steak omelette, which was fluffy and hearty. Accompanying the omelette was a light Caesar salad, which was a perfect size. Located in "North Old Town" on the top floor of an office building that sits on the Potomac River, this converted café is now a super nice restaurant that could easily be transformed to upscale by simply adding white linen table clothes!! Yep, as easy as that..LOL! The water views cannot be beat, and they have ample outdoor seating for the warmer days. The brunch menu is awesome. She went for the chicken and waffles and I chose the loaded lobster omelet. I'm not a huge omelet fan but this one was OUTSTANDING. Her waffles were hot and fluffy and although the chicken was cooked perfect, it needed a little salt. That's the hard thing about chicken breast.
