Meat was dry. Little sauce given out. Ordered the family combination for two and only got 4 crab ragoons. No sauce for them. Two tiny containers for the sweet and sour sauce. Just was disappointed with the portion size as it barely feeds two people and it's $20 per person. Won't be ordering here again kind people but this is the business of food. They had great service and the food was good. It's not a five star restaurant but if you want a place to have some classic Chinese takeout, this is your jam. I will note though for the owners, the table was very sticky, and not stable. We almost lost our food to the wobbly table a few times. Might want to check on that. Went back yesterday but left immediately after seeing the new OVERLY EXPENSIVE menu prices. $20 for shrimp fried rice??? I drive by weekly and have been curious about Kwang Chow for quite some time. Had a craving for hot and sour soup and called in a to-go order. Confirmed that they do take credit card. When I get there, I'm greeted by a sweet lil azn auntie with very friendly customer service. I ended up ordering a couple more things: mapo tofu with pork, and a combo (#7) which consisted of egg foo young, fried shrimp, and chicken subgum chow mein. I wasn't that hungry--I'm just a very gluttonous person. I was offered hot tea while I waited and was checked on often. Service was quick, food was piping hot, and I could barely wait to dig in. I was not disappointed. It's decent standard Chinese food. I particularly enjoyed the egg foo young, as I don't see that on many menus. Portions are huge, so I will be eating leftovers for the next few days if I survive this food coma. read more

The ultimate for comfort food. Egg Foo Young with rich brown gravy. Fried Rice with no peas or carrots! This reminds me of the restaurant my family ate at in the 70's. Greeted by a happy person, very welcoming! No one else was there at lunch hour! Not a good sign. I should have known better, but I ordered the Kung pao beef, very little meat and lots of celery. Not spicy at all just bland, blah! My partner ordered the egg foo young. Very little pork and some other things, not to sure what they were. It was passable, but nothing to write home about. Hot and sour soup could have used more vinegar, but was loaded with chicken and vegetables, thus the two stars! Place is immaculate, great service but what we had just wasn't very good. I tried the lunch special. The Chow Mein was the least appealing Chinese food I have ever had while dining out. I looked and tasted like the chow mein that we had to eat as kids all the way down to the crispy noodles. Now the Egg Foo Young was quite good as was the Hot and Sour soup and the fried rice. We've been customers for 20 some years. Unfortunately, it's not the same. Dining in used to be an event. Now you are served from to-go boxes (tacky) but ultimately a good idea, since we always have left-overs. They seem to have a steady stream of customers, of which I'm glad, becasue I want small businesses to succeed always. Pro: Missed the rush and our party was seated immediately. Con: We we're seated in a cozy little spot by the entrance to both the Lounge and the Bathrooms. It was that sweet spot where you could hear both the house music and the Video Lottery Machines in the lounge. Bonus: No Windows. Double Bonus: Fake Brick Wall. It felt a little like eating in an institutional kitchen. Pro Huge Portions of food at a decent price. You pretty much get all you can eat rice so you will not leave hungry! With a Togo Box, yes. Hungry. Not possible. I wish the menu mentioned items that should be shared due to the portion size. We all ended up getting excessive amounts of food. Plus Apps. It worked out for us as we all planned on sharing our dinners. But we should have only ordered 2 items at most. We took home 2 Large Togo Boxes of leftovers. Everything was great minus the 3 items that we we're told would be spicy and were not hot on any level but still tasty. The rice was moist and fluffy. All the sauces were good. The 2 BBQ Pork Apps we ordered were good size portions. The Crab Puff App was definitely in house made and yummy. The Bill after 5 Dinners and 3 Apps. No drinks. $97.00 not too bad. I have been eating here for over 15 years. I've tried other Chinese food establishments but nothing had ever compared. They truly are 'THAT GOOD' ... Best part? Anything you order with chicken isn't like many other Chinese food restaurants. They use actual white meat chicken chunks! They may not accept credit cards but if they know you, they'll let you write a check. They also have an ATM machine that only charges 2.00 for use. I adore Kwang Chow. My Dad, my Mom, my Step Dad, my Sister, my sons father, my almost husband and most importantly my son all love it here. We have eaten here fairly often in the past. Food and service were always pretty good. You need cash though as cards are not accepted. We went there tonight because we hadn't been there in a while. Apparently, there is new ownership. The food was still pretty good and served hot. Wait staff were attentive. There are a couple of things that just don't work for us though. Instead of plates, food is now served in styrofoam clamshell containers. That is fine for take-out and leftovers, but when I'm eating in a restaurant, I really kind of expect my food to be served on a plate. Especially if I should need to cut something with my utensils. Also: We got water with our meals. The water glasses were not clean. Both of our glasses smelled like beer. My girlfriend asked for a clean glass and it smelled like beer as well. This means that we must take Kwang Chow off of our preferred restaurants list. I've been coming here nearly my entire life. It's always the same staff working there. The daily special is my go to. Fried rice, sweet and sour pork, chicken chow main, and fried shrimp. I can get three meals out of one order. Their egg rolls are enormous and incredible. They are the best I've ever had. The inside could use some updating, but I usually get it to go. A friend of mine had been telling me about this place for some time and we finally had the opportunity to stop in after a long day of antiqueing. I was a little leary upon entering due to the old decor...it reminded me of an old pizza parlor or diner...and the fact that they don't take credit and/or debit (like come on, it's 2017), but the food smelled amazing. We were greeted almost immediately and cheerfully, and brought water and tea right away. My friend and I ordered one of the family dinners and I was surprised at how much food we got for just $27!! We easily had enough for 4 or 5 people. Everything was delicious, but the egg rolls were phenomenal. I had never had anything like it, and don't imagine that I will again until I make it back to Kwang Chow. My husband and i have always been big fans of Kwang Chows, their food is so yummy. The restaurant is not fancy but the food and customer service is great. Their prices have always been reasonable, portions are huge always leftovers for later. We like family dinner B the best, our favorite things are the BBQ pork, fried shrimp, egg rolls and the red sauce on the table. We started going there was in 1996. Sweet & Sour Chicken was more like orange flavor chicken. With three adults, one with a combo plate, appetizer, our meal was $51.00 I was disappointed that you couldn't substitute different noodles. First impressions; Friendly service and flavorful tea. I ordered fried shrimp and had a choice of steamed rice or pork fried rice, i went for fried rice. My date ordered kung pao chicken with steamed rice in a small cup of hot and sour soup. She said she's had better soup but it was good. Back stepping, the restaurant was fairly busy Friday evening just before 7pm. There were booths available. This is an old place, but well kept up and very clean on our visit. Back to our meals. Kung pow chicken was very flavorful fresh with a little bit of heat but not burn your face off. (I tried it, and I'm a wussy when it comes to hot stuff) My date did comment, "There is an awful lot of celery here." She later commented, "There isn't a lot of chicken, but what there is was dark meal, tender and good." The shrimp, all 15 pieces, were actually very good, firm and fresh tasting, a little bit greasy, but what do you expect, they were FRIED. A good proportion of shrimp to batter. They took the shrimp tails off, shame, because I love fried shrimp tails. Pork fried rice needed a dash of soy sauce to liven it up. The red sauce at the table was too runny and the mustard was tummy. My fortune cookie read, "Your lucky number for this week is nine." Discovered this place years ago, and it's still one of the VERY few Chinese restaurants I'll eat at. It's not much to look at exterior or interior wise, but the service is wonderful, and the food portions they serve are enough to feed a small village. You can tell the place is pretty aged, and they've been doing things a certain way for a long time, which gives it that small-town familiar feeling. It's Americanized Chinese food with an incredibly plain setup, and if you're a miss Priss who can only hate (and not appreciate) the simplicity of that, then this is not the place for you. Lucky for me, I'm easily pleased, and usually order the #8 Combo (subbing out the mein for pork fried rice) and I'd be lying if I said it doesn't leave me a state of fullness and bliss. The sweet and sour pork is just absolutely juicy perfection every time. If you're feeling extra, get a side of deep fried jumbo shrimp (yeah, not the place to go if you're a calorie counter or a weight watcher). They always bring you tea, which is fabulous, and goes so wonderfully with everything. Anytime I get take-out here, the leftovers last me 2-3 days. Score. They also let me have as many fortune cookies as I want. Double score. This place totally has my 5 star vote, and likely always will. read more

The food is exactly the same, booths are the same, decor the same, menu the same - just price changed, of course :) The same people own and work here since they bought it and it's typical big serving, fried Chinese food, but the quality is always excellent. Ive been going to kwang chow for 30 years or more and they were always worth bragging about. The last two times I was there it was awful. They served our food in to go boxes. The sweet and sour sauce has changed. The food taste bland our drinks were in a can and the drinking glasses didn't even match. The rice looked burnt the chow me in was all celery. They have been in business for 40 years and have a ton of regulars including us. My husband has been coming here since they opened when he was a kid. I love their Kung Lao shrimp and lo mein. We always order B dinners with sweet and sour chicken ( get the sauce on the side so it doesn't get soggy) and I always sub pork chow mein because that is what I like. The cashier was very nice but when I got home to try my #3 combo of "pork chow mein, fried shrimp, and pork fried rice" I could barely eat it. The "chow mein" had literally no noodles in the entire box- just what I assumed was crumbles of pork and wet, slimy bean sprouts. The pork fried rice was extremely bland and had absolutely nothing in it except chunks of overcooked pork and the flavorless rice. I was given something along the lines of sweet and sour sauce or maybe what was supposed to be cocktail sauce for the fried shrimp, but it just tasted like weird ketchup. My family has been going here for years and we've never had a bad experience--and I mean we're the kind of people who won't go back if we have to send something back to the kitchen. The food is always delicious and hot, it's rarely busy, has good hours, and fabulous fake brick walls that look fake from afar and up close--can't beat that! The tea is good and hot, the egg rolls are massive and to die for, and you get a good amount of food. 'Good amount' in this case means that the four of us will go, get a combo, and ALWAYS leave with at least a meal in leftovers. Even when you carry-out, you still get a ton of yummy food--plus tea bags! Only downside is that the place is cash only. read more

Even the same people serving me for over 20 years. If you are a snob, this place is NOT for you.
