Just came back from PR and so far this is the closest to the panaderia but it's more like deli than a coffee shop/bakery. I really like their bfast sandwiches. Just wished they use sobao bread! Very nice staff and manager

I got the steak sandwich with cheese. I'm not exactly sure what else was on my cheesesteak. Between masks, plexiglass, and accents I had no idea what the young woman was asking me so I was nodding my head 'yes' to everything. I really liked the roll. I don't know if you call it a Cuban roll but it's the fat version of a hoagie roll. It was nicely toasted. The meat was okay. I would have liked more meat. The sauces were very tasty without being overly hot. The sauce really made the sandwich. The lettuce and tomato were nice and fresh.

a half eaten sandwich and a cup of coffee

Got 3 different types of sandwiche, the meat was dry no flavor, I asked for cheese and mayo barely had any cheese or mayo the meat tasted like dirty burnt grill. the drinks were not good either. spent 85 dollars deff not worth it at all. I love se to get their sandwiches back in the day but they are not what they use to be. so disappointed not worth the money or time.

My Cubano, would've been much better without the lettuce, now I know I how to order next time.

A pretty laid back/local joint. You can feel a bit out of place the first time here since everyone seems to know each other and the menu inside out. None of this really matters however since the amazing aroma of the food will overtake all your senses. The menu has pictures as well as English descriptions so it's great for Spanish-illiterates like myself. I opted for the Cuban sandwich since I've never had an authentic one and it's the one people seem to be getting here. I also had a mango juice but the mango was a bit too sweet. The food does take awhile to come out. My Cubano was huge! My cashier asked I I wanted everything on it and I didn't know any better so I said "yes". I wish I had opted for no lettuce as it made the sandwich very American and soggy. Aside from that though, the sandwich was delicious, the three meat had different textures yet combined in a surprisingly harmonious flavor profile. The pork does taste porky though, not by much but you can tell you were eating pork. Overall, it was a cheap and delicious joint, I will be back to try their other items.

A small dive with really good and fresh sandwiches

I have been looking for a place that makes decent Cuban sandwiches, in my proximity. I have gone to so many restaurants and cafes in the area and none of them have come close to an authentic Cubano. My husband said there is a little spot called El Punto in north Philly and they have all types of Latin American sandwiches. So I decided we should go because I really had a craving for a cubano. We arrived it was in the middle of the "rough around edges" part of Philly but Im ok with that..I will go anywhere as long as there will be good food. OH MAN... I am so glad I did go.. It is nothing fancy...so be prepared if you ever decide to go. The menu is has a lot of variety of sandwiches and freshly squeezed juices. So I ordered a Cuban and boy I was not disappointed!! There pernil was fresh and so flavorful. And they were generous with the meats in the sandwich. I have found my new spot to eat fresh hot sandwiches, especially the Cuban!

Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday haven't been here in over year but only because I live the suburbs. This place is so damn good. I love pork so I had the Pernil sandwich with everything. I ordered French fries made to order also nice hot an fresh. They had my favorite cake Tres Leche so I was a happy girl. So don't sleep on this place it is so good. You can eat in or take out either way you won't be disappointed.

My oh my! These sandwiches are to die for! My favs are the pastrami and Cuban sandwiches. They are juicy and bursting with flavor. The wait time is a bit slow but definitely worth it. I like to believe that it takes a bit hence it's fresh lol. Do not let the look of the place fool you and go on in

This place is a hidden gem nestled in a rough part of the city but it won't stop my white ass from going in there for what I think are the finest, tastiest sandwiches in the city, even over our beloved cheesesteaks! They use amoroso rolls, flattened and toasted so you get great texture between the bread and meat in each bite. Make the effort to stop in here, you won't be disappointed. Clean place and friendly service as well!

Not tough but a nice, soft seeded sub roll. Seeing it arrive was a little overwhelming but I kinda thought the thing was light and was easy to finish off 1/2. The Fig and Pig - the fig jam was outstanding. Great sweetness with the saltiness from the prosciutto and then to top it off, the crunch of the cutlets. Excellent. As I was leaving, I saw a cutlet, with mutz, broccoli rabe, and roasted red peppers. I WILL be back for that. That looked amazing. Service was very friendly, prompt. We sat down and within a few minutes, our sandwiches came out. Looks like they were working on takeout / delivery orders and I thought, oh crap, am i behind all of that. We admired the little smiley face on the pancakes! They were so cute. The breakfast sandwich was good, but just okay. It wasn't anything special. I thought the sauce was hot sauce, but it was more of a barbecue sauce dip. I appreciated being able to sub the avocado in the sandwich over the meat without an extra charge to make it vegetarian. Overall, I get the hype, but try to get there early to avoid a long wait. The pancakes are delightful, but very sweet and syrup soaked, so I could only eat about a quarter of it. I'd recommend splitting! Also the cost wasn't bad either - the whole meal for three entrees, taxes, and a tip was pretty average for brunch in the city, costing us each (we split all the food in half) roughly $30.

I went to Middle Child a few weeks ago just after 3, only to find it closes at 3. Today I returned, around 1, and there was a good crowd there having lunch. I ordered the Surfer, and the Hash Brown Potatoes. The Surfer is Middle Child's most popular sandwich. It's made on a Ciabatta bun, and has a thick layering of tender, lean, House Turkey breast, with melty Swiss cheese, arugula, blueberry chutney, and Duke's mayo. It's hard to describe just how delicious this sandwich was. My biggest concern was the Ciabatta bun - it's not one of my favorites, as I've found them to be tough and difficult to bite through. My fears were quickly put to rest after the first bite! The bun had a slightly crispy exterior - and when I followed through with my first bite, the tender, soft interior of the Ciabatta was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it complemented the thick savory Turkey, arugula, chutney and mayo! It was one of the best Turkey sandwiches I've had. Now, if that wasn't enough, don't forget, I ordered the Hash Brown Potatoes. It said Hash Browns on the blackboard, see attached picture, but these 'weren't your Mama's hash browns'! They are described online as Latka'd Hash Browns. They are thick crispy squares that combine a potato pancake latke with a hash brown texture. The interior reminded me of my mother's potato kugel, which I still reminisce about. In one word, those fried crispy potato squares were outstanding. It's 'a must try' and goes so well with the Surfer! Last, but not least, the Limeade! It was so refreshing! Not too tart, not too sweet... just right! I'll be returning to Middle Child in the not too distant future!

Turkey was tender, bread (ciabatta I think?) held together fine even though the sandwich was pretty loaded. Definitely a lean-over-the-plate kind of sandwich, got some chutney on my fingers, but that's kind of expected with a sandwich like this I guess. Also got one of the latke hash browns on the side and that thing didn't last long at all - crispy outside, soft in the middle, I finished it before I was even halfway through my sandwich. Might've been the better item honestly, don't tell the sandwich that.

Tucked to the side of Human Robot, a low-key, high vibe spot for a cold brew and good chat with a imbibed local, Poe's offers a nice variety of seemingly tantalizing creations that leave your taste buds bracing to bite down on the first bite. Between the chicken cutlet, pork and chopped steak options ( beef or chicken,) there are plenty of inventive names and toppings that sound enticing. But unfortunately, what we were presented with fell short. I was craving something that that was salty and acidic but also meaty and vegetal and so I opted for the "Gabbygool." This came with a thinly fried chx cutlet, fresh mozz, spicy capicola, roasted red bell pepp's, fresh spinach, basil pesto, balsamic glaze and a hefty sprinkle of red pepper flakes. This was just O.K. The seeded Sarcones loaf it came on felt like it was a day old and the chicken cutlet was fried well past doneness. The other ingredients meshed well, but all in all, it was a "meh" and definitely not worth the price when there are places in the area that make salivation-worthy sandos at similar price-points. The other option we ordered was the "Weedman" which came with pulled pork, sliced long hots, pickled carrots, sliced cucumbers, cilantro and a schmear of sriracha mayo. This was better than the former, with the fatty pork helping to add some moisture to the well-aged bread. The toppings, however, felt like after thoughts and the rawness of the heavy handed carrots and too thick cucumbers made this another "meh." Though we ate, we weren't satisfied and so despite the good reviews and chill vibes, I probably won't ever be visiting Poe's joint again unless some shifts happen with the quality and preparation of the goods. All in all, Poe's is a good spot to drop into if you're in the neighborhood, other sandwich joints in the area are closed and you're looking to catch a game or throw back a few cold ones but don't expect your mind to be blown.
