Today I was really craving oysters, so I looked up what was around me and this cute little spot popped up. The ambiance was adorable, with such a nice patio out back--perfect for a warm day! Unfortunately, oysters are only available on Sundays, but we decided to grab a couple of other little snacks instead. We got the steak tartare, and I have to say, it was honestly some of the best I've had in a long time. It had the perfect smoky touch and absolutely hit the spot. We also tried the sardine plate, which was such a fun little snack. The tzatziki sauce surprisingly paired so well with the Spanish sardines and really pulled everything together. Spanish sardines with a Middle Eastern-inspired sauce? Pretty clever! Our server was also lovely and came out to check on us throughout our visit, which made the experience even better. For just a little drop-in snack, the whole experience was surprisingly memorable and definitely left us wanting to come back. Such a cute spot! Dare I say it? Someday might be my second favorite spot to get seafood in Portland, right behind Jacquelines - which if you know the cult following on Jacquelines in Portland, that is saying something. The ambiance is downright whimsical! Great wine selection, gorgeous floral installations, and one of those spaces where you immediately want to settle in with a book in hand. But let's talk about the crudo. I still think about that crudo. Bright, lemony, silky olive oil - simple but done so well. We even asked our waitress if we can keep the leftover olive oil to use it with the bread we ordered lol The oysters were also fantastic. They were barbecued, which isn't something you see every day. A little drier than a raw oyster, but still full of flavor. Limited seating so be sure to call ahead of time for a reservation if need be. This feels like the kind of place you celebrate something special, and honestly, I would not mind spending a birthday here at all! It was my first time here and we wanted to get oysters, but they only have that on Sundays. But this was a nice late night stop for some drink, drinks and carbs! The pate did not have that after taste of liver or iron taste. The steak tartare was phenomenal with bread. The anchovies were pretty salty, but with the oil and lemon vinaigrette it balanced out with bread. My drinks or gin, gin, fizz, which was refreshing. The other one I got was Harry and David. If I remember that correctly, that was also light and refreshing. Will most likely have to come back for brunch on Sundays. Wonderful little spot hidden in an alley, we had a great bottle of chilled red here on a warm summer evening with some burrata and bread, and got some great tips from Hayley for other places to try both in the neighborhood and farther out. Came here for an oyster popup and was happy to try their other dishes as well. Starting off, the crudo was the bomb. I had never tried it before and the flavor of raw fish mixed in with olive oil was exquisite. With ousters, we ordered both regular and bbq flavoring. The regular ones were great, but something felt off about the bbq. Maybe not the restaurant, but the flavor added and the way the oyster was cooked wasn't the expectation we had going into it. I was also happy to see they serve orange wine here which paired nicely with the seafood dishes. On a gloriously sunny day, the patio at Someday is perfection. The inside has a minimalist modern feel but somehow manages to feel cozy and comforting. Cute bar that is hidden from the main road! I never hear of Someday but went to Ruthies to grab some food and was able to sit inside to grab some drinks to enjoy with our meal. We were lucky to nab a couple seats at the bar to enjoy the space and cocktails. Cocktails here were balanced and really delicious! I came for the Tlaxco Tacos pop-up with Son of Sagardo, so not sure how representative this is of a normal experience. It is a very cozy space and probably would be challenging for large crowds. The ambience has just the right lighting and warmth. The staff were generally attentive and friendly. For the event itself, I enjoyed my wine but really thought there's be more cider from Son of Sagardo. The hamachi tostada was amazing and perfectly flavorful. Super awkward bartender. Last summer I came here with my twin brother and we had both turned 21 a few months prior. The bartender made a show of ignoring our IDs and trying to make us feel unwelcome. Someday has an airy, Mediterranean feel to it, and a lovely variety of cocktails to match. Look for an alley that opens onto SE Division St -the only signage I noticed out on the sidewalk was for one of the food carts in the patio area behind the bar (which hopefully have a nice, symbiotic relationship with Someday). We did not try any of the food, but's always nice to leave with new things to try on your next trip. The atmosphere at Someday (I'm using a capital 'S', so it hopefully stands out more as the business name) is what will really get me out of the house - this feels like a real destination, not moored in a particular place or time, but someplace that I'd really enjoy hanging out. read more

Truly a hidden gem- the front entrance is down an alley way so you might miss it, but what a treasure! We stopped in for some pre-dinner drinks, and ended up ordering food as well as our neighboring tables were both ooohing and ah-ing! The Gin Fizz cocktail was truly one of the best I have ever had- velvety smooth with the addition of rose water. We came here to grab a drink while getting dinner from the food carts outside and the service was extremely slow at Someday - the server came by once to take our drink orders then bring them by and we never saw him again. After about an hour I had to go up to the register and wait for someone to come by to let us pay our bill so we could leave since the waiter never came back by our table to ask how things were or to bring us the bill. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't heard of this bar from local write ups, but let me pretend: a really hip friend who lives blocks from the venue recommended it and I pretended to be cooler by pretending I had no idea of its existence. I'm by no means a super cool person (referring to "Portland" cool here) so I'd been wary of showing up and feeling a fool. That said, after a few Tequila Martinez at an overpacked Pearl bar, I took him up on his offer to go and give it a try. SO COOL. SO HIP. I promise you, walking in felt like stepping into a well lit desert oasis. The bar is a pretty small modern looking space tucked into an alley in the Richmond neighborhood. Lots of neutral colors going on, which is definitely #trending. Servers looked like what you expect. Tats, fisherman beanies and that slightly aloof stare that tells you you're not quite as awesome as them. The drink menu looked pretty straightforward, with clearly named cocktails and a decent list of by the glass wines and a few beers on tap. The food options range from tinned sardines and crackers to a Snickers ice cream bar sandwich. It didn't make sense with the space but maybe there's some irony there I'm missing. The beer I chose was fine, and the olives were buttery. Looks like there's a nice outdoor area that will pack up in the warmer months. I'm an easy 4 star reviewer so there you have it. Cool servers, cool space, and an interesting menu. Definitely felt a bit of an outsider in the space, but I'll chalk it up to the small group of people in French wigs and matching attire casually drinking and hanging out. In terms of covid we also didn't feel too safe, appeared there were community tables and small tables for 2 but it was a lot of people in one place. Tl;dr: Vibes are good, drinks were tasty. Try the food carts in the patio area and you won't be disappointed. Like everyone else during quarantine last year, I downloaded Tiktok. Once I got through the weird dance videos and the whipped coffee videos I was able to narrow down my timeline to funny videos, recipe videos, and places to eat in Portland. The latter is how I found this place, and I knew that I would like to give this place a try... Someday. The weekend rolled by and I realized I didn't find a "pau hana" spot to relax and grab a few drinks at. That is when I pulled up my saved videos and made the decision to give them a try. We arrived just at 530 and there was already an hour wait. They put our name down and the approximate time to come back at then we went down the street to another backyard bar. We returned at 630/45ish and was seated immediately. The backyard patio vibe is chill. The ground is a little sandy/rocky/gravelly try not to kick dirt up. There are three food trucks in the back which makes it easy to get some food in but we will get to that later. We ordered two tiger porches which were tequila, tamarind, lime, and salt which reminded us a little more of a paloma than a margarita as described. The other drink I forgot but we then ordered three aperol spritzs which were a good refreshing way to end our time there. In between the drinks we ordered the [new!] lamb bites and new potatoes. The lamb bites were served with butter beans and labneh and was SO GOODDDD! The lamb was tender and easy to eat, while the labneh was a perfect companion. We wish we ordered a baguette. We were in a potato mood so we were very excited about the new potatoes but we were disappointed. The potatoes came out cold (not sure if that's how they are served) and was overall underwhelming. The flavor was fine but we were expecting something a little more. Since we were disappointed in the potatoes, we decided to order potatoes from Ruthies, one of the three foodcarts in this little area. The potatoes at Ruthies was PHENOMINALLLL. Skip the potatoes at Someday and go all out for what Ruthies has (sorry Someday). read more

It appeared to be such a popular spot that there was a line by the time we left. They have a great cocktail and food menu.
