This is a great little getaway in the hill country. The cabins are blessed with a distinct lack of pseudo-victoriana, novelty items, and clutter. Instead they are comfy, funky, and have awesome views. The warm baked goods in the morning are awesome, as is the fresh milk and juice. As we were staying in fall, the lovely pool was ice-cold. But the views around the property are awesome, and we had a great many pretty birds flitting around our bedroom window. Easy access to Johnson City, Wimberly, and other Hill Country destinations, plus reasonable prices makes this place a sure bet for future weekends. read more

I am still a bit skeptical that my friend's SUV just happened to die just down the street from a farm that has dog friendly cabins that my "friend" just happens to know the owners of?? But, I fully enjoyed my unexpected stay here so I am letting it slide. We stayed in the Casa Verde Cabin that included a fenced in yard for my dogs = sweet! For the humans it was even better: beautiful hand painted sinks and mirrors, luxury linens, super comfy mattress, awesome indoor/outdoor shower, breakfast treats delivered at our door before 9AM! Our cabin had a nice sitting area with Direct TV and a small kitchenette w/ a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and a beautiful patio to enjoy a warm cup of coffee on. I left with a bottle of Paws Pup Wash an all natural Flea, Tick and Mosquito repellent wash with 100% of the profits going straight to PAWS shelter and the Humane Society! This is my kind of place!! They also have a BEAUTIFUL POOL and offer Cooking and Yoga classes that I would LURVE to return for! If your vehicle happens to break down in Dripping Springs on a Saturday night - I highly recommend this place to wait out your needed vehicle parts! read more

Situated on a lovely piece of land in the Texas Hill Country, Juniper Hills Farm offers a peaceful respite for city dwellers. We stayed 3-nights and also took one of the cooking classes at Onion Creek Kitchens. My favorite things were the pool and the free yoga class. The cabins are cute, nicely decorated, but there are no closets or drawers for guest storage. I like to put my things away and not live out of an open suitcase all weekend. My feng shui was ruined! The biggest problem with our casita (verde) were the clomping guests staying above in casita roja. Trust me when I say we could hear everything going on up there. I definitely think casita tierra is the best lodging choice. It's a free-standing unit and affords the best (and most private) location/view. Lastly, in the interest of full-disclosure, there was some unpleasantness with the owner because we brought our 12 pound (non-shedding) miniature poodle without getting approval from her first. I thought I read "pets are welcome" on the website, but she assured me I was wrong. As it turns out, pets ARE welcome, just be SURE you inform the owner if you're bringing your dog along. (A week after returning home a charge for $79.50 appeared on my debit card. I can only assume this is the pet charge because the owner did not send an explanation or bill. Oh well, water under the bridge.) All-in-all, a very nice property. I'm sure it would have been a much better experience minus my dog mistake. read more

This place is awesome. Don't go here. We were here Sunday to Tuesday in mid/late August and of the 5 units for rent, there was only one other unit occupied at any given time. We'd like to keep it that uncrowded for our next excursion. It's not a bed and breakfast but they give you fruit, granola, milk, juice, coffee, etc. Plus a fresh baked "treat" on your front stoop by 8:30 or 9 every morning. There's a sauna, bocce ball court, pool, super nice outdoor kitchen/grill/bar area, pool, etc. The pictures of the grounds and the "cabins" or "casitas" (as they call them) on the web site really just don't do the place justice. It rained about 80% of the time that we were there but between the entertainment and nice sitting areas on the grounds, as well as a few excursions out-- nice dinner in Blanco, bonsai exhibit in Wimberley, best winery in the Hill Country in Driftwood-- we had a really nice and relaxing time on our "staycation." EDIT: It occurred to me that I should justify just the 4 stars, other than not wanting you to go to this place :P 1) Their web site is a little hard to navigate. They have strange side navigation which is the same on some pages and different on others. 2) The web site and printed info about area businesses was out of date. We flipped out for a few minutes thinking that the place in Blanco where we'd intended to go for dinner wasn't open. Catastrophe was avoided after finding a cell signal and checking with the restaurant, but it was momentarily stress inducing. 3) No one told us how to check out. We kinda had to make our best guess and leave a phone message explaining what we did. read more

This place is amazing. We stayed in Casita Verde and everywhere you turn there is something sublimely beautiful to see and discover. These folks have thought of everything. They deliver homemade baked goods each morning, and the cabin is stocked with homemade granola, farm milk, and delicious orange juice. Saturday evening we built a fire in the fire pit and made smores (they actually sell smores kits - how cool is that?!). Steeped in history, the farm has a small herd of donkeys, two beautiful rescue Greyhounds, and a handsome tabby named Jordan. The neighboring farms have goats and turkeys. The views at sunrise and sunset are stunning and there are plenty of outdoor spots in which to commune with nature and enjoy delicious coffee. You might even find an Indian arrowhead on this historic ground. Sunday we alternated between laying out by the pool, lounging in the hammock, and baking in the Sauna. We could have played bocce ball, but we were too lazy. A few days here will definitely leave you feeling refreshed and renewed! read more

This might be my favorite place on earth. My first visit was a couple of years ago & we came down with another couple and had the whole property to ourselves. We enjoyed it so much we decided to book all 4 of the casitas with friends & throw an event in the kitchen & barn. Everything turned out so perfect, even better than I could've ever imagined. The freshly baked goods dropped off in the morning at the door in the cutest tin boxes are the perfect way to start the day. There are so many little details in everything, inside & out, that I just love. Having the fire pit & bocce ball area so close to the cabins is super convenient & gives you something to do day or night. You have the option to book a massage, attend a yoga or cooking class or even order in-room tapas or a picnic basket for your day! The pool pavilion is fantastic. The infinity pool is beautiful & has a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen available for guests to use on their own. There's also a fireplace in the pool pavilion, which can be nice whether it's hot or cold out! This is my favorite place to come & enjoy the finer & simpler things in life. Love. Love. Sustainable Food Center has been taking our staff or board out to Juniper Hills Farm for 4 years in a row, and it's simply incredible! The facility is perfect for our retreat because we can do our trainings in the gorgeous kitchen space in addition to taking a fun, interactive cooking class and eating the incredible food we prepare. Sibby, Molly and Rebecca treat us with such care - we always leave this place feeling completely pampered and in tune with nature. Every detail of Onion Creek Kitchen, the overnight cabins, the pool and the grounds is truly amazing. It's clear that so much love and care went into developing this magical space. We plan to go there every year for our annual retreat! I can't recommend it highly enough! read more

This place is incredible! SIbby thinks of everything. I think the price is right and you get much more value than a hotel. The farm is lovely, it's nice to drive up and see deer, mules, chickens, goats... and the fresh baked goods in the morning are lovely - and in such cute tin lunch boxes! The place is quiet, clean and relaxing. The pool is gorgeous! It feels like vacationing someplace much more exotic than Texas... OH! and awesome koi pond right outside cabin. We were here on a Monday night for a girls getaway/cooking class. Only 45 minutes from Austin, sweet! Sibby & her staff were delightful as our chef instructors. We came away with a delicious meal & instructions! The property is so pleasant and tastefully decorated. Our king casita had robes, nice linens and a Crate & Barrel tempurpedic sleeper sofa which I enjoyed. I thought it was a good value for everything included. read more

Great little getaway. Unfortunately we were there during a weekend when no cooking classes were offered but that didn't prevent us from having a wonderful time. Casita Verde was well stocked and spacious. Loved the indoor/outdoor shower. And can we talk about the homemade granola? Superbly delicious. And the lunchbox on the doorstep each morning with warmed baked goods made my tummy smile. Grounds are well maintained and we loved making friends with the donkeys on the property. I really like this place! We stayed here for a few nights with 2 of our dogs in the Casita Verde, and had such a great time! Like Kim L said, don't stay here! We like having it not crowded and peaceful! Joking aside, this is the kind of place you come to for peace and quiet- to lounge around, share a bottle (or a few bottles) of a good wine, and relax. Not for people who are loud, rude, disrespectful of others privacy, nor is it for hosting drinking parties. Keep this place beautiful! First of all, I love my privacy. The first night we were here, we had the entire place to ourselves. The following nights, the people kept to themselves and didn't bother us when walking the dogs or working on their training which is really nice considering when we're out to give them a quick walk before leaving for awhile, we don't want to be bothered with the usual "Oh, he's so cute! What is he? Can I pet him?" The sole point of our stay was to escape from people in general. I think it's safe to assume that it is also the intention of other guests since we're driving more than an hour into the countryside. Even though this place is not a bed and breakfast, in the mornings you're left with a vintage lunch box outside of your door that holds freshly baked pastries from their kitchen; they're absolutely delicious! In our room, we had a collection of books to read, fresh granola to snack on, and other products offered by the farm at no charge. My favorite part of my room- the outdoor shower! It's so refreshing! During the winter, the water to the outdoor shower is turned off to protect the pipes. The fenced in common space is a really nice touch. It's extremely large and provides many small seating areas. In this space, there is a bocce ball court, a fire pit, a hammock, lots of little sitting areas, several water features, and several zones of landscaping. Parts of it are shaded by trees. The sauna is located inside the same building that the 2 studio rentals are in. When you walk in, turn right, and the door of where a closet would be, is where the sauna is located. The infinity pool is a nice touch to the property- located next to the main house and where the cooking school is, if I'm not mistaken. The enclosed space overlooks the hill country, and provides a really nice setup for barbecues with picnic tables, an outdoor grilling station and a bar station. In this area, you can see the owners two lovely greyhounds in their backyard from time to time. A short walk down the hill, on the way towards the entrance, you'll find their donkeys. All friendly, and curious about our dogs. I don't suggest anyone just reach their hand in their to pet them, but I did grow up around equine. The property runs off of rain water, and they provide multiple places to put your recycled items. Dog Owners: *The only thing that I can advise is if you have a working dog (a breed of dog that's active), I would not suggest (I don't advise ever doing this- even in your own home to begin with) leaving you dog unattended in the fenced in area. It's a 4' wire linked fence- and our German Shepherds and Great Pyrenees would have no problem scaling it. It does come in handy, though, if you want to leave your small breed there to play with you, or if you want to walk around on the property without them. Our dogs are crate trained anyways, so we brought them along and I believe it's their policy that unattended dogs must be in a crate. *A "poop scoop" is provided on the property in case you forgot to bring bags- so please dispose of your dogs waste properly. *The extremely large, fenced in area in the common space is great for the dogs, but unless your dog has a good recall and will stay near you off-leash, I would suggest keeping the dog on a leash at all times. Not everyone likes dogs, and it's only respectful to the other patrons. All in all, I can't wait to stay here again! We didn't run across a single problem, and love the seclusion that's so hard to come by! read more
