Decent entertainment, terrible atmosphere, overpriced food and drink. The atmosphere here is very strange, reminding me a strip club. Outside it looks like a converted sizzler with blacked out windows. Inside there is blacklights everywhere with with neon lights. The seating looks like a hotel buffet. Very tacky and simple decoration. The belly-dancers were ok, the first one was a bit overweight but kept us entertained. The MC was talented keeping the entertainment moving along, getting the crowd involved. I enjoyed the band, but have to fault them for overusing a synthesizer that had trouble producing realistic sounds. You can find just as good if not better food in this style throughout Chicago. Their hummus and falafel was top notch, although the 2 drink minimum at $8 a piece forced me to see past this. To be fair I was there from around 9 to 11:30 on a Saturday, but I was told that it gets really hopping after midnight. I would give them 3 stars, but have to knock them down one star for not respecting my privacy and the law by printing my entire credit card number on the receipt. Shame on you!

Big fun!. We were a group of 8 and certainly the ethnic minority here. However we were made to feel very welcome and our waiter (Mel) and the owner (Al) were exceptionally friendly and we were very well taken care of. Entertainment was awesome. We didn't know the music or songs but it was fascinating to people watch. Vanessa the Brazilian Belly dancer was gorgeous and very talented. Very authentic show. The place was sold out and obviously favored by the local middle eastern population. You want good ethnic food? Eat where they eat! Excellent food. Highly recommend the lamb chops. Hookah'd for the first time and I'm a fan! P.S Other reviews I have read stated "BYOB" this is not the case!

I arrived 25 minutes later and they hadn't even made my order. From there, 3 different people told me it'll be another 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes. I ended up waiting 20 minutes and during that whole time there was no apology. One of the workers handed me a tea and later I saw they included dessert in the bag. It was a nice gesture but I was frustrated that it wasn't acknowledged by the staff at all and part of my order was still missing. I paid $2.25 for a Yogurt & Cucumber Sauce which I never received. The Caspian Mix Grill with Albaloo Polo was very good. The filet mignon & chicken breast were both juicy and well-seasoned. The Albaloo Polo is plain basmati rice mixed with saffron, caramelized onion and sauteed sweet & sour cherries. I liked the rice but it felt like they just threw the cherries on top rather than incorporate it into the rice. It was very filling, enough to share with 2 people, and good value. The Bamieh & Balava were also fresh, sweet, and a nice bite to end on. Ultimately, I would give the food a 4/5 and the service a 2/5, hence my 3/5 rating.

The hummus is fantastic, and the falafel is some of the best I've had, but my hands down favourite item is the Chicken Shwarma Wrap. That's the winner for me. I enjoyed my beef shawarma over baba ghanoush plate, ~$11 (it made quite a filling lunch!) although I would've loved if they'd thrown some pickled veg in there. The beef shawarma is a bit different from shawarma I've had elsewhere--almost ground beef-like in texture--but the flavor was pretty good. Their baba ghanoush is also creamier than others I've had, seems quite similar to their hummus, with a lot of tahini mixed in maybe? I didn't love their chicken shawarma wrap in the past, but that might be because I'm not that into their hot sauce. I'd love to get their veggie platter sometime! Service is friendly and quick. They still sell bananas and local Middle Eastern cookies from Chicago bakeries for desesrt. The menu might have changed slightly, but fans of Pita X-Press will probably find their favorites.
