    Sea turtle

This exceeded my expectations! Marissa is super knowledgeable and passionate about south Florida's wildlife and environment, and has an eye for spotting all the sea creatures! We saw rays, turtles, manatees, star fish, and even a shark swam by to say hello. This was such a fun way to start our Saturday and to be active in the sun. I highly recommend.

This was one of my BEST adventures ever!!! I've never been paddle boarding before and prior to getting started, Marissa gave my husband and I a detailed tutorial of how to maneuver the paddle board and what to expect. I started out on my knees and within 5 minutes I was standing up and also within 5 minutes I wiped out!!!! It was great!!! Marissa never once got impatient with me even though I kept falling off the paddle board and at one point was tangled up in the mangroves . She came to my rescue each time, asked if I was okay, and we continued the tour. Meanwhile, my husband was playing it safe and was on his knees the entire time. The path we took was serene, beautiful, and filled with wildlife. We saw various fish, pelicans, and seagulls. We were hoping to see some manatees, but the tour was excellent nevertheless. Midway into the tour, I was a pro! I was able to steadily stand up most of the way, but sat my butt back into knee position when the wind picked up. Marissa was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer the many questions I had about paddling and the wildlife. This tour was part of my 15-year anniversary and we are definitely coming back with our children. Thanks Marissa for adding excitement to my anniversary trip!!!! YOU ROCK!!!

My first SUP... My first paddle! I'm so glad High Point was able to provide an amazing service- easy quick paddle board rental! We pulled in and parked within the gates of the new launch area of MacArthur Park. Keep in mind this paddle operation is run through the park, it's a national park, so they have some rules They can't hold your car keys, you can't launch your own boards from their launch, and they must have everyone back by 4 PM to name a few As long as you ask the right questions and are low maintenance your day should go smooth like ours We had 9 AM reservations for two to paddle around munyon Island area... we pulled right into their parking area and signed our waivers and were off we booked on a day that was high tide in the morning and very low wind... We were able to paddle around from "rest stop" beach to "rest stop" beach It was fun having the whole boat free intercoastal area to ourselves with only a few other paddlers and kayakers in sight After an hour and a half on the water we decided to Head back as the wind was picking up a little bit... Glad we decided to head back when we did because it took us about 30 to 40 minutes to paddle from one end of the little Cove to the other. If I could give anyone a tip it would be to make sure you bring nice cold water, wear a hat and sunblock, and take it easy and have fun!

I just moved to South Florida from Connecticut and brought my kayak with me in hopes of seeing some wildlife. My boyfriend doesn't have a kayak of his own and suggested we book a rental with a tour guide to show us around - I am so glad we did! Misty and her super cute canine, Abu, were the most amazing tour guides ever. Before our arrival, Misty kept in contact with excellent communication. She provided quality rental equipment, and not only did we feel very safe the entire time, she is an expert at spotting wildlife. The Peanut Island paddle was suggested for us - we were so blessed to see an abundance of manatees floating under us, a stingray, a starfish so big I almost called the Guinness Book of World Records (haha only half-joking!) and plenty of beautiful birds, lizards and fish. The excursion took about two hours and we never felt rushed at all, although it was just the right amount of time before we started to get a little tired. Can't thank Salty Dog Paddle enough for this incredibly special and very memorable experience. Misty was even thoughtful enough to take photos and videos for us which she sent after - she really was the best part of this experience for us!! Highly recommended!!!

I loved that it offers so many activities in one place--kayaking, paddleboarding, the beach, picnic areas, a gift shop, and educational exhibits--all at very reasonable prices. Parking was only $5, and the kayak and paddleboard rentals were affordable too. Unfortunately, I happened to visit on a day with an extremely low tide. Paddleboard rentals were suspended, but kayak rentals were still available. The staff did warn us about the low tide and advised us to stay near the edges to avoid getting stuck. However, as someone new to kayaking, I didn't realize just how much the tide would impact the experience. For a large portion of our trip, the water was so shallow that our kayaks constantly got stuck. We had to repeatedly get out and drag them through the water. At times, the water wasn't even ankle deep. I completely understand that the staff can't control the tides, but I honestly wish kayak rentals had also been paused that day because the conditions made it difficult to really enjoy the experience. By the time we finished kayaking, we were exhausted and felt pretty gross from walking through the murky water, so we ended up skipping the beach altogether. Outside of that, the park itself looked lovely. There was a nice picnic area, a cute gift shop, and they even had a rescued sea turtle with a volunteer sharing information about sea turtle conservation, which was a really nice touch. There also appeared to be several educational exhibits throughout the park, although they happened to be closed during our visit. One downside was a pretty unpleasant smell near the gift shop, but I'm guessing that may have also been related to the unusually low tide. Despite my experience, I haven't written the park off. The photos I've seen online make it look absolutely beautiful, and I think we were just unlucky with the timing. I'd definitely consider coming back on a day with higher water levels to give it another chance. It sounds like a great park overall--I just recommend checking the tide conditions before planning to kayak or paddleboard so you can enjoy it at its best.

My issue was not with the requirement itself, but with the fact that nobody mentioned it when I initially inquired about renting. Had I known beforehand, I could have prepared accordingly. The test contained technical boating questions that many people with little or no boating experience would not reasonably know. When I asked why this requirement had not been disclosed earlier, the employee's response was to call me "crazy" rather than provide a professional explanation. I was also told about a mandatory 10% tip before I had even booked the jet ski or received any service. Being presented with a required tip upfront, combined with the lack of communication about the boating test, felt misleading and unprofessional. Customers deserve to be treated with respect when asking legitimate questions. A simple explanation would have gone a long way. the lack of unprofessional behavior left a very negative impression of this company brand of jetski rentals. Do not recommend.
