Egg rolls were very tough and not fresh. The fried rice was mediocre with nearly raw chunks of onion. Overall it was not bad, but not great.

Pretty good food in general. I thought the egg rolls were very good, not too much wrapper & a good amount of filling. It had a high "health/cleanliness score. I think is was over 98! I went to a place around the corner for years, but then he retired and it was never the same. Decided to order from New China since I was on a job in the area. They also had decent Yelp reviews. So I ordered my usual Hunan Chicken, egg roll, and hot n sour soup. I arrived a bit earlier than the recommended time, so my order was still in the wok. When finished, I decided to go back for the job site to eat up. When I got to the job, there was a lot of steam coming from everything so I couldn't wait to eat because it smelled so good. I love it when their hot sauce isn't those packets of hot red40 food coloring. Their hot sauce is some oil with lots of red peppers in it. Very authentic! The Hunan Chicken was heavenly with tons of flavor and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The shrimp egg roll was light, crispy, and bursting with flavor. Once the Hot N Sour soup cooled down (about an hour, lol) it too was very flavorful. This place is as good as it gets when it comes to shopping center Chinese places. This is my go to place for egg foo young, the portion is so big and if I choose to share which is rare two of us can eat from one serving. All of our chicken dishes looked and tasted like rubbery canned chicken. All the sauces are sugary, slimy, and watery. The crab Rangoon were clearly frozen and mass produced. The quest for good Chinese food still continues in Fuquay-Varina,NC unfortunately...very dissappointing. read more

Lucky me because I found better food and more generous portions with New Rainbow. I don't know what the dine in experience is like due to trying to stay safe during Covid craziness. We are relatively new to the Fuquay Varina NewRainbow Restaurant......three take-out visits within the last 6 weeks or so....so our exposure to the menu is somewhat limited. We have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service has been very friendly and attentive. Have not tried anything fried yet....corn starch I guess is what I mean.........but the stir fried Hunan.....Kung pow and Szechwan chicken and pork have all been wonderful .....at least to us. I have eaten at "New Rainbow" many times. The food is good. The service timely and polite. Reasonably priced, adequte portions are another appealing aspect of this clean, family-run business. I do wonder why they don't serve Chinese black tea? The tea they have is a grocery store variety and is much too sweet. A lady works at "New Rainbow" whom I do not know; maybe an owner? What I do know is she has a beautiful smile and now that I'm recognized when I visit; if she's not consumed in the usual whirlwind of activity, she smiles broadly at me and says, "Hello." Which makes my day while providing a true personal touch to the heartbeat of good customer service. The same Chinese family has been running this place for years, and it's almost equal to the best take-out Chinese food I've had on this continent, and certainly the best in this region. The menu is fairly standard, but it's not one of those places where the vegetables change but the flavor stays the same -- Shezuan dishes, Lo Meins, Egg Foo Young, Mu Shu dishes all have their unique flavors. Soups are especially good here. There are just a few places where the ingredient quality could be higher or more consistent, but they have remained a notch above expectations for take-out. read more

Impressive compared to other local Chinese takeout joints. Owners were friendly, prices were reasonable, place looked clean (with a 97 sanitation grade) and everything was pretty tasty. We ordered a few things for our family of 4: hubby really enjoyed his crab rangoons and General Tso's Chicken, kids ate the majority of their sweet & sour chicken pretty quickly, and although my Kung Pao chicken wasn't as delicious as I was hoping for, the lo mein we ordered made up for it. Ordered crab meat fried rice only to find out it was imitation crab and it tasted awful, had to toss the whole thing away. For 8.99 that's a rip off, if alternative or substitute ingredients like that are used at least have a courtesy to mention it on the menu. My spouse had boneless spare ribs and they were not impressive either, I've tried some and the meat itself tasted old, like it started going bad - again shows that this place doesn't seem to care much for the quality of their ingredients and the food they put out.
