Created a Yelp account just to write this review. Let me preface with, I'm a Marketing Events Manager for a living. I was getting married the weekend we planned a drinks reception at Juniper, we were spending thousands of dollars at the bar, when the owner told me we had to leave because we were taking up too much space. If you know anything about restaurants you know they make their income on alcohol, not food. I asked if my group could take up some tables to help space things out before the drinks reception even began and he was unwilling. I had also called months in advance to arrange this, I also had to call on three occasions before finally speaking to the owner to which he replied "Just come and we will accommodate you". Which clearly he did not do. He is an impossible man and should not be involved in any type of customer service industry. I have planned over 300 international dinner events, which have had their fair share of mishaps and mis-communications, but this one takes the wedding cake. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience for a larger group, given the restraints of the area, I suggest contacting Taste 5 catering who has exceptional food and is local to the area. read more

Wonderful meal and service! We happened to be there the weekend after the ski season closed and had the best time! Juniper was even offering 50% off entrees - incredible! Started off with a Colombian Old Fashioned, stiff and enjoyable. Appetizers were beef short rib (oh yummm) and the crab cake. Husband said it may have been the best crab cake he has had in a long time! For dinner we both ordered the filet and veal cheek duo, asparagus, and a bottle of '13 Silver Oak Cab (our fav.). Our steaks were cooked perfectly, asparagus vanished, and the wine was reliably delicious. For desert we got the sticky toffee pudding. It was fantastic!!!! The only small critique we had was that the table next to us placed their meal order when we got our appetizers. We were eating our dessert BEFORE their entrees had come out. It was a little awkward because our tables were super close together. However, the waitress was gracious and apologetic to them. Not worth subtracting a star since it wasn't my experience. Plus, they seemed thrilled with the food once it did arrive. (P.S. Her pork chop was HUGE and looked so good I wrote it down to order next time!) read more

The food is to die for. We had the tuna poké - very light and loved all the different flavors on the plate. I had their signature dish, veal scaloppini. The flavor of the broth was rich and perfectly complimented the chopped asparagus, capers, and angel hair. The ribeye steak was better than any we ever had in Chicago. All the portions were ample and the prices are reasonable. We will be back! read more

Waited 30 minutes with having a reservation. Watched many groups seated before us without reservations. We were only two, but clearly if we were four or more we would have been seated right away. Food was just okay, not worthy of five stars certainly. Truffle fries not very truffly and a bit soggy, tuna poke didn't seem fresh and desert they recommended, Charles' Sticky Bread or something like that, was so sweet it was inedible. They talked me out of getting the chocolate flourless option. Still bothered I didn't go with that. The only plus was my date. Won't be back. read more

OK I went back two nights in a row during my recent visit as Friday offered half-price entrees! I had my eye on that $48 rib-eye from the previous night and after a vigorous hike up to Beaver Lake during the day I was entitled . And Friday this place was BUSY! So much for the "off season" or "in between season", everyone in town knew that enjoying what Juniper offers at half price will make anyone happy. Just don't show up at peak hour, wait a little later, they won't run out of food. I waited patiently and was able to wiggle in to a seat at the bar. Pat? took great care of me there, A Bryant Family cab and I was on my way. The couple next to me educated me that rather than try the scallop appetizer I could enjoy the Halibut ENTREE at the same price! (half off remember) So I ordered the halibut as my first course followed by the rib-eye. Man both were great. The couple next to me after observing my effort asked, "are you one of those competitive eaters?" Now that is funny. I'll go to Juniper anytime I'm in the valley. read more

Definitely get the veal! It is a go-to dish. The food is really rich in flavor. I gave it a 4 star because some dishes where a little heavy on the salt for my taste. The toffee cake for dessert was worth every bite! read more

Hands down the best dining experience and consistently great food in the Vail/Beaver Creek area. Five star menu, ambiance, friendly and professional service. This restaurant is always full of return guests, which says everything. Care is given to the seasonal menu and the wine selection is top notch. Wow really disappointing dinner at Juniper. One of our favorites in Edwards with always great food. Party of 8 and a very expensive dinner where the unctions waiter informed us that when asked to split a salad with two of our party there would be a $3 up charge....very odd. read more

We've been coming for years... food is always great. Service is almost always garbage. This is our families final straw... Our most recent experience... we tried to order dessert and were told we had to leave because of the next table waiting for ours, and our check was handed to us. We had zero notice and were shocked and saddened. There was an open six top right next to us, but they chose to kick us out instead of using it. On our way out, upset, we saw nobody waiting. I asked the manager what the cause was and he stared with a straight face and told me they were coming in a bit for that table. Not only that, but we ate very quickly this time without even trying because we were so hungry and we sat waiting for service for most of the meal! At their prices, we expect better. Compliments to the chef, but their service and manager are a total mess. What a poor way to end our semi annual ski trip. read more

The location in Greenville SC is sexist. They allow women to wear open toe footwear, but not men during the summer. So be sure to obeyed by their sexiest rules or they will not allow your male partner in. It does mention this on their website that men specifically are not allowed to wear open toed shoes. I for one appreciate policy just not sexism which it seems they are very adamant about enforcing. The good news is, there are plenty of roof top bars in Greenville that allow both men and women to wear open toed shoes. My question to Juniper is, "Why are women permitted to wear open toed shoes, why are men not permitted to wear open toed shoes?" read more

Juniper is one of the best choices in the Valley for a high quality and memorable meal. There are a lot of choices - the high-rent restaurants in the Village constantly remind you of that - but if you have transportation to get to Edwards (about 15 minutes from Vail) Juniper should be on your short list. First, the location. Juniper is located right on the Eagle River. You can sit indoors, which is elegant, or you can sit on the covered and heated patio overlooking the river. The patio can be enclosed if the wind picks up or it starts to rain (a refreshing mountain shower is not uncommon). Either setup works well, and you feel like you are art of the restaurant and vibe no matter where you sit. The food is excellent. The staff is very good about steering you in the right direction from a food and wine perspective. The wine list is extensive and can accommodate most any budget (there are some big dollar bottles, but plenty of more affordable choices). From a food perspective the trout is excellent, the filet and rib duo is a winner, and the tuna preparation is delicious. Leave room for dessert - many good choices, but the hot sticky toffee pudding is incredible. Reminds me of a similar dessert at the now-closed Kelly Liken in Vail. Make sure to make a reservation at Juniper - you will need it! read more

NEVER again. Respect to the staff for dealing with a manger that is in a word--inept. The complete lack of respect and hospitality was astonishing. Management should set a certain standard for any establishment--and regrettably--the leadership here is some of the worst I've witnessed in any restaurant--EVER. Some advice to Juniper from a patron of restaurants, ranging from fine dining to fast casual, class costs you nothing. Invest in it--and I promise that it will benefit you. read more

The service was atrocious. Everything about being there was uncomfortable. The staff rushing us, the manager's complete disrespect towards us, the cramped dining room, etc. While the food was executed well--it was uninspired. That being said--it was the saving grace. We arrived--ate appetizers and drank wine--paid almost $600 and left before ordering our entrées because we were forced through every single item served. I've never had a worse experience at a restaurant. Take home point--the manager of this restaurant is a complete waste of space, the antithesis of class, the reason we left, and the reason you should not go to Juniper. Awesome service for our group of 11 and food to match. Many of us enjoyed the Tomato Soup with crouton and Fried Basil - super hot and A-Mazing! The snapper with polenta and fried green tomatoes was awesome, as was the shared tastes of the Buffalo. Everyone loved what had and the selections of wines were wonderful as well. We were interested in ordering the toffee pudding, but we were all stuffed and just couldn't do it. I'd definitely return! read more

What a disappointment! I dined here a few months ago and felt so disturbed by my experience that I created a Yelp! account just to inform others. The meal started out alright. The appetizers were not bad and the service was average. The entrées were universally disappointing and when a member of our party had a problem with their dish, the owner baffled us all by not only taking no responsibility for the mistake, but also by blaming us. As a frequent reader of Yelp!, I felt it my duty to write this review as to adequately adjust Juniper's rating. A restaurant as mediocre as this does not deserve to be thrown in with the likes of Splendido and other restaurants of such quality. I've been several times over 3 years - it's never disappointed! The atmosphere is lovely - small, intimate, cozy in the winter but light and airy in the summer. The food!!! Always delicious. Me and my husband were planning on spending our anniversary dinner here. This was our first time on vacation in vail so we asked around to see a nice anniversary dinner spot to go to and everyone was claiming this place to be amazing. So we took their word for it and got reservations... but when we showed up the waitress and host said MULTIPLE times that there are no deals or specials for the day and they'd leave and giggle in the corner. Basically claiming that we didn't have enough money for the regular priced dish... so the disrespect turned me and my husband off and we left and went somewhere else much better... never gonna go there again read more

Will never dine at Junipers again! Had be going here for years, enjoying the food and drink. Recently brought some out of town guest to dinner there and we treated like 2nd rate citizens by the condescending owner/manager. From the onset of checking in at the host stand to the rude way we were treated after our complaint. We had received our meals and mid bite, when the waitress swooped in and grabbed my plate and one of my guests right from us, mumbled something about we needed more food on it since we ordered it as a meal and not an appetizer. Plates came back a few mins. later, not knowing who's plate was who's they were set back in front of us, my other guest proceeded to find a hair in her salmon that was so over cooked, she couldn't ear it. When we were leaving and questioned the owner/manager about the way this situation was handled, he wouldn't even look at us or address the situation, we were just told to leave. Horrible customer service, subpar food, condescending owner/manager, does not care about the customer at all!. Lots of great places to eat in the valley, don't spend you money here. Very disappointing - overpriced food, haughty and arrogant staff. We booked a table on the back patio overlooking the river. First, we were taken to the front patio on the street -no. Then, we were shown to the breezeway inside- no. I repeatedly told them our reservation asked for a table overlooking the river and there were several that were open. We left with a very bad taste in our mouths - literally and figuratively. There are plenty of good restaurants in Edwards to choose from. Choose somewhere other than Juniper unless they get a staff overhaul. read more

Worst experience my wife and I have ever had at a restaurant, and we have eaten at restaurants from cheap to great around the world. Menu: Looks great - we wanted to try everything. Food: Taste was good. Two observations: 1) "Prosciutto" on the pear salad is bacon bits, and 2) the prime rib (I understand what a marbled prime rib is) was 60%+ fat and overcooked. Manager did bring a second steak, also majority fat (outer layer, not marbling in steak itself). Both just bad cuts of beef, probably the worst I've seen in the States. Service: Hostess was great, but was all down hill from there. Clear from start our waitress was having a rough night. We tried to get her to loosen up and laugh. Not successful. Bad attitude, very short, never refilled water or came by to ask if we wanted anything or how food came out. And then we met the manager, who perhaps sets the tone for all the wait staff. When I asked him about the steak he went on offensive and tried to start an argument with me and snapped at my wife when she asked him a simple question which he wouldn't answer. Try at your own risk. This has the potential to be an outstanding restaurant. Our experience was a debacle. read more

We had a superb meal here and will definitely return. We went on a Friday night and had seats at one of the high top tables. It's definitely a locals hangout (we're visitors) and very busy on a Friday night - hard to get a reservation. We had the cauliflower soup (light and creamy) and the grilled octopus (perfectly cooked and amazing flavors). For mains we had the lamb and Moroccan meatballs and the potato crusted halibut (very lightly covered). We licked the plates. We loved Juniper. We also did go there when they were having a deal that was 50% of all entrees and 20% off all bottles of wine, which instantly made the experience even that much better. I got the filet and it was very good. Really excellent. It was server with lobster ravioli (sounds amazing, right?) which were good but not quite as amazing as they sound and not as amazing as the actual filet. They have a back covered area that you can tell in the summer is open air overlooking the creek. It was funny because where we were sitting is basically where they have a garage door that closed and the garage door has an actual garage door motor hooked to the ceiling. That description makes the restaurant sound more bohemian which is not particularly accurate. It has a good upscale dressy feel in a Colorado way in which you could probably always get away with wearing nice jeans. I was impressed overall. I would probably have been a little more discerning had everything cost full price but especially since it didn't, it was an amazing meal and great experience. read more

Juniper has been our new favorite in the Vail Valley for 2 years now. The atmophere is elegant, but not over the top. The staff is very professional and leaves you wanting for nothing. Best of all, their menu! They change it approximately every quarter. There is always a wide selection of items to choose from. This winter, the menu has the largest selection we have seen so far. There is something for everyone. Last weekend my husband had the Osso Bucco and I had the Chilean Sea Bass... it was a toss up as to which was better. They have a excellent wine list and dessert menu as well. Reservations are recommended as it is always busy, due to being open year around... its a true locals favorite! TIP: if you are in the area in the Summer... definitely go and try and sit on the back patio over looking the Eagle River, fabulous! read more

Juniper is a Cute restaurant with excellent service. Their drinks were decent. I got their take on a Moscow mule which was very good. I can't really say that any of the appetizers we tried stuck out to me, but they were all good. I ordered the halibut which was nice and light but if I could do it all over again, I would totally order the buffalo. I tried a bite of my friend's dish and it was divine. Highly recommend that. For dessert , we tried the Charles' Hot Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake which was quite delicious. All in all a lovely dining experience aside from my dish envy. read more

I was looking forward to this but what a TERRIBLE decision. We arrived promptly on time and seated. Within minutes this huge annoying heater/toaster oven came on that raised the temp 8-10 degrees. We asked the server to turn it down - said he couldn't. Great. 1 hour and 20 mins later our food arrives. Prior to its arrival we politely requested the status x2-3 and were told it was on the way. It got so bad we asked to speak to the manager. No apology. No I'll look into it. Just I was told you wanted to see me. Pure jack ass. 100%. The food was above average. The service was some of the worst ever. It's disappointing it's being run by such an incompetent manager. read more

We started our night by heading to the Gas House. We parked the car, walked in the door, and then one of the employees yelled at us "you cannot come in this way!!" Umm... ok, the door is open and the awning above the door has your restaurants name. We didn't see another entrance because of where we parked. It was so bizarre that we decided we did not want to come in at all! My phone was dead, so I couldn't look up a 2nd dinner option. We started driving and came up on this shopping/town square development. Within this center, we saw Juniper. Checked out the menu posted outside and decided it looked good enough to try. Boy am I glad we did! What a pleasant surprise. We were seated in a great table overlooking the creek. I had the duck and my husband had the steak. They had some unique dishes and everything was prepared really well. The only thing really keeping it from 5 stars is that it was pretty expensive, so I like a little more bang for my buck when spending that kind of cash on a meal. read more

We loved this restaurant so much we came back twice. It is located inconspicuoulys in Edwards - along a strip-type shopping center. But it's cozy bar and the atmosphere is unpretentious yet sophisticated. The food will blow you away. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are unique. We had a party of 6 both nights and everyone ordered something different. We all shared and EVERYTHING was delicious. The wine list is amazing. Highly recommended. read more

Good looking menu but everything was just a little bland, just a little "off" on texture. The pumpkin oil and seed toppings on the butternut squash soup had much more flavor than the soup itself. The sesame tuna was so-so and the sauce it was in was too watery. I'm told the braised short ribs were bland as well. My dining companion says the N.Y. strip was pretty good but the apple pie was lacking. read more

We have been to Juniper multiple times, and we haven't ever been disappointed. We usually order a fish entree which is packed with flavor. This time we order the calamari in a curry sauce as an appetizer. We have never had calamari like this before, but it was very tasty and delicious. The potato wrapped halibut with gnocchi was excellent, and the pistachio crusted scallops served over Israeli couscous was to die for. We ended our evening with the chocolate lava cake and the apple pie. Both were incredible. The service was super; our wine glasses were never empty. read more
