    Wonton Soup and Sesame Tofu
    Jillian S.

Solid choice for Chinese food in Holly Springs. Prices are reasonable, portions are large, and flavors and options are as expected. Ample menu options: typical menu items that you would see at a N.C. based Chinese restaurant plus additional American items. We chose the sweet and sour chicken ($12.29), chicken fried rice ($5.39 for small and $9.79 for large), sesame tofu ($12.99), shrimp lo mein ($5.99 for small), and wonton soup ($4.79 for large). Portions are large. After enjoying some for dinner, I used the rest for packed lunches. I particularly enjoyed the sesame tofu and wonton soup. The sweet and sour chicken was a bit greasy, but not an issue after 5 minutes in the air fryer. Flavors are as expected: nothing too fancy, but exactly what we wanted. The wonton soup had excellent texture and rich flavor. The sesame tofu was seasoned well, as were the fried rice and lo mein dishes. Multiple ordering options: Order online, over the phone, or at the counter (by circling what you want on the menu). I chose to order online (only option is to pay at pick up). I received a confirmation text and then a second text 12 minutes later saying my order was ready for pick up. The order was ready upon arrival and accurate. Condiments and fortune cookies are set out in self-serve boxes. Good customer service: Employees are welcoming, efficient, and helpful. The lady working the counter (and several other positions) was enthusiastic and quick. I arrived to pick up my order and selected the hanging receipt matching my order number. Parking: parking is available on both sides of the lot near the restaurant. At busy times this area gets busy making it difficult to maneuver and park. Lowes foods is close by with a larger parking lot. Therefore, you will find a spot, you just may have to walk a little. Earlier in the day and after work I have easily found a close spot. We recommend this restaurant to others and would choose takeout from here again!

Prepackaged chow meiin noodles Yuck! My first major disappointment!!!

The package of crispy chow mein noodles Was very disappointing Otherwise the food was good

For ny style strip mall takeout this place is pretty great so far. I'm.always on the hunt for dumplings that are on the more doughy side but these were good. The teriyaki skewers with fried rice were fantastic and we will for sure get this everytime we come back. Excited to try more things on the menu

Best Chinese food around HOLLY SPRINGS. Food's always hot, you get a ton of it and it's fresh.

Service was very slow and the food was ok. Food was a pretty flat profile regardless of the dish ordered, it all tasted the same.

The decor is much nicer with an appealing dining area where they offer table service. At same time you can order at counter for take-out or order on-line for pick up. We choose to sit down and be waited on. We were greeted immediately with our soft drink desire taken and menus delivered. I ordered Egg Drop Soup to start and Chicken Chow Mein and my wife ordered Pepper Steak with Onion combo. The soup which came with crunchie noodles was flavorful with nice amount of onion chive and egg floating. My chow mein was good and the small plate order was more than enough. The steak combo came with fried rice and eg roll. My wife enjoyed her meal and the egg role was the best we have experienced. To elevate the dining experience there is red pepper sauce and duck sauce on each table if you care for it. The waitress taking care of entire dining room is the wife of establishment. She took care of five tables like clock work never missing a beat. The chef/husband was out and spoke with each table and later came out with complimentary dessert donuts for each table. This husband and wife team work very hard to insure customers are pleased. We really are sad that this place has not been on our radar sooner.

Walking into the Khao Sen you'll feel like you've walked into a warm, intentional, and stylish restaurant. To be seated you'll first check in with the host and then be shown to your table. For drinks we ordered the mango passion fizz (mango, passion fruit, club soda) and the strawberry rose limeade (strawberry, rose, lime, club soda). Both looked nice presentation wise, but would definitely lean towards the mango passion fizz for the overall balance of flavors. For our appetizer we ordered a taste of all (vegetable gyoza, crispy krab sticks, crispy spring rolls, fried tofu, spicy chicken wings with side of each sweet chili sauce and sweet soy sauce) to be able to try most of the appetizers. Overall I would opt for the spicy chicken wings and pass on the other items. All of the appetizers were good but the spicy chicken wings were fried perfectly and had a great balance of spice/flavor. For entrees we ordered the Khao Soi (Northern Thai-style curry, egg noodles, crispy egg noodles, cilantro, scallion, pickled radish, shallots, lime) with chicken. The flavors were excellent and the chicken thigh was cooked to perfection. Almost if the chicken thigh was boiled or sous vide where it fell apart. We also ordered the Khao Pad (fried rice, egg, onion, Chinese broccoli, tomato, garlic, cucumber, cilantro, scallion) with sweet sausage which I wasn't sure if I would like but turned out to be excellent. The sweet sausage along with the flavors of the rice, broccoli, sweet onion, and egg made this dish one of my favorites. We were so full we couldn't make it to dessert but I heard the Thai Donuts with the Thai tea custard are excellent. If you are in the Fuquay-Varina area and are looking for good Thai food I definitely recommend stopping by Khao Sen. Looking forward to visiting again soon to try the other dishes.

A nice perk of this spot is that it's just a stone's throw away from free and plentiful lot parking. I'd make a reservation if you plan to come here on a weekend for dinner. The place was bustling, with almost all the tables full. It's bright, airy and modern looking inside. Which makes it the perfect place for a date night or celebration spot. At the same time, it's not stuffy or overly fancy. The menu is comprehensive with Thai favorites like Pad Thai and Pad See Ew with a large number of Japanese and Sushi items on the back. My friends tried the Thai Spicy level and I will say it was pleasantly hot without burning your tongue off. I ordered the bento box and was really happy with the quality of the sashimi and nigiri. Everything was tasty, and the portions were more than satisfying. If I had to make a nit on something that I didn't love (it's hard!), I'd say that the rice texture wasn't my favorite. It was a little dry. But other than that, I would definitely consider it for another night out.

I went for dinner on a Saturday and it was packed so expect a slight wait at peak hours. Parking can also be tight as it is located downtown. We were seated quickly and our food came out FAST! Great service. My friend and I shared the Scallion Pancake, Bang Bang Shrimp, Dry-Sautéed Green Beans, and Spicy Crispy Fish. We definitely got one too many dishes, but I am glad we got to try them. The Scallion Pancake was solid. It had the right amount of thinness and flakiness. I would love to taste more scallion next time, though. I think that the sauce that it came with was a bit sweet and I would rather a more savory or saltier sauce to pair with the pancake. The Bang Bang Shrimp was under the appetizer category but it looked like an entree. Lots of small shrimp in a creamy, sweet, and spicy chili sauce. I loved it! The Dry-Sauteed Green Beans were probably my least favorite dish. I wish it had a taste (or more of a taste) of soy sauce or garlic, but it was still decent. The Crispy Spicy Fish is definitely one of the most popular dishes here and it lived it up to the hype! Not sure what seasonings were on the fish, but it tasted a bit salty, spicy, and savory. The fish also tasted fresh to me. We also received complimentary rice, which was needed with our savory dishes! I would definitely come back here in the future! There are so many options for food on their menu and almost everything was a hit. Plus, service was fantastic. I recommend going with a large group to do family style and really try a lot of the menu items.

I like how people talk about decent Chinese food like they talk about bees -- "where did they all…read morego?" If I am anywhere near Cary I will go to this place for the Sichuan dishes. Often times I find that the little red pepper on many Chinese menus mean nothing. Here, they mean "this is going to be really spicy!" I have been told that you ask for something that isn't on the menu, they can often gladly make it for you. So... yeah. TBH -- the more American-Chinese dishes aren't anything special. I had someone's General Tsao and it was way spicier than most (which was great) but really, really, goopy and sugary (which wasn't.) All in all, if you're adventurous, and you're tired of the same old American-Chinese I would give this place a run and I would actually avoid those items on the menu should you dine here.
