Finally made it back to Seoul Sizzle. The place was busy with online and takeout orders. So the service was a bit slow. We had our usual favorites, bulgogi, bibimbap, and japchae. And our meal came with soup, miyeok guk (traditional Korean seaweed soup). I love this soup; it's usually served on birthdays to celebrate life, so you don't usually find this in other Korean restaurants. It's light and savory. Ah, I love Korean cuisine, especially a classic like bulgogi. Very authentic and with a quiet but warm atmosphere. Very clean and welcoming service. What doesn't take this to a 5, is that my bulgogi unfortunately was on the colder side as well as on the dry side. It was missing those natural juices that surrounds the bulgogi. It's very peaceful here, nice quiet home vibe here, while enjoying a meal here. Their tablet was down so I ordered up front for eating in, this place seems more for take out, but honestly they pretty humble and sweet, and had no hang ups about dining in. The lime apple mint ade, was very refreshing and not overly sweet, definitely worth a shot, since honestly out of wheel house with herb infused drinks, for the galaxy ade, it was kind of muted sweetness, like it was sweet but mellow out, if that makes sense, it was still a great drink and visually definitely worth snapping a pic of it. Cheese dak galbi, was savory and pretty spicy, but not overwhelming, the cheese I like how it tasted like blow torched melted. Chicken inside the gooey mess was very tender and flavorful. All veggies were kind of same in taste since the sauce overpowered them. Never had purple rice before, but it's pretty good, it was soft and fluffy. As for small side dishes, the broccoli and what I thought was fried tofu noodles was tasty. The other two, not my cup of tea. My sister and I were craving Korean so decided to try out Seoul Sizzle. The interior is very nice, the interior design in clean and wood forward. I was actually very surprised when we realized that this place wasn't full service, instead we ordered at the counter and paid before we ate. That definitely didn't feel like the vibe of the place based on how it looks. My sister and I started with fun drinks, I got the Galaxy Ade and she got the Hibiscus Yuzu Ade. Her's was definitely better, mine tasted so sickly sweet. I probably wouldn't order it again, maybe try a hot tea the next time. For food, we decided to share two things. We ordered the Bulgogi set (came with banchan) and tteobokki. Both were good, I'm not going to say they weren't but they definitely were authentic in any way. More like a American version of the dishes. The Bulgogi was thinly cut, super tasty and I loved that I didn't find much fat. The banchan was kind of disappointing seeing as they were small. The marinated cucumbers could have used a more flavorful gochujang, kind of bland. Loved the pickled radish and the tofu skins. The tteobokki had good flavoring. I loved the fried dumplings that soaked up the sauce. Overall, everything was good but if you are looking for really author this might not be the place. read more

This food was so good! The only disappointment is that my tray wasn't actually sizzling lol. The decor inside the restaurant is unique. It has a feel of a sit down restaurant and a takeout restaurant at the same time and still looks like there was artistic thinking behind the design. Also, the fact that you order your food at the counter, pay, and then sit and wait for it to be brought to you also gives it that mix feeling. Unfortunately, I went a few weeks ago so at this point I forgot what I ordered but I know my main entrée was so delicious. I took leftovers home and was excited To finish it the next day. I got scallion pancakes as an appetizer and those were pretty great, but I love scallion pancakes anywhere. I also tried one of their specialty drinks, it was colorful and was in three layers, I believe it was an hibiscus drink. That was so good, highly recommended. If you're in Middletown, I would highly recommend the spot. Easy, chill, casual restaurant with great taste in food and very close to downtown. read more

Went out of our way to stop here after an upstate camping trip. SO WORTH IT. The inside is super clean and minimalist which made for a relaxing stop. From the food to the utensils to the decor- Every little thing is aesthetically pleasing and the service was kind and friendly. The food was a knock out. Very tasty and very filling! I had to take a little to go. Each ingredient was fresh and flavorful. So much attention to detail here. I loved it and can't wait to go back. Tired of pasta and pizza during your stay at Legoland?? Fear not. DoorDash from here! We ordered soondubu, bulgogi, bibimbap, and jeeyok bokkum. The stars are probably the bulgogi and the jeeyook bokkum. The soondubu isn't super spicy and the bibimbap was only decent. Now...if we transplanted this place into NYC or Annandale VA, it's a no comparison, probably an average 3.8 for the price? But for Middletown NY??? AND door dashed???? It's a solid 5. First time here and we loved it! Had the fried Mandu, beef bulgogi, and the dak galbi (spicy chicken). They say everything is made from scratch and it tastes like it. Even the soy sauce (which was wonderful) was homemade. A simple dining experience and the staff is very polite and helpful. read more

A gem in Middletown! Coming from Honolulu, HI this Korean food is legit!! The dak galbi (chicken dish) with purple rice was hearty. There was also delicious ban chan served on the side and you can also order extra for $5! Tried the seafood panjeon (seafood scallion pancake) ($14) and the calamari salad with yuzu dressing. Never asked if we needed anything. We had to go to the counter to ask for a container to take our soup home at the end of our meal. Still never came back out from the back. Amazing Korean food. This was our second time at Seoul Sizzle. First time around I got the bibimbap with beef and the scallion seafood pancake. The pancake was crispy and delicious. Husband got japchae the large size. It was huge. Very filling and delish. Second time I got the beef bulgogi with the galaxy aide. Korean dumplings appetizers. Crispy and amazing. The restaurant is clean and quiet. Love the air conditioner blasting so you can eat your food without sweating everywhere in the summer. The food was served quick for what we ordered. I'm rounding this review up from my desired 3.5 stars to four, because this restaurant is still in their soft opening. There is potential, but so far, the execution is a little lacking. Some of the positives: the presentation of the food was nice, and this restaurant is the cleanest thing for blocks around. That's actually the prelude to one of the downsides, being that this restaurant is on a corner near a dirty bodega, a greasy deli, a tattoo shop, of corner liquor store, two gas stations, and no parking at the restaurant. You have to park down the block and walk past some of these businesses to get here. As I sat near the window, I watched as the homeless and the beggars walked by. One even came in trying to use the restroom. I ordered the beef bulgogi. It was the least flavorful version of this dish I have ever had at any Korean restaurant. I would have ordered something more exciting, except they were not serving their full menu yet. It was served with sides that were both very noticeably fresh, but also uninspired. Other Korean restaurants might serve with more interesting sides than a flavorless marinated cucumber, or plain marinated glass noodles. At the very least, kimchi would have been expected and would have been more flavorful than the sides offered. I did not see that on the menu at all. I was impressed, however, with their choice of purple Rice instead of the more traditional white as the serving accompaniment. The prices are reasonable for this type of cuisine, but rather pricey for the neighborhood they are in. I suspect that they will be doing the bulk of their business by delivery or take out. The seating area was very poorly designed. I sat at the only two person table. The other tables seated six, eight, and three other tables at seated for. They either expect to only have large parties, or did not plan for dine-in customers. They are a very modern restaurant, which I do appreciate. Their menus are digital, and while it's not working yet, they do have a self ordering kiosk. The style of the restaurant is, you go to the counter, place your order, and then sit and wait for it to be brought to you. You. You pay at the time of ordering, which makes tips and awkward situation. The cashier quickly skip past that screen when I went to pay with my card. As a result, I did not have the ability to add a tip to my purchase. To be honest, however, I feel awkward leaving a tip before I've seen the service. The lady that helped me at the register was very friendly, however, she has serious problems understanding the English language. This will be an issue given the neighborhood that they are in. While I was there, I did not see any customers of Asian descent. All the customers were English speaking cultures. A small irritation for me, and one that I'm shocked didn't get caught by the health department, was that the front door does not automatically close. Since I was sitting at the table closest to the door, each time someone came in or left, and thought the door was going to close behind them, it didn't. I was treated to 30° wind blasts during my meal constantly. Again, I have high hopes for this place. But so far, I wasn't impressed. But, as it was a soft opening, I will still give them the benefit of the doubt, and will definitely go back again sometime in the future. read more

I had a great experience at Seoul Sizzle! I had passed it so many times but never knew how great of a restaurant It actually is. The space in small and intimate but you are able to explore the culture by sitting on pillows with your legs crossed. They have kiosks in which you can order for take out while the server can interact with the tables. We tried a few different things from the menu all of which I enjoyed very much. Each dish has its own element and with all of them combined it was a great time! I would 100% recommend if you are into Korean or Asian style food. I will be going back for sure. read more

Unique tasting authentic Korean food. The food was a nice portion. I felt the prices were reasonable I ordered the bulgogi which came with three little sample appetizers, tteokbokki and the Mandu twigim (fried dumplings). The bulgogi is delicious it came with purple rice which I liked a lot and also the appetizers were nice. The tteokbokki was chewy rice cakes a bit spicy but not too much. I did get it to go the service was still amazing. They were extremely busy and I was a walk in. They tried to hurry my order through but I understood and was patient. They gave everyone the same service. The ambience was modern with decorations around. They served on ceramic plates that you would stack on a shelf when you were done. They had soda, teas and waters in an open refrigerator shelf for the to go orders. They had some cute colorful drinks that I saw serving in house. The portions are generous and the drinks were creative. Finally, a non-alcoholic specialty drink for those who don't like alcohol. My husband and I ordered the jeyuk bokkeum, jeyuk bulgolgi, seafood pancake, and 2 drinks - ginger lemon ade and galaxy ade. Everything was delicious. The set comes with rice and 3 banchans. We had leftovers and they kindly gave us a box. The girls who were taking orders and serving were also nice and courteous. The decor is traditional/chic and clean. I like their bg music as well!
