We are from out of town but we're visiting for a conference and my friend I was traveling with had been here before and was really excited to check it out again. I was quite surprised by the size inside given the small store front but I very impressed. They had a huge selection and almost anything you could imagine! It's close to Halloween so they had a lot of costumes but plenty of other things for you to make your own stuff too! I also really enjoyed how they had positive messages posted on all of the racks between some of the hangers to really brighten your day or just to make you smile. It was a great touch! The employees were also great and willing to help anyone who asked and seemed to have great ideas for any costume idea someone brought to them. I have read other reviews with people saying the pricing is a little high but maybe it's because I'm from the Bay Area, I thought prices were pretty reasonable for the used items. The new items seemed to be your average retail price with not a huge mark up. But again, I'm used to higher prices so maybe that's why they seemed fine to me. I did find a few cute things and felt I got a pretty good deal on them! We plan to visit Reno again soon and I am definitely looking forward to going back here and shopping again! It's a really fun shop, and the price is pretty darn good. My only complaint was the store gets kinda packed easily and the clothing area is very dense with clothes which can make it hard to look and walk around. Overall go when it's not busy because it's quite a special spot read more

I love coming to Junkee's! If you're looking for any costume, prop, or cool staple addition to your wardrobe, this is the place to go in Reno! The staff is super friendly and it's like a thrift shop on steroids - huge and wonderful selection. I've come here quite a few times to get things for zombie crawl, halloween costumes, santa crawl, even snow clothes! Every time I come in I - like most 20-something-year-old women - am super indecisive. "Do I want this outfit with this jacket? Or this prop with this costume? My boyfriend isn't here but I'm shopping for him too, do you think this fits like a normal medium???" The staff is always super sweet, and will stand at the fitting rooms waiting for me to come out and letting me know their honest opinions, I LOVE IT! The only thing I wish was that some of the items were not so overpriced. Coming from the Bay Area I've gotten a Patagonia jacket at Goodwill for $10, so paying $40 for a snow jacket seemed kind of excessive, especially since it was pretty worn and definitely not waterproof anymore. This place did not exist in Reno when I used to live here some odd 15 years ago. This makes me sad because this store is quite amazing! There are two sides to the place; one for clothing and costumes and the other for antiques. I paid a visit to Junkee Clothing Exchange today because I was just given notice that a friend of mine having a 1920's themed wedding where costumes are very much encouraged. Junkee had quite a few racks of dresses containing styles from just about every decade; in fact many of the tags are labeled with the decade. After leafing through all of the racks I headed to the dressing rooms to try on a handful of dresses. The associate who let me into the room stayed with me the whole time helping me to choose the perfect dress and find some amazing accessories. She was super helpful in telling me what kinds of things were popular in the 20's. I know for a fact that I would not have walked out of that store with the perfect ensemble without this help. If you are in need of any kind of costume this is the place to go. If you are just in a browsing mood this place is likely to eat up some of your time, but I'm sure you will have a great time and will maybe even go home with something unexpected. read more

My girlfriend and I were driving around Reno and looking for some thift stores and randomly -came across this awesome place! I can't even explain it... it was a two-in-one. A vintage-thrift store and a antique shop together under one roof. The stuff in there was amazing and the prices were very reasonable (when in comparison to Buffalo Exchange and the Attic). This place was very much like the Attic. The decor was awesome. Staff was laid back. Prices weren't appauling, and selection was incredible. They had everything you could think of from gas masks to tutus. Pros- * very organized making extremely easy to shop * they have Junkee Clothing Exchange Shirts randomly throughout the store. The price tag read free. When I got to the register, I found out it was free indeed! *2 stores in one with a walkthrough that combines both. The Vintage shop has soooo many cool finds: from a rare limited edition Beatles lithograph to Royal Daulton originals! *Buybacks just like Buffalo Exchange Cons- * I don't live in Reno and there isn't one in Vegas! I've been to junkee's a million times, and after this last experience I'll probably never go again. My boyfriends and I went in to find some costume pieces, of which we had issues finding, so we went to find some help. We found three of the girls working, who were talking to each other, so we politely stood by them to wait for them to finish their conversation before we interjected. We probably waited for them to acknowledge us for 10-15 minutes before we gave up and left. Yes, we definitely could have interrupted to get help, but after waiting for 5 minutes, with the women in charge of helping us, not noticing us, it became more and more ridiculous. You lost two customers due to your workers conversation with each other being more important than your customers needs. If you know what you need and where you are going to grab it you'll be fine, but don't go in hoping for help. I doubt you'll find it. read more

This is one of the places I have been hearing about and thinking about visiting for a long time. I finally went in and was happy that I did. It is not the sort of place where you dash in, scope the display, grab a shirt off the rack and run out. It is worth the time it takes to look through the seemingly over abundance of choices and discover the amazing treasures that are just waiting for you to find them. This is a second hand store and so each item is unique and many are unique to the point of quirky. Because they are always getting new items in, it is assured that if you can't find what you want this time around, you have a good chance of finding it next time. The prices are very reasonable. I was able to cobble together (with a lot of great help) a beautiful outfit for a formal dinner for under $20. My main quibble is there were not a lot of items for a plus sized girl like me. Maybe next time I am in there will be more items that will fit. I totally thought I had already reviewed this place, perhaps even more than just once! Well... that being said, this is long overdue! I LOVE JUNKEE! I think this is one of the most fun places to shop (and not just because the owner and I share a name). Everyone is always so willing to help and they have a wide variety of different items to choose from. I frequent the clothing side but have wander into the antiques area on one or two occasions to take a gander and to get to the restroom. (PS I love that over the toilet it requests that you do not poop). Back to the store... the clothing side has a million and one items. Everything from "normal", everyday wear to vintage items and costumes. I love coming here for theme or period parties as well as to shop for the many "crawls" Reno puts on. Though it is relatively inexpensive, don't come without your wallet; you're going to want to buy a lot. Awesome place! They accept credit card which is a great plus. If you think the outside looks wacky, wait til' you see the inside! There are mannequins on top of clothing racks wearing tutus made out of magazines, walls lined with a plethora of different fabrics, crazy colors everywhere, and a bunch of random antiques you probably wouldn't think ever existed. Where else can you get $6 very clean and barely used Pumas, free shirts, $15 leather jackets, $7 padded bong bags, and awesome dressing rooms? Nowhere I can think of...Which is why I absolutely adore this place. Every time I go to Reno, I make it a point to stop by this place, otherwise I feel incomplete. They have one of the best selections of second hand goods I have ever seen and they don't overprice anything. In theory, I love vintage thrift shopping. I just can't imagine forking $100 for a blazer or $30 for a shirt, so the idea of scrounging around and finding a one-of-a-kind piece for a good price is, in theory, appealing I am currently in Reno visiting family and we decided to pop in here to find some vintage clothing. Junkee is a fun store. Everything is well organized and there are hints of items everywhere that seem to catch the eye. I found a Claiborne blazer($14.95) and a nice Ralph Lauren suit for $18.00 bucks! What a find! Staff was helpful, but I don't like how the credit card machine prints out your entire credit card number on the receipt. They must be using a vintage machine because it's not supposed to print out all the numbers just the last 4 digits. I've had my card number stolen before in Canada, so I was really concerned about the security. However I still love this store and I will be back, but probably will bring cash next time. read more

Wish I had come here when I needed a tutu. Wish I had come here when I needed to dress up for that Burner wedding I went to. Wish I was a lot hipper, trendier, and cooler than I look like in real life. A fun place to wander around in and a big thumbs up for the fascinating displays in this store. On the right side is a bizarre mix of antiques and retro stuff. I wouldn't really call it a thrift store because you'd be hard-pressed to find anything for $1, but they had everything from old glass jars to a gently used dog crate that looked brand-new. You could make an evening of it, stop in at Junkee and fill your eyes with all kinds of neat and wonderful stuff, then you could have dinner somewhere in MidTown at one of the many great restaurants. And over dinner you'd probably be talking about some of the eclectic art you'd seen at Junkee. Or maybe the conversation would turn to that great second hand dress or pair of boots that would look simply outstanding and gorgeous beyond gorgeousness on your body. And even if you don't buy anything, they're more than glad to let you look and there's an awful lot to look at. You could spend a month in there and never see it all, cuz before you even got close to seeing everything, more's coming in. What a great store! Clothing and antiques in one huge area. If youre looking for a costume or outfit for special event, this is a great place to look. Ugly holiday sweaters? Santa costumes, Santa helper costumes, they have them. Prices seemed fair to high for some items. My favorite was the antique side- and that is quite a large selection with several rooms. I found several holiday gifts here and some accessories yet really there is something for everyone you might consider hard to shop for. My favorite - great customer service! Helpful staff available to answer questions and take your selections to the counter while you still shop. Awesome, unique place to browse. I love these kind of hipster second hand stores were you can browse for hidden treasures! For me the fun in a place like this is the search. I tend to lose track of time and wander in these environments so have learned to only visit when have plenty of time and in no hurry. This place uses every space possible to display so if you are claustrophobic you may not enjoy as much! Also during my visit I quickly realized my 8 year old daughter does not view these type of places with the same fondness as I do. I've been going here for years & I used to walk in feeling welcomed! But these last 3 times I've gone within these past few months, it's been so disappointing. The staff act like I'm bothering them when I ask a question or need help. I waited for someone to help me & stood near two ladies patiently for them to finish their conversation to never get acknowledged. Then once I finally got one of them to help me, they were just so rude. Another time, I was even in the fitting rooms just to hear two staff talking about a customers weight? I don't even wanna come back anymore with the treatment lately, such a shame. Really cute store with great finds I just wish the staff would be more welcoming. read more

I've been here 3 times and always find something. Good prices on vintage and used clothing. The antique section is huge and packed with stuff. It always takes me at least an hour to go through it all. A lot of the vintage is pretty as is with a loose seam here or small hole there but they also have older and nicer pieces behind the counter that you can look at. Friendly staff. This place never disappoints. I've been coming here for years and always walk out with a smile on my face. The costume side of the store is great! Sometimes it is a bit pricey so I prefer to check out goodwill beforehand. But if you know exactly what you want then junkees will have it! The antique side of the store is my favorite part. In all fairness this first review is notable for the clothing/costume portion of this estalishment. I was so enthralled with the vintage, revisited and new apparel section of Junkee, I ran out of time and-had to make my daughter, whom I was visiting, promise to bring me back prior to my departure next week, to visit the antiques, collectibles and art. If she can pry me away from collecting a few more items from the plethora of offerings from clothing. This is definitely becoming a destination shop-stop when visiting Reno is on the docket. Update to original review above- 2 days later. As promised and delivered my daughter returned us to this notable shopping venue, sans grandsons and peers.
