I wanted to love this place because the dancers and atmosphere were great, but that blond older lady bartender completely ruined the experience. I'm a bartender myself, so I always tip for good service. My first tab was around $120, and I tipped $25 keep in mind still tipped on slow night and she took about 20 minutes to acknowledge me because she was talking too what I can assume where her friends. Later I realized my drinks were made incorrectly (gin instead of vodka and the wrong beers). When I politely mentioned it on my next order, she insisted no that's what I ordered was kinda rude about it instead of acknowledging it. I chose not to tip that round because the service simply wasn't good. The worst part came when another friend from our group went to order drinks for the first time and was clearly being ignored. Once he finally got her attention, she made it obvious she wasn't interested in serving customers who hadn't tipped and gave him a whole lecture. Tipping should reward good service not determine whether you receive basic service at all. I hope management addresses this because one bartender shouldn't overshadow an otherwise fun night. read more

The dancers are beautiful and talented and amazing so I wish I could give five stars just for them! HOWEVER! The bartender who helped me was super rude. ~middle aged woman with big glasses. I work in service so I know for a fact I was not rude to her or anything. The bar was not busy which was nice, she asked what I wanted and I ordered a very basic cocktail. The girls at Jumbos are great, but the bar staff is well.... The people behind the bar seem upset about something. The woman with the red hair was particularly rude to everyone, not just my group. We later went to a bar down the street, and the bartender there asked us where we had been that night, we told her Jumbos, and she (a bartender at a different establishment) even said it's a shame the bartenders are so rude at Jumbos because she use to love going there and hasn't since bc the terrible service. Despite this, it was still a great and memorable night. The bathroom is tiny, but so is the whole establishment. I wish the bartenders gave more of a Coyote Ugly vibe. Jumbo's is my Happy Place. It is the coolest bar/club in LA. It is legendary for good reason. Technically a bikini bar, it's really a modern, yet old school, burlesque club. The girls who dance there are real dancers, truly artists. It's an elite gig for pole dancing, and they always come up with new routines that are nothing like what you've seen anywhere else. The Queen of the Rodeo is Pantera. She is a Godess! So are Topaz, Naomi, and all the others. The space is funky and intimate, the bartenders as attentive as is possible in a place that busy. And there's no cover! Drinks are cheap, considering, but I would not recommend doing shots of the well tequila, yikes! To me it is the best running party in LA since Point Break Live! read more

They need new friendly bartenders. Red head bartender and old ass lady bartender were SO RUDE and unfriendly. Came here on a Wednesday night with 3 other girlfriends, (we are young Asian women). We arrived earlier than our other group of friends that were meeting us there. No less than 15 minutes inside they pester us about the 2 drink minimum - we would normally, happily abide by that but we're so rude about it, as we told them we are waiting for the rest of friend our friend group to come by. In return they send their bus boy to tell us to either buy 2 drinks each now as we can't just sit around and not tip or drink... or to get out. Never felt so unwelcome in an establishment. We felt so discriminated against as they assumed we were not even gonna tip the dancers, mind you in the 15 minutes we were there!! Gave us no time to even settle, enjoy anything in that place before they tried kicking us out.. Hah, we refused to give any money to them from there and just left.. on the way out saw the OLD ASS Bartender smirking at us as we walked out. Unfortunate as we've gone here around 3 times within the past year or 2 with no problems and always great time with friends and great dancers. The bartender with the red hair is extremely rude. I was waiting 10 mins for the bathroom before she got in line (immediately before this I was standing in line to get in for 30+ min). And shortly after I got into the bathroom she started shouting at me from outside the stall, banging on the door to hurry up. I don't engage with her barrage of comments because I don't like addressing people who act like children. I came out and she's standing there with the most Karen pose if I've ever seen one. Staring at me as if she's inspecting me. Acting like a bathroom hall monitor. I was so PO'ed and I asked her why she was so combative and I was telling her I had to take my contact out because my makeup ran into it and I couldn't see. The sink is in the bathroom stall so I had to wait till I got in to fix my lens. Then I had to pee and was wearing a onesie so it takes me a while to get out of my clothes to pee. But she cut me off to threaten me that she's a bartender and can get me thrown out because I'm so angry. Yeah I was angry. I know what she thought I was doing but because she was embarrassed she was wrong she cuts me off and uses what little power she has to try to make me feel small. I get that she has to use the bathroom quickly before getting back to work but she didn't have to harass and threaten me. This place should be fun, but it can get annoying when dancers or dancers friends constantly nag you for money as soon as you walk in ! . While tipping is expected, feeling pressured ( My 3 friend and I was ask for a $50 within 3 mins of being here ... and then for a $20 about 5 times before I finished half my drink ) takes away from the experience. First things first, I would never call this place a strip club. It's burlesque with a full bar. It was fun, an experience. Cons - Same songs, all older, you've heard the same rock songs a million times. I'd hope they play a song that matches the dancer. Some didn't really flow with the dance or make sense. Wish they had more of a variety of girls, all white girls, pretty similar except for the two POC girls that actually were the reason we stayed. Super friendly too! There's something about Jumbo's that really sets the vibe to another level beyond the gentlemen's club's that I have been to. There isn't sleaziness, or rude remarks, or creepy people inside; it's filled with diversity and enthusiasm. I believe it's all rooted from one thing- respect. The rules are simple: 2 drink minimum, tip the entertainers, and no photography at the stage. Period. The culture drives the enforcement of the rules as opposed to the bouncers. And everyone has a good time. They cheer and empower the dancers. The dancers hang around and have decent conversation to the crowd. It doesn't feel desperate or fake at all. I'm perplexed and impressed simultaneously, but more places need to follow their example. I recommend this spot to anyone who needs to see how a burlesque club should be handled. Might as well call this the "Klan Room" POC BEWARE. My partner and I have been here a few times on during the week and things have been fine, so last night we wanted to have some fun with a another couple so we invited them out to Jumbo's.l fully loaded with crisp dollar bills. We arrived at 9 and immediately stated getting 1950's vibes, beginning with the rude white women who couldn't acknowledge that two POC were clearly waiting in line as she loudly and rudely pushed her way past us to form a separate line. ( Should have left then) that was just a precursor to what we experienced inside. When I say the bartenders where so blatant about serving ANYONE but my husband, him being the only black man in the whole place. I just stood back and observed while tipping the dancers. The clientele were not any better, rude aggressive men and their dates or whatever. Finally after 9 songs of my husband standing directly at the bar and making eye contact with the bar tender and me being rudely gawked at and bumped around like segregation was back in effect I politely told my husband we were leaving. POC please don't visits this place we have to be smarter about where we spend our money. Jumbo's is literally the best place in the entire city. If I could give it 10 stars, I would! The dancers and bartenders are super friendly. The crowd is always super fun and not your stereotypical strip club clientele either. Just bring some ones, enjoy some stiff drinks, and have a blast! I'm going to review this by never even going inside. The fact I stood in line for an hour with absolute no movement has deterred me from ever coming back. If you're an establishment that's been around don't give your customers in line a horrible experience where they never come back. Right now you might have a line. But in the future you may have no line and beg people to show up. I've seen this happen to so many places and eventually close down. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens. I'm a gay man and not in any way aroused by women yet I love Jumbos. This place has a fun atmosphere. It's not uncomfortable as some of the strip clubs Ive experienced. This place is like a casual party bar with strippers. It's a piece of Los Angeles history and a must visit to anyone who wants to claim LA as the city they love. I have been to a surprising number of strip clubs with strait friends. Where the ladies seem to mainly aggressive hustlers who are only nice when you are showering them with stupid amounts of money. They went above and beyond! I heard of this place from some patrons who frequent the Frolic Room, heard stories about Courtney Love and Lemmy so me and my friend from Las Vegas decided to visit Jumbo's since I'm intrigued by Hollywood History. Door Person gave us a short and sweet spiel about the basic rules (2 drink min, no photos, etc.) politely and wished us a good time, and oh was it positive. What I witnessed was community support for talented performers who dance with artistry and athleticism. I had no issues with the bar service, they do deal with a large volume, you just have to be patient and they will get to you. As for the performers, they do not just 'phone it in' and 'punch the clock', they put lots of energy into their routines, displaying years of training. I also got friendly personality vibes from them. On another positive note, after closing time, one of the staff, a gentleman with a UK accent, Nigel if I remember correctly, and some of the other performers went beyond the call of duty to wait until I safely got into my Lyft, which was delayed which led me to wait alone outside on Hollywood Blvd (my friend and I were staying in different places so we couldn't ride share). I dug a bit deeper into the history of Jumbo's and read that the performers do more than dance, they are activists, feminists, who advocate for social change as well as philanthropist. They have donated to various organizations and charities. The fact that they ensured my safety cements this. So please support them, they are in an industry that often exploits them, these performers and staff are functioning members of the economy who are expected to do so much, and they deserve more. read more

This place is fantastic. Read about it on Time Out and honestly couldn't skip it. First of all this is NOT a strip club. All of the dancers (which are very talented) do sexy performances, each one in their own style, but they don't get naked. All of the time the dances are done on underwear or swimsuits. Secondly, there is a large percentage of females on the audience, which makes it easier if you are there to be amazed by the show. As a pole dancer myself, I was surprised with some of the girls. And later I found out that my favorite (Roxanne) is a pole competitor. Their moves and tricks are impressive. This is a sexy acrobatic show, get ready. There is no cover charge to get it, but you should tip the dancers well, because it ain't easy to do what they do. Drinks range from $8-$12, which I personally think is not so expensive. Certainly a different night out in LA. If you want to do a bachelorette party or be amazed by upside down pole figures, come on over. read more

I was in Hollywood last night for a concert 6/21/23 and my hotel just happen to be right next door to Jumbos. After the concert I walked over to Jumbos around midnight and had an awesome time. There was no issues with the door guy or anybody for that matter. I had a really good experience and the women were beautiful and badass dancers. I'm not big into strip clubs but this place blew my mind. Being tired of $15+ drinks we stopped by here as I was just over being fancy for the night. Turns out this was one of my favorite stops of the night. Laid back service, the cheapest drinks in the area which was such a nice change, you can get 3 drinks here for the price of one anywhere else. The place itself is really just a room, not big at all. They do have quite a bit of bar seating and a few tables, we went at about 10 and there was still seating, I'm sure that changes later at night. How does a girl like me end up at Jumbo's Clown Room on a Monday night? Well, my friends from Seattle were visiting and since we were having drinks down the street, I suggested we head to this place. Of course, the boys in our group were like "yessssss!" ;D However, for someone like me who enjoys pole dancing as a form of fitness, I was there for very different reasons! The friendly bouncer explained the rules before we entered: - no photos - tip the dancers - have fun! For a place that has no cover and no drink minimum, the rules sound reasonable to me! This place is much smaller than I imagined and for a Monday night, I was impressed to see a full house! Even though it was mostly men taking the front seats right up by the stage, it was also cool to see that at least half of the patrons were women. At the bar, I got a bit of a vibe that the girl bartender didn't want to help me. Whatever, I didn't let it ruin my night. Especially since everyone else was nice to us (bouncer, our waitress, the dancer girl I met in the ladies room, etc.) The pole is only about 8ft tall so I was wondering how complicated the pole tricks will be. There's only so much you can do. But the dancers worked it! It gave me lots of ideas on what to work into my own fitness repertoire. I also like that the stage has so many mirrors all around. Years ago I once heard a guy say about Jumbo's Clown Room "Where strippers go to die." I don't know what he's talking about because the dancer girls looked like they were in their 20's (maybe early 30's) and they were all beautiful and I loved several of the shiny studded outfits that they were wearing (or "have to wear" since there is no nudity.) My friend even pushed a $5 bill toward her hubby and said "Give the pretty pole dancer some money, dear!" hahaha I think that took the thrill out of his experience.
