    Amore Tacos

My boyfriend picked me up lunch from Julia's this weekend when he went to Guntersville. They had lots of menu items that looked good to me, it was so hard to choose! I ended up going with the Amore Tacos which were two steak and two chicken tacos. The pineapple was a nice kick. The chicken and steak were really high quality cuts of meat and were huge tacos! It was so filling and could last about two meals. I also had some of Austin's nachos. They were just ground beef and queso, but so delicious! I might get that next time for myself. They also gave you a ton of chips and salsa on to go orders. I would love to come here and dine inside sometime!

We went here for lunch and it was pretty good. I had a cheese quesadilla and it was tasty. The chips and Queso were nice. Our waiter was very good. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cool, I like the lighting and the lamps. I do recommend checking this place out.

Julia's is a serviceable choice for anyone craving Mexican in or around Guntersville, but will not blow you away. Service was great, even with the crowded lunch rush, but Julia's doesn't do enough to set it apart from similar restaurants.

What a nice surprise to find this new restaurant. I was getting my nails done a couple doors down and saw there was a new Mexican restaurant. I asked the girls inside about it and they hadn't been yet but said it is always packed and when they go outside it smells awesome! Well... my daughter and I decided to give it a go! We got there late in the afternoon. It was close to 3 PM on Friday. There were several booths with other customers. We were seated immediately and ordered our drinks and cheese dip! Ugh... I'm a sucker for a good cheese dip! First came the salsa and chips, and a few minutes later we had our cheese dip. First off... the salsa was so good! It was nice and chunky- not too chunky to where you feel like you are just eating tomato chunks - this was the perfect kind. And it was too spicy and it had a nice amount of cilantro. The perfect red to green ratio! :). The cheese dip was so delish! Just the right amount of heat ... and yes we are the entire bowl!!! We ordered and shared the Vegetarian #C, which was a bean burrito, cheese enchilada, and a chalupa. We also added a side of rice and beans. It was all so good! I have to say I'm really impressed with Julia's and cannot wait time go back!!!

One of their specials. Served on a bed on onions

The food was great and plentiful. A fun atmosphere in October for sure. The margaritas were enjoyed as well. Good service.

I'm always frustrated though because I never seem able to get past the chicken fajita nachos. Which are really good. The onion and peppers are fresh with a nice little char and never soggy. I finally tried something different and was delighted. I had a combo plate with an enchilada and tamale. There was a big pile of seasoned ground beef and enchilada sauce on the tamale. I think the tamale was chicken. The enchilada sauce was really good and tasted house made. If it was canned I want to know the brand because it was excellent. The prices are quite reasonable. I think the combo plate and desert was something like $11.

They have a 11-3 lunch special. We were seated at 2:40, got our drinks, and needed a minute due to the kiddy being unsure of what she wanted. It took the waitress (on purpose? I'm not sure) a minute to get back to our table. It wasn't because they were busy. We ordered off the lunch menu. My bill reflected dinner prices. Speaking to the manager, he told me we ordered after 3. I told him that was not our fault, since we had been seated since 2:40. He did change the bill to reflect lunch menu prices, but only after making the snide comment we got dinner-size portions. I replied that was also not our fault. I almost sent the chips back when we sat down, as they were stale, but did not want to be that person. Our entrees were ok, but not anything we couldn't get elsewhere. The interior of the restaurant has really deteriorated. There were wobbly ceiling fans, and it was muggy and unpleasant temperature-wise. This was a very disappointing visit. I really hate the restaurant has taken such a nose dive because we used to always look forward to visiting. I work too hard for my money, however, to not enjoy everything about a meal out with my family. There are too many options in the area to accept a subpar experience.

Chips and salsa were brought to the table without having to ask, which is always a welcome touch. Service was attentive considering there was only one server handling the floor. Props to them for keeping things running smoothly. The food was middle-of-the-road -- not the best Mexican I've had, but certainly not the worst either. If you're looking for a solid, no-surprises meal, it'll do the job. The atmosphere is actually one of the highlights. It's a nice bar setting, well-lit, and wasn't overly loud during our early visit -- easy to hold a conversation, which isn't always a given at a bar. Now, the restrooms could use some attention. They're a bit dated and in need of updating. I did get a chuckle out of the handwashing requirement sign posted prominently on the wall -- right next to the one soap dispenser that happened to be completely empty. It makes you wonder how closely that policy is actually enforced. Overall, La Cabaña by JUAN is a fine spot for drinks and a casual bite. Just maybe bring your own hand sanitizer.
