A small drive thru sandwich shop in a more residential area of town. No frills, just good sized, affordable sandwiches. I got the 5" Cuban pressed (you can get it cold but why?!) with a bag a chips and a bottled soda for like 5 or 6 bucks. The Cuban bread was wide so if a 5" was a decent size. Lots of ham but not much pork and I would have taken more pickles on it. Overall a good sandwich for the price if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Julios's Sandwich Shop is a tiny take-out only place on East Edgewood Drive located in what looks to be an old farm store. They are always busy, with a drive-thru line wrapped around and sandwiches are made to order, so it can be a little bit slow. The lady who works here is super nice though. So far, we've only tried a couple of things on the menu because I've fallen in love with them, and haven't tried anything else. The black beans and rice are as good as homemade. (They do need salt, but most older mom & pop places here in Lakeland are very cautious with the salt as I've come to realize.) The deviled crab is unlike most I've had, crusty on the outside and fluffy, crabby, SPICY goodness on the inside. We only get one each because I could just eat these by the dozen. They are addicting. I do really enjoy their Cuban sandwiches. It's the closest to what we are used to. Sliced ham & roast pork, Swiss cheese, pickle, mustard on a toasted/grilled and pressed Cuban bread. Mmm... Was in lakeland for some errands today.. desperately wanted a GOOD Cuban.. drove to what I thought was ole' Tampa Cubans but I evidently didn't pay attention.. we went to Julio's!! Did not disappoint! The deviled crab roll wasn't too bad but potato ball is better! Cuban was absolutely perfect, could not have been better. Proper pressed and well made! These sandwiches aren't amazing, but they do the job. The drive-thru service is ideal and we were met upon arrival by someone who actually came out to take our order. I frequent this restaurant for breakfast sandwich. This is one of the best breakfast sandwiches you will find in Lakeland. Bread is always crispy and plenty of meat. Plus, they just added bacon to their menu and I added that to my breakfast sandwich yesterday and it was outstanding. I feel like they just keep getting better. It's been a long time since I grabbed a sandwich at Julio's, maybe 4 years. I stopped by this weekend and ordered a Cuban, a salami sandwich and rice and beans. My Cuban was ok. I feel like the quality of meat isn't where you want it to be. My husband liked the salami sandwich. The rice and beans were so extremely bland we couldn't eat more than a bite. It is a morph over "authentic/original". They have a great $5.50 grab n go special of a 5" Cuban (their style-cold cuts, mayo, mustard, pickle), chips & bottled drink. Sometimes the bread's soft, sometimes it's crusty. No substitutions on the special. Get over it. Some of us don't like them full of enough meat for 3 people. Those on a quest for a gourmet meal, cruise elsewhere. The owners have always been friendly & quick. This little Sammy shop used to be great! I'm assuming there is new ownership or something because my recent experience was awful. Let me start off by saying I understand that people have bad days, but if you are in this type of business you need to put that smile on and fake it till you make it... on to the experience.... My husband called our order in for lunch. 2 Cubans pressed with no pickles, we both hate pickles and he clearly said no pickles for both Cubans multiple times to ensure there weren't any pickles, because it ruins the meal for us even if we take the pickles off, the bread is left with soggy pickle juice, yuck!! He also ordered black beans. He gets back and first thing he mentioned was that the woman with mousy brown hair working the window was in a sour mood, she wasn't nice nor smiled or even said HELLO?! Whatever he paid and drove home. As he opened his 10inch Cuban guess what was there, pickles... yep he was mad. There was soggy pickle juice all over his Cuban and as he tried to scrape it off he decided to call them back. The woman that answered the phone was so rude. When my husband told her his issue she said " Well I guess you can bring it back for a new one" He said she was aggressive and annoyed by his issue. He even had her repeat our order back to him and she said no pickles, so instead of being nice, apologizing for the mistake, and making it right she lost customers and now has poor reviews on both Google and Yelp. Which as I've read this rude lady has been written about a lot on these sites. To the owners, I hope you see the reviews and do something about this employee. She is ruining your business... if this is the new owner, lady I would sell your store to someone that actually likes people and knows how to make a sandwich!! That poor sandwich is now laying in our garbage can and we will scratch off this once great shop as a place to go for Cubans. Oh and the black bean soup was not good either. Next time we won't be lazy and make the drive to Soup n Cubans where we know we will be greeted warmly and treated with kindness and have an outstanding lunch. Love this place! The sandwiches are always fresh. I get the Cuban unpressed and it's delicious. We had them 3 times last week and I want one now!! Lol. My Dad used to come here before he would pick my sister and I up from high school. We were usually greeted with a Cuban sandwich and it was AMAZING. I read the reviews and I guess they are under new ownership. That makes a lot of sense to me. I was raving about this place to my boyfriend on the way. We pull up to the drive thru and are rudely greeted. They basically asked us what we wanted annoyed we were even there. And when we got our receipt to sign she said "Can you give me back my pen, please." Not even seconds after signing. Customer service needs work. I know the place was rather busy but the attitude made me feel upset. Years after going here to rekindle a memory of my early high school days put me in a damper mood. :( read more
