It's lovely Italian deli a block away from Rittenhouse square, where they have a wide assortment of fantastic sandwiches. I chose the Vesuvius today and what a treat it was. Bread is fresh, chicken cutlet crispy on the outside, and great veggies. I've had a few other sandwiches here and honestly, you can't go wrong. Highly reccomend the Soprano and Gabagool as well. All are big enough that I can eat half a sandwich for lunch and another for dinner. The people working there are also very nice and friendly. Sandwiches come with a free bag of chips and the staff often hand out some delicious bread pudding cups. Highly reccomend this place. Just wish the name was a tad more memorable as I can never remember it lol.

For…read moremonths, I have passed by and wondered what they serve inside without stopping in to see for myself. While trying to determine what I wanted to order for lunch last week, I took a look at the Yelp Page for Tortice's and saw some of the most mouth watering options ever. I could not decide between the Philly Special and the Rittenhouse. I went for the Philly Special because I was more in the mood for the sweet taste of a balsamic glaze and eggplant. I ordered my sandwich directly on the Yelp Page and it was ready when I got there to pick it up. The prices are super fair, I managed to get a drink and chips too for less than $25 for everything. The highlight of this sandwich was the chicken cutlet. I am PICKY when it comes to chicken cutlets. The seasoning here was absolute perfection. The portion was generous. I was full well past dinner time. The staff inside were very friendly and kind. I can't wait to return and try the Rittenhouse Sandwich next!

There is a squad of people working in the back and the owner was up front taking orders and helping out with the kitchen staff too. I didn't catch his first name, but he was extremely nice and helpful with the menu. On Wednesdays they have a chicken cheesesteak special so I tried that. They use real chicken breast that's finely chopped and added a lot of cheese. I asked for hot peppers on it and they added long hots which gave it a nice kick. It was a large portion and tasty! On my second trip I had their Original Italian - a mouthwatering combination of coteghino, Genoa salami, ham capocollo, pepperoni and sharp provolone (chopped, not sliced), tenderly placed on a sesame-seed French loaf from the finest bakery in the Kingdom and lathered with Fink's secret olive spread. I added long hots, lettuce tomato and onion. I wish I would have went sans olive spread as it was just too overpowering. The bread was awesome and the combination of meats was solid. I would have liked a sharper provolone. It was a good Italian sub, but not top tier. They have around 8 or so gourmet hoagies with local neighborhood names (featured toppings include roast pork, turkey breast, turkey, buffalo chicken, tuna salad, prosciutto, ham and roast beef) that I would love to try out in future visits. Prices seemed fair at $7.41 for a small and $14.82 for a large. If I'm in the neighborhood I'd repeat. It's always great to support a veteran and a super nice guy to boot. The girl working up front was about as patient and friendly as you can get. The vibes were good here and I enjoyed reading the food articles and seeing Mr. Fink's display area of his personal military items. Thank you for your service and for the good grub!

Now I work in the North East and folks in this part of town really love a chicken cutlet and a seeded roll. I am not a fan of roast pork sandwiches, chicken cutlets or seeded rolls so when my company does a food order I usually stick to pizza or a turkey hoagie (although the Fuzzy Cutlet at Chubby's is interesting and deserves a nod). Today's order was coming from Jack's Place and I was told I could not go wrong with anything that I ordered from here. Still I went with the turkey hoagie and I actually enjoyed it seeded roll and all. The turkey was very fresh, oven roasted and thinly sliced. The lettuce and tomato was also fresh. I asked for hot peppers and thought I might get banana peppers or cherry peppers but they gave me long hots and boy did that pack a punch. I also liked the fact that the sandwich was flat. One of my co-workers ordered an Italian and he was not expecting the olive spread on the bread. He tried scraping it off the roll but said it still made the sandwich taste too olive-y and that no where on the menu does it say there will be an olive spread. It doesn't and it really should and for that and the fact that I could not specify a non seeded roll I lowered my rating. But I would definitely seek out this sandwich again. Oh and the fries were nice and seasoned.
