I just have to leave this super positive review for you guys. You're seriously amazing. I love your sushi. It's honestly the first place that comes to mind when I think about sushi, no question. And just to put it in perspective, I literally drive here all the way from Sacramento. What can I say about the sushi? It's absolutely incredible. Today I tried a new spicy shrimp roll. I don't exactly remember the name, but wow, it was so good. Overall, your sushi is just 10/10. I also noticed you've added drinks since the last time I was here. It's been a while, so I didn't know about that, but I love it. I'm really into drinks like that. And they look just as perfect in real life as they do in pictures. Another 10/10. The only small thing I'd maybe suggest is working a little bit on the interior. But honestly, the atmosphere is still great. It really gives that cozy, homey vibe with a nice touch of Asian culture. I've been coming here since back when Davis Sushi & Fusion was in downtown Davis, and I'm genuinely so happy to see you growing. Your menu is much bigger now, and that's really cool to see. While stopping in Davis, we decided to stop at the Anti Mondays pop up inside Davis Sushi & Fushion. It was super crowded and hot inside. We ordered on the kiosk. We ordered the Banana Pudding Matcha & Banana Pudding Vietnamese Coffee. After approx. about 20 minutes to get our drinks. Both drinks were served with scoops of banana pudding on top. They had the perfect lids. They were open so you could spoon the banana pudding or use a straw. My daughter absolutely LOVED her matcha. Unfortunately I found my Vietnamese coffee a little underwhelming. The coffee wasn't the usual strong, full of flavor Vietnamese coffee is used to but the banana pudding was delish. read more

I actually ended up here by accident while looking for a different restaurant. Stopping here on my way to Lake Tahoe wasn't my best move, starting with the fact that what I wanted to order wasn't available. That said, once the food actually arrived, I have to give credit where it's due: the dishes were genuinely delicious and the portions were surprisingly generous. One suggestion: less sugar in the sushi rice. Also, I had a clump of rice that was a bit hard, so it needs to be cooked better. I almost felt like some of the rice was from the night before, so please DO NOT use overnight rice. With that said, it's hard to stomach a good meal when the hospitality is this off-putting. The bathroom was conveniently 'broken,' blocked off by a folding screen and piled high with extra inventory. It's hard to miss the obvious connection when a restroom is barricaded behind boxes and supplies--it's pretty transparent that they just don't want customers using it. Treating basic customer amenities like an inconvenience makes it feel like they're actively trying to drive people away. read more

A small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant that specializes in takeout sushi options. I opted to dine in and order the Chicken Katsu-don, costing me $16.99. The dish is made up of the curry, a fried, chicken cutlet, and a bed of white rice. While there was nothing necessarily wrong with the quality of my dish, nothing in particular made it stand out. The curry wasn't exactly too flavorful, but the chicken cutlet was breaded quite well. For its price point, I expected either a larger portion size or better quality of food, as you could find better quality chicken katsu curry at a similar, or even cheaper price point within Davis. It took around 15-20 minutes for my dish to come out, although the service was friendly throughout my entire visit. The greatest highlight of my experience were the desserts/drinks that are created on a daily basis, in-house. The strawberry matcha was quite overpowering, as you could taste more of the strawberry bits as opposed to the matcha. The vietnamese coffee was extremely delicious, as it was sweet, yet not overbearing! The real star of the show was the banana pudding, at a perfect balance of sweetness, consistency, and price! I got two rolls this evening for takeout. They were reasonably priced with the Uber one discount. I had the jalapeño roll to start. It had a good amount of spice, but I don't feel like it was adding spice just to be spicy. it had nice presentation as well. I also got the lion King roll. I love a roll with a baked salmon on top. They have options for milk alternatives (almond, oat) as well which are $1 extra. I also wanted to order sushi but I could hear the line picking up behind me and only noticed matcha and desserts available to order on the kiosk. Chirashi bowl was huge and had some sweet pickled things in there but was very pleasant overall. Came with a sweet sesame oil which was unique. Nigiri pieces were satisfying as well, nothing to complain about. However, my mom and I immediately tasted a bit of funkiness in the galbi + apparently last time my family came here it was burnt, but we were refunded for it this time. I have never had galbi meat that tasted off/had a strange aftertaste so it worried me. The biggest issue was that even though the restaurant was empty, we ordered around 1:15 and our food came at 1:50. It didn't come all at once either, we got the last item at 2:00. So in between we were starved and just splitting everything. There were like two people serving and making the food (we watched 4-5 Doordash orders come in while we were there too), so they were definitely maxed out. I don't want to trash this place at all, the people here were extremely nice and hardworking and I want them to have good business. I just wish they had more hands. This spot just opened a week ago and serves sushi and Japanese noodles & rice dishes. It's currently open for take out orders, and I'm not sure when dining in will be an option. It's not too busy and not fully staffed yet. The parking lot has plenty of spots on a Friday evening, so no need to worry about finding parking. My partner and I ordered a dragon roll and a lion king roll (baked salmon with crab meat). The dragon roll is similar to what you typically get elsewhere, so it was good; the chipotle mayo sauce on top was new for us. The lion king roll was disappointing because it wasn't baked well. We ate it right after getting our order and the roll wasn't even lukewarm. The center of the roll is only filled with crab meat, and the salmon was oddly dry. The sushi here is delicious probably the best sushi I've had in Davis. It's definitely not a Mikuni's (atmosphere). It's a small restaurant in a small strip mall sort of a hidden gem with a few people working nothing fancy. But the sushi is great and is bigger than most other places. It's a good size space and there are several tables, so I don't get where there would be just two menus. The sushi rice has too much vinegar. The rolls are huge and filling which sorta explains the high price, but the quality of the rolls was pretty average. We had to get our own utensils, got paper towel from the bathroom to wipe the table, and never got a chance to even ask for a water refill or if we wanted to order more because the server never came out to check on us. So maybe all the good reviews on here are about takeout, cuz there's really not many options on this side of town. But to say it's anything more than basic is wild. The inside of the restaurant is just a bunch of tables around the center of the restaurant. It doesn't look fully setup, but they're fairly new to West Davis.
