CHOOFI TURKEY TAIL and beef suya
    Mary E.

This place was so cute! Very chic inside beautiful black energy, and also classy casual. Their food was so good. I can't express the flavors. The egusi soup and fufu both filling, their drinks amazing, beef suya was one of the most flavorful and tender beef dishes I have tried. The puff puffs and the choofi turkey tail are the only things I was not a fan of and would not order it again. Would return here again.

Wow, I love it when I find a place where the food is fresh AND pleasing to the palate. The decor is beautiful and comfortable. The service was great--Jevaughn was so kind and attentive. For starters we were served bread with the option of butter. This was my first time here, I tried the grilled chicken and coconut rice with a side of sweet plantains. It also came with a small sample of a potato salad which I gave to my companion (since it had dairy which I am allergic to). My companion had the beef stew with FuFu. The chicken was fall off the bone tender, what I loved the most was that even deep in the meat there was a lot of flavor. The coconut rice was soft and fluffy, it paired well with the chicken. My companion loved the beef stew and fufu. For drinks we had the Alvaro Pear Cocktail and Mama Homemade Cocktail which was Ginger beer mixed with Sorrel Hibiscus. Loved the non alcohol drink offerings! Can't wait to go back to try other soups, stews and sides.

The food is absolutely mind blowing super fresh and tasty! The service is super sweet and informative very quick with the food ( our order ended up being Togo last min and they were super accommodating). The ambiance was beautiful super classy and quite great place for kids and family.

I was in the Middletown area and decided to check this place out since I had seen it on Facebook. I was pleasantly surprised to see it's a nice sit down restaurant with beautiful ambience. The waiters behind the bars were so friendly. I got into a friendly banter arguing about Nigerian vs Ghanaian jollof. I got the beef suya, jollof rice and puff puff. It was really good! I wish the suya was cut into little bits but it was still delicious tho. Anyways I will be back with my family to try other part of the menu. By the way they have a kids menu which includes Mac and cheese, wings etc

I already started eating and forgot to take a photo till mid way, eba and fufu I paired with. The chicken was top tier.

Whoever was in the kitchen Saturday... the best BEST ever! I order here frequently, its always amazing, but chef was not playing around this day. Egusi with chicken , okra soup with extra okra. This was the best meal after a long hard week of work. I deserved it, and they deserve the best review. Keep it up!!!

I was excited when I saw an African restaurant had opened up in Woodbridge Mall as they are not common in the area and I am a big fan of having diverse culinary choices. I also like supporting mom and pop businesses, so I walked in with lots of enthusiasm - which vanished fairly quickly. At first, I was actually a bit amused. The furniture looks like it was meant for a different business with big pink chairs and a decor that felt a bit more "Alice in Wonderland" than I had expected. I then looked behind the counter and there was a man there who looked up, looked at me, kind of made a resigned sigh then...went back to looking at his phone. Um...okay? I walked up to the counter and tried to figure out what I was going to order. I asked the man about a menu and he made a subtle nod at the paper menu pile and then got up and walked to the back, as if I was really bugging him. A lady then came out and I thought "Okay, maybe she'll help me?" Yeah, no. I started asking about the menu and she explained nothing, only giving me some really irritated looks. The problem is, the menu had no descriptions or prices. It was hard to tell if you did a "build a bowl/meal" type thing or just ordered a "#1 or #2" etc. Finally I decided to just choose some beef tripe and rice and roll with it. Interestingly, as I stood there I checked in to Yelp via the app, and I'm guessing she saw this because when I looked up she was suddenly smiling as she handed me my food, asking me to visit again. I wound up taking the food home and...it was terrible. The tripe was SO tough. The rice was...okay but the flavor didn't really grab me. The Fufu included with the meal was...very odd in flavor. It tasted almost like herbal medicine which was strange. I have had Fufu at a restaurant in Union before and it tasted nothing like this. I generally try to find the positive in places I go to, but between the disdainful service and the quality of the food, I cannot in good conscience recommend this place, a fact that makes me very sad.

Service was friendly and took maybe 10 minutes from placing my order to being ready. The menu on grubhub is much easier to read because it was challenging using their paper menu and sign board in store. Ambiance inside was antiquated but okay. Clearly a to go place even inside the Woodbridge mall on a busy Saturday.

Apparently at night it's a combination of both. It was packed and the music was extremely loud. We had to wait for a table and everyone was really dressed up - I guess I didn't get the Memo. The food and drinks were really good and the staff were working hard to keep up with the overwhelming amount of people. I read that Lagos has great food and drinks and they did not disappoint. Lagos decor was exquisite and on point. It was great admiring the display of artifacts on the walls. It was also a great place to people watch. The restaurant was a nice party vibe and everyone was having a great time even the staff. Of course the gratuities were included in your check and I wasn't surprise.

I heard so many amazing things about Heritage Spice so I absolutely had to check it out! Also I friend of mine recently catered from Heritage Spice and the food was delicious (I loved the jolllof. It had the perfect smoky party Jollof flavor). I'll start off by saying the menu items are pricey and the prices nearly turned me away...but the food was INCREDIBLE! I seldomly come across a Nigerian restaurant that fully hits the mark on flavors and keeps everything true to the culture. I tried the egusi soup with goat meat and fufu. The stew had a generous amount of goat meat and the egusi tasted very fresh. There was a good level of heat without it being overly spicy. The spices in the stew reminded me of my grandmas home cooking. Lastly, the fufu itself was soft and tasted very fresh as well. The egusi stew truly hit the spot and was the highlight of my work week. Overall 8.5/10 for the egusi and fufu (8/10 for the jollof I tried at a catered event and 10/10 for the puff puff I tried at a catered event). I also ordered the food on Grubhub so that most likely inflated the prices. I'm excited to try out other items on their menu! When I went to the restaurant I was hoping to also get the puff puff because I tried their puff puff at a catered event but I was told they only sell puff puff on Sundays or do pre orders for specialty items like puff puff or meat pie.

I've never had African cuisine, so this was my first time & I was excited to try it. I ordered the meat pie, which was very good & fulfilling even. It's similar to a beef Pattie, however the pattie tasted very similar to coco bread which is what a beef pattie comes with if you choose to have it. I also tried the Egusi Soup (goat meat) with pounded yam. The combination together works very well. There was no overwhelming heat, it was well seasoned & the pounded yam was the perfect portion. Now the pounded yam alone has absolutely no taste, however it's meant to be eaten with the Egusi Soup. I've ordered twice from here & want to make my way to the restaurant to see how it is on the inside, however I have no complaints. I also like that they wrap the Egusi soup in Saran Wrap just in case it gets tilted or the bag goes upside down while being delivered. I always appreciate restaurants that take that extra step to secure the delivery.
