The food here is not the best.. spring rolls are pretty good, but everything else is very rushed, generic, not cooked fresh at all.

Best Chinese since I've been in the south! I got the Hunan Chicken combo, it was fresh, hot and the rice has great flavor!

Clean venue, good flavor (3.5 / 5 star)…read more Venue: bright and modern decor. Small-to medium sized venue on the ground floor of apartment building. (live, play) type of building. Food: small menu which I do not have any problem with. When I go to Thai/lao restaurants, I always order papaya salad - which will tell me everything and what kind of food I can expect. Very simple taste- that doesn't mean bland. It captures sweet, savory and tang. Ordered green curry. Good flavor but almost bland - it can improve on the ingredients. Khao soi noodles again, taste good but missing something - All the dishes tried seems it was missing fish sauce flavor and more, which all dishes didn't seem to reflect traditional deep flavors. The chicken wings were pretty good. Wish the skin was crunchy and had a better batter. The hat yai dry rub was good, salty and sour but kind of reminded me more like tajin. My son really loved it. Service: yin and yang. One older lady who served our table was nice and attentive. The other supporting female staff there was unfriendly, almost seemed mad at the world. Slow service. Price: I don't know why NC charges so much for Asian food in general. I can't say it's outrageously expensive or reasonable price for the genre of this food. All in all, not a bad tasting food. It captured good flavor and has potential. I felt that the dishes are made afraid to show the real flavor traditional Thai flavor. May be good for entry -level food exploring.

I visited King Wok at their Sunset Lake Road location on July 21st, 2026…read more There appeared to be one employee on duty at about 330pm when I arrived. The restaurant was empty except for me and the attendant. The business was dimly lighted and the air conditioner set at a moderate level neither too cool nor too warm. It felt very pleasant in there as a stark contrast to the 90 degree heat outside. There were a few small tables with chairs along one wall. Along the opposite wall closest to the order counter were a line of chairs for takeout customers to wait. All of the furniture was well used and with the flooring clean. As I approached the counter I saw no one and had fleeting thoughts that I was alone but after striking the call bell, the employee came from the kitchen area and waited for me to order. I ordered pork spring rolls and crab rangoon. I don't know how long the preparation took because I left for about 10 minutes to visit an adjacent business and I returned to King Wok the order was ready to go. The items were well packaged to remain hot during my ride home of about 30 minutes. About Chinese foods I know very little; I only know what I like so upon tasting the crab rangoon I was very pleasantly surprised. I've eaten at many Chinese establishments over the years and become accustomed to a pronounced tangy flavor from the many crab rangoon pieces I've sampled but this was different. A slight tang was detectable but better was the taste of crab. I love crab. I've never tasted crab in the rangoon before but this time it was there. it was delicious! I loved it! If for no other reason, I will return to King Wok for more crab rangoon; two or three orders at once. Wow! The pork spring rolls were a little disappointing. The filling seemed undercooked, There were many small, hard pieces (carrots?) in each roll that were out of place compared to the moist, slightly slimey rest of the filling. I did not like them. Also, I had never had spring rolls before. I expected something light with noticable bits of tender pork. With these rolls I couldn't taste any pork at all but was I supposed too? My ignorance of Chinese food worked against me on this trip. Lastly I should mention the "spring rolls" I received looked alot like egg rools of which I've eaten dozens. I think its possible the cook may have prepared egg rolls for me instead of the spring rolls I ordered. The difference between the two is something I will research before returning to King Wok. To summarize ... I will return to King Wok. The Crab Rangoon was exquisite in the crab flavor I love over the hint of tanginess. I could make a meal out of just that one dish. I will not pass judgement on the pork rolls. I'm not sure what errors, if any, occured. I'm happy to visit King Wok again for more crab rangoon, pork rolls (spring or egg), and the relaxed ambience of a small, clean restaurant. .....

The decor is much nicer with an appealing dining area where they offer table service. At same time you can order at counter for take-out or order on-line for pick up. We choose to sit down and be waited on. We were greeted immediately with our soft drink desire taken and menus delivered. I ordered Egg Drop Soup to start and Chicken Chow Mein and my wife ordered Pepper Steak with Onion combo. The soup which came with crunchie noodles was flavorful with nice amount of onion chive and egg floating. My chow mein was good and the small plate order was more than enough. The steak combo came with fried rice and eg roll. My wife enjoyed her meal and the egg role was the best we have experienced. To elevate the dining experience there is red pepper sauce and duck sauce on each table if you care for it. The waitress taking care of entire dining room is the wife of establishment. She took care of five tables like clock work never missing a beat. The chef/husband was out and spoke with each table and later came out with complimentary dessert donuts for each table. This husband and wife team work very hard to insure customers are pleased. We really are sad that this place has not been on our radar sooner.

The prices are not posted, I had to ask. I was seated right away and my water was brought quickly. There were very few sushi choices. Did not finish either one. I was disappointed they didn't have many shrimp offerings. I tried the stuffed shrimp and saw the smallest shrimp I have ever seen. My server was Amy and I have never seen such a beautiful smile. She was wonderful and brought the rating up for sure. Nice, clean place and very nice people but I probably won't return.

The sushi bar felt sketchy, and even staples like General Tso's chicken were below average. I had been here once years ago and decided to give it another shot, but unfortunately, it didn't improve. When I review restaurants, I don't hold them to unrealistic standards--I judge them based on what they are. If I'm going to a Chinese buffet, I expect a certain level of quality for that category. In this case, it didn't meet that bar, and it's not a place I would return to.
