I come to this strip mall from time to time for the alterations next door- and on this particular Sunday, after finishing brunch at a nearby spot, we decided to get a drink before going back home. Only problem is that every spot within walking distance was closed until 5pm. So rather than go home, we popped in here not really knowing what to expect and had a little drink before catching an Uber back home. I liked how the bartender immediately asked for ID from us both. My transition glasses hadn't even changed from dark to light before he asked and I couldn't see him properly, lol, which he actually noticed and acknowledged. My partner got a beer and I got a cider- they're cash only! That said, the prices are still what you're going to find anywhere else, so it kind of feels like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too. A few regulars were inside- I could tell by the way they all seemingly knew each other - which was nice. My girlfriend and I have been regulars at The Drawing Room for quite some time. One of the reasons we keep coming back is because of the great experience we've always had with staff members like Nat and Cristina. They are consistently friendly, welcoming, and even take the time to show kindness to our dog, which means a lot to us. Unfortunately, our experience this past Tuesday night was the exact opposite. Although Ashley was not technically working, her interactions with us made us feel completely unwelcome and uncomfortable. It was disappointing, especially considering how much we have enjoyed coming to this bar over the years. We understand that everyone can have a bad day, but the way we were treated left a lasting impression. We genuinely enjoy The Drawing Room and appreciate the staff members who make it a welcoming place. However, we will be avoiding visits when Ashley is there because of this experience. Best dive bar in LA. Staff is amazing and accommodated me and my dog. After coming in alone I told them I was only good for one round and I told the staff he was outside in the car. After I showed them the cameras of him in the car waiting for me they insisted I bring him inside and then they gave him treats and served me with pleasure. I sat at the (almost empty) bar for around 6 minutes before the girl working behind it noticed me. She asked what we wanted, then gracelessly snapped at my two friends for not knowing yet (they had just arrived). I asked her for a bud-light bottle, which she provided. One minute later, she came back and asked me where her tip was. I almost started laughing. We're always friendly, mind our business, and have fun playing darts. He recently made racist and sexist comments to me and my friends while telling us to "turn our decibels down" after cheering for each other. One time I came to this dive bar and it was cash only and some dragon lady kept telling me my lucky numbers and I couldn't write them down because we were holding hands and I tried to let one of them go but then we started kissing and it was cool but her eyes were closed and i was just watching her eye balls move under those lids and I tasted one of her teeth and it wasn't bad but the fact that it had a flavor made me go deeper, beyond the tooth to get away from thinking about what could give it that sharp flavor, and then my shoe started to come off cause I was like leaning all weird like a horse laying down and the bartender was nice and didn't stare and the dewd playing darts had a funny stink (probably cheap cologne) but it didn't matter because the dragon lady knew the dart dewd and we all became friends and to this day my lucky numbers haven't changed. I had not been here for a long time but I made the trek on the red line for a good friend's birthday gathering. "Party" would be too strong of a word, since the dour ambiance is not the least bit festive. I don't know if they are trying to attract vampires or what, but the lack of windows is a definite drawback to this bar. The dearth of natural or artificial lighting also resulted in me not being able to see the pizza which we commissioned from next door, which led to a huge grease stain on my shorts. We paid $1 for the juke box, which was supposed to get us 4 songs. Instead the machine requested more money to buy credits, and wouldn't refund the original deposit. On the positive side, the beer is reasonably priced. I think people come here because they are trying to make a statement. Not sure what the statement is exactly. Perhaps broadcasting that they are not part of the gentrifying crowd at pinky's?
