Mimi is amazing. Every time I come in there with stubby hands and walk out feeling like Sailor Moon. Really glad to have such a great nail artist at a location that is walkable from my house! She always does a precise, clean job every time. My recent visit was a walk-in - I drove in straight from work on Friday at 1:45. Arrive early if your appointment is near this time, parking is almost impossible due to a weekly church event across the street in which the patrons take up all the spots in the salon's parking lot and around the block. After searching for well over 30 minutes, I parked illegally before it became too late. (This is not the fault of the salon, just keep in mind the importance of arriving early on Friday afternoons). At all other times the parking situation has been fine. Luckily Mimi was very understanding of the difficult parking situation and was very relaxed about still taking my walk-in. I was 10/10 stressed out by the time I finally sat down at her table and I'm glad that she didn't make me feel bad about being late. Pretty disappointed with my recent manicure. Nice they accepted me as a walk in but there was no communication with nail tech, and she cut my nails below the skin after spending weeks growing them out. My fault for not speaking up after the first nail was cut. File shape is uneven, and now all my nails are different lengths. Before manicure and after of nail length pictured, along with inspiration picture and final product. Overall style didn't turn out great either, probably because there wasn't much left to file/shape but at the end of the manicure she said my inspo pic was someone who had acrylic and I just wanted gel on my natural nails. Would have picked a solid color if I had known the design wasn't possible in the first place. Otherwise salon was clean and had nice vibes, and staff were polite. They offered to repaint them, but that doesn't remedy the damage that was done to my real nails. Would have rather gotten a refund. read more

That and talking bad about your customers during the session. -10/10 Considering all the high stars - I was shocked by my experience. Avoid this place if you value cleanliness and a good experience. I came to get powder dip done. I'm okay with the use of a drill, but who drills off gel? You are supposed to remove it by buffing and soaking. I asked her to remove it by buffing and she gave such a attitude. Absolutely appalled by the customer service here. Two of my nails were thinned out and I ended up getting a cut on my nail. They don't use new buffing tools; but used ones that are crusty. Disgusting. Long story short - I left with gel nails that are janky and the girl that did my nails Mai Tran, she was rude and was calling me extra/ annoying (làm phiền) in Vietnamese for asking me to be gentle. I asked to keep my shape round and it's uneven, the sides are also cut. I have attached a picture of my nails to this review. For the first time ever, I tried dip ombré nails specifically for my wedding. Mimi did an amazing job that after a month I came back for the same set. I wasn't over my bridal era and I definitely wasn't over my nails! I was worried my first set would look funky and weird because a couple of nails broke a few days before getting them done. Somehow Mimi did her magic, and they were all even without shortening them too much, giving the natural look I wanted. I had a disappointing experience here and don't think I'll be coming back unless there really isn't availability elsewhere. When I arrived, the lady at the front desk was coughing a lot, and continued to be coughing throughout my time here. That was a bit concerning and inconsistent with all the signs they had saying to stay home if sick. She was wearing a mask though. Still, a bad first impression. I came here for a manicure and showed the technician a picture of what I wanted -- white with blue glitter. She initially didn't look carefully and thought it was ombre, looked at my nails, and said they're too short, and they're inconsistently cut, basically a lot of negative comments. I showed her that another salon had done my toes (also cut relatively short) with glitter and she said "well we can't do that here." I didn't want to make her do anything she was uncomfortable with so I settled on a flat color. However, she asked to look at the design again and then said actually she could do it. Unfortunately, the results were lackluster. Throughout the time she did my nails I felt she was a bit careless or at least not as detail oriented as most of my previous experiences at other salons. She put the wrong polish on a nail and had to restart, and there were various other mistakes. I tried to overlook all this, but the lack of detail really showed on how my nails looked afterward. She used a tool to spread the glitter around, and the tool left thin line streaks. The edges were also very sloppy and I had polish peeling off the edges for the next day. I also did a wax and that went fine. This place does take credit card. read more

My sister and I decided to give this place a try. It's such a cute spot in an area you wouldn't think about trying. There are plenty of parking spots (street and a parking lot.) We were lucky enough to walk in when they weren't busy. Because it's such a small shop with limited employees I would recommend getting an appointment. Which you can schedule on Yelp. I did over hear two people scheduling an appointment online and they happened to schedule the same appointment. So, give them a call to confirm there wouldn't be a wait. When coming in you can save $2 if you pay with cash! Every bit counts! So, bring cash if you can. But they do take card if you prefer to pay with card. I love the fact that they have an autoclave to sterile their tools. Not many salons have that which brings a higher chance of getting a fungal infection from their tools. And I work at a dermatology clinic and those are HARD to get rid of. The reason why I didn't give a 5 star review is because I felt she could have done a little better compared to another staff member who worked on my sisters toes. Aside that I will be coming back. I didn't get the name of the pedicure tech but the pedicure was good! She scrubbed mg heels really well and her work was clean. I didn't give 5 stars because she didn't clean up my nail bed. I also didn't give 5 stars because I didn't see her or the other tech sanitize both areas after I left them. Both techs there were wearing masks and there were barriers and hand sanitizers throughout. This is my 1st time at the shop. I found a really cute color way set by Annie from another customer's post and didn't really care who did my nails so didn't request for her. 1. I went to the wrong shop across the street because WAZE told me to make a right even though it is on the left and on the 2nd floor. This is my fault and glad they can still accept my appointment after I got my pedicure from across the street. I already sat down and started so felt bad to get up and leave. 2. I also requested manicure gel + regular pedi which was also my fault because I don't get nails done often so I get confused. Happy they educated me the correct way to request an appointment next time. 3. Walked across the street to get my dip nails and didn't have to wait which was great. The older lady was really nice but when she filed my nails with a tiny filer which cause 3 fingers skin to rip open and one bled. I understand situations like this might happen during cuticle trimming but filing? Anyways, the shape and color was what I wanted and it was nice for the most part. I just wish my fingers are not in pain. Side note: since I got dip powder they should really require customers to wash their hands or wipe their hands prior to putting their fingers in there. They didn't require me to so I can't imagine they require others to and not sanitary during or even after COVID. I still tip the lady well because I know things happen and she didn't mean it. Before I left the table she said she'll be careful next time. So I am leaving a 3 star for now and will update the review after my next visit soon. PS. Make sure to get there 5-10mins early and read the signs to ensure you are at the right location and don't make the same mistake as me. This is my 3rd time going to Julie's and again she crushed my image! They take their time and make sure they do their best! I gave her the picture of what I wanted and asked her to make it what she could. Her prices are totally reasonable and cheaper than the salon next door. I love that this is a quaint studio where it feels personal and not overwhelming with a lot of ppl. I've had great conversations with the artist each time I've gone. My dip powder nails with all these designs was $78 and a basic pedicure with regular polish was $30. But there's nothing "basic" about the pedicure, my feet are so smooth and she takes her time cleaning up the cuticles on my toe nails. Great salon! I'll only be going here!
