A tour of various escape rooms on Long Island has led me to this conclusion: my experience at Just Escape in Massapequa was definitely the best. The waiting area is sleek, chic, clean, and comfortable. Also, it wasn't atrociously crowded when I was there. It's awful standing in a waiting room while people--who have just finished their own adventures--are loudly discussing the rooms--in other words, the waiting rooms of escape rooms lend themselves to spoilers. That was not the case here; the movement of players into and out of rooms was mellifluous. We were also promptly greeted, and all the staff members with whom we interacted were helpful and friendly. The experience didn't begin when we entered the room; it started earlier. Our docent to the room of Prey--I believe his name is Nick--was a phenomenal character. I don't want to accidentally divulge any information about the room itself, but I will say that it is well-crafted and reasonable in which to work. It was rather toasty in there, which didn't really bother me; however, be aware of it. Don't wrap yourself in sweaters and boots before going. (P.S. We escaped!) I'll definitely be back, but I think it would be a great idea to open a second location in Elmont. =) read more

This was my first escape room experience and it was fantastic and so fun!!! We were a group of 5 and did the Pirates of the Dark Sea Room. The difficulty level of 4 stars is accurate and definitely took all of us thinking together to get through the room plus the use of the clues we were granted. I have only done one other escape room before my visit to Just Escape and this was, by a long shot, the better one. The staff were super friendly, inviting, professional, and offered a group rate when we called ahead. It was easier to call rather than each person scheduling themselves online. So I couldn't get enough of my new favorite activity to do and went back here the next day. This time I went and did the pirates of the dark sea room with four of my family members. It was so much more thinking involved in this room then sweet revenge but both were a challenge in itself. This was a pretty cool room with how it was set up. Nice little surprises to make it fun. I had Alyssa as my gamemaster and she was awesome. Probably got a kick out of us panicking when the clock was ticking down. Didnt win this room but was almost there. ill definitely return. I've done 2 Escape rooms here, great local attraction for the town. Escape rooms are immersive and cleverly Designed! I recommend this place and will be back to do at least 2 other adventures. Took my kids here to get out of the house after restrictions loosened up. What a fantastic way to have fun yet still feel safe. The rooms are all clean and it's only YOUR party in the room no one else may book at the same time . The staff was attentive, the place was clean, the social distancing was fantastic- it made for a very comfortable phenomenal family fun day which was so needed! Let me preface this by stating that my review is based solely on MY experience and not on the experience of others in my group. My 3 friends and I did the room "Prey," which is Just Escape's horror-themed room. The room decor was awesome and really made you feel as if you were kidnapped and locked in someones unfinished basement set up for torture. Upon entering, you are shackled to a prop in the room. In my case, I was handcuffed. First of all - the live actor that handcuffed me placed the handcuffs on WAY too tight. I even mentioned this to him before he left the room, yet he did nothing to fix the issue. I was literally handcuffed to this prop for over 30 minutes, unable to help my team in any way. Because of the way the room is set up, my friends were all loose and playing the game, while I sat there helpless, watching them play, just waiting for the moment they found my handcuff key to let me free. Finally, they retrieved the key to open the handcuffs. I was so excited to finally get into the action! I found a key hidden in the room that helped my team unlock something.. and then.. "YOU HAVE SURVIVED". Wait, what? That's it? I literally contributed to one part of the game, and then it was over. I "played" for maybe 45 seconds? This was the worst experience I have ever had in an escape room. Frustrating to say the least. I couldn't even tell you how the puzzles were, because I was locked in a corner the entire time. I will say this though: my friends said that there were one or two puzzles to figure out, and mostly only keys to open boxes. Guess I didn't miss much.. This experience has left me with two things: a lighter wallet, and bruises on my wrist. What a waste of $30.... read more

I did an escape room here saturday night with two friends. the room was the pirates of the sea. SO cool and SO much fun. I have done about 7 escape rooms throughout brooklyn, manhattan and nassau. this room was definitely one of the best. the room master was very helpful and the enitre staff was friendly. i definitely will be returning for their "prey" room!! very cool place, i would highly recommend it! read more

My son had his 10th birthday here yesterday. He had an amazing time. My son has special needs as do most of his friends that attended and their 1 on 1 party host (Ryan I believe was his name) was amazing. He engaged the kids 100%, he encouraged them and helped them navigate both rooms and empowered them to conquer 2 hours of clues and secrets to exit their last room "sweet revenge". They all had a blast. They received candy cups with their names on it and popcorn from the carnival room. Just a warning- if any kids have peanut allergies, make sure you are aware that some candy contains nuts. Ryan was amazing at assisting the kids with allergies choose the safest candy. One woman who worked their was very rude, but I already expressed my disappointment about that, and I don't want that to take away from how fabulous Ryan was and how much fun all the kids had. I was thinking of fun things to do with my family of 5 for the evening and thought of this place after having heard about it a few times. I went to the website and looked at all the rooms wanting to pick a fun room rather than a scary room since we were coming with 3 children (ages 13, 11 & 7) At around 6 pm I booked the Sweet Revenge Room for the same day at 7:20. We got there around 6:55 because they recommend getting there about 20 mins early. We filled out the waivers and waited in the waiting area. Alyssa came and got us around 7:15. She brought us to our room which looked like a candy store. Candy on the shelves, candy on the walls and locked cabinets and furniture everywhere. She explained all the rules to us, we watched a brief video and then she gave us the purpose of our room which was that Dr. Dylan has the recipe for eternal youth, he has left his candy store for 1 hour and we have to find the secret recipe before he comes back. You can shout for 3 clues during your 60 minutes there and the clues will pop up on the screen in the room. We finished with just under 2 minutes to spare. We had such a blast! We were running around the room putting the clues together, cracking codes and finally screaming in victory when we completed the challenge and found Dr. Dylan's recipe! What a unique, fun family activity. We can't wait to come back and try another. read more

Loved this escape room! My group did The Illusionist. The room was VERY well decorated and was an impressive set up. The clues were really clever and creative, we had a lot of fun! Also, FANTASTIC customer service from Mariel and another staff member (didn't catch her name). I've been to so many Escape Rooms it would take too much effort to try to recount exactly how many. That being said, I've been to Just Escape two times now. I did Prey first and escaped with less a little under 4 minutes. Just recently did Pirates of the Dark Sea, and we escaped with less than 1 minute left. Out of all the different escape rooms I've done, Just Escape ranks pretty well among them. They have clean, well designed and high quality rooms. Both rooms I did had great props and challenging puzzles to solve. They were challenging and entertaining and managed to not be boring even for someone like me who is experienced with these. They put a lot of effort into their rooms and the themes. I definitely recommend this. If you want a scary escape room, then Prey is a great choice. read more

JustEscapeLI is an amazingly fun experience. My friends and I have already been there 3 times. The 3rd time we even did a back-to-back experience in one visit. Signing in is quick and easy, and then you and your group are whisked away to your designated escape situation. Our Game Master Nick is very nice and knowledgeable. The key to all escape rooms is TEAMWORK! Everyone has to pull their weight in order to get out in time. My friends and I have already done "Prey", "Tryals", "Sweet Revenge" and "Underworld". I definitely recommend trying an escape experience. Most rooms take up to 12 people, though you can certainly get away with just 4. read more

Been to Just Escape twice now and both times were a lot of fun. The first time I came with my office and we did "The Illusionist". It was challenging but not terrible. You really have to look for the clues, they're well hidden and well thought out. The second time I went was for a friend's birthday and we did "Prey" which is their hardest one. It was definitely challenging! The clues are a lot more difficult with that one and it's very dark in the 2 rooms. You're allowed 3 clues throughout the hour you're in there and they put them up on a screen for you which is cool. I had a lot of fun both times and will definitely be back. It's a great way to do team building or just have an hour of fun with friends. I hear the Pirate one is really good so that's next on my list! read more

We went with a group of nine friends this week. Many of us have participated in this type of entertainment in the past...a few of us have actually been to 10+ escape rooms around Long Island. They put you into a small room (with very little instruction) and the game begins. I have to say, many of us could not wait to leave. It was just soooo boring and underwhelming. The puzzles and props were so low rent. The staff was friendly but overall disorganized. We spoke some other groups in the lobby afterwards, and everyone else seemed to agree - not worth the money.
