If another, more competent employee hadn't stepped in, I'm convinced it would have escalated further. Even then, we never received one of the four sides we paid for. To make matters worse, we were never asked if we wanted drinks to go, and we weren't given plates, silverware, or even BBQ sauce--basic essentials for a takeout order. That's just unacceptable. While waiting, we also watched this same employee tell three separate dine-in families to go sit and wait while she stood there rolling silverware. Completely rude and dismissive. If I had been one of those customers, I would have walked out. This is the first impression customers get, and it's a terrible reflection of how the place is run. While passing through town, we stopped at Julia's for dinner and had the pot roast dinner and chicken three different ways: with waffles and peaches, with bacon gravy, and plain. In all cases the chicken was tender and juicy with a light, crispy and flavorful breading. The pot roast was also tender and juicy. As for the sides, the cabbage, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and sweet potato casserole were great. The Mac and cheese and bacon gravy sufferd slightly from the late hour. The food was good, but as it was almost closing time, a couple items were not up to the owners's high standards. Ultimately, an impromptu visit from the owner, Fran, made it a wonderful experience. My husband and I ate here for the first time, but it definitely won't be the last! I have eaten shrimp and grits in dozens of restaurants, but the ones I had at Julia Belle's tonight are among the best I have ever had the pleasure to taste. Tender, creamy, flavorful, and packed with shrimp and sausage. My husband had the pot roast and said that it was delicious. Great prices and the service was extraordinary.
