My daughter absolutely adores her and looks forward to every single swim lesson; she is always READY for swim and never once complains about going. That alone says so much. We've seen tremendous growth not only in swimming skills, but also in my daughter's confidence and comfort in the water. Personally, she cared to share her personal endeavors with me, which I don't feel are reflective of what her personal position should hold, that's neither here nor there. I come from a place of wishing you goodwill in your journey of whatever it is that brings you peace and happiness, and I asked that you refrain from threatening me via my personal text which my husband and I both read, as well as on any social media outlet I don't feel that's constructive. It's both discrediting and defamatory against somebody's character. I didn't say anything about you personally again wishing you well, so please refrain from further harassment towards me personally thank you Pretty disappointed with the various layers of content from owner. The initial phone call I placed was to a recorded, outdated message that was very dry and monotone. A little more enthusiasm, especially considering the audience you want to attract would be helpful. Nevertheless I wanted to give it a try and left a message. I would naturally assume a live person, especially an owner attempting to secure a potential new client would personally reach out. Instead I was texted. Very dry, lacking any enthusiasm or introduction to whom I was speaking with. As a parent and an educator I was left feeling very unimpressed and as if my business wasn't a concern for them in securing. It's too bad because in the past, I often gather several friends and children to take part and lessons when I find someone that I'm super happy with and comfortable with. the only reason I am no longer using the private instructors that I have had is because they have moved away. Furthermore, it was indicated that no lessons or instruction would take place and less the degree of temperature was 80° and above I've never heard of this when I've also used professional schools and CPR trained swim instructors that were on swim teams earning medals at the number one high school in California. It's just a little disheartening that I was just treated with such ill regard as to my needs as a client or any considerations on my end. So it was just left as if there was no concern to secure my business again no professional phone call was made or introduction from them. Got an assessment and saw they were able to work with my kid and get them out of their shell. Miss Nicole was wonderful. Signed up right away, clean facility and bathrooms available for changing. I saw the other Miss Maxy work with another student and she was so gentle and patient. The student by the end of class was having a great time. I bought a ten-pack of lessons last year after seeing glowing recommendations on the YL Mom's Club IG. Before I bought, I confirmed with Nicole that she had Saturday availability. After buying, her website wouldn't let me book Saturdays and she eventually ghosted me about scheduling (she later claimed to have personal stuff going on). She posted a couple months later on her business IG that she had lost access to the pool she used. By this point, I was unable to dispute the charge on my credit card because over 60 days had passed. I requested a refund at this point from Nicole, about five months after my purchase. Nicole said she would issue it. Thirty more days went by, no refund. I reached out to Nicole. Nicole said the refund could take up to 3 months. I waited another 60 days, still no refund. Nicole claimed she had issued the refund through her payment processor and sent me a screenshot showing "refunded" but no date on it. Finally a full year after my purchase and having to gather all Nicole's texts to me, IG direct messages, and her own IG posts, my credit card issuer is going to get my money back. When I advised Nicole of this, she said "whoops, looks like your refund was returned to me and the payment processor didn't notify me even though they always notify me." I would NEVER recommend this business for these reasons: 1) Her inattention to detail and incompetence running the basic functions of her business. 2) She victimizes herself on her business social media when too many customer's request charge-backs or refunds. "These fees cost me money as a business owner!!" If the fees are that high, that's a lot of refunds being issued. Huge RED FLAG. The screenshot she sent me of my "refund" showed a $7 fee. If she gets one refund request a month, that's $84 a year. That's a normal cost of doing business. Don't BLAME your customers. 3) She essentially stole my $250 for a year, never followed up and seemingly hoped I would just go away. UPDATED: Adding the screenshots showing my attempts to get the services I paid for. She mishandled this situation for a full year, up to and including her response to this review (threatening me with a libel suit). Make your own decisions based your situation and personal risk tolerance. Hopefully honest feedback will make this business better and help parents find the right fit for their kid's instruction. read more

I will say that my son learned swimming skills, which I will be forever grateful for, but it was in expense of my child's tears from cancelled classes with no prior notice and my time wasted requesting time off work only to arrive to the pool with cancelled lessons. Don't get me wrong- I understand unexpected things happen. Kid pooped in the pool twice, staff get sick, off pH levels, etc. What is unacceptable is the level of communication (or lack thereof) of these cancelled classes. Last week, I rushed to get off work and pick up my child to be at a closed pool with no update until I texted. Excuse was phone is having issues (there are constant issues with their phone or emails). When we were 5 classes in, I had requested a refund due to so many cancellations, but Ms. Nicole tried to work with me. Some cancellations here and there, but we finally were down to 2. I believe I was beyond kind and patient, but this incident just pushed me. After last week's cancelled class and dealing with my son's disappointment, I got him so excited for his upcoming class with Ms. Nicole. We arrived on time, patiently waited as her previous lesson ran 10 minutes past. When that lesson is over, another family then shows up but there is no other instructor. I ask if she's running late as my son's class should've been 10 minutes ago, and she says another staff called out and asked my son to wait 30 minutes while she accommodated that other family first. She didn't even ask if the other family could wait. Excuse me?! I was shocked from how unprofessionally and unfairly Ms. Nicole handled the situation. The other student was easily favored when we arrived on time prior to them, waited patiently for 10 minutes while the other lesson ran late, then was told that we are the ones who had to wait (without any prior notice). We were there watching her previous lesson with no acknowledgement or update from her. My son broke down in disappointment from weeks of excitement resulting in cancelled classes and wondering why HE had to wait when it was our scheduled time, he was there first, and he was her scheduled student. I truly couldn't explain as I was confused myself. Her response is that she just picked and she was trying to accommodate another staff's classes, but my son too, was the other staff's student, and our classes were also rescheduled before. She didn't even try to ask the other family to wait. Cancelled classes, lack of communication are all not great, but this incident was truly disappointing and I am saddened by this experience as I have recommended this company to many families. read more

Long overdue review We moved to Yorba Linda last year and were scrambling to find a school with openings. We attended trials at 4 swim schools and this swim school stood out beyond the others. Nicole was not only patient, but went over the scheduled trial time to work with our child. This was a free lesson that we were attending for an evaluation, but, she treated it as if we had paid for a whole lesson. She took the time to let our sons get comfortable and took the time to talk to us and answer our thousands of questions. Nicole has always been great at communicating with us and we have never had issues, despite other reviews. She has always made sure our sons are comfortable during lessons and had always made sure we were in the loop of what was happening during lessons. She would always let us know what we could work on at home to help the process and it really did help. Nicole's way with kids is indescribable and we are so appreciative of all she has done for our sons. They are so excited to return and see her again. read more

Found this school through a local community buzz page from Nicole posting free swim lessons with various dates and times. I signed up and she confirmed. 30 minutes before, after I already left, she cancelled due to weather- although it was not raining and only windy. I understood things happen and rebooked. The next week the exact same thing happened, and she replied even later, after ignoring several messages, blaming it on losing her phone. I found it extremely unprofessional with the short notice, and lack of concern or empathy for parents trying to book around a child's schedule. Would not recommend. read more

I can not speak highly enough of Just Keep Swimming School and all that they offer. We loved the flexibility that they offer with scheduling because my husband and I are on call for our jobs. While every swim school we attended prior had a requirement of X amount of times a week, we would get lessons deducted when we would have to reschedule due to being called into work or even our child being sick. Nicole has been amazing working with both my kids. One of my children is neurodivergent and she has really understood my child like no other instructor has. She is patient and kind and has a niche in really understanding kids and making the lesson about them. Ive seen reviews talking about communication and we've had zero issues. My son (2.5yo) had his first lesson here this week, but I was impressed enough by the facilities and the staff (having arrived 30 minutes early to give him time to see other kiddos swimming and taking lessons) that I would highly recommend this to any other family already. We were able to watch 3 lessons going on simultaneously (they split up the pool for the lessons so the kids stay in their section and the pool is definitely large enough to accommodate this set up) and all 3 instructors, and they were all great. Really friendly/sweet with their students, teaching style was really warm and fun, and all of the kids seemed to thoroughly enjoy their lesson. There are chairs set up in the shade for parents to sit and watch, and a small changing room on the side for kids to change in and out of their swim gear. Mr. Brent is our son's teacher and my son warmed up immediately to him, was smiling and laughing his whole lesson, and genuinely had fun. read more

My kids have been long overdue for some swim lessons and my little one is ready for some safety swim lessons. First off communication-I cannot thank Ms Nicole enough for always informing me of what's going on. We did have problems with scheduling in the beginning for other reasons, but Ms Nicole kept me in the loop at all times. Also, her patience in answering all my questions (i mean all of them haha- i had a lot considering my 6 mo old is starting swim lessons) she reassured me and put my mind at ease. Mackenzie THRIVES with Miss Nicole! She has SO much fun in her lessons and looks forward to them every week Now! (She's 2.5 years old and is now SO confident in the water!) When Kenzie first started her swim lessons, every lesson she would cry (pretty much the entire time).. She still listened and did everything Miss Nicole told her to do, but would cry out "I want mommy!" She even tried escaping the pool a few times So, to the parents who's children have separation anxiety..or get nervous around new people, I promise you, STICK TO IT! . I knew she was learning and getting more confident and comfortable in the water, because at home she would do SO great with us and even told us how to do things Miss Nicole taught her. . We started swimming when my daughter turned 2. Since she was a pandemic baby she started swimming and had a lot to work through especially "separation anxiety." Ms Nicole and Ms Liz are experts at what they do and both great with kids. They helped my daughter overcome her separation anxiety and her fear of putting her head in the water. Fast forward a year and a half later, my now three year old is swimming and can't get enough of swimming lessons. Ms Nicole and Ms Liz are now working on her with "being water safe." They are both incredible with kids. My eldest (age 7) took lessons with both instructors and loved fine tuning her swim strokes. They work with wherever your child is level wise (beginner, middle, or advanced). Highly recommend! read more

After spending almost 3 months of lessons elsewhere, my daughter seemed to plateau and started to dread going to swim class. We decided to check out other options, and we are so happy to have found Nicole and Liz at Just Keep Swimming! Miss Liz has instructed my 5 year old daughter for about a month, and after just 2 lessons, she has progressed more than she has in 3 months at the "other" place. It isn't just regular drills here, they combine various activities and methods to keep things interesting for the kids. On top of that, the outdoor pool is heated so we get fresh air along with a comfortable pool. There's a shower that we can use, so you can wash the chlorine off of your child's sensitive skin immediately, if needed. Lastly, they are very good about communicating. Whether it be through email, texts, or phone calls, we are always aware of the latest happenings, any process changes and developments. read more

I had a bad experience. I don't see this in any of the other reviews and maybe I just had a uniquely bad experience. Nicole is very nice. My son is a bit difficult so this review has nothing to do with the quality of the lessons. My issue, is the lack of communication. Since the very first day I paid for the lessons up front, I have had issues getting a prompt response from Nicole. Most times I had to wait days after sending a text asking for availability. And many times I would have to simply send another text due to lack of response. Although that was aggravating it wasn't a deal breaker for me. On lesson 7, we were booked for a time that was in the middle of someone else's lesson, causing the other lesson to be cut short and my mother in law who takes my child to the lessons to have to sit and wait until they wrapped up the previous lesson. That was annoying but we only had 1 lesson left after that so I let it go. On our final lesson I texted Nicole asking for her availability on August 11. I received no response. I texted her again on August 15 to receive a text on August 16, asking to text a new number. I did. I received a response on August 17 offering me a time slot. I took the time slot. My mother in law gets to the pool at that time and she is not there. They wait for a few minutes and let me know the situation. I texted the number asking if we were still on for the lesson. I get a response back saying "Hi I'm sorry! I never hit send on my text. I had a house call book at 9 right after I texted you - I have some availability tomorrow morning at 10 or 10:30? Let me know if either work". At this point I have had enough, I respond with "Can I just get a refund for the last session? I am not available tomorrow and I feel bad having had my mother in law take Julian to the pool for nothing." I still have never received a response back. Nicole is nice, but not great at being organized. If I were you, I would save my money and find someone who is dependable and understands the importance of prompt response, or even any response at all. read more

My almost 5 year old daughter has been terrified to swim. We had a pretty traumatic swimming lesson experience when she was slightly younger than two (upsetting enough that she even remembers the teacher's name after almost 3 years) and she's been scared to swim without any sort of floaties since. We had our first lesson yesterday with Ms. Liz and she instantly bonded with my daughter. She established trust with her and made her feel safe before my daughter even got in the pool. By the end of only a 30 minute lesson, my daughter was doing a bit of swimming on her own! I am so impressed and happy. The private lessons are worth every penny! Our 3 year old started swim lessons with zero ability to swim without floaties confidently, and is now jumping off rocks and into the deep end without anyone catching her, swimming the length of our pool, and getting out on her own.
