We've lived in South Harlem for a year and a half, and have thus far been a little disappointed with the local food and restaurant options. There have been a few notable exceptions, however... and today, we found a BIG ONE in Jumbo Hamburgers. It's small, and divey, but adorable in its own way... with the countertop and stools evocative of the old "soda shop" days. The server who put our order together was amazing. She did not write a single thing down, and despite our order being pretty sizable, there were no mistakes. Everything we ordered, no matter how quirky, was accurately provided. And she did it with a smile. As for the food... delicious. And considering the prices, great value for the money. A rare thing these days. Burgers were juicy, well-seasoned and not even close to overcooked. Fries and onion rings were crispy and hot. Grilled cheese with bacon was devoured in seconds. Jumbo Hamburgers also does breakfast all day... my teenaged son got French Toast with bananas, and despite his 6-foot-plus frame, and loving every bite, he could not finish it. Their chicken soup hit the spot for my allergy-suffering daughter. And the milkshakes? Superb- thick and sweet and well-mixed. Jumbo Hamburgers opens and closes early... delivery ends at 6 pm, and they close at 7 pm most days (6 pm on Sunday). While I wish they were open late, I'm not gonna question their decision-making... because whatever they are doing... it works. Maybe they just want to avoid too much of a good thing. In any case, the family agrees that this is gonna be our new neighborhood go-to. We still have salads and wraps and sandwiches and omelets to try... can't wait! Bravo, Jumbo Hamburgers! This is my favorite go to place to have breakfast delivered via DoorDash. I've ordered from here multiple times before posting because I wanted to make sure of their consistency. I order the same thing...pancake special where you can add a protein and choice of eggs; (I chose bacon and scrambled eggs cooked hard); also add hash browns as a side order. All times food was delivered hot, pancakes (3) melt in your mouth (good use of butter), bacon and eggs cooked well done like I like, and hash browns (2 patty style) are crispy. I've ordered from this place on Grubhub multiple times, and I never really had a problem with the delivery and quality of the food. This location of Jumbo's is pretty fast with delivery, and the delivery person often arrives at my apt before Grubhub's ETA. Although they have a pretty extensive menu of diner-type foods, I've only ordered breakfast items from Jumbo. Regarding breakfast food, I always say that you really have to put effort into messing up scrambled eggs. Interestingly, the restaurant has the name hamburgers in it, but I have never ordered a hamburger from Jumbo. read more

Love this place! Another good hood spot. I love coming here for breakfast. Order the grits plates you will definitely be satisfied and full. The menu is your standard jumbos menu. They basically have almost everything. Like I said previously I love to eat this for breakfast. I'm never cheated on quality or quantity. The chorizo hash ... OMG YES! They also sell beyond burgers here! (I love them too much) As far as dining in, never, just because it was usually always backed with people. I never had a problem with staff here. This little Harlem neighborhood place is great. Friendly, polite, fast and inexpensive. Even old-fashioned counter service. What's not to like? Sure they use processed cheese, serve on styrofoam and their coffee isn't great, so do take-out (or a bring-in) and pick up a coffee at Harlem Coffee, Double Dutch or Starbucks. read more

I only ordered a Belgian waffle breakfast with eggs and bacon-- the waffle was delicious. Comparing with a few other waffles I've had in the area, I'd say this one was definitely my favorite. The fish filet sandwich comes with three filets of fish on a giant roll. The chicken tenders are actually made out of chicken breasts, incidentally, they're also the size of a chicken breast. It's greasy and highly unintellectualized food. It's not diner food reinvented. Everything can be cooked at home, but at these prices, why would you? Ok, so one morning I decide to order breakfast, which is cool because I don't feel good, and don't want to cook or go outside, since it's like -12 degrees haha (not really but whatever) I am told that it will be here in a half hour, and so an hour and a half later, still no food. I call back and guess what? No manager available, really? Come on. And no one knows what happened to my order. Interesting. Because I called 3 times...and was told 10-15 mins. So the last time I call, I am told that no one gave the order, then he changes up and says they lost the order. Then oh yeah, get this - no one is making deliveries today. So umm...needless to say, I will not be ordering from them again. By the way, less than 5 blocks away. Yeah, lazy, but it still shouldn't have taken 2 hours to get me my food. Jumbo's is great for a fast meal for cheap. If you are expecting a gourmet meal , you should look elsewhere, but this place is great for a quick bite on the go. Great staff and quick cooks. The Gyros are good and so are their breakfast sandwiches. Just be clear about what you want on the phone, sometime they get the orders mixed up. read more

I've been eating at this location for over a decade and in-house everything is fine. My deliveries lately had been less than stellar. Twice, I ordered a slice of coconut cake and received a can of coke instead. I ordered a grill cheese with bacon and they forgot the bacon. I've only had their bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, fries, and sausage/egg/cheese breakfast sandwich. The onion rings are a little mushy and the burgers are a little bland. Overall the food is ok, but pretty standard for fast food. They'll also make omelettes, gyros, chicken nuggets/wings/fingers, sandwiches, and salads. Good for delivery, too.
