Great southern buffet with plenty of options. Waitresses never let the tea run out. Felt like eating in your grandmother's kitchen.

    Good eating!

Pretty good buffet. Some very interesting very southern items. They need a few more vegetables and don't go looking for anything healthy.

On March 19, 2026 I decided to go here with my parents ( along with my husband and two kids) since…read morewe are here visiting them and seldomly have a chance to dine at a Golden Corral. Since it has been a while, I called to check the prices. The call is a recording and for pricing the caller is supposed to price 2. So that's what I did. For the time that we were going, the recording clearly says that Early Bird pricing is from 1 to 3 with drinks included for $11. 49( or $11.99). For Seniors the pricing is similar but it's 11 to 4. We arrived before 3 and I was charged for drinks plus 12.49 for each meal. I went ahead and paid so that I could join my parents at the table. As I processed the pricing I asked the waitress and she said that that price is Early Bird Senior pricing, implying that there isn't a separate Early Bird and Senior price. That is not what the recording says. The "heading" for each price is clear and separate. So I asked to speak to a manager. Instead of him trying to understand what I was saying, he barely listened to the recording via the number that I dialed for that location and he defiantly told me that he wasn't changing his price and that HIS price is clearly on the board and that he was not changing it. This was the worse manager interaction I've ever had and he had no concern for what I was saying and couldn't have cared less. I couldn't leave my parents there and not join them so I didn't ask for a refund. So I quickly filled out the survey-making it known here that he is getting over on customers and doesn't care. He could have nicely refunded the difference and apologized for the misunderstanding and made himself a note to fix what was causing that confusion. Or, even if he couldn't extend a refund, he could have done something. He didn't do anything at all. It was clear that all he cared about was me just being another number in his restaurant that just so happened to be full at the time. Since he didn't want to treat me as a valued customer after me giving him more than one chance to correct the problem, I'm making it known here that that manager only cares about your money. If you call the number for this location it is not going to match what is on the menu in the restaurant as you get ready to check out. I also told customers as I was leaving to make sure that they are being charged correctly. He was so defiant and had no regard for me as I customer, I was almost speechless. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to spark a louder reaction from me but I didn't let it go that far. I won't be back there- especially if he is there and you all who are thinking about going there...watch your pennies. Update: The manager called to say the recording says that the prices are subject to change without notice. Even if that's true, he still missed the point. The price misunderstanding is only part of the problem. My point was in how he handled the situation, how he talked to me disrespectfully, and in how he handled the misunderstanding disrespectfully. He could have desclated it easily and a phone call with an empty " I'm sorry" doesn't make it any better. He only did that bc hos managers and owners said to.

My wife did two…read moredifferent AI restaurant searches and Martha's Place came up on both searches, as highly recommended and one of the best-known country cooking / soul food spots in Montgomery. Martha's Place it is... Upon arrival, Martha's place looked very upscale. Very nice building and many Mercedes and Cadillacs were parked out front. We started to wonder if we'd wandered into some rich neighborhood where the prices would be sky high! We walked in and a young lady greeted us and told us that lunch was $14 including a drink. GREAT! Everyone in the restaurant was amiable and helpful. (Staff and customers). We went to the buffet and loaded our plates with beautifully fried chicken and meatloaf for our proteins. For our sides we had collards, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas a couple of pieces of cornbread and some banana pudding for dessert. Then, the first weird thing happened. As we took our seats, the waiter that helped us get seated, told us that they only had one fork and one knife. We assumed he meant he would go back to the kitchen (or the dishwasher, or wherever) and get us another set. Meanwhile, the food looked SO GOOD, we immediately began sharing the fork and taking turns. MAN! THIS FOOD WAS GREAT! After a couple of minutes, we noticed the second weird thing... we were the only two white folks in the entire, crowded restaurant. And there were LOTS OF PEOPLE. They also do a huge to go business, so, the buffet station stays pretty busy with people coming and going. But, during the entire time we were there, there was not a single non-black customer in the house, except us. Not an employee. Not a customer. Not even a to go customer, just passing through - NOBODY. After about 5 or 6 minutes of taking turns with the fork, we decided our server must've forgotten about us. So, my wife went and asked and was informed they still didn't have any forks. (No. We were not being singled out, as my wife heard them tell another customer the same thing.) My wife asked if they had some plastic utensils, used for to go orders. They were able to oblige. Back to the food... The fried chicken was as good as any I've ever had and much better than any I've had in recent memory. The vegetables were also seasoned and prepared as good as any I've ever had - in a restaurant OR at home. The cornbread didn't have real corn in it, (like I prefer) but it was still some KILLER CORNBREAD. And the nanner puddin' was off the charts. I REALLY WANT some more of that nanner puddin'!! The staff were friendly and helpful and I have no idea why we were the only white folks in attendance. Maybe it was just a weird coincidence. But, I'll tell you this. The nice people at this restaurant KNOW HOW TO COOK. And I highly recommend this restaurant to ANYBODY -- No matter what color you are! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and we look forward to dining there again, the next time we pass through Montgomery. Go here. You won't get a better country meal - anywhere. P.S. You might want to bring a fork.

Outstanding Recognition for Kaycee S. at Wind Creek Wetumpka…read more I absolutely have to take the time to recognize Kaycee S., the bathroom attendant at Wind Creek Wetumpka, because she truly made an impression on me during my visit. First, the job she was doing deserves recognition all by itself. I witnessed the amount of work she was putting into keeping the front entrance restroom clean, tidy, and sanitary. Unfortunately, some adults were coming into the restroom and leaving behind unbelievable messes, including toilets that had not been flushed, feces that needed to be cleaned, and even soiled adult diapers. These are things nobody really thinks about when they walk into a clean public restroom, but somebody has to clean it up. Kaycee was that somebody, and she handled it with such professionalism and grace. What impressed me even more was her beautiful spirit while doing it. Despite having such an unpleasant and demanding job to handle at that moment, she was still smiling, sociable, friendly, and welcoming. She never allowed what she was cleaning up to change the way she interacted with the guests around her. She even looked out for my belongings for me, which I greatly appreciated. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. You can tell when someone is simply being polite because it is their job, and you can also tell when someone genuinely has a good spirit. Kaycee has that kind of spirit. I love when I run across people like her because you don't encounter that type of energy every day. Some people have a natural ability to make an environment feel brighter just by being themselves, and Kaycee definitely lights up a room. Her smile, personality, kindness, and willingness to help stood out just as much as how hard she was working. It would have been very easy for someone dealing with those kinds of restroom conditions to become frustrated or unpleasant, but that wasn't what I saw from Kaycee. I saw someone taking pride in her work while still treating the people around her with kindness and respect. Wind Creek Wetumpka, you have an exceptional employee in Kaycee S., and I sincerely hope management recognizes her. The employees doing the difficult jobs behind the scenes are sometimes the easiest to overlook, but they are also a major reason guests are able to enjoy a clean and comfortable environment. Kaycee, your hard work did not go unnoticed. More importantly, your beautiful spirit did not go unnoticed either. Thank you for your kindness, your smile, your conversation, for looking out for my belongings, and for taking such pride in what you do. Keep being exactly who you are because you truly light up a room! You are appreciated!

This place doesn't deserve a single star, but unfortunately that's the minimum required to leave a…read morereview. My uncle and I have been making a two-hour trip to Wind Creek locations in Alabama for months, and what we've experienced is beyond frustrating--it's a consistent pattern that feels completely stacked against players. When you factor in the time, fuel, and money just to get there, the experience is flat-out unacceptable. The payouts are consistently terrible. Not just "we had a bad night"--I'm talking about repeated trips, across weekdays and weekends, where machines barely hit at all. You can walk the entire floor and see the same thing: people visibly frustrated, hardly anyone winning, and machines that feel like they're designed to take and never give back. Out of all the times we've gone, there was only one stretch--around February--that the machines seemed to pay anything back. Every other visit has followed the same pattern of extremely low or nonexistent payouts. Here's the bigger issue that people need to understand: Alabama does NOT have traditional casino regulation or oversight like other states. These aren't fully regulated gaming environments with enforced payout standards and transparency. That lack of accountability shows, and it's the players who pay the price. If you're already driving any significant distance, do yourself a favor and go to another state where casinos are actually regulated, audited, and required to meet fair payout standards. At least there, you know there's some level of oversight protecting the customer. Bottom line: save your time, save your money, and avoid Wind Creek casinos in Alabama altogether. There are far better--and far more transparent--options elsewhere.
