Look, I don't really like going to Walmart either -- but Dr. Julia Yeung makes it worth it. Her office inside Walmart is like finding an onion ring in your bag of fries: something great and totally unexpected. Her staff is kind, her technology looks like it was borrowed from NASA, and even the office itself--though simple--feels oddly calm, like a little oasis tucked between the optometry section and a shelf of discounted pool noodles. During my eye scan, I briefly thought she might be unplugging me from the Matrix, but nope--just making sure my retinas were in good shape. The real reason to go, though, is Dr. Yeung herself. Super honest and helpful and very fast. I was going to a different optometrist and a couple of friends recommended Julia to me. They were not wrong on how good she is. It was about eight years since my last eye care appointment and my prescription pretty much almost stayed the same, but Julia and her team was very fast. I've been going to this ophthalmologist for 7 years! She's excellent. I like that she's located in Walmart and has convenient hours. I was able to see her right away. She takes my insurance and whatever co payments I've made have been affordable. There is also an optical center right next door so it's a one stop shop. Julia performed more exams/tests on my eyes than I had ever done before. She was super thorough, not only in the exams but how she went ahead and explained every single detail to me. Dr Julia is amazing. I had a very sore and irritated eye. I was at Walmart and saw the office. I went in to ask about an appointment. The were able to see me almost immediately. She diagnosed my problem as ocular shingles. She prescribed medication but wanted to monitor my situation as shingles can easily leave permanent eye damage and loss of sight. I had daily follow up appointments, on Sunday she left her daughters softball game and came to her office just to examine my eye She never charged me for the follow up appointments. It seems very rare lately to find any healthcare provider that is truly invested in your well-being like Dr. Julia. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of an optometrist. read more

I stopped in because I noticed something growing inside my eyelid. In my line of work I get alot of dirt and crap in my eyes and I often get stye's but this time it was different. Dr. Duong saw me and did her inspection very thoroughly. She is so hands on and seems like she checks for more than just the problem I came in with. She said it wasn't a stye this time but an allergic reaction and asked about any recent allergies I've had lately. I of course then realized that I've been hanging around a friend's house more often lately and they have a cat which I'm extremely allergic to. Then I realized that when I'm over there, my right eye is always watery, which is the eye I have the infection in. Dr. Duong advised me to stay away till the reaction has cleared up and wrote me a prescription to a special eye drop. I really liked her professionalism, and thoroughness. She didn't just look through her scope to see what was going on but felt around my eye, lifted my eye lids to inspect the infection, very gently used a tool of some sort to see if she can remove the infection. She explained everything as she was checking me, which made me feel relieved it wasn't anything crazy. She did everything she could and I left feeling like I got the best care possible. Thank you Dr. Duong for making me feel cared for as a person and not just a job. Your awesome. We need more doctors like you in every field. =) read more

Where do I even begin!?!! Yes, it's just an eye exam, or that's what I always thought.....but this was by far the BEST experience I have ever had with any doctor,EVER! I have not been good about getting regular eye exams, so I can honestly say that it has been years, since my last eye exam. While that is obviously not a good thing, I was relieved to not be chastised for my poor choices. Dr. Julia Doung made me feel so comfortable and at ease, despite my general anxiety for all doctors(till now!). Dr Duong is amazing! My husband and I first found her after I had the worst double eye infection that I've ever experienced. I thought I was going blind, the pain was so bad, I couldn't open my eyes, they burned like I've never experience in life. 3 trips to the ER and no one was able to help me. Dr Duong got me in as an emergency and immediately got me seeing, opened eyes, and feeling better. We have been loyal to her ever since and that was almost 10 years ago. Dr. Duong saved my life, or least it felt like it when she removed a contact lens that had rolled up under my eyelid for over 24 hours! I showed up with no appointment, but in obvious distress, and I was seen right away. Dr. Duong showed me how to roll my eyelid up (a gross but useful skill!) and impressed me with how much she knew about mascara and contacts. She took a lot of time with me to discuss my family history of glaucoma and cataracts. I will recommend Dr. Duong without hesitation. read more
