Food shrimp and chips were good they didn't salt them like I asked which was great. The crab puffs were not good I couldn't taste anything but onion. It was like they spread the filling on with a butter knife. and added a 1x1 centimeter dab of filling. I couldn't tell if crab or cream cheese was in it. I only tasted onion. I went to try it because of a review I read on yelp 8 years ago and my favorite restaurant went out of business so I have no place to get yummy crab puffs. so I'm still looking the tarter sauce was okay. Small Chinese restaurant that also has a lounge. Walked in, was greeted & seated right away. The Waitress was friendly & we were checked on frequently! Food came out about 5 minutes within ordering. I ordered Szechuan Chicken with added Broccoli (See Picture) Portion size was 10/10, I give the flavor & beef quality 7/10. We've been searching for a good Chinese takeout restaurant for a while now and we all agreed after trying Jumbo, that we found our new go-to. The flavors were spot on and everything tasted fresh and not overly greasy. The menu has a lot of great options you don't always see elsewhere. "Average" is a fair way to characterize Jumbo's offerings. Came in last night, party of four. Seated immediately, tea, water, menus, and flatware was also quick. We ordered four ala cartes and two appetizers. Potstickers could have been frozen so meh. One order should have been pork but we received chicken instead. Standout dish was salt and pepper chicken. $85-ish including two bottles of beer. There's plenty of Americanized-Chinese places like Jumbo around so no rush to get back here. read more

Huge quantities of relatively mediocre food - but, if this is what you think of when you think Chinese, you're likely to be satisfied. The prices are certainly fair: lunch for two, with soup and fried rice, came to about $25 before tip and the waitperson was friendly and pleasant. I've driven by Jumbo multiple times and was always curious. After looking it up here on Yelp and seeing the pictures, I KNEW I had to try it! I decided to order delivery on a Friday night. I was a little nervous about it given the distance I live, but food got to me quickly and was still PIPING HOT! Everything was so good and I already can't wait to go back! Id rather have a smaller portion of good quality chicken than a big portion of FATTY chicken. Half of my General Tsao chicken was inedible. I'd put a piece in my mouth, chew the meat and have to spit out more fat and burnt chicken than there was decent meat. Great flavor but terrible quality chicken. Sad. read more

I've been eating a lot of Chinese food lately and this place did not disappoint. I got a couple items here. I got their #7 which is a combo which had General Tso's Chicken, Fried Shrimp, and Pork Friend Rice and it was all delicious! I appreciated that their General Tso's chicken actually had some decent heat. I also got their combination lo mein which was also very good! I would definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried it before. read more

Yes Chinatown Portland has moved to SE 82nd but just a couple miles down the road off of Johnson Creek, the Jumbo is serving inner SE and the hungry next door at W-Buffett's Precision Castparts. And every once in a while you crave an Americanized Chinese menu, the kind offering egg foo young in a combo with the chow mein or rice,and get it all done in One (plate) third portion of the plate, main entree selection. And then, Jumbo surprises with some authentic dishes not usually seen in the off-Chinatown scene: Peking Duck, sizzling oysters and scallops, salt and pepper squid, and our family fave, beef chow fun. Owner is friendly and gracious and after chatting for a while also pointed out the more authentic menu items, her favorite, the Mandarin Delight. This is one of those days, the hubby insisted on a chop suey house for Kung Pao and that's when my eyes roll...lovingly haha, and I embrace my combo plate options choosing gravy topped eggy veg foo young patty and indulge in pork (cha sui) fried rice as it's the only time I ever order it, always out of pocket book reach, way overpriced as a single entree... a matter of principle ;) It's a killer deal with Kung Pao as the last part of the combo and enough for 2 meals at $9.50! Decor is a typical old school Chinese diner with TV on in the main room booths just like stepping into grandma's living room where pink and green abounds and windows dressed with low hanging half window drapes, but bonus because she keeps her liquor cabinet full next door in the video poker room. Spread out in the darker adjoining wood paneled drawing room to host larger parties on the round tables and overflow. After arriving from my flight at 9:30 pm, the only restaurant open in the area was jumbo restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised by the fast Chinese food! Pros: - plenty of seating available inside at the bar and the tables - very fast service and the waitress at the counter was very friendly - the portions were very large and so cheap! Everything was less than 10$ - the egg rolls were only 1.50$ - we ordered the Thai style chow fun and it was surprisingly spicy but very flavorful! It's a popular dish here and the portion is huge! - they give plenty of meat and shrimp in their dishes! They don't skimp out! Cons: - it's a typical fast casual Chinese place, so go in with those expectations ie. Not the cleanest, dingy decor, oily and fried foods Overall if I'm back in Portland and need some late night food that's fast and cheap, I'm coming here! read more

I love Jumbos. My family has been going here for years...service is always kind and friendly, they accommodate dishes to be vegan, portions are generous, and the actual location is interesting and unique, like a movie set, an old diner with pink and green seats. If you go in person they serve hot tea! A lovely touch I think :) Our favorites are the cashew tofu, the Singapore noodles with tofu, the sesame tofu, and the eggplant. Very happy with the food I tried recently through Uber eats. I chose this option because they had a great amount of vegetarian options. The crab puffs were perfect, the crispy sesame tofu was delicious (& I loveeeee that they already separate the sauce so you don't have to ask or worry about it getting soggy) and the plain noodles were delicious as well. Came in to place a to go order and have some people that are picky eaters and they had no problems making sure to take care of us and cook it perfect!!! I ordered the number 5 combo and it was worth every penny. Large portion sizes and was very flavorful. I only ate a little more than half and saved the rest for dinner. I chose this restaurant because of decent reviews here in Yelp. Big mistake. You can skip this long review and skip the restaurant. Most of my reviews are positive, here is one that is not: The food was simply horrible. We ordered two entrees (pictured) and pot stickers. One entree was family style, it came with an appetizer sampler and hot and sour soup. I thought the soup was bland, my partner thought it tasted awful. The pot stickers were undercooked, doughy, and sticky. The appetizer sampler included a little bbq pork, a couple won tons, and an egg roll. These were average, but easily the best food of the meal. The entrees were where things got seriously awful. The Cashew Chicken had soft, tasteless cashews and rubbery chicken that was unrecognizable. The parts of the chicken left over that no one wants. The sauce was tasteless. The "Shrimp in Lobster Sauce" was just gross. Bland shrimp swimming in. Something. Really. Bad. I question the presence of lobster anywhere in the same zip code as this goo. We are packing up the leftovers (70% of the food) and we will try to give it to someone on the streets tomorrow. Finally, the packaging. There's was a ton of it and it was all the bad stuff. Polystyrene, hard plastic, plastic bags. You can't even pay Ridwell to take most of this stuff. read more

The beef dish was pleasantly spicy and very tasty. The sweet and sour was good but a bit greasy. The rice was packed with pork, vegetables, and was tasty. Portions were huge. We ordered take out. As with all new Chinese restaurants, gotta order the basics and see how they did. Pot stickers ok, bbq pork is good, don't bother with the spring rolls or crab Rangoon. The green beans we got with garlic and spicy - these were decent. As was the general tsos. But the lo mein was GREASY (as in too greasy to eat out of the fridge the next day), and the chicken with vegetables was super bland - more oil than any discernible flavorful sauce. And the egg flower soup - solid pass. Who puts tomatoes in that?? As for Covid, they did distance and pickup outside. Homemade (or store ought and divvied up) sauces - would have been better in packets perhaps. read more

First off, really liked their precautions for Covid. I've been calling ahead and ordering over the phone. If you were already going to pickup takeout, do this over app ordering. It's cheaper that way! It can be daunting, but just read your list off and give your name. You pay at the door. Family favorites are mandarin chicken, ginger chicken, chicken fried rice, and potstickers. Specify chicken or other meat fried rice! Ordering just "fried rice" will include multiple meats. Nice big portions when ordering al la cart entrees and sides. If you want some nice, consistent, and plentiful Chinese food, this is the place to go! read more

And quite frankly I can't even be sure that the one dish we did receive was actually the right dish because for 5 spice chicken there was no 5 spice.
