I'm extremely particular and I have sensitive nail beds, so finding someone I can actually commit to has always been a challenge. Lori changed that completely. She really listened to me, took her time, and was so careful with my sensitive nail beds that I had ZERO pain which is a first for me. I walked out feeling like I was in good hands the entire time. And the customer service? Top tier, truly. The front desk associate was so sweet and welcoming, she set the tone for the whole visit. I'm now a loyal customer and I don't say that lightly. I typically show her a couple inspo pics and tell her what I want and she consistently executes the vision every time. 10/10 recommend Lori. I have definitely been a loyal customer to this place for a at least a few good years, bringing many, many other people here with me & referred many others. Lovely menu of services and especially pedicures. They generally have been fast, friendly & do decent nail work! But I feel like the more that you frequent them, the worse they treat you. Make you wait longer, are less and less friendly to you and less generous with offering perks like water, champagne or the heated neck pad, etc. and I get it when they're super busy - I'm not completely clueless. But today wasn't too crazy. I think I came in at the tail end of a busy wave. But not all pedicure seats were taken and I didn't have to wait too long. I called ahead to see if they had availability for mani/pedi and they said they said, "ok, you come now" so I rushed to get there - but could've taken my time. They weren't quite ready. Not the end of the world. I came in to check in and the computer was tied up, so I asked if I needed to sign in and the owner snapped like it was my fault it was tied up. Ok, I'm not in a huge rush so I remind myself to be patient. Today was the absolute worst. I will not be going back. EVER. I want to say, Theresa and Hannah were awesome. Excellent customer service, fast and friendly. But, I go not just for nails to be done. I go for the experience. Pampering. Massage. Lovely citrus or floral scents and aromatherapy. Friendly environment. Today I was squished between people - and I'm not talking about the two lovely ladies that were doing MY mani/pedi. I welcome that. I'm talking about the person doing nails on the woman they sat to my right - despite there being at least a couple of other chairs available. She just interjected herself there, completely invading any sense of personal space, yelling over me as she spoke to employees, placing nail tools, nail polish and trash on the table/tray connected to my chair, even though my (open) drink and phone were clearly there. Yuck. Instead of using the usual table they place on top of your lap or even the table connected to the person whose nails she was working on - she just spread out everywhere. I get it's. She's the owner. It's ALL yours. But it was loud, uncomfortable and not the least bit relaxing or enjoyable. It gave me a headache and I'm done. So long. Too bad because the two folks that did my nails were great. And most that work there are pretty good. But leadership starts at the top and if that's how owners behave, it's time to move on. I've been here twice now. First time was a couple years ago and more recently on a Friday. I mainly wanted to remove my gel nails so I tried my luck with a walk-in and was surprised to find it empty inside. I thought it was weird that there was no pillow rest under for my forearms, just a towel laid out. Awkward for my arm and uncomfortable for my elbow. My nail tech (I didn't catch his name) was friendly, but his energy felt chaotic/ erratic. Even though the place was pretty dead, he stayed distracted, talking with others, and constantly looking around every two seconds while filing my nails, applying nail polish, everything. His attention was elsewhere, so my nails came out shaped unevenly, polish had bubbles. Wasn't provided a fan to help dry my nails. Also felt like the owner(?) kept coming by trying to upsell me even after politely declining and explaining I just wanted to remove my gel nails and get regular polish. May be why my service felt super rushed and haphazard, idk, but the whole vibe made me not want to return. read more

I was greeted immediately by Thim at reception. She is so sweet and made the experience also fun. Lewis has done an excellent job on my Gel X each time. In fact, I tried Gel X for the first time at this nail spa with Lewis and have been getting it ever since. Today I brought a picture of an intricate nail design and Lewis did an amazing job!! I can honestly say I've supported more than my fair share of establishments over the years, but when my not so little daughter came home one day raving about this place, I knew I simply had to give them a shot. The moment I stepped into Golden Nail bar, I was so pleasantly surprised by the luxurious interior and greeted warmly by the staff. The ambience is so elegant, it definitely lives up to its name solely based upon aesthetics. From the golden accents and beautiful decor throughout the salon, to the beautiful glass chandeliers, this place is a sight to behold. I mean, it's giving bougie high-end gorgeousness. But, as the saying goes, beauty is more than skin deep ,and as captivated as I was by the beautiful interior, I couldn't help but wonder if the services would be just as mind blowing. I was paired with two of the most excellently professional, attention to detail nail technicians, Nancy and Tracy, who go above and beyond in providing me with such a decadent experience each time I have gone and now, I only request them. In addition, their professionalism and fun-loving demeanor keeps me coming back. Price point is a little more on the expensive side, but I do firmly believe you get what you pay for. Every place has its quirks, and unfortunately I've noticed those minor things such as techs that "camp out" on the pedi chairs when they don't have clients and even nodding off here and there during non-peak times as well as loitering and observing clients receiving services which can feel a bit aca-awkward when you're trying to relax and enjoy while they simply sit or stand around staring and speaking in another language without acknowledging the client whatsoever, but when it comes to me, I always note and attempt to engage with a smile and a hello to them. No biggie, however it can take away from the experience the actual nail techs working hard are attempting to provide. You know, it's like Angela Johnson's stand up routine about nail shop cringe moments. I've never experienced or observed Nancy or Tracy partaking in any of that, thankfully, and they remain focused and dedicated to the job at hand which I am so grateful for. Went here on a week day around 4PM and they were able to take me immediately which was nice. I wanted to try this place since my regular place was booked today. First you check in on the screen. I wanted a mani pedi. The two men helped me. The gentleman who did my pedicure was great, loved that service and how my toes looked after. I would recommend coming back for pedicures. As for the manicure, I asked for gel X with a simple flower design. The guy was nice and took his time to clean and shape my nails but once it came to the design, I asked him to fix the flowers about 3-4 times because I didn't like it. He said in the beginning "Ok simple, I can do it". Definitely didn't follow my reference picture. He just placed a bunch of dots everywhere and didn't even try to make it look nice and fix the petals. He was rushing towards the end and by then I just wanted to get out of there. Over priced for quality Here's why: * Unprofessional energy The younger nail techs were joking around, loud, and having inappropriate conversations. The vibe felt chaotic and unprofessional. The only ones who seemed focused and professional were the older techs. * Pushy on upselling It's not about the price. When I clearly say no more than once, that needs to be respected. I shouldn't have to repeat myself multiple times. * Not listening to clients My tech (I believe her name was Nancy) repeatedly tried to change the color I specifically chose. After telling her several times what I wanted, she still brought other colors with an attitude, as if my choice wasn't good enough. * Quality missed the mark The nails weren't shaped cleanly. The edges are sharp, the polish is already chipping, and the acrylic feels thin like it will break. For the price and time spent, the work should be much better. Overall, the vibe was off, the service felt pushy, and the quality did not match the cost. Listen Up Ladies, I've tested just about all the nail salons between Tennyson St. in Hayward and all of Union City (most of Fremont too), Believe me when I tell you: "STOP LOOKING, THIS IS THE SPOT!!" The Nails shown in the pictures were done by Tiffany, (Boss Lady). My nails turn out exactly how I wanted them every single time. They last a long time too, 3-4 weeks, probably longer if I didn't want to switch up the designs. Their prices are extremely reasonable they don't charge you for every single little thing. They are located right in Union Landing , (just off the freeway), in Union City. There's always tons of parking close to the salon. Here's some background on me, in case you're wondering what makes me qualified to give nail salon advise. Fair question: I've been getting my nails done since I was 18 (not unlike most of you, I'm sure) In this time I've learned to fear the drill. I've been burned and nicked, been sliced with unseasoned nail files welded by unseasoned nail techsI've had fat wide nails, too thick bulky nails, uneven nails, overly curved nails, nails that all broke right on the Apex 1 week, and much much more..... Listen Ladiez, if you don't take my advice and go to "THE GOLDEN NAIL BAR", then listen to my advice on where not to go. I'll give you my #1 all time pick: Ready?..... #1. DO NOT GO TO "FAIRY NAILS" on Tennyson in Hayward (next Walgreens in the shopping strip). NOPE, NOPE, NOPE. UNLESS..... you LIKE to get every nail fixed 2-3x in a week. Please accompany me on this nightmare journey I've learned that bad nail salons leave obvious signs. Let's see if we can spot them: 1st time you go back and show them your jacked up nails, they're like "who did your nails" with a shocked look on their face because they couldn't believe you got it done there. They were that bad. They quickly say "OK let's just fix those". And you can tell they're embarrassed they don't want the other customers to see how bad your nails looked. Sign #1 of a Bad Nail Salon: They should've just done them ALL again because they were ALL going to lift soon, because it was a crappy job!!! Instead, they just did a Band-Aid job and fixed the ones that were obviously lifting right then. If they just pressed on the other ones a little bit, they would've lifted right away. Get this: Before I even got home, I turned around and went back with two more lifted nails. Sign #2 of a Bad Nail Salon: They should've just done all the remaining nails right then, but nope just fixed those two. Less than a week and I went back again with all the rest of the nails lifted. So they thought it might be a good idea just to do a whole new set. Then they literally started ripping off the nails that they'd just done a few days ago along with those lifting. It hurt so bad... I could tell that my top layer of nail was gone. Sign #3 Bad Nail Salon: They starts lifting again a few days after I get the new set. Most likely because they had very little Nail left to hang onto. I have literally never in my life returned to a nail salon more than one time after getting my nails done, yet I'd been here four times within two weeks. Sign #4 of a Bad Nail Salon: They start blame game. It's gotta be you because it's not us. They start with: -Your nail beds are too short for long nails -you have oily nail beds -your nail beds are made for fat square short nails They fixed the lifted nails, then had the nerve to say that they'd see me back here before the week ended with them all lifted again because my nails aren't made for long nails, and at that time they wouldn't be doing them all over again. They weren't wrong, because before the end of the week, I had another four nails lifted. At that point in time I wouldn't have let them touch me again because I knew wrecked my nails. I left my fingers to heal for a month and then went to a nail tech I found in Fremont who did GelX. She literally had tears in her eyes when she saw my hands and I asked her what was wrong, and she said she feels so sad that somebody did that to me. She refused to put any nails on me. She basically doctored the mess until I was able to have Nails put on again. She moved, which is why I found Golden Nail Bar. read more

I've come here a few times before and it's always hit or miss depending on who you get. I've gotten the best nails ever here (from Jasmine a year ago) and also probably the worst. Today, I asked for gel x ombre French tip, but the airbrush machine was broken, so a classic French tip was the only option available, because the tech didn't know how to do it. (I only note that because I asked for the exact same thing a year ago and Jasmine did it perfectly without an airbrush tool. I didn't know that was a thing until today.) I showed my nail tech my goal picture and wanted them filed in a square-oval, but what I ended up with is just so far from my goal. One of the first things I noticed is she fit all of the gel X extensions to one hand. Usually, the nail tech fits every finger individually, but I got everything fitted to one hand, so some of the nails on the other hand will lift faster than the others from not fitting properly/squeezing the natural nail. As a customer, there's only so much "correcting" you feel comfortable doing when someone is not giving you what you asked for, but assures you, "I saw the picture. I know." In general, they have very friendly service, but it's a very inconsistent product based on who you get. I noticed other groups being offered water bottles, mimosas, etc. by more attentive employees. I debated writing this review, but I feel it's necessary to share my experience. I came in after work on Friday for a pedicure and a full set. They took me in right away and everything was going well at first. The issues started when it was time to choose the color and design. I showed my nail tech an inspiration photo with a specific shade of green. When I couldn't find a similar color in the set he initially showed me, he kept suggesting I switch to a chrome color instead, which I didn't want. After a bit of back and forth, I eventually agreed to change the color since I assumed they didn't have the green I wanted. When he started the design, he had to remove and redo it multiple times. By the end, he asked if I liked it but said something along the lines of "if not, it's too late," which made me feel like I didn't really have a say at that point. I also had to pick up my kids, so I didn't have time to ask for more changes. Once I got home and looked more closely, I noticed large gaps between my real nails and the tips he applied. The design also looked nothing like the inspiration photo and was poorly painted. My biggest concern was the shaping and the overall application. I went back the next day to see if they could fix it. The staff was nice about letting me come in, but they assigned me the same tech. I showed him the gaps (which had already collected dirt and food because they were so large) and pointed out the issues with the shape and design. He started filing them, but I asked if he could soak them off instead because the original application was done so poorly. I asked twice, but he declined and insisted he could fix it by adding more product. As I suspected, the nails ended up looking very chunky. At that point, I didn't want to keep arguing since it was clear he didn't want to remove them. During the appointment he mentioned something about not wanting me to spend more money and that he usually charges $25, which I didn't fully understand at the time. At the end, I found out he was charging me $25 to fix the nails he had done incorrectly the day before. After already spending about two hours and $140 the previous day, having to come back, spend more time, and pay an additional $25 to correct the work didn't sit right with me. It's disappointing because I came here based on recommendations from friends and really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I won't be returning. read more
