    Sierra Lodge room

We booked for three nights. On arrival we found good covered parking, friendly hard-working staff to check us in, and a clean comfortable room. We asked for a top (second) floor room and received one. We felt safe opening the windows at night to cool down. Very little traffic noise from the main road. Good mattresses. Some issues: 1: Internet and TV stopped working just before we arrived. When it worked, at a quiet time of the night, we received 8 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload, which is a bit slow for uploading vacation photos. Hotel says it is the fastest available in town. 2: Without Internet, we had just enough cell signal (using AT&T) to read email and send texts but not to read the news. 3: Sharp nail in the floor next to the bathroom door and bathroom extractor fans did not work. Due to COVID-19, maintenance staff will not enter an occupied room. 4: The floor mounted AC recirculated the room air leaving the air perhaps a little less fresh than a window mounted unit. The AC cooled the room well, but after a while I found it a bit stuffy with 2 people in the room. This unit is noisier than some window-mounted units; the noise and lights may bother a light sleeper. 5: We smelled pot smoke about 7 am each day. While California allows the use of pot, the hotel is a nonsmoking property. 6: The walkway to the parking lot has breeze blocks with peeling paint! I discussed most of these concerns with the hotel via Expedia messaging and got some pushback. If I find something that needs improvement in a hotel, I tell them. Then the hotel has the chance to fix it and give the next guest a better experience. It would help if other guests did the same.

Booked this room for a holiday weekend. Almost $800 for 3 nights. NOT worth it. The front desk was super nice and accommodating. The room however was not nice at all. The chairs had screws loose which would've been ok however I have a little one who could've easily sliced their side if they hit it. The AC was a portable unit and took a whole day to cool down the room. The beds were so hard it was nearly impossible to get a good nights rest especially after hiking. The WIFI is terrible and was absolutely useless the whole weekend. There was roach killer patches (not sure what they're actually called) that were sitting under the sink, again not something safe for children. The locks on the room didn't work my son could easily open the door and get out, or someone who had a key could come in so that was really uncomfortable. The blow dryer went off because it got too hot after being in use for about 30 seconds. Overall I would not stay here again.

Stayed here 4 nights and had no problems at all. Staff was super nice and rooms were clean. Kitchenette really came in handy with the big fridge and sink. Room was big with plenty of room to move around. Jacuzzi was amazing. Will definitely stay there again next time we visit.

The hotel is a little older and is showing its age, but the price is good and the location is perfect. There is a bus stop at the corner and your right across the street from John's and Morrison's. Parking is a little difficult if you have a tall or long vehicle, but with the free bus lines during the snow season I never had to move my truck. The hotel staff was excellent! From the top down. Our room had a kitchenette with a small sink. The hotel supplies dishes, paper towels, and even dish soap. I had brought some food with me and left my personal dishes in the sink to wash later and they washed my dirty dishes for me! Our room was made up daily and the staff was always polite and professional. It was supposed to snow heavily the day before we were to check out I was concerned with my truck getting stuck in the back underground lot. The manager moved his vehicle and allowed me to back my truck Into the front lot so I could load up and pull straight out! We had one of the best times of our lives and part of that was staying here!!

Great little lodge, If you heading up to Mammoth for a winter vacation and your needs are simple this place is GREAT. The building was built in the 70's and there is no AC in the rooms but there is major heat. The rooms are HUGE compared to other places in the area. King size bed, vanity area, microwave, refrigerator, iron, love seats, patio, and HEAT and HOT water. They also offer a free breakfast. Oddly, there are some complaints on here about a FREE BREAKFAST. Sure its just oatmeal, bagels, cereal, OJ, Milk, cookies, and fruit but ITS FREE ! They also have FREE WiFi in the entire building. They have FREE COVERED PARKING and the shuttle to Mammoth picks you up on the front steps.

Save you're money. Find another place. The staff is very rude and you can't get a good night sleep. If I could I would give them a 0.

I came in here around 11am, however, their restaurant doesn't open until noon. There is a really nice lounge area where there are two fireplaces, jazz playing and a really cozy space to just relax. I just came here both days resting between XC sessions, ate some lunch I brought, had some water and just chilled out. Id definitely love to return and have a cocktail here and hang out here with a special someone, flirting the night away, plotting some clandestine tryst (maybe a beautiful hike into the mountains behind - looking at stars, listening for wild animals) and deeply enjoying life, big grins, and making each day count. Id also consider staying here on my next return, the surrounding area is just gorgeous!

It was our first time staying as we used to stay in the village but we have our Molly now so we wanted a dog friendly place. The "bad" reviews had me a little worried but from the moment we arrived through the morning we had to head home it was amazing! Everything! Ross, Dave, Aldo, Mike and I know I'm missing some but they were all the best! Great personalities and so helpful and personable! We had one day with no power as the electric company was working on something above and Ross called to let us know the day before. We were fine and just kept the refrigerator closed all went sightseeing down 395 all day but they offered to charge any devices in the lodge if need be etc. The continental breakfast was perfect and delicious. Great choices. We had a kitchen in our room as we do like to cook so we did not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner this time but we enjoyed a cocktail. We loved the cabin itself from the fireplace, the bedrooms and two different bathrooms and the kitchen had everything we needed to the lakes so close for Molly. My daughter's paddle board was perfect there. There were short hikes, longer hikes or just a walk on the path to walk along also close to our cabin. We've already booked our week for next summer and are looking very forward to it! Thanks for a wonderful vacation Tamarack Lodge!! The LaCasa family!!

Coffee makers in the rooms are terrible and leak everywhere. Luckily they have coffee near the front desk. 3 stars Food: Due to staffing shortages they sometimes have to cancel the continental breakfast. be sure to bring your own or be ready to go out to eat. Comfort There is no central heating with thermostat so you have to use the wall unit. I would recommend turning that on immediately upon arriving in the room because it takes a while to heat up. 3 stars. They do have a Jacuzzi on the bottom floor and it is quite large. There's a noisy fan blowing so consider bringing some noise canceling headphones if you're going to go into that water. Swimwear might be sensible as well other than that I had a smooth check-in and they got all my particulars exactly right. 5 stars. comfort: bring earplugs because the doors in the hallways are heavy and loud. they're constantly slamming every time somebody comes and goes. The bathrooms are standing showers (no tubs). I always wish there was a handheld wand/hose instead of the spigot that just rains on you. Maybe consider bringing one of those handhelds too?

It makes too much noise, and it can wake people up in the middle of the night even someone uses the bathroom. There is warm breakfast available in the early morning. It was simple and nice. The location is excellent -- less than a 5-minute walk to the gondola. They also offer ski valet right in the lobby, which makes the walk even shorter. Huge plus: boot dryers. Check-in was super easy, and we upgraded our room to one of their "condos." Just to set expectations: this isn't a full condo. It's essentially a hotel room with a small living area and a Murphy bed. Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury. The beds are comfortable, towels are clean, and that's honestly all we need. Plus, it's close to The Yodler, our favorite restaurant. The rooms are noisy with paper-thin walls--you can hear guests walking, talking, and moving around all night long, making it nearly impossible to sleep. It honestly felt like people were walking inside my room. The room itself is poorly maintained and outdated, with dirty, stained carpets and a bathroom that was not clean. Nothing felt refreshed or well cared for, which is unacceptable at this price point. Breakfast was equally terrible. The food was cold, the omelet was tough and rubbery, and overall the quality was far below expectations--borderline inedible. Between the noise, lack of cleanliness, outdated rooms, and overpriced rates, this place is absolutely not worth the money. I would not stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable or restful stay.
