They had it all done in about 1.5 hours, and did not complain at all about all the items needing to be removed, including a refrigerator. So I found Junk King after a couple days researching and ultimately I saw how highly rated this place was so I went for it. In preparation for a big move I had to get rid of a good amount of "junk" that I no longer needed. I had my day planned for it and had family here to help with everything. To my surprise, what I thought was a booking for a dumpster type service where we do it ourselves, in fact turned out to be the full service- you tell them what to take and they haul it off. This brings me to the one gripe I had about everything. The website gives the impression that they offer a diy dumpster service as well as the kind where they do the heavy lifting and haul everything away. The two young men who helped that day explained that they don't actually offer the dumpster service where you do it yourself at all. They said it must be the junk kings in other states. So with that said, it was a total miscommunication between me and everything that the website says they offered! I think the website should be a little more clear so that customers know exactly what they are booking. Misunderstandings aside, I am overall still happy with the service as they took out everything that was bulky and a pain to get rid of so no complaints there. I just was a bit surprised and if anything felt bad as we could've been more prepared for the guys. If there was ever a need for this type of service I'd definitely consider it. read more

Great service at a great price. The entire experience with Junk King was easy and professional from start to end. It was easy to book a time for pickup on their website with plenty of time options to fit my schedule. Then before the actual appointment, they kept me well informed of the time and dates through reminder e-mails and a call in the morning before they actually came. The 2 guys who performed the junk removal were extremely thoughtful and detail oriented in their work. They were careful in how they moved things, so that they didn't harm my floor or wall at all (even though this probably took a lot more trips). They asked me about certain items I wanted to keep (like laminate flooring) that I hadn't identified at the beginning. They also did a very good job of clearing the space of small junk and debris after all the big items were moved. A few other small things impressed me about their work as well. Some of the items were fairly heavy, but they still parked in the street instead of the driveway and just moved things further. They made sure to ask before they used any facilities or items in the house (like a paper towel). They were enthusiastic and had smiles throughout the entire process. And they provided a quote before any work was started and the final price came to exact amount expected: no hidden fees or other things. I'd definitely use Junk King again for any future needs. My sister and I had the overwhelming task of clearing my parents' house out in one week to sell. I will say that paying for Junk King was one of the best investments of my life! Let's just say my parents are "horderish". We went through the entire house and sold and gave away the furniture that we wanted to and saved the paperwork and other items that we wanted to. Then we left the rest as it was. That's when four guys from Junk King came in and bagged everything up and cleared everything out, including a washing machine, a mattress, a bunch of papers and misc. items, clothing, and stuff left over from our garage sale all within three hours! It only took them a half hour to clear out the entire second floor. They were very easy to work with and very efficient. They were careful not to ruin the freshly painted walls. The price came in at just a little more than what they quoted us before hand that was because it took them an extra truck full of items than they anticipated. I highly recommend using Junk King if you have to clear out a house. It's much more efficient than paying for a dumpster plus they are able to recycle 60% of the items. read more

Great job - showed up on time - clean removal and cooperative - good experience. When paying by charge you will be asked for a tip ranging from 15 to 25% - given the work took 30 mins 15% of $500 ... $75 for a two person crew ... seemed high so ended up giving them smaller cash tip and felt a little guilty. I ended up dropping a star off the rating - had to do more cleanup than expected - swept driveway of debris, picked up large metal screws (3 to 5 inches) and large metal washers in yard after disassembly of playset. read more

I personally don't like to give poor reviews and prefer to recognize people/companies for their good services. However,it is not the scenario with Junk King. Please be aware of their bait & switch on quotes. That's not the worst of it. Their two workers that removed our one piece couch from the basement were totally inept. Despite me suggesting to them three times on how to maneuver the couch up the stairs, they completely ignored my suggestion: as if I was not present. Then, one of the worker decided to break/saw the couch in half without asking my permission and not placing any protective plastic on the carpet to capture any debris from sawing the couch in half. Furthermore, worker didn't have any personal protective gear and was very amateur in using the electric saw. Unreal! I was scared for the worker in potentially sawing his fingers-off and ignored my comment of "be-careful". Totally appalled by his disregard of my comments. I followed up with the office and they too like their workers ignored my concern and comments. It's been 6 days since my service, radio silence! They damaged my walls and loosened my stair railing. My entire experience with Junk King Chicago North was actually really enjoyable. Jake (I believe that was his name, forgive me if it's not!) called me this morning to see if he could adjust my appointment time as he had some men in my area already. This actually worked out better for me, (the sooner my junk is out of my house, the better)! He said he'd call when the guys were about 10 minutes out, which he did, and the guys arrived right when he said they would. Jake was awesome when it came to communication throughout the process, and made sure to honor the $20 off "coupon" that I got for booking online (which I actually forgot about so I'm glad he was honest and brought it up!). He quoted me the price over the phone and gave me a better price than I've seen advertised at a lot of these junk hauling companies I've been looking into. Additionally, Jake was super personable and friendly, and just overall a nice person to talk to on the phone. When the guys arrived at my house the whole process was over and done with in about 5 minutes. They found my place easily (most people do not due to maps incorrectly labeling our house), hauled out my full size mattress and box spring into their truck, and accepted my payment with NO issues whatsoever, and NO trying to get me to pay extra due to stairs, coming inside, etc. Just an overall honest and great company to work with. I also want to note, that I hired a different company yesterday to remove the same full size mattress and box spring but they took my money and no called, no showed me, and left me waiting around for them to not show up for 5 hours.
