On an impromptu trip to the strip of bars along this area of DTLA we were recommended to stop by here! Even if you don't know exactly where it is, you can hear the joy floating down the sidewalk outside. You pass by many clubs and bars on the way here, bumping and closed off with cordons, but when you wander anywhere near here, it's very clear that THIS is who's having the most fun! I honestly wasn't feeling very good, but it's hard not to smile when you look around at everyone dancing and screaming their heart out! As a former theater kid, (but you never really stop being one) I can attest this place totally has that vibe, as others have said. I wish I got more pictures, but I was enjoying the energy and atmosphere! Definitely will be back, and I highly recommend!

    1920s decor, bar

Labeled an energetic retro-style piano bar with 1920s decor - the decor and drinks (great happy hour deals) live up to the expectations. However, during my visit the live piano music was lacking. During the entirety of the visit (couple of hours), the pianist was only playing Disney-themed/esque songs and looking after the 2 other visitors that were sat in front of him to sing along. There was no advertisement made online about the nature of the music being played - so we're assuming this selection was at the preference of the pianist. We saw multiple people come and go quickly, likely because of this. I do understand music is subjective, but would be cool to see the concept of live music being catered to the entirety of the audience, not just the happy few. Having visited from pretty far away, I can now only imagine what the bar is like on a good day. :)

Had a great experience here on a Friday night! A piano/singalong bar, this place is good vibes all around. The pianist the night we came was taking song requests, and singing a mix of pop, Disney, and musical theater songs. House shots are $10 each for a pretty big shot, so I'd say good value for the area. We also tried their seasonal espresso martini (5/5), that had hints of chai and maybe gingerbread - delicious!! There is seating and standing room, but most of the small tables with seats had reserved signs on them. There's also two larger rooms with tables, an intimate space for a group but with still plenty of open access to the bar/music. The bar was decorated for Christmas, although I wish they had a few more themed Christmas drinks, as most offered were fall/autumn vibes. Overall a wonderful experience!

Came here for a fun impromptu musical bingo night with my financé! We've always been fans of Mr Criss and Mrs. Von Criss, so we were very excited to finally visit their bar-- let alone a piano bar! When we first got there, we were obsessed with the decor in the intimate space. It's not TOO crowded to where you'd feel like you couldn't move anywhere, but not too big to where the space felt almost impossible to fill. We tried their Boob Soup, and it packed a punch! I can see why they limit it to 2 per person. Be aware, this establishment doesn't serve food as they specialize more in drinks. They do have some pre-packaged bags of chips (we got Lays Sour Cream & Onion), so come prepared by already eating prior, or nothing at all to get to your buzz quicker hehe. We can't wait to come here for a chill night, when they don't have an event going on but rather just to enjoy the ambiance of it all.

Came here for a holiday party for my work and it was such a great time! The drinks were very tasty but the best part was the amazing pianist - she is SO talented! Will definitely come again for a night out with friends.

Theater kid energy in the best way!!! Stumbled upon this piano bar by chance just because the outside looked cool. If you like fruity drinks, order boob soup (lychee vodka cocktail) so yummy. I hate old fashions but my friends liked the old faithful (earl grey bourbon). Free water dispensers on the sides of the bar too. The space is quite intimate with little sitting room so be prepared to stand. Which isn't hard because the music selection will make you dance all night. Disney songs, Lady Gaga, ABBA, etc we had so much fun singing our hearts out! Amazing pianists with amazing vocals and the bartender sang too and she was of course fabulous. We ended up leaving around 1130pm when it started to get hot and crowded. Super lucky to have found this gem. Need to come back!

A cute photo outside the bar.

This was a real fun place to visit for my birthday. The cocktails were on point, the service was great, the piano man was good. (Not the best...definitely too many classics he didn't know or didn't want to play...a little poppy for my taste but I'm also 47...and it was a little weird that his mom, sister(?)/and wife(?) were there, but whatever). We danced and imbibed and it was cool. The ONE THING tho that I REALLLLLLLLY hated was getting the bill for the night (approx 1.5 hours) and having an AUTOMATIC gratuity added to our bill AND TAXED on that gratuity, and then egregiously provided yet another option to tip the staff. I'm not even sure how that's legal on a party of 4. - actually 2. I think our friends were smarter and paid cash instead of with debit. The auto added tip was 20%. Which our waitress probably won't even get; and if she does, does she have to pay tax on THAT AS WELL??

CUTE WITH A LOT OF PERSONALITY PROS------ VIBE: Cool vibe inside and great decor. DRINKS: Great selection of specialty cocktails. I loved the actress/waitress margarita. Cilantro infused and very spicy. MUSIC: Live music is always great and it is very easy to request a song via QR code. FREE SHOT: You get a free lemon drop shot on entry which is nice. Helps offset the cover charge. CONS------ COVER: There is a cover charge on entry and rate changes depending on the night SEATING: Very limited seating that mostly needs reservation and charged for PARKING: Parking can be tough but there are random lots around and valet but just a bit expensive

Great experience, and is the overall ambiance is amazing! It is a musical bar owned by Darren Criss, and I had the experience to go to his Musical Bingo. I had so much fun, and will definitely go again!

Ask the Community - Tramp Stamp Granny's

I'll be there this coming Saturday with my mom and wife for her bday. We don't necessarily need bottle service for a party of 3, are there tables that can accommodate us?

Yes but I would definitely recommend a reservation

I know the dress code is "Dress to impress" - Are dark jeans okay for guys?

Yes! Please see the dress code on our website for more specifics.

Hi - do you have a number we could call to inquire about bottle service and reservations for a group? We sent an email but have not received a response (my friend Christy sent the email)?

Hi! Is Tramp Stamp Granny's Currently open?

We are open Thursday - Saturday from 8p to 2a. We do have a private event tomorrow and will be opening to the public starting at 11p. The best place to find out if we’re closed for private events is our Instagram account. Hope to see you soon!

Is tsg currently open went last night and was closed during the hours posted on website?

Yes, we’ve been temporarily closed since last year. Thank you very much for stopping by! We will announce our opening on IG and will update Yelp as well. Can’t wait to see everyone soon! We miss you all.

Is there a place away from the pianos if I wanted to bring 30 friends for a bday?

There are separate side rooms, but honestly, it's not that big of an establishment... 30 people might be a lot.

Can someone come if they are under 21 but of course do not drink?

No, they ID at the door. It is 21+

Do you still have Disney night every Thursday?

Yes. There’s only been 1 Thursday recently that we did not have Disney night but we notify everyone via Instagram if we’re not having Disney night.

    Small bites to order available?

We do not serve any food.

Is there a cover charge to get it?

    Nope!

What's cover charge on a weekend night?

    No cover!

Where can you find out about their theme nights coming up?

    Instagram is the best place.

    Is TSG 18+ or 21+?

    21+

Is this a good spot for a first date?

I would not want to go on a first date here. I love TSG, but I just think it is a much more fun place to go with friends you feel totally comfortable belting out show tunes with. Maybe come here for third date once you've gotten a chance to know…

I was instantly so glad we chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary because it was the perfect setting for a romantic date night. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was delicious, with the exception of the Korean aguachiles, which we probably could've skipped. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't necessarily something out of the ordinary, but it sure tasted like it. The perfect crisp, flavor, and seasoning had us eating every last piece right down to the bone. Our server also made the experience even better. She gave us some of the best recommendations and were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. I think I ended up paying $12 and added tip on top of that. The restaurant itself is cozy. Everyone was dressed up~ so I'd say this place is a little more dressy than casual. The menu isn't too expensive, which is kind of nice. The korean aguachile was yummy and reminiscent of dongchimigooksu type of broth. The crispy kimchi pancake was divided into six parts and topped with some greens with a side of dipping sauce. This was yummy, but if you've had Korean pancake before this is pretty standard. The creamy chicken broth and fresh noodle was also a nice little soup to share. I don't recall anything, particularly stand out about this dish though. Stir fried hen of the woods mushroom: this is a nonspicy ddukbokki with mushroom. It was a good dish for the vegetarian minded friend at the table. :) Finally, I thought the short rib was the best dish we had that evening. It was nicely cooked and seasoned, and incredibly tender to eat. Service was attentive, and everyone was very kind. Overall, a very pleasant experience and would come again.

The restaurant really does feel tucked away once you get inside the Rodeo Collection. The space has warm lighting, colorful details, and a playful Mexican-inspired look that makes dinner feel fun without becoming over-the-top. We started with guacamole and empanadas before moving on to tacos. The Baja Style Fish Tacos were a favorite, with crisp fish, fresh slaw, and chipotle aioli. I also had the Grilled Prime New York Taco, and the steak was cooked really well and stayed tender. With the caramelized onion, guacamole, and salsa fresca, it had plenty of flavor without feeling overloaded. Between those two, we were already very happy with our taco choices, and there wasn't much left on the table by the end. The cocktails were excellent. I'm usually pretty understanding when restaurants are busy or short-staffed, but that didn't seem to be the case during our visit. The atmosphere is immersive, theatrical, moody, and every nook and cranny of this place is beautifully detailed. Our group embraced the requested all-black dress code, and I was a little disappointed that some other guests didn't play along. When a place puts this much effort into creating a particular world, dressing the part really does make the experience more fun. The spirits themselves were excellent. We tasted vodka, whiskey, and rum, and all three were remarkably smooth, interesting, and clearly very high quality. I loved that the tasting was guided rather than just having drinks dropped in front of us. The storytelling and presentation made us pay attention to what we were actually tasting and gave the evening a nice sense of progression. We also happened to be there while comic artist Matt Harley of Marvel fame was sketching, which felt perfectly suited to the setting and made an already unusual night even more memorable. The space is gorgeous: candlelight, artwork, strange little details everywhere, dramatic lighting, beautiful glassware, and even the outdoor fire element. There's so much to look at that you feel like you're discovering something new every time you turn around. Our whole group LOVES Halloween, so this felt like the absolute perfect way to kick off spooky season. It has exactly the kind of dark, mysterious, slightly magical atmosphere we were hoping for without feeling cheesy or gimmicky. We loved the rum so much that we ended up buying a bottle, which also granted us Level 1 membership, so this definitely won't be our only visit. Such a fun choice for a birthday celebration, date night, or a night out with friends when you want something completely different from the usual bar experience. We notified staff immediately, but the response was surprisingly indifferent. We were told that phone thefts "happen," which wasn't reassuring at all. We also asked for help reviewing security camera footage since we were seated directly in front of a camera, but days went by with little to no communication despite multiple attempts to reach the bar through DMs and email. Whether or not the theft itself could have been prevented, the lack of urgency, communication, and concern for customers left a terrible impression. If phone theft is something staff are already aware happens, I would expect much more proactive support when a guest becomes a victim. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this bar based on how the situation was handled. If you visit, keep an extremely close eye on your belongings.
