My daughter's bf referred this little hole in the wall gem to my husband and I. This is a AYCE sushi place. We paid $74 for 2 dinner buffets. The restaurant is small with I believe 6 booths. One wall had a mural of fishes on it and mirrors on the other wall. Our server was a young man and was very nice. He was taking care of all the tables and was very busy. It was a full house! We ordered fried calamari, mixed vegetable tempura, cream cheese wontons, fried shrimp for our appetizers. All tasted very good. I love the light batter on the tempura and it wasn't so oily like it is at some other restaurant. My husband loved the fried shrimp and calamari. We ordered the Green Dragon, California, Hawaiian, Hurricane, Flame, Spider, and Tiger rolls. Everything tasted so good. I was surprised how big the rolls were. The rolls were full of so much flavor and the ingredients of the rolls were so fresh. We will definitely be back! Don't skip on this little place. read more

Very interesting hole-in-wall spot in Downtown Davis. Didn't get the AYCE but it looks like a really good deal! The food was satisfactory and reflected the price. They offer a discount if you pay in cash too. Good spot for a night out with friends on a budget. Food 4/5 : The Katsu Curry was very delicious and a ridiculously large portion for just $14! Didn't get to try much sushi or raw fish. Service: Don't feel like I can give a fair rating because most small-scale Asian restaurants like these have a different service culture than the typical "American" restaurant. No complaints. They were respectful. Ambiance 2/5: It's a pretty run-down restaurant. It's a very cramped and narrow building with tattered seats. Chairs were stacked up in the middle of the eating area. Had dinner here with my sister recently and was really impressed. She recommended it, I've never heard of it before. It's a smaller restaurant that's open pretty late. The service was good, very welcoming. We started with calamari. I liked it, she gets it every time she comes. I've been a longtime Jusco fan. My friend and I always go here for affordable sushi and it's always just what you expect - a kind of mid sushi experience. You get what you pay for! Service varies. A lot of the time we get the young man up front to take our number and we sit outside and wait for the food to be ready. Workers are always friendly, but on occasion have brought us the wrong order, called the wrong number, or forgotten to call us altogether. Still, it's all minor issues, and we always come back. It's been a while since I ate in, but every time, I am struck by the inside of the restaurant. It's a little dark and the mural always surprises me. I've been here a couple times and tried four different rolls. I would say overall their non-raw sushi is way better than the raw stuff. The rice doesn't have a strong sushi vinegar flavor but the texture of the grains or rice actually is not bad. Panda: B+ I actually enjoyed this roll a lot. Cream cheese is not for everyone but when it's deep fried, how can you not like it! The spicy tuna, unagi, and avocado are a good combination. Captain crunch: B+ Love the texture of this one with the shrimp tempura + tempura flake. This one I would actually order again. American: D Wouldn't recommend this roll. It sounded interesting because it has 5 different seafood proteins, but they're all quite bland. Tasted like there was no marinade, salt, or wasabi to season it. A small hole in the wall restaurant with dilapidated booths. Our party of 4 walked in on a Sunday around 7:30 pm, and we were seated immediately. Free street parking was easy in the area. Everyone ordered the AYCE sushi buffet. It was around $34.50 per person, which was affordable considering how much we ate. We didn't have to wait long between orders either. APPETIZERS ORDERED - Edamame. We got a small plate to share. I liked how the outside of the pod was salted. - Wonton Soup. The pork and shrimp wontons were meh, but the light clear broth was good. It wasn't too oily. - Shrimp Tempura. Extremely crispy, but tasted average. The batter was thick and kind of dense. I couldn't really taste anything, but at least the shrimp wasn't mealy. NIGIRI ORDERED The rice was good: chewy, a little warm, a little sour from the vinegar, and not too sweet. They also gave more fish than rice. Each slice was thicker than typical for nigiri. Personally, I prefer thinner slices of fish. - Salmon. It was the freshest fish that night, fatty and tasty. - Seared Salmon. This was also good. The warm temp brought out a small amount of "fishiness" in my opinion. It was served with eel sauce, mayo, sesame seed, and roe. - Unagi. It was fatty and soft. The flavor was good, but I would have preferred the eel more cooked. - Tilapia. I tried it because I was curious, but the texture wasn't my favorite. I liked the sweeter flavor of the fish, but not the crunchy texture with stripes of sinew. - White Albacore (I think). It was alright. The taste was good, but the texture was slightly mealy. - Yellowtail. The texture was good, but the taste was a bit fishy. ROLLS ORDERED - Samurai Roll. Visited on Sunday, Nov. 2nd 2025 for lunch. AYCE price was $32.99 per person. The quality of the fish was really good for the price, they were a bit cold still, but overall still good. Appetizers came out hot and flavorful. Their restroom was part of the neighboring bar. Service was efficient & attentive despite only having one server, every table (around 6 in total) was full. Was able to get in around 5 rounds in 2 hours (12:15pm-2:00pm). It seems like there's also only one chef preparing the sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, but the food still came out in a timely manner! read more

I love how they give small portions (3-4 piece rolls) so you can try a bit of everything and nothing goes to waste. Honestly best sushi place ever. Its incredibly affordable for the all you can eat, the food has never once been cooked wrong, the boy who does the service is always on top of it and will graciously bring us disgusting amounts of water because my friend is a fish. Been going here for about 4 years now. Oh and the fried calamari is so far the best ive had in my life. I'm pleasantly surprised! The bento box is only $15.50 and the fish is actually pretty fresh here. And BIG slices too. No fishy smell or pre-frozen texture. I also REALLY liked the salad! The vinaigrette was light and coated the greens throughout. Overall, it just seems like a lot of care was put into this meal. Gyoza tastes homemade and if it's not, it's got me fooled. The rolls were delicious and huge! We ordered the monkey, cherry blossom, kitty and the sushi combo (spicy crunch and Captain crunch). We expected the rolls to be standard size but the rolls were rolled pretty big, I couldn't fit the roll in my mouth! The service.. we're never asked if we wanted to order drinks but we were served water almost immediately after we were seated. Otherwise, the staff were very friendly. When we needed their attention if it was easy to receive service. The restaurant is small, only having a few booths. We almost missed their front door, hard to see unless you're actively looking for the restaurant. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because they ended their all you can eat buffet 30 min early and that's the reason we decided on this restaurant. I came for all you can eat sushi with some friends and we had a very mediocre experience. The best part was probably the nigiri, which had a very generous fish to rice ratio. Unfortunately, the sushi rolls we ordered were lacking quality, as the fish was overshadowed by tons of sauce and other ingredients. The quality of the fish was nothing special, but at $34 that wasn't surprising. The ambience was lacking, as there were boxes piled all over creating a cluttered environment. The food here is really great quality. I love getting the All You Can Eat Buffet. It's pricey, but it's worth it.

Though the interior and seating is small, our party of 5 was able to be seated right away around 8pm on a Tuesday night. The waiter was to the point and all the food came out really fast. The quality of all the fish was excellent and we also really enjoyed the veggie tempura. I've been to Jusco many times in the past (even as far back as my time in college here in 2012) and they used to be great. Most recent visit showed this place really went downhill. Came here recently on a Friday night. A lot of empty tables, but was told there was a waitlist, placed ourselves on it. They informed us they couldn't guarantee seating past 8:45pm as they had new people working too, and that's why they weren't seating all the tables. They took our phone number down. They made one phone call at 8:25pm and I missed it. I called back at 8:28pm to say we were coming, they did not pick up. I was outside of the building, so I walked in at 8:30pm. Smug kid at the counter said he could no longer seat us, as he seated other people who were waiting (way after us) since we missed the call. I said we missed it by 5 minutes- you're really not gonna seat us? I'd skip this place, as it's clear the quality of the restaurant and service is complete poor now. The seats are torn up and in disarray, and the restaurant itself is in sore need of a renovation. Not to mention the service is beyond poor at the counter, and the attitude of the people working there isn't something worth paying for. read more

This hole in the wall restaurant is a Davis Gem. I serendipitously came across this restaurant while downtown next to Red 88 Noodle Bar and Wonderbar. Their AYCE sushi is definitely worth the $27.99. They also have take out and a regular dine in menu. Their fish is so good and fresh. Their nigiri had a great fish to rice ratio that I haven't experienced with other restaurants. Their rolls were also exceptional. I ordered 9 different rolls (each roll has about 4-5 pieces) and they were all delicious. I've eaten here prior to this time once and it was for takeout so for my first time coming in I was pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing! I always thought the hidden sushi spots were the best and this place definitely lives up to that standard! The appetizers were delicious and so were each rolls.
