GEM!!! Joel, and the rest of the crew have done an outstanding job "freshening up" this historic landmark. i've been coming here since i was two years old, and take pride in the Heidelberg. I am also now an owner in their timeshare program which i recommend. Since the change in hands, this place has received the care it rightfully deserves, and reminds me again of the childhood memories i have come to treasure. The game room was always a highlight for everyone, as well as the nostalgic roaring 20's old hollywood guest lists proudly framed on the lobby walls. Can't forget the LARGEST 4 sided fireplace featured in the Guinness Book of World records. Sierra Wave across the street is always good for candy and cool keepsakes of "Classic June" too. Reservations made 5 months in advance. No mention of the ongoing massive roof construction. Room had a generator out our window going from 8am-6pm. No open window for fresh mountain air. Could not open curtains..we attempted to re-room and we were met with an unwillingness to accommodate. Beds are uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin. Look elsewhere! read more

We stayed for 3 days, two nights to see June Lake sights! The style of this hotel is eclectic. It's awesome and majestic. Decorated with Halloween stuff Goblins and other ghouls looking rough. Cobwebs and skeletons all over the place This inn is a pretty big space! Our room was like an apartment The living area was in a different compartment, Separated from the bedroom, Many rooms for me to do my classes on Zoom! Each room had a television A window with a picturesque view in your vision. The kitchen was well equipped You would've tripped! A fridge, a stove, and a microwave Cooked dinner one night cuz we felt brave. Utensils, plates, glasses, and cups I'm not sure if you can bring your pups. My wife Lacey and I (Robert) stayed with our 4 kids mid March 2023. We booked last minute and got a great room and price. We had stayed once before about a year prior and were happy to meet new Managment. Joel, who runs the place was very friendly and helpful and a big improvement from the previous less friendly Manager. We love this place for the view, spa, dry sauna and history. The lobby is beautiful and I really like the 4 sided fire place. A great deal and a fun place to be. Location is great too, we'll be back. read more

Booked 3 rooms end of January. The ceiling flooded 2 of the 3 units for days with leaked water down the wall, onto the counter and into the carpeting. They gave us a bucket and rags. That's it, no other consideration! The units will have a mold issues because they didn't bring in fans and dry things out, #101,#102&#103. read more

First time staying here and will definitely stay again next time we are in June Lake Loop. Dorothy checked us in and she was friendly and very personable. All the employees we spoke to were all very nice. The hotel itself is an older establishment which has much personality. Apparently it was a destination for many celebrities in its heyday. They offer excellent coffee in the mornings along with hot chocolate and cider. They had an ice cream social one particular evening, I thought that was nice. Another nice perk was that you could do your laundry after 4pm, for free! Just bring your own detergent or you can purchase some from the hotel. This is my third year visiting the Heidelsberg Inn in gorgeous June Lake. Although a bit dark and old, it is well kept and maintained. Each year something has been updated, from the repavement of the parking lot, updating of the bathrooms, and new furniture. The staff here is what makes my stays enjoyable. The front desk is very polite and helpful. They are also very knowledgable of the area and activities to do (they've actually hiked most of the trails in the area themselves)! Any and all issues are promptly address. The rooms are cozy and have everything that you may need. All you need to do is pack up your suit case, grab some groceries, and head out. They also allow you to check out additional items such as waffle makers, panckage griddles, and BBQ utensils. Each morning, they have a stocked bar with coffee, hot water, a variety of teas, hot chocolate, apple cider, and freshly made cinnamon rolls! In the evenings, they alternate between roat beer floats, ice cream sundaes, and movie nights. On the property, they have a room dedicated to fish cleaning with a freezer to store your fish, a room for your skiing equipment, laundry room (which is free), hot tubs, sauna, and a game room consisting of a pool table, ping pong, and arcade games. I'm glad to have found such an enjoyable place to stay in such a beautiful area. Looking forward to next year! read more

My family and I stayed here during the week and it was the cutest little spot! I was a little nervous to stay here based upon some of the negative reviews I read but I was so happy with our stay. Check in after hours was easy due to the staff contacting us. During these covid times the inn was quiet so it made us feel safe from overcrowding and the rooms were exactly what we needed. I have no idea how nice this property is but I want people to know that we go to Mammoth/June lake at least 4 times a year and I made a reservation here on 9/2 through booking.com which we use for all our hotel reservations. It was a cancelable reservation and I have confirmation from Booking.com stating that there was zero fee for canceling. They charged my American Express for full amount immediately we had to cancel the same day and they have not refunded my credit card and I've sent them 3 emails and they have not responded to any of them. We stayed here for four nights on a recent ski trip to June Mountain. This is a timeshare property, but we booked it nightly, like a hotel room. The only difference from a hotel is daily maid service was for an additional fee. We did not get it or miss it. The front desk staff was always helpful. The property is old but the rooms are recently renovated. The lobby looks great with the huge fire place and animal heads on the walls. It looks like out of an old movie (and it was). There is a game room with ping pong (free), pool ($1), foosball ($.50), and several old arcade games. There are two outside spas with great views, and decently hot water. There are ski lockers near the entrance. Our two bedroom unit was quite large and could sleep 6 just fine. There was a full kitchen and a dining table for 6. There were 3 flat screen HD TVs, but the cable was not HD. Still they had plenty of channels. The living room had a DVD/VCR combo. Our unit has a great view of June Lake. It was a corner unit, but also jutted out so we had views back toward Gull Lake. This was a great place to ski out of. Being right is town is great. Getting our skis and board waxed overnight across the street at Ernie's was a breeze. For breakfast, we just walked across the street to the El Tigre Cafe. It we had wanted, we could have shopped at the Market and cooked in our room to save money. The Heidelberg Inn is definitely a better value than any comparable place I could have stayed in Mammoth. Combine that with how much cheaper it is to ski June Mountain, and this was a great value ski vacation. And my family loved to ski June Mountain. read more

This hotel is so clean and the staffs are very nice. They provide a coffee and tea in the morning. We stayed at the two bedrooms room which has a little patio and easy walk to near by store and restaurant. It has a little kitchen which is very convenient for 4 of us to have quick / good breakfast before we head out for a day. We drove to Yosemite for two days. For this price and location. I will be back. I highly recommended. I found out on this trip that it is also close to ski resort too. read more

I have been staying in June Lake for 40 years now and have never stayed at this location until this week. I was very impressed. This Hotel / condo Resort is old but is clean and rustic. The Heidelberg is a timeshare that also rents rooms out like a hotel. I didn't have a reservation, so I got the "walk-in rate" for my room, which was reasonable. The regular rate would have been too high for what this offers, in my opinion. This place was built in the early 1900s or so, and it would seem to have a lot of history (there are period photos in the main common area), but it's quite drab inside. I was disappointed that there seemed to be little architectural trace of that earlier era. There's a giant four-sided fireplace in the center, but that's about it. It looks like it was refurbished in the 1980s. The public area is uninspired, overwhelmingly burgundy, and very dark. When inside there's no hint (or view) of the beauty that lies just outside. It's unfortunate, really. My room was pretty spacious, with separate living and sleeping areas, a full mini kitchen, and a dining room. All was in good order. The heater, however, is an ancient Thermador in-wall unit, which was difficult to operate. It did eventually heat the room pretty well, however. Outside temp went down to 0F overnight, and the room remained comfortable. Bottom line: The rooms are clean and well equipped, but the overall place doesn't really stand out, and I've definitely experienced better for the same money in similar settings. read more

Three cheers for recently renovated rooms! Despite the age of this historic property, we were warm and comfortable. Having a corner unit was probably one reason we slept peacefully too. I was able to cook most of our meals but you have to plan just right as there are only two stove top burners and no oven. The kids loved hanging out around the enormous lobby fireplace every evening for ice cream socials and movie night. Also very nice to be able to get friendly with other hotel guests. The only way for a hotel is to get five stars from me is to make sure, on top of everything else, that the hot tub is good and hot. Nice to see this feature has not changed since our last stay. This place is old but very well maintained. Staff are incredible nice & accommodating. We ck in super late because of the required chains coming up but managers were understanding & told us where to get the key when we arrived. The room was nice & clean. The staff takes pride of this place & it shows. I would love to come back & stay here but getting a room is a challenge. I booked it thought RCI- availabilities don't come easily. Glad we got super lucky tho when snow finally came on our weekend! Made the trip truly memorable. read more

This will be our go to stay when we travel this way. It was home away from home. Each suite was like your own little home and the inn was quaint and still had all of its old time feel. The owner I want to say, was more than gracious and even called and left us a voicemail to ask how our stay was so far. When we checked out we thought about asking to extend our stay because we loved it so much!! If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the high country in between Tahoe and Yosemite valley this is it!! I cannot wait to come back. Also water pressure was amazing with a deep tub, they have a grill and a hot tub of you need to soak after long hikes or fishing trips. Coffee every morning and snacks setup in the evening. They had amazing decor for the season or holiday. This time it was Halloween and it was decked out. The bed was comfortable and windows opened at night for a cool breeze. Don't worry if you need heat they have that too. The kitchenette was more than convenient to heat up easy meals if you were hiking and fishing like we were. The kitchen comes equipped with fridge, microwave and a 2 burner cooktop. Has all utensils for eating cooking. Pots, pans, bowls storage containers etc. By far the best place I've stayed at. read more

We booked it very quickly based on the reviews and the photos. It is much bettter than we thoughts. First of all, April is still low season therefore there are not many tourists around but, the scenery and the surroundings are amazing. The staff at the Hotel is very professional and the rooms are spacious, clean and have everything we needed for the weekend. The restaurants in June Lake are not particularly exciting but we went grocery shopping and cooked in our room. Also internet was pretty snappy. We will be back for sure. read more

When coming to June it was obvious the Heidelberg was the only real place to stay. As my wife and I were walking up the slippery stairs the maintenance man yells down at us giggles and says , "don't eat shit" and walks away. As we walked in to ask the lady what room number we had she said she didn't speak English and would be right back, my wife and I took a walk and got some water for the women to return and say there is no one else here and we would be helped at a later time. To which I turned to my wife and said we should go to the town over where there were much better options. Then the lady offered treats like cookies and brownies to make up for the inconvenience, the second we took a bite she said that'll be $3, she also knew more English then she said she did. After paying for the stale treats we go up to our room for me to find blood on my pillow, and the other side had a brown spot on it that smelt like a yak took a shit on it, you may ask how do I know what a yak shit smells like, I'll tell ya, I stayed here that's how I know. Just to top it off the walls are really thin, how do we know? Our kids said there was yelling coming from another room, we go to check it out to find out they are having hardcore sex banging on the walls next to our kids room. This next part will make your jaw drop, when we went to knock on the door to let them know to keep it down, the lady from earlier opened half drunk, to what I can only assume was her boyfriend in the background making weird groaning noises, at this point my wife and I went back to the room, planning to leave in the morning, we put a sign on the door that reads do not disturb so we could sleep in, earlier than expected they knocked on our door asking if they could clean when I replied with haven't you done enough. All In all I walked out the front door looked back and said thanks for ruining our vacation. read more

We just got back after staying a week(july4th) at the resort and we loved it! ** 1st- Finding the place was confusing because there is no sign in the front, and you have to drive to the back to park, but easy fix.. we just asked. **2nd- It's smaller than the resorts we've been too but it has a family feel to it and it was not crowded. The resort was clean, always smelled fresh. When you first enter it takes you back in time with the decor and photos of the past. We had a 2 bedroom which was spacious for 5 people. It has decent kitchen with appliances and cookware needed. Clean & upgraded w/ free WI Fi.. major points for that. **3rd Staff was friendly and response to our request. Sheila even helped us clean our fish (yes were city people).. **4th And the BEST FRESH coffee every morning, or & either tea, lemon or cucumber water!! Where else do they make you fell at home! **5th Have a game room for the kids, which was great cause mine spend a lot of time down there after our outings. ** diffidently recommend this place. read more

When I first got here I admit I was a bit nervous from the old exterior appearance. The lobby was dimly lit and the rooms had no AC. As time went on, however, I became accustomed and even enjoyed the historic Inn with its rustic charm and friendly staff. Sure, the facilities are a bit lacking--one working washer for the entire building, outdated 80's arcade games, minimal resort food/activities--but it is more than 80 years old and has a some history. The fireplace lobby with the bear is amazing and must be a cozy social spot to unwind in the winter. The bathrooms are newly renovated. And with mountain breezes there actually is no need for AC even in summer. Most importantly, it has amazing views of the mountains. Overall, a quaint place to stay if you're okay taking a break from the steel and glass world. read more

The Heidelberg Inn is a special place in the Eastern Sierras. It's like stepping into another era when you enter the classic central lobby with it's giant fireplace, stuffed bear, and photos of movie stars from the early days of Hollywood. Yet though the lobby feels old and classic, our room was modern, fresh, and well appointed with a fully functional kitchen and modern, fairly high end bath. The views out our windows were the best: snow covered mountains as the backdrop to beautiful mountain lakes. The staff was the best also: friendly, helpful and effective. Free laundry room had 2 washers and 4 dryers! And the price was cheap for all of this. A classic mountain chalet with modern amenities and great service in a beautiful high alpine valley. I wouldn't stay anyplace else unless I wanted to be right in Mammoth, but that is so mundane in comparison! read more

I wouldn't recommend Heidelberg Inn, they seem to be either incompetent or dishonest when it comes to reservations. I made a reservation several weeks in advance for the July 4 weekend. We both took time off of work to make it an extra-extra long weekend. I got a call from the hotel today, four days before my family was to arrive saying that they were overbooked. I'm not sure whether they just don't know how to handle online booking, or if they were giving my room to someone else for a higher rate. Why didn't they discover this earlier? They'd already sent me a confirmation email with all the details of what was closed due to Covid-19. I've been using Expedia for more than 10 years with probably close to a hundred hotel bookings both personal and corporate. I've never had a hotel claim that Expedia had overbooked them. How am I supposed to find a replacement hotel for my family in a prime location for a holiday weekend? The one time I did have someone at the desk give away a reservation I'd made online, they called around, traded favors, and got me a room elsewhere for the same price. Heidelberg Inn should have made some attempt to make this right other than just throwing up their hands and telling me to work it out with Expedia. That's not customer service. read more

One of those RCI resort, I love the setting and friendly staff plus the excellent fire place. I stayed during 4 of July week and love it. Althought there was no AC but it ever gets that hot here, plus it cools down really fast at night. Some of nice thing they provide is free use of laundry and dryer. read more

I stayed here last weekend and I must say it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and helpful (they let us into our rooms several times when we locked ourselves out without appearing annoyed at all). The rooms are very comfortable, and well appointed. The full kitchen was a nice touch, complete with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc... It really is too bad Mammoth closed June Lake Ski Resort, I cannot imagine how bad business is. There was hardly anyone staying at the hotel while we were there. The Heidelberg Inn is right in the middle of downtown. The Tiger Bar is just across the street and the General Store is a short 2 minute walk down the street. On the drive home I got a call from the Inn as I had left an item in the room (it had fallen behind the curtains). They offered to COD it to me, so I gave them my address. Two days later I picked up the item at the post office near LA. I was not expecting to see it for at least a week but they must have put it in the mail first thing Monday morning! If you are coming into town and need a place to stay the Heidelberg is a great option. read more

We have been coming to June Lake for many decades and have always admired that "place on the hill." The past few years we started using timeshare exchanges and other booking agencies to stay there. We will not stay anywhere else. Today is a big reason why. Sheila has a effervescent personality and a true desire to make her guests' (yes she thinks of us that way) visits wonderful. We like it so much we wanted to stay another couple of days. She not only got us two more days but we don't have to move our room and the rate is very reasonable. You can't beat this place for the price, with a friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are nice and come with everything, including a full kitchen (stove but no oven, microwave, large refrigerator, roster, coffee maker and all the necessities of a kitchen). The rooms are very clean and quiet. This place was built in the 1920's and has been updated throughout. Short walk to the lake on the main street, close to tackle store, restaurants and two marinas on June Lake. The also provide plenty of towels and linen. There is a game room with pool and ping pong tables and a couple video games. They even have a room to clean and store your catch, a deck with a couple spas and BBQ's. Thanks for the great time. Loved this place. Our family came the week after Thanksgiving. It was empty and we felt so safe with COVID. If you like quiet and great hiking with no crowds this is the week to come. It was cold but trails were still accessible. The room was clean, safe, quiet, with beautiful views. We were told the room was aired out and disinfected before our check in. Historic lodge building with great ambience and decor and wonderful added Christmas decorations. Loved the kitchenette which we used for every meal and didn't eat out at all. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating to our need for high speed internet for work. My husband worked all week and I worked part of the week with basically no major problems on Zoom. Location was wonderful- every morning we went on a power hike up June Mountajn trail just outside the hotel. The only thing I wish about this place is that we could've brought our dog. We also rented this using RCI so I'm glad we could make use of our timeshare week. read more

Our family has been coming here for over 10 years, mostly to enjoy downhill and cross country skiing, sledding, and hiking. If you are looking to get away from it all and relax, this is the place! Built as a Lodge in the 1920's, it has the original working massive stone fireplace in the middle of the lobby with wide staircases at both ends. All the rooms are recently updated and modern. The Heidelberg successfully combines the relaxing lodge feel with the comfort and convenience of modern amenities, including free WiFi. People often spend time relaxing, playing games, reading, or surfing the Web, on the comfy couches and chairs of the cozy lobby. And after a day of skiing, one can enjoy the outdoor jacuzzis or play some pool or ping-pong in the game room! The never ending coffee, tea, cocoa and lemon water out for guests are also very welcoming. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to assist you when they can. My husband and I stayed at the Heidelberg Inn in January 2017. It was our first time visiting Mammoth/June Lake so we weren't quite sure what to expect, but the Heidelberg Inn totally blew us away! The location is super convenient, right along the "main drag" in June Lake, across the street from a couple of shops, eateries, and a pub. The room itself was more than we even expected! Very spacious, nicely furnished, well-stocked kitchen, with a new and comfortable mattress. The bathroom was very clean and newly updated, with granite countertops and lovely tile. The hotel spa (hot tubs and sauna) were very nice as well: very warm, and the deck overlooks the quaint little town of June Lake with epic views of the mountains. The lobby inside is old school and super charming, with shag carpet, a huge taxidermied bear statue, and a big central stone fireplace. Adorable. Finally, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. My husband and I, being the city slickers that we are, did not rent a car for the wedding we were attending at a resort 3 miles up the road: we expected there to be at least 1 cab company we could use to get to the wedding, but alas, we were wrong! The front desk attendant was so kind, she gave us a ride (in her own car!) to the wedding when she got off her shift. This was completely over the top in terms of kindness and service. Would definitely recommend the Heidelberg Inn, and already looking forward to our next stay! read more
