A neighborhood gem!!!!! Soo thankful we have this diner nearby! Their pancakes might be the best diner pancakes I've had in a long time. Service is great EVERY time. It's also so well maintained and SO clean! I peaked to look at their kitchen and it looks damn near spotless. So impressive! Just simply delicious diner food-- you can't go wrong here. Don't quote me on their non diner items. Don't go to a diner and order non diner items. That's all I have to say! Can't wait to come back :) FYI their chicken and waffles is yummy but their friend chicken is more like a chicken tender or fried chicken thigh?

Monte Carlo is a modern themed diner with a liquor license! We had tasty food, but nothing Absolutely outstanding. stop by this spot if you're in the area and seeking a reliable bite near the park.

I went here on a weekday in the evening and it was a perfect time to go. There were just a few people there so plenty of seating. The waitress was really friendly and attentive of whatever we needed. In order the chicken matzo ball soup in a cop. It was really flavorful and had a nice amount of chicken, enough, enough matzo balls, and a hearty mix of vegetables in a creamy broth that blended all of the seasonings well. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade which was served in a cute, mason jar styled glass and was really yummy without being overly sweet or tart.

How many diners sell $11 red wines with a 4.0 on Vivino, $7 beer happy hours until 7pm plus reduced appetizers. Great local spot with a killer clam chowder too. Service is fast and diner friendly. Classic diner, but better.

So excited to have this new diner open up! I dined here once they opened (soft launch right now). The inside is so beautiful, pretty decor inside and lovely paintings all over the restaurant (check the art in the bathrooms)! For food, they literally have so much to choose from - breakfast, lunch and dinner options. I really liked their omelet with salmon and cream cheese, kale salad, and I also loved the shrimp and grits! They have everything you would need to satisfy your parties desires - chicken and waffles to a very delicious steak! They offer a full range of coffee, wines, and other non-alcoholic beverages. I promise no one will leave disappointed! I want to come back and try the rest of the menu items!!

Clearly that is a cheap piece of white bread not homage bagel chip croutons.

With the right management this place *could be great, but unfortunately it is not there yet. To begin with there was only one on the floor. understandably service was somewhat slow, but what was really disappointing was the disparity between the menu and well we actually got. the waitress recommended the Caesar salad. Normally, I don't get Caesar salad at restaurants unless I think they actually do something special because it's so cheap to make it described homemade bagel chips. That couples with our recommendation me over the edge to order it. That was a mistake. There weren't any homemade bagel chips, but there was a piece of white toast cut into four pieces used as croutons. For the nachos we ordered we requested pulled pork instead we got leftover roasted pork sliced into strips that had a dog breath after taste. The waitress did take the pulled pork off the bell, but they really should've comped the entire not considering the menu description and the dish did not match. lastly, the waitress was very friendly and young and I don't call her for this, but it was bizarre that at the end she insisted that I give her her tip on Venmo or Zelle and not on my credit card. First she asked for cash and I explained I didn't have any and instead of just saying no worries she then wanted me to use an app.

This a brand new diner style restaurant in the neighborhood so took a Sunday morning to try it out. The place is nice itself, upscale but kind of small so if it's busy might have a to wait if packed. The service was attentive and we had great service by our server. Everyone was willing to help out which is great to see. The food was really good, typical breakfast food I would expect to enjoy. Me and my dad finished our plates and did not have to ask for anything else. The only thing I would say it is pricier than expected and for the neighborhood for some simple dishes but overall enjoyed, would come back and hope it stays in the Barrio!

While passing by hungry. I decided to drop in this gem to get a bite. To my surprise everything was great! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was amazing and the service was great! Being from Generation X the music was perfect! If you're thinking about dining here, think no more. Just do it!

This is a spot that is roomy enough if you have a little crew with you. It's very nice staff and is a cute, clean place. I've only have gone here for breakfast, so speaking for breakfast, the food is decent.

Came for breakfast, I had a western omelette with cheese and am expresso. This place is really pretty inside and the ambiance is perfect for a breakfast date with not too much noise. The waitress was sweet and the food was fresh. I will definitely be returning.

It's a neighborhood diner & so thankful it's so close to my apartment. Sometimes you just want the basic breakfast fix and this diner delivers. I've had breakfast here twice & for the most part the food is pretty good. The portions are hefty & proportion to the price. On weekdays they offer free coffee & juice with your breakfast entree. What an amazing deal. I've tried the huevos rancheros & the Harlem breakfast. Those are breakfast staples are spot on delicious. My partner has ordered the omelettes and heavy on the fixings, which is what we like. You get your monies worth with the portions. Today, we stop by during lunchtime. The menu still serves breakfast dishes but I decided to try their lunch menu. It's another deal where they offer soup, or salad & a soda with your entree. Lunch is delicious as well. I had a Cubana with sweet potatoes fries. The fries were perfect crunch ratio. We finished off our meal with their carrot cake. Yes, it's our second time getting it & it's still a top notch dessert. I'm not sure why it's not mentioned here, but it's really one of the best carrot cakes I've tried. It's not too sweet & just perfect ratio of texture & cake moisture. The cake has a cute carrot design too.

Spanish Harlem (now known as East Harlem) needs a place like Monte Carlo. By this, I mean a beautiful local restaurant with affordable food and friendly service that community members can enjoy. A place where they can comfortably take their family and friends to celebrate or simply dine without going far. Monte Carlo seems like that place but there are some kinks to work out. I visited in celebration of a close friend's birthday on the Sunday before Easter. Upon entering, I was really impressed. Although it's supposed to be a diner, it felt like a cozy cafe on the upper west side. Staff was dressed in personalized uniforms, the floors are tiled white, and the walls are adorned with paint and beautiful artwork. The booths feature upholstered seating and flowers on the tables. A nice space overall. We arrived a little after 2pm for a brunch reservation. In total it was about 20 of us, again this was a reservation, meaning they anticipated us and we assumed they could handle such a group size but this experience didn't feel like that. Upon arriving, we were seated immediately. Given our party size, we were offered a pre-fixe menu costing $30 per person. Very reasonable and included my drink. The options were about 6 or 7 different entrees including: chicken tenders, vegetarian omelette, the harlem breakfast feast, and a burger. I opted for fresh OJ and the harlem breakfast feast which included: 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, sliced ham, a sausage link, bacon, and seasoned potatoes. Definitely a feast! A couple other people at our table got this same option or the omelette. Ordering our food and drinks was simple, the hard part was actually receiving our food. About 30 minutes went by when we started wondering where the food was. Perhaps 15 minutes later, the food started to come out in waves. After an hour of waiting, I was the very last person to receive my entire meal. The waiter seemed to forget who got what, so some people would receive parts of their food unknowingly. For example, pancakes and some eggs came out on two different plates. Myself and 3 other people at that time were waiting. The waiter says "Pancakes?". I say "Yes, me!". They give it to me then give the eggs to the other person waiting. Turns out the eggs and the pancakes were for the other person, but now we're both waiting for the rest of our food. This happened twice. I received my food in three installments eventually - first pancakes, then ham, bacon, and eggs, and finally potatoes. These were on 3 different plates. By the time, I received my complete meal, everyone around me was either finished eating or almost finished. I was annoyed that I took a few bites and asked for a to-go container. The staff did not give any reason as to why the food took so long, so I just assume that they could not really handle such a large group. I never heard any apology either. Very disappointing. In any event though, the food was quite good and portions were generous enough to last me more than one meal! For starters, my pancakes were soft and fluffy with a dollop of cinnamon butter. Never had that style of butter but it was delicious. The bacon was prepared just how I prefer, well cooked but not burnt. The eggs were also fluffy and cooked hard as I prefer. Finally, the potatoes which were seasoned and paired with bell peppers, were tasty. A great meal overall, just slow to come out. The rest of the party enjoyed their meals but some of them expressed the same sentiments about slow food. Staff were also friendly and attentive. They sang happy birthday to my friend and lit a candle for some cupcakes her mother provided. Overall, 4 stars for great food and modern decor, but I have to account for the slow service. Given that it is a new establishment, I give grace and understanding but please work on this. I plan to return and give them a second try. I would recommend others pay them a visit as well and support local businesses!

It's a perfect date night spot to share deliciousness with a loved one. My friend and I shared three flavorful dishes-- a radicchio salad, the Confit Duck Leg and the Paccheri, a pasta with house- made pork sausage and broccoli rabe. The duck was so tender it fell off the bone. The pasta was intricate and tasted perfect when it was first served then veered a tad salty as it marinated (but still great). The salad was gorgeous on its own but even better accompanied by the mains. The duck was probably my favorite, but every bite complemented the next thing so well, that all of my senses were thoroughly engaged. I truly was having such a deep experience with the food that at one point I asked my friend to stop talking so that I could properly take in all the flavors. Oops. She loved the food too, so thankfully she understood. We topped off the meal with the buñuelos. We liked the sauce, but I'd say it's not memorable. I liked my orange wine, and my friend was indifferent about her drink. It was a pricey dinner but such a worthwhile experience. Can't wait to go back.

I recently had the Nas, their take on a Manhattan, and it was incredibly smooth--one of the best whiskey cocktails I've had in a while. Overall, 10/10. They do warn you before that the ribs have a bit of fat on them, I think in the context of NY restaurant week I'm happy to pay it but as a solo entree, the amount of fat vs meat would have annoyed me. My friend had the duck, she enjoyed it. But it is very much salad with a side of duck, I believe she had 6 pieces of duck (pictured) and then a mango, arugula and onion salad. Dessert was very good, but I do hope those are not the usual portion sizes and maybe they just served smaller for NY restaurant week. Which I really didn't mind as I was full from the entree and sprouts. Servers were really nice, this place seems to have its regulars and a nice garden sitting area towards the back.
