The French toast was heavenly - think a thick slice of the softest bread, beautifully soaked and perfectly crisped, with the tastiest toppings. The chicken and waffles was a refreshing take on a brunch staple, with lots of additional flavors thrown in. The barlotti beans and mushroom cakes were such a hearty meal, with great flavor and texture throughout. And the service! Honestly, impeccable. This was the first time I have experienced the patio seating. This is a strike of genius for JD to expand seating. Inside is much nicer. Outside was cold at time. We had dinner at 5:30p. The west exposure allowed the overly bright sun light to shine in and blind us while we ate. Just FYI if you are eating in this area. The staff was incredibly friendly. They hustled and made sure the refills and food items moved along appropriately. My wife loved the kumbucha that they make on site. The iced tea was not your normal taste. It was a bit water, weak and had more of a mild fruit flavor instead of a tea taste. The glass was very attractive though. I ordered then bolognese. The dish was very attractive and tasty. The noodles were a bit more al dente than I preferred. They were a bit difficult to cut. The sauce was very tasty and slightly creamy without being overly cheesy. There could have been more sauce to bathe the dish and allow you to kip up the more barren noodles. I really liked the finely cut up meat pieces. No special pop or zip to the meat. Lucky enough to get into JDBC on a Monday night for a rare dinner pairing, which was a precursor to upcoming FW restaurant week... Tried the grand slam breakfast and it was fine... nothing to write home about. Not great that our waitress never checked on us or offered a coffee refill. Thing.. if you say no you will wait or sit in an unpleasant seating area... you will walk by at least 5 empty tables that are much better and those tables will be empty as you leave but hey they ensured that only people with reservations get the best tables.... I loved everything about our brunch experience here! The building was unassuming, but as soon as you walk in you're greeted by such a cool space. Everything in the restaurant feels both rustic and modern, somehow. (I'm not one to know much about design haha, but I just really liked the vibes here.) We had a wonderful server that was upbeat, welcomed us very kindly as newcomers in town, and made us feel excited to try out their menu. My partner settled on the chilaquiles after an agonizingly long mental debate over the very tempting options, and I got the chicken and waffles after not quite as long of a decision-making process. The flavors of my dish were complex and very unique, and he also enjoyed his meal! We will definitely come back for more, especially to try the dinner menu as well. We attended a special tasting menu on May 20, 2024. They offered herbivore and omnivore dishes, which is very appreciated. You could pair with wines or beers or just order from the regular bar menu, which we chose the latter. I had the herbivore menu, and I was very happy with everything. Another in our group was disappointed in the lack of sauce and the smaller portions when compared to the omnivore, but she enjoyed what she had. My husband had the carnivore menu. He loved every dish that came out. The beers he chose were both dark, and he thought they were good. The pace of the service wasn't rushed. Our server was delightful. I loved the ambiance of the open space. It's clean and fresh. Our friends eat here regularly because they love in Fort Wayne. They raved about the special events throughout the year. So a couple of things weren't great about our visit today, but I still have to give Junk Ditch a 5 star review because of the amazing food, amazing beer and amazing atmosphere!! These things never disappoint, so I'm willing to overlook some of the other things. We went for brunch today and had the shrimp and grits and the chorizo biscuits and gravy. They were both wonderful! We had the POG beer (a sour) and the Chill Dad (an IPA) and greatly enjoyed both! The POG was so interesting...the longer it sat on your tongue the tastier it was! We'd go back for the same meal again! On the not so great things...the chairs are uncomfortable and not built for anyone with any meat on their bones. It took over 5 minutes for our server to greet us, and we had to ask for our food to be checked on, even though we were one of the first tables to be sat and to order when they opened, as everyone around us got their food first and we waited a significant amount of time for ours. read more

Went to brunch here on the way out of town because of the good reviews we saw on Yelp. This place really is as good as it seems. From the rustic charm of the interior design to the amazing food, you won't be disappointed here. Our server, Jamie, was easy to chat with and authentic. We talked about our trip here and he offered some suggestions for places to try if we ever went back. Honestly, if you could bottle up perfect customer service, he is where you would start. He took time to ask us questions and make sure we had everything we needed. He even came back with a cinnamon roll for us because, as he said, "they are too good not to try them". He wasn't wrong at all. I can honestly tell you, in writing, that it was hands down the best cinnamon roll I have personally ever experienced. It wasn't too sweet, it was presented beautifully, and it was fluffy and all around amazing. We decided to order a plate of biscuits and gravy coupled with their grand slam breakfast. The biscuits were scratch made, super light, but with a nice crisp on them. The sausage gravy was spiced perfectly and the eggs were perfectly cooked to just the right amount of runny. I asked for hot sauce and the only option they had was a house made one. It was fiery but tasted great. The grand slam came with an English muffin that wasn't super dense and tasted good all by itself. The potatoes were addictive and we kept going back in for more even well after being stuffed. The sausage patties were way thicker than you usually get and accented the rest of the flavors wonderfully. The eggs, again, were perfectly cooked. Ideal bachelor party pad, us nine guys celebrated an amazing weekend just past beginning here Saturday. Noticed the menus were customized with a usual note for the special man, great touch, was easy to slide right into our three tables lined up for our reservation. Might've had a second thought being right at the entrance but didn't get run over by a draft or people at all. This is definitely a junk ditch local without any of that lesser suburbia pulling down the atmosphere, rather tastefully industrial toned space that feels warm, minimalist, intimate, and spacious all at the same time. We skipped the food at first noticing a lovely brewery list. Odd to see now cocktails but later our wallets were thankful for that. I sampled three beers, as my custom, noticed their passion fruit sour a perfected blend of ripe citrus and exquisite mouth tingling pucker. That would be a my typical choice without sampling at all but I do enjoy a good lager too and had not seen an English bitter before. Both seemed easy to drink but didn't register much for my pallet. Also a huge shout-out to the Crafted Artisan Meadery, their berry savage was out of this world! Oddly enough my internal clock sprung forward past the sour and went for the Starlight stout without a sample only on a hunch that's what I needed. And wow, was I right! Few stouts hit so bitter and smooth, Junk Ditch has an excellent win here and should I not live two hours away would keep a growler stocked with the stout! Funny enough it was my favorite for the entire night. Maybe tied with the brussel sprouts, easily the best I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, given a royal treatment of toppings, and couldn't help myself scrapping the plate down. I thoroughly enjoyed the pretzel bread and lamb soup as well. The house read us well and offered two extra sprouts and pretzels which both disappeared in moments. Good thing too because seven of the boys got burgers, incredibly tasty I hear, yet quite small for the prices. I'm used to Lafayette sized burgers like from Teays River Brewery and our nationally featured college staple, Triple XXX, where the burgers show up same sized as JD at way less the price. Small matter on a big night, with fantastic fries, great friends, and winning brews! Hard to fault the whole night, prices are a thing to be aware of and the odd menu that ran the flavors of kombucha and craft soda together looking like one unique drink. I didn't realize my watermelon jalapeno kombucha wasn't weirdly spicy acidic and missing the big red fruit until the day after: guess watermelon OR jalapeno! There's plenty of parking, good location, well trained and friendly staff, and a well thought out menu sure to make a great time for most anyone. read more

Let me just say if I could give this place 6 stars I would! Stopped in Fort Wayne for the night on a road trip and consulted Yelp! for recommendations for supper. This place was highly rated and different, so I decided to give it a try. The building itself exudes atmosphere-- very casually elegant. Seated promptly with water on the table, and Meagan soon arrived to get the drink and app orders. The smoke salmon dip was TDF!!! The dip itself was tasty, but the combination of flavors on the plate was incredible. Ordered the Shio Ramen as my entree, and it was every bit as tasty. My travel companion had the Sausage and Mushroom Pizza which was also quite tasty. I wanted to try dessert, but we were stuffed. From what I have read, I want to come back for brunch in the morning. I was very excited to join friends whom I had not seen in a long time for Sunday brunch at Junk Ditch. Since I knew JD is usually very busy during weekend brunches, I made a reservation ahead of time. When I got there on time, no one was at the hostess stand and several people came in right after me. Still no hostess. I decided to check and see if my friends were already there but didn't see them. I waited about 7 or 8 minutes before the hostess came to check on the line of people waiting. Some people had even come in, waited a few minutes, and left. When the hostess seated me, she took me into a back area that I didn't know about, where all my friends were already seated and waiting. The server was very friendly and accommodating with special requests from myself and another friend who have to be careful what we eat. Unfortunately, that's where the good part ended. The food with our special requests, and recommendations on alterations from the server, was not great. It was soupy with undercooked eggs (and I like my eggs with runny yolk, but these were completely undercooked and not hot). I will say my two friends who ordered straight from the menu said their food was good. And, I guess because we made reservations, the staff started letting us know that they needed our table for another reservation to prep for, and continued to come out and check on our progress, including starting to bring out the table settings and stacking on the table next to us, so we would know they needed us to leave. I know there were some extenuating circumstances to our experience because of the special food requests and not having seen each other in so long, but for the price we paid for food, we should have received excellent food and the best service possible. Don't accommodate, and even recommend, substitutions if the food will not be prepared with the same care as the same food without the special requests. I will probably give them another chance, but highly recommend not going during busy times and not making special food requests. read more

Excellent experience on a Friday night by with my wife and I. It was our first time trying JDB. The server asked if it was our first time there and we told her it was. She brought out a free tasting portion of the brussels sprouts for us to try. We had already ordered our salads or we definitely would have ordered the sprouts. Next time we will for sure! We each got a pizza to try. One was the curry shrimp and the other was the BBQ chicken. Both were great! As we surveyed the diners around us and what they were eating, everything looked fantastic. Two chefs decide start brewing beer and magic happens. I find this place on Yelp. Cool little joint in close to downtown Fort Wayne. I'm a sucker for really good beer and Gastropub quality food. Jackpot! I walk in to a close to empty place on a Wednesday night. Bartender names Karma is lovely. Knows the menu, knows the beer, and knows the history of Junk Ditch. They have two really good Hazys on tap, both are superb. Idle Enterprise and Spectacular Draculas. I have the whipped ricotta for an appetizer. She adds an on the house Brussel sprouts app. I will dream about the whipped ricotta for months to come. The veggies, the baguette the creamy goodness of the ricotta. It was heaven. The Brussels were a close equal. My eyes say for more so I order the soba noodle bowl. Pure bliss. Pure flavor. Amazing. Couldn't finished it because my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Junk Ditch is my favorite Fort Wayne restaurant. We always end up visiting at least once while in town, typically for brunch. The quality of their food, creative menu, comfortable-but-modern atmosphere, and locally focused ingredients sets them apart; there really are not many options like it in the Fort, with its plethora of chain restaurants and/or local places that haven't updated their menus in 20 years. A lot of Junk Ditch's menu is seasonally based, features a diverse mix of vegetables, and changes often, so don't get super attached to any particular item. For brunch, you can't go wrong by ordering the pastry board, which comes with a trio of delicious, flaky pastries baked onsite by GK Baked Goods. The board always arrives with GK's decadent cinnamon roll, something savory (like a butternut squash galette), and something a little sweet (cranberry danish anyone?). I've also enjoyed the chuck roast hash, quiche of the day, veggie grain salad with egg added, veganized brunch burger...for an out-of-towner, I've been to Junk Ditch a lot. Gooey fried eggs abound; someone in the kitchen must worship at the altar of soft yolk. For dinner, always order whatever version of the whipped ricotta appetizer is available. There is a typically an Asian-style soup or two, involving soba noodles or ramen, as well as a homemade pasta dish (like a short rib gnocchi or bucatini bolognese). There's a create-your-own burger option for your picky relative who may not "get" sambal aioli or yolk worship. Junk Ditch is one of those places where everyone at the table should be required to order something different, so that plates can be shared and the table can taste as much of the menu as possible. I haven't been blown away by any of Junk Ditch's in-house brewed beers and recommend trying a flight of options (rather than committing to a full individual pour). I do admire that Junk Ditch is one of the few local places that brews their own beer and serves fantastic food, so fingers crossed on their beer improving...or you can just enjoy their tart and flavorful kombucha instead. If you or your loved one are vegan, Junk Ditch is super accommodating; unlike most restaurants that just remove the non-vegan offending item, Junk Ditch typically offers a thoughtful vegan substitute instead, so not to deprive the customer. For weekend brunch, I recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant seems to be pretty popular with locals in the know. Service has always been friendly and efficient, and the decor involves a bunch of natural wood, natural light, industrial finishes, and dark gray paint (my happy place). Junk Ditch is amazing; I never get tired of it and I hope that its influence will inspire similar places to open in the Fort. read more

I used to travel to FW for work many years ago, but hasn't been back since (and even then I mostly saw the inside of an office or hotel). I was excited to try JD, the menu looked good and it had lots of rave reviews. We arrived on the later side of lunch, so we had no terrible scoring a table. It's a cute rustic place with a industrial feel. I ordered the shrimp banh mi with the fries and husband the carnitas poutine and a beer. We were both very pleased with our meals and agreed the thick hand cut fries were divine. I don't get a lot of banh mis as a pescatarian, and was thrilled by the option. The bread was a bit more soft than crunchy, but it worked. Overall, we highly recommend this place. We'd definitely strip by again if we were passing through. It was a cold wintry night where we decided to have dinner at the Junk Ditch Brewing Company. The restaurant itself is Tucktaway behind the gas station so it's very easy to miss in the dark. Luckily it was a Sunday night so it wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately our server was wonderful. She went through the menu options and was very attentive and friendly, this is probably one of the best services we've received here in Fort Wayne. The food is definitely above average in price, however, it is quite tasty. We started out with the pretzel and pub cheese. The pretzels were nice and warm. However, I was hoping for the traditional large German pretzels. They let us sample their brussels sprout appetizer, which was surprisingly good as the brussels sprouts were not hard in the various ingredients that they used to marinated gave it a great flavor. The main course was the Junk Ditch burger, which was quite a handful as the egg had already begun to leak. The locally farmed burger was good however, it felt like it could use just a little bit more seasoning. The kids had the Woodfire pizza, which is one of the best ones I've had in Fort Wayne. I loved this place and always enjoyed the food, however, last time I went here with friends I had a rather unfortunate experience. I ordered the burger and was about halfway through it when I noticed something moving on top of my burger bun. Upon closer inspection, I quickly realized it was a small white worm alive & wiggling around on top of my food. Immediately lost my appetite. We sent it back and I was assured that it was 'just from the produce' since it is farm to table. They comped my burger, but nothing else. Everyone at the table lost their appetite after that. Our server was super nice and handled it well, but bugs on your food is a pretty bad experience. I understand it being farm to table, and bugs & worms are a part of that, but how did it end up on top of the burger bun and are they not washing produce when it comes into the kitchen?
