Wow! Who knew Edwards had gems like Juniper?! It's a cool little spot on the main drag with a great cocktail menu and wonderful service. They fit us in on Saturday night, thankfully. We even hit their off-season 50% off entrees--woohoo! We ordered a vodka drink and some delicious IPAs. Someone in my party had the buffalo, which he said was incredible. From one of the best in the Vail Valley to now one of the worst I've been going to Juniper for close to 15 years but recently had one of my worst experiences at any restaurant anywhere in the world. We made a reservation with friends for a fun evening out. Got to the restaurant on time and were seated promptly. Our waiter was great and very helpful We started with cocktails and some appetizers. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with dinner. Everything was taking a little long to come out but we didn't care we were having a nice evening Before our entrees came out one of the staff came by to tell us we were running out of time on our reservation. We were stunned and had no idea what he was talking about. He said that there was an hour and a half time limit on our table. We had never heard anything so ridiculous. We hadn't even gotten our entrees and they were rushing us out. We complained to the waiter (who was a bit embarrassed). We were never told we were on the clock. Would never have chosen to eat there. We ordered lots of food and drink. It wasn't as if we were loitering, taking up space. It was a big check The waiter said he could send over the "manager". The manager turned out to be the owner, and as others have pointed out in prior review the owner is a horrible person. We explained to him that we had ordered all this food and drink. He said he didn't care how much money we were spending. He was rude, argumentative and a complete fool. It's mind boggling that someone like that could be in business. We paid for what we were served and left. The restaurant wasn't even half full. Total disaster. The quality of food has gone down. The fish served to other tables smelled horrible. Will never go again. Unlike ten years ago, there are so many better choices in the Vail Valley If you're looking for something in Edwards and like a good cocktail bar, go to the Rose a few doors down. Tonight we called another famous restaurant in Avon to inquire about reservations and we were scoffed at, saying there was no way on a Tuesday night our party of four could be accommodated. Too bad for this restaurant! Instead, we went to Juniper in Edwards and dropped close to $600+ From the moment we called them for a reservation, to being greeted, seated and served, it was fantastic! They didn't scoff, laugh or be presumptuous, instead they accommodated us. Not only is the staff phenomenal at Juniper, but the food is impeccable. Hats off to the management, our waiter, Jeff, and the ambiance, but most importantly, the Chef! The evening was the best, and all of our dishes, gourmet! Over all, this is a class act place. I'm writing this in response to a ridiculous review below. Jason D & Mike W (you were at the same table). I was in the restaurant and dining the night of your reviews and you ruined everyone's dinner around you. You also made a claim that I work there when in fact I was a patron. I overheard you say how delicious your appetizer was and better than a neighboring restaurant (I won't name because I support them as well). You didn't order fish or even pay for your meal. I'm pretty sure I overheard it was comp'd. Time limits on tables are the only reason small restaurants can stay in business and give us the opportunity to have a nice dining experience. People like you are what's wrong with society right now ruining it for everyone instead of being grateful to have a fine dining experience. I am thankful for how hard these people are working even at half capacity, just to make a living and keep their people employed. My party indulged in a wide variety of drinks and entrees, all of which were exceptional. Our server Jamie was incredibly attentive, polite, and non-intrusive. Our server was awful. She was lackluster and when picking up a plate, splattered food on my friend's shirt and pants. However, The food was delicious. The tuna poke, and the octopus apps were so fresh and bright. 3 of us ordered scallops and they were perfect. The black risotto was decadent. The Brussels sprouts were the best I have ever had in my life - a must try!! We sat outside on the back patio and it was lovely. I would eat at Juniper again in a heartbeat! It is an upscale place without the feel that a tie and jacket is required. Juniper came highly recommended from some friends, and I have already told others about it since our Sunday visit. My wife had the Veal Scaloppini. Terrible experience. I'm a cordillera resident and used to enjoy coming here often. Drinks were not balanced. I sent my drink back after 1 sip. Everyone at the table tasted my drink and agreed that it was undrinkable. Apple pie was terrible. Sour and inedible. When I told the waiter he was beyond rude and refused to take the items off the menu. He didn't even offer to bring something else. The waiter said the restaurant has a policy that when an item hits the table it will not be taken off the receipt? Ridiculous!! The owner didn't care when I told him. Everyone is short staffed with covid but this was just unacceptable. If you're short staffed and some things aren't made correctly then simply own up to it. This place is one of our favorites the food and service is always awesome and the surroundings are quaint and charming.

We had a reservation and were actually 10 minutes early. Upon arrival, the manager at the desk, DC, informed us the table we requested (many, many times before) were taken by "walk-ins". His only offering were tables we didn't wish to sit at as the sun is bright in that area. Since we did show for our reservation and were unhappy with the seating options, we said we would just leave as DC said they were very busy. He told us he would charge us for a "no show", so we asked about a seat at the bar, which they had (with reserved seats at the corner?). We had a glass of wine, paid our check and left. DC said on OpenTable we "cancelled" our reservation (so we couldn't give a rating). There is a lot of hypocrisy going on about what a reservation and a walk in receives. We have been loyal customers over the years, always making a reservation. We will not be going back and his bully attitude should be fired. read more

I have been coming to Juniper for years and saying this was not my usual experience is an understatement. The worst table at this restaurant is the two top dead center in the middle of a main walkway and we had it. Our waitress showed up 15min after we had been seated, never introduced herself or made us feel welcome. After ordering our first course we sat with empty plates for 20min, we even stacked them up at the edge of the table as our waitress walked by countless times without removing them. The food was pretty average and extremely overpriced. We didn't finish the veal scallopini so we ordered a side of angel pasta to go with the leftovers which was $15... all in all super lack luster experience that left very little to be desired. read more

Worst dining experience ever. The halibut stunk up the entire restaurant - not fresh! Wait staff was excellent and tipped generously. Food and management was subpar. After purchasing appetizers, cocktails and wine we waited for our main entrees. While waiting for the main course to arrive we were told by staff that our reservation had only 30 minutes left. No one told us previously we had a time limit and we had never heard of such a crazy idea. The owner was very rude and unprofessional about our concerns regarding the reservation time limit and having only 30 minutes left on our reservation and still no entrée. We had already spent a lot of money on what we ordered. The owner should hire a manager to run the business because he could care less about taking care of customers. Poorly managed establishment and the owner is awful, as other reviews point out. Much better places to dine in the area. After posting my review, I received a nasty Facebook message which appears to be from a Juniper employee telling me I don't belong in Vail. Juniper appears to have a very strange company culture and taking care of customers is not their priority. Using social media to attack customers after they leave negative reviews probably isn't a good business strategy, especially during these challenging times. read more

I know this is a popular restaurant, and the food is high quality. But the service and willingness to accommodate cancellations is disgusting. If someone in your party happens to get hurt the night of your reservation and ends up in the hospital, prepare to be charged $50/person for the cancelled reservation. They said they would be holding a table for us. when we got there they had us in the parking lot and not in a nice outdoor table by the creek. We decided not to stay. Wife and I went for dinner yesterday and sat in the back covered patio. A nice view to the walking trail and a pretty evening. Server was very helpful, efficient and friendly. Seems to be a popular local place, with good reason. Menu is not overlarge but a nice selection of surf and turf with a Western flair/tilt. Everything I saw others order looked great and everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered. Wine menu has good selections but heavy on higher priced selections. We would have preferred some "medium" priced selections, especially from Napa, which are our favorites. Markup seemed to be 2-2.25 times, which is really not bad, just too focused on $40 and up "retail" bottles. And not especially outstanding selections - but everyone's tastes are different! This a common issue we see in restaurants though, and I think most folks who have nice wine "collections" prefer to drink their own rather than pay the usual markup for wines no better (and usually not as good) than the ones they drink at home. So we had glasses of the Henriot Champagne with the appetizer - the server was nice enough to let us sample that vs the Taittinger Brut and the Henriot was the CLEAR winner! And glasses of the Paraduxx Cab with the meal. A good choice for "by the glass" wine choices! We shared all the food. Appetizer - Pan Seared Porcino Crusted Sea Scallops. Whoa, this was really a great start! Prepared just right and presented excellently. Entree - shared the Filet Mignon and Short Rib Duo. Server suggested that for $8 we have them split it for larger portions of the mashed potatoes and Heirloom Tomato-corn salad, which we did and it was a good idea. We added the Brown Butter Brussels sprouts, which were excellent! Cooked just right - just a slight crunch but not hard - with a nice pop of flavor! The short rib had a nice spice and was very savory, no bone but really tender. The filet was perfect in every way. Supposedly 5 oz filet and 3 oz short rib, but the portion was fine for us with the sides and the appetizer. Finished with the flourless chocolate cake, ice cream and and crunchy Carmel popcorn. A unique presentation and very good. A flawless meal and experience. Juniper would easily compete in our hometown, as many great places as there are in Houston! read more

We come to Beaver Creek every year, dining at a mix of old favorites and not-yet-tried potential future favorites. Unfortunately, Juniper did not make the cut. Having read the reviews and scoped out the menu, we were looking forward to dinner, but our experience fell short. Neither the food nor the service lived up to the hype, and we found it overpriced even by Vail/Beaver Creek standards. Our group of four sampled four different appetizers and four different entrees. All were fine, but none were special or memorable, and none of them would be ordered again. Each dish seemed to be created with an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach to cooking--full of superfluous ingredients that failed to enhance and sometimes detracted from the star of the show. Yellowfin Tuna Poke was overwhelmed by its battered and fried Nori raft floating on a sea of microgreens. Neither the dollops of guacamole nor the flavorless Mango-Sriracha Aioli could save it, and as for the macadamia nuts, all I can say is "Why?" A perfectly good pork chop, when glazed in Espresso, just tastes burnt. Ultimately, there were lots of things to taste, but no flavors to remember. If graded on food alone, this review might have been three stars, but the service and price knocked it lower. Although it was not a busy night, the wait for appetizers was long, and the empty-table wait for entrees was even longer. We grew restless as our waiter chewed the fat with another table off and on for the entire night. When the bill finally came, it was $100 per person, including tip, for a meal that will be remembered as a very long affair at which we received basic sustenance. Last Monday I went to Juniper to ask for a replacement gift certificate that we had lost purchased by my mother for my wife and I to recognize our wedding anniversary. It was $100s of dollars. I said I could provide them with the credit card statement to prove the purchase amount and date. The manager at the host stand said I was SOL as their gift certificates are like cash. if you lose it, it is our loss. He also said that the restaurant doesn't track the use of the gift certificate which sounds like a blatant lie. How would they be able to tell a real gift certificate from a counterfeit if they didn't track them? It is sad to see a lack of basic customer service and integrity in a small fine dining establishment in Edwards, CO. I have lived here a number of years and really don't expect to be treated like this by my neighbors. read more

We initially called the Saddleridge restaurant in Beaver Creek because we were in search for the best steak in the Vail area. However, we called and were told they had just closed last Friday and will reopen next winter Ski season. I asked for a recommendation for the best steaks and were referred to Juniper in Edwards & 48 Vin in Avon. We ordered the Greek salad & Filet and chicken entrees. Every dish was excellent and the Filet was one of the best I have had. The meal was well worth the 20 minute drive from Vail. Had a lovely dinner here last night with a large party of six. Their service was impeccable and food delicious. I loved how wonderful they were with our two young children. The second we were seated they offered each child a fun waxed string kit that kept them busy the entire evening. The kids had a delicious steak and fries kids meal. I was so impressed how good the steak was! It was filet! The server recommended the Veal dish and I loved it. Not too heavy even though it has pasta with it. My husbands ribeye was delicious and the portion was quite large. The rest of our party had the filet and said it was very good as well. One of the members in our party has a dangerous shellfish allergy and they were very attentive and accommodating to ensure the safety of their meal. We have visited Juniper a dozen times over the years and I was just as impressed this week as I was in the past. I have seen a few reviews about the seating and noise. Give them a break on the table placements, they are working with the local Covid restrictions. This is not "the norm" but Junipers is handling it beautifully. We look forward to our next family meal! This restaurant doesn't let you down. The summer menu is mouth watering and hard to make a choice. A side order of Brussels sprouts was perfect as we browsed the menu, great flavor and not burnt..delicious. My friend ordered the salmon and I the scallops. Both were flavorful, perfectly and delicately cooked. Next time I will try the salmon although hard not to order the scallops again. Our server Beth was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable.
