As my family continues to build out our Tropical Garden, we happen to hit up a lot of Nurseries. Always looking for hard to find plants specifically Plumeria varieties - one nursery in particular has been on our radar for a couple of months now. Jungle Jack's!! The name alone makes you wanna go. The only difficulty was their hours, as most days they close at 2pm. Luckily we had the perfect opportunity with it being the Valentine Day weekend, I wanted to get my wife something special and we took the whole family up to Jungle Jack's. While it was a little out of the way the drive was certainly worth it, nice to see all parts of San Diego. When we arrived we found some parking and started to walk around. The nursery itself is massive - tons of space with a huge assortment of plants along with a metric ton of Plumeria. My personal favorite aspects were the theme - they didn't shy away from the Jungle aspect of the name. Ended up sitting in some pretty cool Elephant chairs where I met the adorable dog aka: Cowboy. We found everything we were looking for and the staff were not only knowledgable but super friendly. Was such a treat to go out there - our family felt very welcomed. We certainly made some big purchases that day - it felt like it was well worth the investment. Not only with the quality of the plants, but wanting to support the store. I've been collecting Plumerias for 20+ years now and recently became more of a collector and serious buyer so I like the rare ones. These guys had everything I was looking for. I've now gone there three times in the last two months but I think I spoke to the owner the last time he was loading up a truck for Texas one of the nicest guys I've ever met super helpful and super knowledgeable. We visited in July of 2023 when they had their open house. So many wonderful, great looking plants ranging in price from $12.00 ( 4" pot size and not so rare to $95+ for larger more select plants) . Sales area was well set up with many blooming plants available. Everything was well set up, labeled and check out mid day on the first day of the sale was easy and fast. I did not know until later they specialize in miniature growth plants. Many of their selections will make great potted specimens! read more

Christina and John run a fabulous nursery that reminds me of Jurassic Park meets plumeria farm. I called asking about a plant and Christina let me know they didn't have any there but would be able to go get them from their grower for me. Irma had everything ready for pick up when it was convenient for me a few days later. They communicate great through text with pictures so I knew exactly what I was getting. Came here the my first open house visit, we got there about 9:15, considering they open at 9:00 for this special event, parking was full, you had the park on the highway, not too much of a big deal. There was a ton of people there for this event, aside from the size of the pots/containers, nothing was really organized, really difficult to find anything that you wanted. Some plumerias were listed as out of stock, but was there for sale. All in all it was a good event. I got some Plumerias that I didn't think I would find anywhere else. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for something specific. read more

I went to the open house today and purchased 4 beautiful Plumerias, all are unusual colors that I did not previously have. The staff were friendly and informative. The owners were there also assisting at checkout and were friendly with helpful hints. 5 star experience and so fun to see such an abundance of types. My helpful hint is to look at their website ahead of time and make a list of what you think you want so as to not be overwhelmed with so many options once there! read more

Wow, I was not prepared for this nursery visit!! Easy directions and Vista is such a neat area anyway. These rolling hills and winding roads are full of small family owned/run nurseries. Jack's is absolutely an amazing selection of plant material of all colors, variety and sizes. I had asked for a specific variety in 5 gallon. It was waiting for me when I arrived but the greenhouses full of plumeria were another reason to explore and consider more purchases. Helpful, knowledgeable, polite, great value! Do be patient, they don't have a ton of staff and sometimes there may only be one or two people working and splitting their time maintaining the nursery and helping customers. Get your plumeria from the experts when they are in peak condition, not the big box stores after they've been kicking around in a warehouse for months. Jungle Jack's has some very beautiful and rare varieties as well. You won't regret your decision. read more

I enjoyed the open house immensely, which was efficiently and hospitably run! Taking the shuttle, which had plenty of parking and came frequently ensured that you got to take home a free cutting (which was slightly soft, but hey it's free and you can nurse it back to life!) my parents and I arrived at 730 (opening was at 9) and we were greeted by donuts, coffee, bagles, orange juice, and beautiful hanging orchids and palms. upon opening, it was clear that they had prepped for this! plants were organized by size and alphabetized-- and nearly 75% of these plants had blooms or buds (and oh so many!!!) so you can enjoy the flowers immediately! if you couldn't find something, they had several young high schoolers working as 'runners' who would scour the entire nursery looking for that particular plant for you. while my dad watched the plants we liked, I realized later this wasn't necessary, as they had several holding areas where you could label your plants to save and pick up for when you're done browsing. checkout was a breeze, with several stations open-- might be easier to implement a "sushi chart" system as you pick out your plants if you're buying several though, as our people got confused and Mischarged me. all in all, great experience and event that I'd recommend to any other enthusiast or newbie like myself! after paying, all plants are wrapped up for you to take home! read more

PART I. OH MY GOODNESS. Jungle Jack's is a plumeria paradise!!! I have been stalking Jungle Jack's website for awhile, and have bought some JJ plumeria at nearby stores. But I wanted to check out the fancier varieties and colors at their Vista location. I had heard good things about their annual Open House event so I decided to check it out last weekend. While it was sort of a mission to get to (2+ hour drive from LA), I will say it's well worth it. There are so many plumeria and so many different colors and types that I was just overwhelmed. They are a little on the pricey side but they are high quality plants. If money weren't an issue, I'd probably get almost every kind!!!!!!!! (There are still 20ish on my wish list lol). There are plants EVERYWHERE. The greenhouses are carpeted in plumeria plants, I'd say there are THOUSANDS!!! The staff was very sweet, friendly, informative and willing to go the extra mile to help you find what you're looking for. They made the experience better and so easy! I wish they had little wagons to put your plants in (next time I'll bring my own) because otherwise we had to tag the ones we picked and put them at the holding area. I guess I can always go on a regular day next time. PART II. About a month after the annual Open House, I busted a mission down here again. I HAD THE PLACE ALL TO MYSELF!!! It was a welcome change from the hustle and bustle and overwhelming feeling of Open House. There were considerably less plants but I couldn't leave empty handed! Got 2 more to add to the collection. PART III. Apparently JJ had a sale at the Plant Stand (now renamed? I'm confused) in Costa Mesa and I came down on the second day..... ONLY TO STRIKE GOLD!!!! I was in love with Royal Silk on the website and it was sold out for the year, but after picking through the 1gal containers, I basically won the lotto.... there she was, Royal Silk, calling out my name. OF COURSE I got it, and like 5 others (Phuket, Sahara, CS3, Zona Rosa, etc) because I can't resist. Fast and easy check out and the kind JJ employees helped load the plants into my boxes and then in my car. Super sweet:-) HIGHLY RECOMMEND JUNGLE JACK'S!!! read more

Drove up from Chula Vista and missed the morning traffic. When we arrived we walked thru the rolls of plumeria not seeing anyone. Decided to head back to the office. Seeing the note on the window called the #. Didn't catch her name but she helped us find the ones we wanted. And suggested ones with a scent, leggy or tree shape. Very knowledgeable on the plants. We were lucky and she found us California Sunset and Desert Sunset. Most likely we'll go earlier in the season next year. Some beautiful palms but we were there for the plumeria. So many to choose from. It's like being in a candy store except it's not fattening. read more

About 3-4 days ago JJ was offering Purple Jack cuttings for 60 euros to customers in Europe from his IG account. I wrote a review / comment in that post cause I believe that price was so expensive since Max Best Plants in Messina (Italy) sells adult plants of this variety at a price of between 49 and 64 euros. Max Best Plants is a JJ reseller in Europe and offers rooted plumerias (adult plants) with a better and competitive price than JJ. Does a Purple Jack JJ cutting really have to cost 60 euros? The most pathetic thing is that JJ's community manager deleted my comment and they blocked me from IG... WOW, such a professional man behind your IG account. I am a customer who has bought JJ Mystique, JJ Obsession, JJ Gina and JJ Whirlwind and this is how they treat me just for leaving my opinion about that abussive price for a single tip cutting when a reseller of them sells three stems plants at a more competitive price. I will never recommend JJ plumerias anymore. You'll must learn how to give a better treatment to customers. read more

The two guys working here acted like we were being a bother to them. We still collected four plants totaling about 300.00 then just got so sick of the lack of caring or attention we put everything back and walked out. We came all the way from Riverside what a waste. Awful experience with these guys. I went to their nursery with my landscaper to pick out plants and trees. We arrived and waited 15 minutes before anyone would even talk to us. Finally Anthony quoted us some prices and gave us about 3 feet in yellow tape to mark the trees we wanted (more on that in a minute). Since he gave us so little, I had to use small pieces to mark the trees we wanted. We marked about 20 trees. After we got back down to the office to wait some more (another 30 minutes), Anthony finally came over and then increased the prices that he had quoted us. He said "I misquoted them." He then increased the prices on the trees by $10 each. In my opinion he should have honored the prices he quoted. Then he told us delivery would be $150, which was on the high end. He had mentioned $100 at the beginning. Then he quoted a price on a palm we liked. He quoted $65, which seemed to be high for the small size. I went up with another guy (who I think was the owner) and he then said "that one is large and should be transferred out of a 15 gallon." He then increased the price to $95. I said no thanks and went to pay. They said that they would deliver the following Monday. So today, Monday, Anthony shows up in a rented uhaul truck. I make small talk and ask "Did you find all of the trees ok?" Anthony rudely says "You used small enough pieces of tape!" Really? That's what you gave me guy. Wow! Anthony opened the truck and the palms and plants laying on top of each other and not secured in any way. Some were standing up, and others laying down, like they had fallen into the standing trees. Two of the pygmy date palms were totally ruined. They were broken at the base of the tree, the point where the palm trunk meets the soil, and literally falling over (I have pics if you would like to see them). I told Anthony that I either would like a refund or replacement plants. He said "I will have to call the owner." He then spoke with the owner, John, on the phone. I heard Anthony say "Do you want to talk to him or do you want me to tell him?" From the conversation and tone I could tell they did not want to take care of the problem. I said "I will talk to him." John told me "You picked out the trees, so we delivered them." I told John that the trees were standing up fine when I picked them out, but they are laying down now. John told me to "just put them in the ground 8 inches up the trunk." I told him that my landscaper said that if you bury the trunk like that it will rot and die. (I also knew that you cannot do this). John said "Who knows more about palm trees... Me or your landscaper?" I replied that it seems like my landscaper does. LOL. John had an incentive to be dishonest. My landscaper did not. We argued for a good 10 minutes. I told John that this is a really bad way to treat customers, especially one that just spent $1000 at your business. I told him that if he does not offer a refund or replace the damaged trees (which were a grand total of $80) I will have to dispute the charge with my credit card company and leave negative feedback online. He said "Are you threatening me?" I told him that it was not a threat, but the only remedy I have if he will not do the right thing. Finally because of my "threat" he reluctantly agreed to do an exchange for two different trees, but he said that he would not deliver them. Well, sorry that was part of our deal (and $150 I paid). I really did not think it was fair, but I was about to accept that compromise, until he started lecturing me and telling me all of the things I did wrong. I finally said forget it. I will take care of it through a credit card dispute. John then ordered Anthony to take ALL of the trees back (after they were already paid for, delivered to my house, and unloaded). I told Anthony that it was not going to happen. Anthony then said to John "How far do you want to escalate this?" Finally Anthony took the two broken trees back into the truck. He then asked me to sign the delivery confirmation, which I did, including a note that 2 trees were returned. I then asked for my copy. Anthony said that I don't get a copy. I said "then why is there a carbon copy underneath the original I just signed?" He said that those were their copies. WTF?!? They get 2 copies, and I get none?!? I have not received a credit yet. I will wait a few days. I told John at one point that I actually don't believe that I am really talking to the owner. How could he not take care of his customers, especially over $80 on a $1000 order? He was very rude an condescending. My landscaper and I will not do business with these guys again. From beginning to end these guys were bush league (no pun intended). They ignore you from the minute you come in, bait and switch on prices, and treat you like crap. There are so many nurseries out there. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with these guys. read more

The selection is incredible, so it is well worth a visit. That said, it is not well organized and at least during our visit, getting help from anyone is a hell of a challenge. As others have said, the prices are very high as well. I'm very happy we made the drive and it was wonderful to see so many varieties in the same place, but I can't say I'll be back. Given the long drive, they certainly could have made a much larger sale if someone had been willing to help us find what we were looking for. read more

Jungle Jacks has a great variety, and now at Lowes and Home Depot, but do not expect even a 50% survival rate. To date, every one I have purchased has died. And they were not cheap. In their rush to market, the plants have one root in extremely light soil. I just planted two replacements from Lowes, and found exactly the same thing, saving the receipt. The soils disintegrate when removed from the pot, exposing one root 3-4 inches long. NOT GOOD. Last year I bought three, two died within weeks, the other, a few months later. I am no amateur at this, my yard is a jungle, and I have many plumerias, I take and grow cuttings, etc. and know the folks at the Plumeria Society well. They told me they would send replacements and did not, so horrible customer service. Getting a refund through my credit card. If you buy, then plant pot and all in a larger pot with heavier soil, for at least one year, then try planting carefully. They should sell cuttings instead but suggest they want the mass markets of Lowes and HD rather than caring about customers. read more

We were there today for the annual sale and the staff was excellent and it was well organized. There were so many varieties to choose from the hardest part was picking which ones to buy. So many rare and unusual varieties that are not inexpensive but very difficult to find. There are plants for everyone's budget. We met a couple who flew in from Dallas for the sale and to make a mini vacation out of it. read more

They had the best burgers I've ever had I thought it was one of the best quality beef I've personally ever had. I truly appreciated the great quality and customer service they offered. Also, their french fries were to die for. Perfect delivery ordered multiple burgers from them with reliable delivery every time. I never had a problem. I would personally always order them for the following years. Couldn't live without it, thanks, guys. I loved the Smoke'sSpecial I would highly suggest trying it if it's your first time going in. Went to their recent 3-day plumeria sale at The Plant Stand (Costa Mesa, CA) last Sunday (8/30) & was not disappointed. John helped me find specific varieties I emailed to him a week prior to the sale. I ended up purchasing 13 (!) from 1gal to 10 gal ones: Laurien (1 gal & 10-gal with blooms), Inca Gold, Divine, Valkyrie, Buster (with blooms), Scentsational, Tipsy, Temptation, Mystique, Penang Peach, Artistry, Firestorm. All are looking healthy & hoping they all stay that way! I will be at their Open House next year for sure at their actual nursery in Vista, CA. read more

Today we visited Jungle Jacks to pick up our palm trees we had already paid for and to purchase some additional plants. When we arrived our trees were not yet pulled and ready for pick up as promised even though the order was placed and paid for 3 days prior. I did, yes forget my receipt (I have a 2 year old I was trying to get out of the house), I asked the owner's wife to review the book with their receipts but she challenged me still. Once she found my receipt she wasn't in the least apologetic and never apologized that my order was never pulled. I lost time and money because I had contractors at my home waiting for my plants to arrive to finish the project. I also purchased plumerias and they were unable to locate 3 of the same plants and waited as they attempted to locate the plants for at least 30 minutes. This was not worth the frustration and is a poor customer experience. Many of our friends are also redoing their landscaping and I will be sure to tell them never to patronize this business. read more

Having recently moved from Hawaii to the Inland Empire I was craving plummies. A fellow gardener told me that Lowes had some. Beat feet to Lowes. Found JJ's Divine. A prolific bloomer and a great plant. Now I will have to find JJ's in the Inland Empire again! I NEED more of their miniature plumeria.
