One of my favorite places to eat in the Heights! Have tried multiple varieties of Mac & Cheese here, and Jus' Mac has never failed to impress. But tonight I was in there and saw something that made me GLAD I give this restaurant my business. A homeless guy walked in and instead of being thrown out (which is kinda what I was expecting), the employee engaged in a friendly conversation with the guy, asked him "how much do you need", and subsequently dug into his pockets to find some money to give to the guy. We live in a world that's often cruel to people down on their luck - but tonight at Jus' Mac's - this particular employee treated this particular homeless guy as another human being, and we're all better off for it. read more

I was recommended this place by many of my friends. They had hyped it up a lot and walking in i liked the way it looked. There was a great amount of options when it come to the flavors. I got the cheeseburger flavor and it wasn't anything crazy. Also, the prices were really high for what you were getting, but it is something I recommend to try! read more

The staff here is extremely rude. My wife went here with 4 friends where they tried to order. They used the menu on the wall. The price was clearly marked. Then at the register it rings up higher. A small thing. They say the price isn't right and the staff proceeds to argue with them. They decide to leave. As they are leaving, the supervisor says these are the type of people the owners don't want. Don't worry owner, you will not see us again. Add on top of this that the food is mediocre and you get 1 star. I can't believe this place stays open. I've had 2 types here. The goat cheese which is a stretch but I tried it anyway. Very soupy with almost no noodles. Goat cheese can be sharp and this one was. They really needed to balance that with something .. Big miss. Since all the reviews and word of mouth has this place runnin' outta noodles and stuff, I decided to get in while the getting's good... when the joint opens up. I got there @530 on a thursday.... and it was damn near packed then... I was soo excited... one of my favorite comfort foods mixed with some of my other foods... what could be better?? so i whipped into the smallish maze of a lot and decided to emark on this nostalgic journey . I love the decor, the space is very open but it is small too and the layout is weird. i gotta table near the soda machine to avoid the line that snakes thru the dining room, but if you're tryin to lay low this ain't the spot. It's most def a kid friendly place. What kid doesn't like mac and cheese?? I saw plenty of yuppies and their kids in strollers and toddlers with cheese running down their chin to put any child bearing aspirations to rest for awhile... but this spot is cozy. . So I ordered... the beef brisket and mac and cheese.... I dunno what i was expecting... but it wasn't bad. I've had better mac and cheese, but if you like the soupy kinda mac like that from Luby's or the local hospital cafeteria... then this will suit you just fine... I like mine a little less loose where the cheese is actually present as cheese not more or less a sauce over noodles. I came here because I'd heard from some friends that it was really good, and I love mac 'n' cheese so I thought "Why not?". Urg, what a mistake! I find the staff to be quite rude. The person who took my order seemed impatient with me for some reason I don't understand, and the waitress was snappy when I asked a simple question. But you know, sometimes I can forgive a rude staff if the food is really good, and as I was very hungry the night I came to the restaurant, that's all I cared about. Unfortunately, the food was so subpar, especially for the prices, that I left infuriated. Firstly, I don't think the portion sizes are big enough for the price. The pictures of the food look a lot bigger than the actual portion you get. A regular size Popeye couldn't fill me up on an empty stomach. Alas, I paid $10.99 for it (changed the pasta to wheat). Secondly, I don't know how often those who rated this place highly cook, but the food was bland, and as I'd ordered the Popeye, I expected to see *a lot* of spinach in my plate. I got like 3-4 leaves and a bit of mushroom. Ridiculous. Also, as the food is served in a skillet, I expected the edges of my plate to have slightly crispy mac, one of the best things about mac 'n' cheese. But I didn't get any of that. I feel they serve the food in skillets just to add to their little hipster vibe. Thirdly, when the restaurant is busy, it gets quite hot. I don't think think they have an AC system, considering the fact that there was a large stand-alone fan by the door. You'd think they'd take all the extra money from their overpriced food and buy a proper AC. These people need to either increase their portion size or reduce their prices, and they should also up the quality of the food. But I think there are enough people who don't know better and what the "being a little kid again" experience of eating mac 'n' cheese who will keep them open. read more

For a small business, a good establishment, like Tia (specialty) I think would be risky. But they have proven me wrong. Great pace, good staff! Mother N Law loves it. When we go visit we always have to take her the Bacon Bliss or Cheeseburger! I am sorry they scaled down the menu and got rid of the small size w/side salad (best ranch dressing). But I am sure it was for scalability and economics. I am here again and so sad to say it but they have scaled back even more. I use to love the salads, still do, but everything onion, tomatoes sliced or chopped so thin and little you can't taste it, you order extra, you gotta pay for every little thing. They no longer take cash to protect from robbery I guess. Why else. Being a reg early patron, it feels like changes are not for any concern or to improve SVC. If you can ignore the lack of knowledge that the cashier has (she couldn't tell me how the bleu cheese sauce was prepared), this is a good dinner option. I had the bleu cheese mac with a Saint Arnold root beer and a chocolate chop cookie. ALL very delicious! I will definitely be back and I would order the same thing. Update: For those of you that think that the cashier's inability to tell me how the bleu cheese sauce was made was "petty," please consider that there are people who have food allergies and they would like to know how their food is prepared. I'm not asking you to tell me the secret ingredients or the secret recipe, I just want to know I won't have an allergic reaction to something I eat while at this establishment. read more

Like most American households, I grew up on Kraft's mac n' cheese. It wasn't the greatest... but it was simple and comforting. This past decade we see mac n' cheese growing more and more sophisticated on restaurant menus. Resulting in more creativity and popularity for this side dish. So it was only in due time that this dish would be the main attraction. Well imagine my delight when I found out about Jus' Mac. The items here won't blow you away in creativeness. It's not like something you and I have never concocted before (mac w/ taco meat or chili cheese). Their creativity lies on being the only one in Houston daring enough to make a restaurant out of it. As I walk in, I was kindly greeted from a girl behind the counter. Unlike some other yelpers.... I never received any rude service. My only criticism is for the food. I had a Homerun (elbow pasta, beef hot dog w/ Colby Jack) and my buddy had the Taco Mexi (elbow pasta, ground beef, tomatoes, onions, avocado and Colby Jack w/ chips). Both came out on a small skillet. No frills in presentation, but then again... it's a no frills menu. After my first bite, I thought it was good... like something thrown-together-at-home good. Flavorful and cheesy. The novelty quickly turned sour after halfway through the dish. Cheese became too heavy and there's no other flavors to cut its richness. Maybe if the had a spring mix w/ vinaigrette as an accompaniment, I could finish it. That's probably why mac n' cheese should remain a side item. read more

Overpriced. Small portions. Charged extra for take-out! The extra charge for take-out was salt in the mac. The place is so small, it currently is too crowded with the masses of trendy to find a place to sit. Which, by the way, was a problem for the parking, too. If you like playing bumper cars, you'll love this parking stamp. AT&T was non-functional, as well, so using my adult pacifier (iPhone) was useless - which just added to the aggravation. I love Mac 'n Cheese and I'm not afraid to admit it! Late again to the bandwagon for this place, but it does mac well and I can't complain about that. I took my niece here before a show at the theater, and we both indulged in creamy mac goodness. The fried mac balls were delish, with the side of marinara and I would love to know how they keep it so creamy on the inside??? My niece had the classic mac, while I had the Pit Master with brisket and barbecue sauce. I also topped mine with breadcrumbs, which definitely added the texture the dish need to balance all that cheese. I can see how this place is not an everyday eatery, but when you're craving mac n' cheese this is the place to be. The staff really never looked to please to be there, and the place is small so it's definitely not good for a group larger than 4. Today was my first time trying this place. Down the street from my office in the Heights. The service was great, the lady who took my order was really nice and helped me decide on what to eat (since it was my first time). I had the half baked potato, which had everything a bake potato would have on it plus mac and cheese....it's was really good. I definitely recommend this place. My daughter has been wanting to try this place for a long time, so we did today. The counter service left something to be desired. I was sushed with a finger by the cashier while he slowly thumped away on the computer screen over a ticket. He may have had to clear out this ticket or required actions in order to ring up the next sale. IDK. But not only was he not in a hurry, he paid not a care in the world the line piling up behind me. It was to the door by the time he stapled his two tickets together, put them down and permitted me to speak I guess I had traveled in from Kings Landing or Winterfell because I was clearly speaking in an accent or language he didnt understand. Was pretty sure my order would be wrong, but thankfully his Grace managed to get it right. I had The Hangover. The habanero sauce was pretty good, but I dont feel compelled to go back for it. My actual mac and cheese was very bland overall and Im not even sure what the cheese was. The Chicken and Waffles was pretty good. The waffle was perfect. The chicken looked almost burnt and I turned my nose up, but it actually was very crispy and moist. The maple syrup brought all the components together. The mac and cheese was good and you could taste the cheddar. We shared a house salad. The balsamic vinaigrette was fine and the salad was chopped perfectly. I do not typically enjoy iceberg lettuce because I always feel like its never torn/chopped small enough and I dont like the core of the lettuce. We drove from the Jersey Village area, I will give it one more try in the future, but IMO its not worth the specific trip from the NW side.. Im guessing it gets a little bit of a boost for being in an area known for its cool, hip and kitchy restaurants. If you put this in a strip mall on 249, I doubt it would get much attention. Like the name would seem to imply, Jus' Mac has some really good mac n' cheese. So, that being said, if you don't like mac n' cheese, this probably isn't the place for you. We stopped in on the way from Clear Lake to the Woodlands for an early Saturday dinner before a concert, and Jus' Mac definitely hit the spot. The parking lot is really small, so if it's crowded I could see parking being pretty difficult. Fortunately, we arrived around 5 PM, so it wasn't too bad. This is an order from the counter place, and there's a large board with all of your options and descriptions along the side wall. They have two sizes of mac n' cheese available - personal and regular. While the regular is probably a better deal, the personal portion was just the right amount (the regular would've been a little too much and would've been a waste of food). We also ordered house salads, and both the lemon dijon and homemade blue cheese dressings were really good. They also served the dressings on the side without us even asking, which I always like. The mac n' cheese was excellent - I got the buffalo chicken. The buffalo chicken had just the right amount of kick to it, and there was a decent amount of tender chicken in it. I also opted for the whole wheat pasta for a couple of bucks more, and was glad I did. I thought the extra heartiness of the whole wheat pasta helped the buffalo chicken dish out. The personal skillet was a nice touch, and the edges were nice and crispy. The interior of the restaurant was nice and clean, and the food came out quickly with good service. There was also a nice looking patio out back, but it was a little too hot to want to sit out there. They had a good selection of St. Arnold, Karbach, and other craft brews to drink in bottles and cans. One note if you plan to order alcohol: The restaurant is located in a dry neighborhood, so they have to swipe your driver's license and have you sign something in order to serve you. So, I'm a reallyyyyyy big fan of Mac-n-cheese so I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and when I finally did, I was pleasantly satisfied. I was recommended by a friend to get the buffalo chicken Mac and fried Mac balls. The buffalo chicken Mac is definitely tasty. The Mac balls were good and had a great crunchy exterior but I personally would have liked a little more flavor in the actual Mac-n-cheese of them. You can choose between two sizes of Mac-n-cheese entrees: personal and entree (I believe). I got the personal size and still thought it was quite a large portion. The only thing about this place that I was not too fond of is the location. Ambience was great and casual and their back patio seating area is great. I love mac and cheese, but I never thought there would be a restaurant devoted to it. However, despite the name, Jus' Mac is *not* JUST mac. They downplay it like their mac and cheese is nothing special, but you're in for a big surprise when you come here for their anything-but-ordinary mac and cheese. Just skim the menu and you'll find crazy mac and cheese flavors like Cheeseburger, Taco Mexi, Popeye, Buffalo Chicken, Pit Master, and much much more! They also give you different noodle options for the slightly more health-conscious people by offering low-carb whole wheat noodles, which didn't taste so different from the normal noodles. I got the regular-sized Buffalo Chicken mac and cheese (~$7) which had pan-seared chicken, bacon, and Franks Hot Sauce, all topped with blue cheese. I also asked for crispy bread crumbs at the top. Yummm, more carbs! The regular looked small, but it was enough to fill me up and send me into Eater's Remorse. You know how it is.... "Oh, God, why did I eat so much???" First, I love mac and cheese, so I was excited to hear that a place opened up that just serves this beloved comfort food. I showed up around 7 and the place was packed, but the crowdedness had to do more with the size of the place than the number of people. After all this place can only hold 55 people. Anyways, my friend and I waited around for other friends to show up and decided to get a couple of beers to pass the time. A big line was forming from the dinner rush to order in your mac n cheese at around 7:10PM. At 7:15 my other friends showed up and I turned around and the line disappeared. We were informed that they ran out of noodles!?!?!? Are you kidding me? A place that serves only mac and cheese runs out of noodles? Are these special noodles that can't be bought from a store down the street? I was shocked an appalled on this news. But, from what I can tell, the dishes did look appetizing, but small. If I were to sum up my childhood as a meal it would easily be Kraft Mac and Cheese (original) with a 1 bunless hot dog.....sliced. Then I went to Jus' Mac......and right there on the menu....was The Homerun........ Jus' Mac put a price on my childhood....just under $8! My parents were ROBBED! Yup, Jus' Mac serves hot dog mac and cheese......with a bread crumb topping. But I wasn't feeling like a kid on my first trip to the restaurant that serves Jus' Mac (and now paninis). I went with the Blue Cheese Mac instead, you know, because I'm an adult.....eating at my childhood fantasy....a mac and cheese restaurant. Confession: If mac and cheese is on a menu....I WILL get it. It doesn't matter where I am either. I got mac and cheese at a Jewish deli in Chicago...like an idiot.....because, I clearly have a problem. The sad part of all of this is, I am usually unimpressed with it. Restaurants all to often overcomplicate mac or even worse, make it soupy.....ew. Which is why it took me this long to go to Jus' Mac. I couldn't bare another disappointment. I approached a daunting menu of mac in EVERY variety barring durian fruit mac and cheese - but that would be weird. I wearily ordered my blue cheese mac at the counter and started making deals with G-d. "Please, please....don't let me down." 10 minutes later my party and I were severed with personal sized cast iron skillets (NICE TOUCH) filled to the brim with baked cheesy goodness (mine, topped with crunchy bread and blue cheese crumbles). And it was goooooooooooooooooooood. Real Good. It was just the way a mac and cheese-centic restaurant should serve their namesake.....RELIEF! Not too pungent, not too soupy......"jus' good". It would definitely hit the spot if you were hankering for the home-style variety. Notice I'm not overselling you....good is the perfect adjective for a place like Jus' Mac. Other good things: Environment: casual, but hip. Very Heightsy, minus Washington nightlife. Price: It's getting harder and harder to find a filling, tasty meal under $10, and that small skillet satisfies me just fine (no apps required). Drinks: Keepin' it local with St. Arnold's by the bottle. But if you are the owner......think about: Mini skillets or "halfsies". With SO many varieties of mac, am I seriously expected to choose just one? It can't be that hard to find a way to serve me 2 styles without having to buy 2 macs? Who's with me? Strangely my last review seems to have disappeared, probably with the other 63 reviews that have been filtered -- lord knows why that is?! The better half while pregnant wanted to try this out, and comfort food sounded great as did the concept. To say we were extremely let down by them would be a major understatement. First parking was a royal nightmare, but we managed to secure something in the back which of course is very dimly lit and dark - were I a lady I would be very uncomfortable parking my car back there without an escort. Next the food took nearly forever to be delivered to us, and this was a take out order. Now on to the underwhelming food, fried macaroni and cheese balls sounded great until we ate one and noticed not only was it cold, it was soggy and greasy and worse the grease tasted like it was months old nearing rancid -- disgusting. Next up our macaroni, we got the one with broccoli, which I thought would be boring, but it was what she really wanted. And low and behold, it was bland beyond comprehension seriously flavor where are you? Sorry putting panko on top of bland macaroni, with a very paltry amount of overcooked broccoli does not make for a successful restaurant. This was a one and done, we won't be back, and unless you like food even more bland than your average geriatric cafeteria chow then you should steer clear of this. So I FINALLY got to eat here. I tried coming here when the hype was really big back in the fall of 2010. Back then, they kept on running out of noodles or something else was going on that kept on preventing me from eating here. After awhile, I forgot about this restaurant until this weekend, when I had a craving for some mac & cheese. Lets just say my craving was not quite satisfied. I ordered the Bacon Bliss and had a couple of bites from the Rustic Mac&Cheese. The BB was delicious without a doubt, but as you try to work your way through that deceivingly small skillet, the saltiness from the bacon & cheese takes over and you end up drinking water til you're full. The rustic in my opinion tasted better than the bacon bliss, but I wasn't about to devour my gf's plate w/out her permission. The rustic had basil, tomatoes and other herbs in it, making it more flavorful and eatable in large amounts. I love the idea of mac&cheese prepared with gourmet ideas. The problems I see with Jus Mac are: 1) Too overpriced and 2) To have someone eat a dish of only mac&cheese is asking a lot of them. The cheese is very rich, which is great, but unless you're an avid mac&cheese lover, you're not going to finish the dish. Jump 2 hours later and you'll be hungry again. I could have finished my bacon bliss on the spot, but I honestly didn't want to because after eating half of it, I had had enough. I kinda wished they offered some sort of "pick 3 or pick 4" choice and they'd put 4 different mac flavors into that skillet of theirs. Okay, I will admit that this review has been a long time coming. But after visiting a different new establishment during its first week of operation and having a completely different experience, I found it necessary to impart my knowledge about the shoddy service at Jus' Mac. My husband and I visited Jus' Mac during their first week of business...in fact, I think it was their first night. Prepared to brave the long line and long wait, we ventured over to Jus' Mac for dinner. Upon arriving, we quickly realized that the restaurant was filled to capacity (unless we wanted to sit on the floor), so we decided to get our food to go. So here's the thing. I'm not going to wax on and on about the lack of originality or intriguing ingredients in their recipes. I'm not even going to complain about their over-priced macaroni with a basic bechamel sauce and various other ingredients haphazardly thrown into a mini cast iron skillet and browned in a salamander. For all of those faults, I think would have been bearable if it weren't for the obnoxiously rude attitude of the young woman behind the register. Without getting into the gory details, let's just say I hope you never have any questions about annnnnnnnnnnny of the ingredients of the food, OR the preparation OR, God forbid, have any requests for substitutions (Gasp!). Because let me tell you, questions are not allowed. This rude cashier acted as if we were doing her a huge disservice by asking a couple of simple questions about the food and our options. Um...it's your first night. Sorry we didn't have a chance to memorize your chalkboard menu in the 20 minutes we waited to place our order. But we didn't...and last time I checked, it was your job to know the menu and field questions. I am fairly certain that our dining experience was ruined for us long before we even received our food after waiting AN HOUR to receive it. If I wanted a meal served up with a side of attitude, I would have slaved over it in the kitchen myself. Alas, the macaroni and cheese was nothing special and definitely not enough for cause to return for more abuse. The cashier's attitude was so bad that I felt the need to call and speak with the manager the next morning. For all of my efforts, I got a lukewarm "Sorry about that. We hope you'll give us another try when it's not our opening night." Yeah...no thanks. I'm pretty sure your cashier's attitude had nothing to do with it being opening night. A non-event really. The Mac is boxish- meaning the noodles tasted like my own back home and cheese tasted like an amalgamation of Cheese Wiz and Velveeta. I had the Buffalo Chicken dish and it was cool- Frank's Hot Sauce and chicken (not brain surgery and something I should have made at home for a lot less- damn labor costs). Nothin mind blowing. My husband and I decided to go to something different and easy in the Heights Hood. He suggested Jus' Mac.... We looked over the menu of many mac chooses. While in line I notice that the server taking the order was snappy to the couple in front of us. When it is our turn, I asked if the special is on the mac cast iron or...(before asking if it was a panini) he interrupts and says of course it is mac. I then ask him if he is okay, because he does not seem in a good mood. He said he was fine, then says he is mad at someone in the back not doing their job (sorry buddy do yours...). After watching people around us get their food I was wondering when it might be our turn. We get our mac and it is yummy. Jus' when I thought my luck was turning around..... I bite into my mac and to my surprise there is a piece of plastic a little smaller then a dime. I take the plastic to my buddy up front and he picked it up (yuck) and examined it. While this was happening I was hoping that he would wash his hand right after, but it seemed he had not washed them in a while (dirt under nails). After the examination, he said okay...I will let the kitchen know. Puzzled I walked away. No, let's remake your meal so you can enjoy it or even sorry. But a few seconds later, he did give us cake and a sorry. No Jus' Mac Me Happy in this case.... read more

Not as good as it used to be. Menu has changed (downsized). They skimp on the cheese and bread crumbs. At one point I was raving about this place but now I wouldn't recommend it. Also, they only serve a one size fits all skillet now. The changes aren't for the better. If you're a mac n cheese place don't skimp on the cheesy factor. Bring back the old jus' Mac! read more

Although the concept was intrigueing I might say that this was definitely a try and not sure if I would really go back again type of place. The idea that you can have a restaurant only serve pretty much mac & cheese is definitely interesting but I think it fails on the fact that you would really only want to have mac & cheese when you go there since the menu is pretty small and half of what is on the menu is out by the time you get to dinner. The place is counter service which seems to be the major trend here in Houston. When you see the menu there are definitely items that jump and appeal to you but the chances of it being sold out at lunch is more then likely. It is a pretty small place which is really not a major downfall but the parking is definitely limited for the amount of people they get there. The portion was pretty small for the price on mac & cheese. Then again you may not want that much since it is so rich anyways of cheese. I've always loved the food here. I've been many times over the past few years and have never had a complaint. Every Mac has been fantastic. Except one. My last visit was incredibly frustrating, since my girlfriend ordered her meal, asked for the Hangover (a spicy Mac) with a couple additions and the habanero sauce on the side. A personal size. The young girl up front at the register apparently charged me for a regular because of the additions without telling me, and included the habanero sauce with it, making it nearly inedible for my girlfriend. When I brought it up (trying to be as polite as possible), the register girl insisted she didn't hear it and that if there were any problem, it would be marked as her fault, which it was, since I had clearly heard the order myself. This is the kicker, though. The girl, upon having been corrected by the waitress, turned around, and instructed the cook about the issue, and basically made us look like idiots who had no idea what we were doing. Actual exchange with the cook: Girl: "APPARENTLY she ordered 'the personal one' *scoff* with habanero on the side!" *irritated, mocking laugh* Cook: "Seriously? What the hell? Hahaha. It says-..." Both: "VERY SPICY ON THE MENU. Pffftthahahaha." Followed by them apparently mocking us like we were idiots who didn't know what we were doing. It was really frustrating to feel like me correcting my order from something THEY messed up makes me look irrational and stupid. The waitress was incredibly understanding, corrected my receipt, and gave me a cookie as an apology, which I surely appreciated. She was great, and saved a few stars from me. I don't think I'll be going again any time soon, though, because of how rudely I was treated by the other staff. Pretty bummed about that, to be honest. read more

We went for dinner a few months ago with our infant, 30 minutes before closing time. The female waitress was extremely eager to leave and made it very clear we were cramping her schedule. She repeatedly slugged the heavy chairs around to sweep under them, including the chairs directly next to us. After the noise became so loud with a newborn sleeping and us attempting to have dinner conversation, I asked her to please wait a few minutes as the acoustics were so loud. That was not a welcomed request. She then locked the front door. When we tried to leave minutes after that, they would not unlock the door for us to leave. When we had to ask how would we get out, we were told we could cut through the back. We did...and she followed us out making comments about me being single as my husband and my newborn and I exited. We couldn't leave fast enough. I meant to write this immediately after the visit, but I was sidetracked with being a new mom. I will never return. The management should know about their staff as this is unacceptable treatment and behavior and was ultimately scary. To top it off, the food was blah. read more

Not for me. Really? Okay, flavor, meh, it is Mac and cheese. The name says it all, because if you order meat, I ordered brisket, you get pieces that are half the size of a golf pencil. Get a box, grate some Parmesan on it, and you have better. There needs to be categories of eaters. Those who think the Olive Garden is real and good Italian, and foodies, people who enjoy real food. They charge $.25 cents for a small plastic cup of tap water. Go spend $25 on a real meal, real food! $25 was the cost for two to eat Mac and cheese. Strange part, the handicap parking, that I think is waaaay abused, is there to meet the law, but it is fenced in to prevent use of it. read more

Soooooo, in a nutshell, I liked the salad better than the mac. I got the Big Blu and hub got the taco. Both were nice and creamy. Neither was very flavorful. Whaa! I wanted to get yummy creamy blu cheesiness. I got OK creamy....creaminess. The taco was rather non-taco, just mostly creamy. They got the creamy down, not so much the flavor. Now I will say that hub and I like to whacked up side the head with flavor, so we may be a little out of the ordinary, who knows. The salad was nice with romaine and iceberg lettuce, fine dice tomatoes, cucumbers, and red oninons. The blue cheese dressing was good too. The size is large, which it should be for 5.75. The people working there were nice. They were enthusiastic about their place. The funky vibe is awesome and the landscaping was nice. It's serve yourself on drinks after you order at the counter, so it's not "classy" or a place you want to take your date to impress her. It does have an awesome counterweight light fixture over the counter. A fave of mine. Anyway, it's OK. I think that the value for the money is kind of low. I like the concept, but the final product is just meh.. We split the Quattro which had a "special four cheese mix" but some how the only flavor that came through was a simple white cheddar.. The pasta was cooked well, but I'd like to see something homemade and more interesting for the 8 dollar price point rather than just dried elbow macaroni.. I like the options of adding chicken to any mac & cheese, but I don't think I could make a meal out of such a heavy dish.. Also, the bread that comes with the mac should be toasted IMO which would help give some much needed texture to an already soft dish.. The cast iron skillet is a nice touch to serve/cook the macaroni in and the overall look and feel of the restaurant was impressive... Just Mac seems local and the mold could lend itself well to being franchised, but the food needs some tweaking IMO.. read more

Honestly, I was disappointed. The sandwiches and more than half the menu were not available, and quite frankly, the food was not that good. My leading lady liked her Chicken Parmesan macaroni, but my nachos were not good at all. I will try the other location at midtown. I try to be forgiving, so let's see what happens. read more

Nothing better than a personal cast iron skillet of mac n' cheese. This place is a unique stop in Houston and if you are a lactose intolerant this place this place might be worth ruining the rest of your day over. The Yale St. stop is small and parking is almost non-existent; expect to park across the street and be careful crossing because cars are flying. We got some salads which were really fresh and a nice precursor to crashing my diet on cheese. We also shared the Fried Mac Balls because what goes better with mac n' cheese than fried mac n' cheese. For my entree I tried the goat cheese. I know some people aren't a fan but I love it and if you are like me this is the way to go. Goat cheese sauce with macaroni, tomatoe, and more goat cheese crumbled on top. It was sooo good. I've also had the buffalo chicken and was equally impressed. I haven't worked up the nerve to try the bleu cheese mac but I'd be really curious what others think of it. Maybe next time! The pans look really small, especially if you get the personal instead of the regular but with a salad as well, I've never left hungry. read more

The woman taking my order on 1/30/22 was extremely rude and very short to my girlfriend and I. She said she "couldn't understand" me because of my mask but everyone else in the establishment could hear me just fine because I was speaking loudly and clearly. She just wasn't listening and it's clear other people have had the same experience. Then she got mad because HER system wasn't working. There was a lot of hype of this place. As fan of S'Mac in NYC I had great expectations for a place that served just Mac and Cheese. As a new place, I always order the first 'vanilla' item on the menu to get a feel for the quality of the food. I was satisfied with the 'All-American'. I went with some friends and also got to try a chili one, a chicken one, and a bacon one. They were all delicious, with my favorite of the four being the chili one. It was like mixing mac and cheese with frito pie. The price was a bit high, but the crowd spoke for itself. If you can charge that much and still fill up the place, you're doing something right. The parking lot was terrible, but the building was nice and clean. They also played very hip alternative music, though it was a bit loud. Overall a good experience. If it were cheaper, I probably would have given it five stars. read more

Loved the 3 different dishes we got, ponchovilla, buffalo chicken, and Pit master. Clean place, easy ordering. Also has beer choices. The large is pretty big and the smalls look small but think it would have been the right size if that was all I ate with maybe a salad. I would recommend and go back. read more
