Went for dinner here before going to see Shatner at the Rialto..My husband had the prime rib which he loved..I had a lobster sandwich which was good also. This place use to be the Department and I'm so glad the ambiance is about the same! Our server, Allie, was wonderful..but..she was running her butt off as were the other servers. I found out later that the owners cut back the staff for the evening..Really?! Saturday night.Show at the Rialto..and the place was packed.. Made reservations for after a recital at the Rialto. We get there and they closed the dining room. Too late to go anywhere else with a 6yr old so we sat in the bar. Service sucked. Never asked if we wanted more drinks. Not sure what happened to this place??? They could have at least changed the music to something other than not family friendly music. Unfortunately I was seated at a table where a new server was working. My wife ordered raw oysters and they brought out Rockefeller. I ordered the brushetta and they were made on some type of tortilla chip, to me they were average at best. I ordered a mix drink and for some reason the server made the drink and not the bartender (something I've never seen). Apparently the server didn't make it correctly because the bartender asked me to taste it. She said I watched her make it and she didn't make it right. It tasted decent but it wasn't till the bartender made it correctly and I tasted it that I realized the big difference in taste. Then the server disappears for well over 15 minutes. Not only did we have no drinks but the 2 tables by us never had drinks. Here comes the server with a bucket of ice, backing the bar. I asked the manager why the server is backing the bar when tables are out of drinks. She didn't answer me but did get my drinks. The table behind me ended up leaving without paying because of the poor service. My wife and I both got the Cubano which were very good. I got chips with truffle oil and parmesan my wife got the loaded potato for $3 more which is a joke because all it had on it was some scallions. We also shared the pizza pasta which was alright. Two girls brought out our food and went directly to the bar with our plates because they had no idea where to bring them. I watched them for 3-4 minutes carrying our plates all over the restaurant trying to figure out where to bring them.The bartender and manager apologized several times about the service but not one time did the server apologize for the service. As bad as the service was all they did to make it right was to not charge me for the drink the server made and for a draft beer. Only two things piss me off at a restaurant, poor service and poor food. The service was terrible and the food overall was just over average. Its safe to say I won't be back. read more

Our group of 4 called ahead at 10 to confirm they where still serving food. They close the kitchen at 10:45 but assured us that wouldn't be a problem. We where seated quickly and one of the bar tenders acted as server. She did a great job taking orders and was very attentive. As a group we had the salmon, filet and chicken sandwich and ordered two appetizers. Oddly two of our four entrees came out before the apps. The garlic bread appetizer arrived it was table bread with butter. Don't bother with the garlic bread. The fried ravioli was pleasant but unremarkable. The calamari was well prepared but again unremarkable. Oddly enough, the same marinara sauce with all apps. The rest of the food was quite good and a very good showing for late night. Just moved to the New Lenox area recently and I've been dying to have a downtown bar I can visit for a couple of drinks after a long day of work. I stopped in with a friend to find out on Fridays Juliet's does $5 drink specials which is great (they tasted great) this is genius! My only thing was... as the kitchen was soon to close a lot of staff members were drinking at the bar after working (totally fine) however, as not a employee of Juliet's and as a dining in customer it would have been nice to have gotten more of a faster service for drinks and better service then what the off the clock employees were getting. My friend and I probably would have stayed longer had each drink we ordered not taken so long to come out or in between drinks having to wait for the bartender to come from behind the bar after chatting it up with her coworkers... read more

The bad first - fix the heat. Brrrr!! There was a portable heater near us, set at 64 deg F, and it NEVER STOPPED RUNNING. The baseboard heaters by the way - nope, not a bit of heat coming from them. Good, now that is out of the way, the service was excellent. We had Debbi helping us, and between her and the rest of the staff, we were well-attended. Even the server who hand grates the cheese on to your dish for the bread they provided with oil and on the Bottomless Table Salad was over several times to make sure we were adequately 'cheesed.' The server also brought out a tall carafe of water that was iced and great. We started out with their bottomless table salad - I've had these where it wasn't very good - this was actually very good. It had an excellent dressing, and plenty of fresh greens, cucumbers and tomatos in the salad. We finished our first bowl, and didn't get a second one in anticipation of the entrees. For the main course, I ordered their Flat Iron steak, which came out as I ordered it, and was actually seasoned! Yow - I couldn't find a seasoned steak in Omaha to save my life unless you count two places in Blair. Anyway, my wife had the Orecchiette, which Debbi said was "spicy" - and she was accurate. It had that spice that you eat and that gets you around a minute after the food is gone. Fortunately, Thursday Night was $5 drink night. I tried one of their Old Fashions, which was strong enough for 2 drinks. My wife had their Limoncello Martini, which of the two, I think was the best of them. The entrees were sized right, so we split (well, I split - I think my wife had 4 spoon fulls) a Chocolate Mousse. It melted in your mouth, exactly the way it is supposed to, and capped an excellent meal. For local attractions, you have the Rialto Theater down the street, and you're a few doors away from the Joliet Pinball Arcade, so you can plan a meal around those interesting venues. We had an excellent dinner at Juliet's. I had the chicken roulade with a side of roasted cauliflower which was delicious. My partner had seared scallops with asparagus and a side of green beans. Heather, our server was a delight and totally on top of things. We finished with the orange crème brûlée and a strawberry donut cheesecake both of which I would recommend. The ambiance is spacious with lots of ways to enjoy the place. We were in the main dining room, but there was an upstairs outdoor seating area, as well as bar dining, if you are in a hurry. People were dressed casually (except for a wedding party who were decked out). So, if you find yourself in Joliet, you owe it to yourself to give it a try! An unexpected treasure! read more

Pretty impressive for a first time visit. We were greeted by a polite hostess and seated right away. The atmosphere was very relaxed with still a higher class feel. The service was stellar! You couldn't ask for a better staff making sure you have everything you want! I love the fact bread and cheese was served right away. We ordered the margherita pizza. It was really good minus it could use more cheese. If it had more cheese I would have given this place 5 stars instead of 4. Prices were extremely affordable. I will be back. :) Came back again for a third time. They keep blowing me away! The service isn't always that great but not due to ignorance, but due to being short staffed. Horribly salty, spicy, and greasy! Now, I enjoy spicy Thai and spicy Mexican, and spicy Indian...but nearly everything I ordered was so outrageously salty, spicy and greasy I couldn't enjoy my meal. I ordered the Balsamic Brussel Sprouts, the Diablo Shrimp Pasta, the Bruschetta, the Shrimp Risotto, and the Mushroom and Sausage Soup. The only edible thing was the Shrimp Risotto, but it was swimming in butter. Likewise the Bruschetta was swimming in oil and the Brussel Sprouts were swimming in Balsamic vinegar. The Diablo Shrimp was so badly spicy that I could only eat 2 bites before my eyes were watering, my tongue was on fire, I was coughing and I couldn't speak. The waiter did warn us that it was very spicy. But I've never encountered a dish that was prohibitively spicy. I ordered a very small cocktail that was refreshing, but for $9, not so. The last thing I ordered was the moderately priced almond cannoli. The cheese they use is exquisite. The almonds sweet and chewy. The hostess, though friendly, was not the kind of hostess you would expect in a nice restaurant. The wait staff was prompt and respectful but not so friendly. The parking cost $1.50. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends, as I know their tastes. If you are crazy about salt, grease, and fire-hot spices, you will enjoy Juliet's Tavern. read more

Worst service I've had in a restaurant in a very very long time. Was completely ignored by the server, she made every attempt to avoid any eye contact whatsoever when flying by the tables she was not taking care of. A glass of was never brought, although asked for. Were told by her when flying by 3 times that she was brining bread - which of course never happened. Had to beg to get silverware and a napkin and then it was hastily thrown at us on a flyby. Avoid this place. They make the experience of dining just horrible. It doesn't matter what the food is like if you treat guests this way :-( read more

Seem to be pretty good tasty I didn't care for the mushrooms on my order of mushrooms in Wenzel button General foods not that need to get a little quicker response for the food the kitchen. Service is great. The servers were right there as fast as they could get there. We all seem pretty nice people get along with. Great ambience and I love the brickwork on the inside the way they kept everything as close as they could do it. It seems like a really great place to go and have most of the food or does it seem bad at all? My 1st experience was great and i had an amazing meal. So of course when thinking of a great place to host a special event i called them. I attempted to host a private party and rent the upstairs as well as utilize their catering services but I was extremely disappointed when I called on 3 different occasions, provided all my information and followed up with an email. No response. Poor communication and follow up. They contacted me and apologized for the lack of communication! I was able to make my reservation and have had no problems since the follow up. We were lucky to find this gem after a meet and greet that we attended the night before a wedding at Harrahs. Their late night menu hit the spot for sure! My wife and I went here for dinner and I was very disappointed at the service. It took a very long time for someone to come to our table and greet us and give us water (8-10min). I will give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were just short staffed or someone called off but in the area they are in they need to have the best customer service every day to get people to give positive reviews. That being said, the food was fantastic. I would go here again due to the food and in hopes their service will be better. read more

We were customers of your restaurant for the first time, and everything was great. The food was wonderful, and our server was lovely; in all honesty, we haven't experienced service like that in over two years. We were absolutely happy with every aspect of our dinner. Until we got home and checked our bill. This place expects their customers to shoulder the cost of doing business by charging a credit card fee regardless of your bill total. They're effectively punishing their customers for doing business, and I cannot imagine they'd put so much attention to detail in their food, service, and presentation, and then be foolish enough to pull a stunt like that. Further, I'm embarrassed for their employees to have to explain this fee and why their owner makes such poor business choices. It's unfortunate the owner would rather hold on to the 3% credit card fee than loyal customers who would've definitely been back again and again. read more

Very disappointing. After almost 2 years of not going out due to the Covid-19 pandemic I very occasionally do go out and much prefer to dine outside whenever possible. Juliet's is dine in only and we were going to the Rialto Theatre which brought us to Joliet in the first place. I always want to have a feeling of safety whenever I go out these days and it was 100% lacking here at Juliet's. None of the workers wear a mask, almost none of patrons wear a mask. I was shocked at the attitude of this restaurant and even complained to the Will County Health Department about it. I will not go back to this establishment and encourage like minded folks to skip it as well. The service left a lot to be desired as well. It took a full 30 minutes to receive a drink after ordering, the food service was quicker. read more

We went last night and had fettuccini Alfredo with spinach and lasagna. Lasagna was a bit over cooked and fettuccini lacked spices but overall. The baked wrapped dates as an appetizer were delicious. I came here for a business dinner with coworkers. I thought Juliet's was ok, not great; if I'd paid for it myself I would've been disappointed but thank goodness I didn't have to pay. Food: I got the filet. Everyone at the table got a steak, either ribeye or filet, and we were all asked how we wanted it cooked. Most said they wanted medium rare, I asked for rare and one other person asked for medium. But all the steaks came cooked exactly the same - just past medium rare almost to medium. This was the most disappointing thing to me about the whole meal. Service: It was ok. Struggled a bit getting food out in a timely manner and clearing plates. Other: Our table was extremely cramped for the numbers we had. The table surface was uneven and the chairs were really uncomfortable. Maybe this place just isn't set up for groups? We only had 8 but it seemed like they struggled to accommodate us given how cramped our table was. My last quibble: I've noticed a trend recently where places give out teeny tiny water glasses. I don't really get it, but that's not really the point - the point is that if you're going to give a tiny water glass you need to keep it full and you're going to need to come around with water more often, and at Juliet's this just does not happen often enough. read more

We met some friends for a Christmas dinner at Juliet's last night (Friday night). This is the newest addition to downtown Joliet and every foodie in the county is praying that these downtown restaurants survive and attract more upscale establishments. Juliets is located where "The Department" used to be. The Department was relatively new and updated so when you walk in you will only notice subtle changes. No major overhaul was needed. We utilized the complimentary valet (awesome as some of the lots in this area are spooky as f#%k). We were greeted by a well dressed man who was very pleasant (turned out to be the GM) and were seated quickly. Now, I am always 100% truthful when I review so I have to warn you... it's going to get a little rough from here forward. Our drink order was taken by the GM and eventually we met our server. She was obviously overwhelmed and out of breath. I looked around and realized that the whole restaurant had filled up (approx. 40ish people) and they only had two servers working!! (I found out later that they cut everyone right before it filled up) Everything suffered because of this mistake. We asked for oil and Parmesan cheese, came an hour later; we sat with empty drinks for 10 minutes; we ordered bottomless salad for 8 people and they brought one little bowl of salad and we didn't see another bowl until our entrees were being served. Soooooooo... it can be said that the service was sub-par to say the least. Now, I AM NOT SAYING OUR SERVER WAS AT FAULT! She did the best she could (as well as the GM!) The blame falls to the manager that cut the staff at 6;15 on a Friday night to bare bones coverage. When I own a restaurant I am going to follow one HUGE rule, and all other new restaurants should listen carefully: ------------- HIRE AND STAFF REALLY HEAVY FOR THE FIRST FOUR MONTHS AND DO NOT CUT FOR ANY REASON!!!! WHY? Because waitstaff is cheap. Having your reputation murdered for a couple hundred dollars in payroll is VERY EXPENSIVE!! Now, I really enjoyed the food. The only complaint I really had was the portion sizes on the appetizers is laughably small. They obviously have skills in the kitchen though. We ordered the veal balls (A), Calamari (B), Bacon Dates (C- Try not to burn the shit out of them next time!), Oysters (B). For dinner my wife and I had the Venetian Mussels (B - Over salty) and the Veal Parmigiana (B+). So pretty good especially for Joliet. I will eat here again and so should you. Hopefully they get the staffing issue resolved before they do too much damage to their reputation to survive! I look forward to improving my review next time we dine/drink at Juliet's! Also, the bartender (cute African-american girl) was exceptionally friendly and explained(apologized) for the staffing issue. My friends and I went to Juliet's after the Beer and Brew event on Sat. Aug. 18. Our waiter George was amazing. We were a bit rowdy because we had been out in the sun and had a couple of beers. This place is great! We got to come here last night for their New Year's Eve celebration it was all you can eat and drink for a great price. The restaurant and bar itself is gorgeous, the staff was so much fun and took really good care of us. The chicken piccata was perfect and my friend said he could eat a whole plate of their stuffing lol! The pizza was not good though; idk if they even have that on their regular menu. read more

Sat at the bar and you know how the rest of the story goes, Kimmie the bartender served me up some good drinks =) :Update: this place is a usual stop for me and I like there Margarita pizza, I ordered one one night and the inside pieces of the bottom crust was a little soggy. Later on that night I got to meet the chef and he asked me how everything was, I told him the truth about the crust and he left. About 30 minutes later he comes out with a new pizza and the crust was perfect. I have to say this means a lot to me, this demonstrates quality and care in the product that they produce.
